be mean to me - s.r
♡ summary: maybe spencer wasn't so bothered by your meanness pairing: spencer reid x mean!reader warnings: 18+ MDNI,sub!spencer, smut with a hint of plot wc: 2.2k
Spencer thought he had a pretty good grasp on what he liked. He knew what made him feel good and he knew what he didn't like. He knew he liked you. But there was one little thing. Minuscule, really. It didn't even matter all that much, it's just... sometimes, you happened to be a little...
mean.
"Spence get me a coffee while you're up would you?" You ordered asked, barely looking up from your file, when he had stood up to bring a file to Hotch.
"Sure." He nodded, heading up the stairs to drop off the file and then moving into the kitchen to make your coffee just the way you like. He was stirring a little bit of milk into your mug, black with a little cartoon of snoopy on it, when Derek sauntered into the kitchen.
"Hey, man. Why do you let her do that?"
"Do what?" Spencer asked.
"Order you around. Is there something in it for you?" Derek grins.
"No, I- I just like being helpful."
"Ohh, I get it. You like it. You naught boy." Morgan teased, making Spencer flush red in embarrassment.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Spencer stammered, grabbing your mug and pushing past Derek who wolf whistles after him. He sets the mug down on your desk next to you and you finally look up at him.
"What took so long?" You asked, picking up the mug and taking a sip, staring at him over the lip of the cup.
"I, uh- Derek was just teasing me."
"About what?" You asked and his blush deepened.
"Um, nothing really, it's not important." He said, sitting back at his desk and ducking into his work. You stared at him for a moment before shrugging and going back to your work.
-
You and Spencer were looking through files in the Florida police precinct. The rest of the team was out at crime scenes or talking to victims so the two of you were left to your own devices.
"Do you have the file in McKinley?" You asked.
"Um... uh, yeah right here." He said sifting through the pile of files around him before passing it to you. "Do you think he's a suspect?" Spencer asks.
"Come on, Spencer, don't be stupid." You chuckled sadistically. "You know he's not a suspect. I'm more concerned with his dating history." You said, flipping through the file.
"Why, what does that have to do with the case?" Spencer asked?
"Spence, come on." You stood up, moving to stand behind his chair and dropping the file in front of him. "Look, he was briefly married to Carla Finch before they divorced. Then he moved in with Betty Grey who pops up in The Jackson's file as their maid." You talked slowly as if you were talking to a child. Spencer blushed, feeling the tent in his trousers grow.
"Okay, I got it."
"Yeah?" You stood up, hands on your hips as you looked down at him. "You sure? Or should I really spell it out for you?" You sassed.
"N-no I get it." Spencer cursed himself for stammering, a blush rising on his cheeks.
"Good boy." You squeezed his shoulder before sitting back down with your file. Spencer shifted in his seat, adjusting his trousers as he avoided looking at you.
-
You and Spencer were having a little dinner with the BAU at your house. You were cooking a nice meal, a little celebration for the case you just finished. Spencer was in the kitchen helping you cook, or rather, trying.
"Spence are you even mixing it?" You asked, glancing into his bowl where the ingredients were messily combined.
"I'm trying." He defended.
"Okay, well, try harder, this has to be a meal, not a bunch of ingredients."
"Okay, I know." You continued flitting around the kitchen, checking oven timers, seasoning, glazing, perfecting, and Spencer did his piece.
"Spencer, get me the oven mitt." You said and he immediately abandoned his task to do what you asked.
"Here you go." He stood next to you, holding it out. You grabbed it, sliding it on your hand. You grabbed his jaw in your other hand, planting a kiss on his cheek before opening the oven. Spencer smiles, going back to his previous task.
~
The BAU arrives and everyone sits down to enjoy dinner. Around halfway through, Derek speaks up.
"Mm, what is in this chicken? It's so good."
"Thank you, I worked hard, so..." You trailed off with a grin and the team chuckled.
"Did you know that chickens are actually very intelligent. They can demonstrate complex cognitive abilities, including the ability to recognize faces, learn from experience, and even perform basic math. They can-" You cut him off, squeezing his thigh and leaning a bit closer to him.
"Later, babe." You murmured. Spencer gave a tight lipped smile and looked down at his food.
"Sorry."
"So, does anyone want dessert?" You asked, standing up. They all gave their agreements and you brought over the cake you made. Everyone had a slice and then the team all sat around the living room together. You were chatting with JJ and next to you on the couch sat Spencer who was debating with Morgan.
"Elle, can you-"
"Shh, hang on." You held up a finger in his direction, not even looking at him as you leaned a little closer to JJ to hear the end of your story. Once she finished you turned to Spencer and Derek. "What do you want?"
"We need you to settle this for us. Is almond milk milk?" Derek asked, completely serious. You stared at them, glancing between him and Spencer.
"What?"
"Simple question. Is almond milk considered milk?" Derek asked again.
"Are you kidding me?" You said.
"Of course it's not milk, it's just almonds, water, salt, emulsifier, sweetener, and vitamins." Spencer exclaimed.
"It's literally in the name! Almond milk! It's milk!" Derek defended.
"It isn't!"
"Oh my god, you're both idiots." You groaned.
"What?" Spencer asks.
"I don't fucking care. This is the stupidest argument I've ever heard."
"Well you don't have to be so mean about it." Morgan says but Spencer stays quiet, shifting in his seat as your hand brushes the side of his thigh.
"I'm not. Have you two heard yourselves? Is almond milk milk? You couldn't think of anything better to talk about?"
"Well..." Derek trailed off and you rolled your eyes, turning back to JJ.
-
Eventually, the night was coming to a close and the team made their way to the door.
"See you at work on Monday." Emily waved goodbye.
"See you guys. And it is milk." Derek said, pointing at Spencer.
"It isn't-"
"Don't. Do not start this again." You interjected.
"Meanie." Derek grinned before leaving and you pushed him out the door, shutting it behind him. Spencer moved to go to the bedroom and you followed.
"Hey, hey, hang on." You grabbed his arm before he could make it to the en-suite. "I'm sorry about earlier, Spence. I wasn't trying to be mean to you, or Morgan… I guess. I know I can be a little mean sometimes but it's out of love, I swear." You were about to apologize some more when you felt Spencer’s hands glide up under your shirt and rest on the dip of your waist. You looked up to see Spencer avoiding eye contact.
"You can be a little mean." He said so softly you almost didn't catch it. "I don't mind." Oh. Oh. You grinned wickedly.
"You kinky bastard." Spencer couldn't have gotten redder if he tried and pushed his face into your neck with a defeated groan.
"Shut up." He grumbled.
"Damn, all this time I thought you hated when I was being mean but... you're turned on aren't you?" You teased, pulling back to look at him.
"Maybe..." He was staring at the ground, avoiding eye contact. You reached up, hooking a knuckle under his chin and tilting his head up to look into your eyes.
"Spence."
"Yeah?"
"Get on the bed." His eyes widened and he scrambled to get on the bed, pushing himself back until his back was against the headboard. He watched you saunter to the foot of the bed. "Take your clothes off." You ordered and he quickly did so, yanking his clothes off until he sat in just his boxers, hands curling into the sheets by his sides nervously. You slowly stripped, tossing your clothes on the floor before crawling across the bed to him. He watched with wide, lust filled eyes as you made your way to him, pressing a kiss to his hip, moving up to his stomach. You kissed up his chest to his neck, pausing to suck on his pulse point. Spencer gasped as your teeth grazed his skin, biting down. You pull away, leaning in to brush your lips against his. He whines when you don't kiss him, making you grin.
"Do you want something Spencer?"
"Mhm." He whines.
"Well you have to tell me what you want, I can't read your mind." You teased.
"I want you to kiss me."
"Ask nicely."
"Please kiss me. Please." He begs you. You grinned, finally pressing your lips against his roughly. You swallowed the moan he let out, your legs straddling his hips. You started to grind your core over his clothed cock, feeling wetness pool between your thighs. Spencer whimpered your name. "Please, more, I need- I need more." He gasped in the middle of his sentence.
"More what, baby?"
"More- more... ah!" He bucked his hips when you reached down, gripping his cock through his boxers, beginning to slowly stroke him.
"Use your words, Spence, what do you want?"
"I- I want you to- to ride me." He says, his voice quieting in embarrassment as his face blushed red.
"Hmm... I don't think you're ready yet." You teased, continuing to stroke his length through fabric. Spencer whined letting his head fall back against the headboard as you slipped your fingertips under the waistband, pulling them down his legs. You took his cock in your hand again stroking up and down, painfully slow, taking your sweet times as you watched Spencer's chest heave up and down, sweat forming on his brow. After a torturous five minutes, Spencer whimpered out,
"Please, please, I need more."
"Yeah?" You couldn't help the grin on your face at his desperation. You sped up your movements and Spencer let out a breathy moan. You continued until he was teetering on the edge, his back arching as he rushed out, 'I'm gonna cum, I'm gonna cum!'
And then you stopped. Spencer whined loudly.
"Why'd you stop?" He slurred out in a pleasure drunken haze.
"Well you don't want to come now and ruin everything do you?" You said condescendingly, brushing the hair back from his flushed face.
"You're so mean." He grumbled.
"But you love it, don't you?" You said, kissing his pouty lips. He opened his mouth to retort when you grabbed his cock again. He gasped as you quickly brought him to the edge again, keeping him there with your slow strokes.
"Please, please, please." He changed, squirming with the need to release. His hips bucked up towards your hand and you pulled it away, making him whine once more.
"Am I being too mean?" You asked teasingly.
"No, no, just- please."
"So you're saying I could be meaner?"
"No! No, please, I can't- I can't take it."
"Okay, okay, I'll be nice. For once." You smirked, stripping yourself of your underwear and straddling his lap. You slowly lower yourself onto his length and he gasps. Once he's fully sheathed inside you, you start to move your hips back and forth, making him shudder. You plant your hands on his chest, rocking your hips in a circle. Spencer moans, his head dropping back once more, exposing his throat for you to kiss and suck on. His moans are music to your ears as you grind against him, his hands on your hips.
"Oh god, please, I'm so close, please."
"Do you wanna cum pretty boy?"
"Mhm, I wanna cum, please." He begs.
"How bad?" You asked, grinning.
"So bad, I- I wanna cum, please, I'm so close."
"Okay, baby, come for me." You rolled your hips harder, needing to feel his sweet release inside you. He moans as he finishes inside you, his hips bucking at the pleasurable feeling. You keep riding him, wanting to get yourself off. Spencer whines, feeling very overstimulated. "I'm almost there, I'm close." You moaned breathily. Spencer gripped the sheets in his hands as he whimpered, his chest heaving. You moaned, your head dropping back as you came on his twitching cock buried inside you. You collapsed against him, breathing in his scent combined with the scent of sex that filled the room. He wrapped his arms around you, because no matter how exhausted he was, he would always be delighted to hold you.
a/n: I genuinely couldn't tell if I was writing the reader to be too mean or not mean enough but I think it works :]

okay i have to know how you feel about the “reveal” in the comic that naoki was targeted by the sheriff. personally i’m not a huge fan of how that recontextualizes mako and bolin’s story, but at the end of the day it doesn’t actually CHANGE anything so i can live with it
also what are your opinions on hisa? i liked her a lot, and i was honestly wondering if she and mako were going to have something between them just because of the comic hinting at mako getting a date. but i was pleasantly surprised they didn’t go that route!
Okay so on the one hand, I love how ordinary the boys are-they're just a couple of second generation republic city boys who grew up poor. The random nature of it makes everything about the boys seem more 'normal', as opposed to the big grand destiny driven back stories and plot devices that push most of the other characters' stories forward.
On the other hand, the way in which Naoki was targeted doesn't feel big or grand or destiny driven. It's not wrapped up in world politics. It's part of a repressive government story, but on a significantly smaller scale than most of the other political story lines we see. Her being targeted is more about a grudge than it is about political machinations with wider reaching implications.
I liked Hisa just fine! One of my biggest fears with this comic is that they would shoehorn in a romance for Mako. But aside from Bolin's comment about it, there really was nothing between them!
We did briefly discuss this in my discord server, (which, if anyone wants to join in please do so!) that Hisa actually seemed to have more chemistry with Bolin than Mako! I'm generally a Bopal shipper because they're canon but Bolin can date Hisa and they can raise the three kids together that's fine with me.
One thing that would have been cool to explore further is Mako's identity as a police officer against Hisa's obvious mistrust of law enforcement given that law enforcement on her island abused their power and oppressed the people. Lok is full of copaganda but I definitely thought having a sheriff as the villain and a character who dislikes the police was an interesting choice that could have been explored more. But it was a pretty short comic and they crammed a lot in there so maybe I'm asking too much

Sir Pentious Overhaul
Backstory: Victorian Inventor from London. He's not sure when he died because he was a shut-in.
Original name: Spencer Whitlock
Died in an explosion. Started out of a desire for money to increase his standing but but that doesn't matter to him anymore. Now he just wants to be acknowledged, a desire that led him to greater and greater depths.
He was the second of three sons of his family and constantly vied for standing in the family hierachy. He lost that struggle badly and that was a leading cause in his goals.
Design: I kinda hate this design so I'm going to redo it eventually.
Character:
Pentious wants to be acknowledged and is willing to go to great lengths for it. He feels unsafe even at the hotel because he could never trust his family in a supposedly safe environment.
He needs to work through these things over the course of the season.
He is very creative and wants to be loved. He is caring once his walls drop.
He doesn't swear in swearwords but uses creative insults. To mix up the speech patterns of the characters.
Plot (Season 1)
Episode one ( Takes 1 day for pilot events and 1 more for stuff afterwards)
Pent only briefly appears. Focuses more on establishing the premise. This includes making the commercial.
Episode two (starts at week 2 ends at week 4)
Pent is hired by the Vs. He looks up to Vox so agrees instantly.
He shows up and asks to be redeemed. Vaggie, Angel and Alastor all doubt him. Vaggie decides to give him a shot, Alastor doesn't really care. Only Angel blatantly confronts him. Charlie trusts him though.
Pentious tries to smuggle some weapons in but is immediately stopped by Vaggie. He's annoyed but manages to sneak Vox's cameras in.
Angel constantly antagonizes Pentious. Charlie is mad about this. She's been struggling to make progress and is stressed regarding getting a meeting with heaven.
Trust falls. Pent fails at this. He can't bring himself to do it. Angel takes a break from antagonizing him to antagonize Vaggie when she tries to convince Pent. He points out that she only trusts Charlie. Vaggie can't do it when it's not Charlie.
Pent goes around the hotel under pretext of making himself at home to plant the cameras. Alastor immediately breaks them, but Pent doesn't notice.
Charlie suggest makeovers to represent their new selves. Angel is inappropriate and makes Charlie, Husk and Pent uncomfortable. Vaggie tells him to drop it. Pentious doesn't like the idea of changing his style but he tries because he's spying. Charlie has a narrow idea of redemption/morality and is unhappy with the new duds. (First hint Vaggie gets that Charlie is super out of her depth)
Charlie takes them out to dinner post makeover. Pent has been here a week and has avoided the other residents mostly. It's just Charlie, Vaggie, Angel and Pent so it's deeply uncomfortable. Vaggie and Pent are the most bothered by this and connect over that fact.
Alastor goes to the overlord meeting. (No eggbois, he uses one of Pent's devices)
Episode 3 (Week 5)
Charlie writes a play to show a good example of good morality (not the one from the show but of roughly the same quality). Pent goes for it and puts his heart into it. He adds some personal touches (makes his kind character insecure/anxious and hesitant to do the right thing but choosing to do it regardless. He's projecting what he thinks a redeemed version of himself might look like), which Charlie dislikes because she wants a paragon and believes that's how all good people are. Vaggie takes notice.
Angel finds proof of Pent's loyalties and attacks him. Vaggie breaks it up but is clearly disappointed, as Pent managed to convince her that he was genuine (because subconsciously, he is). This angers her and she tries to kill him, but Charlie stops her. She gives him a chance to explain himself and Pent confesses to what he's done. Her disappointment upsets him and he asks to try again. Charlie agrees on a probationary basis. Nifty finds Pent to be cool after the reveal (for a bit).
Angel is so proud of being right but no one cares. Pent goes up to him and tries to make up with him by acknowledging Angel's tenacity. Angel acts mad but is considering giving him a chance.
Nifty starts a fire accidentally. (at the bar) Pent knows what to do (a lot of his inventions have caught fire over the years) and is able to put it out quickly. Vaggie was busy rescuing a stoned Angel from injury.
Vaggie confronts Pent on his adjustments to the play. She asks how serious he is about redemption. She tells him to go back to inventing. Good people are as passionate as bad people, after all. Maybe focus on things that aren't violence. The two of them go drinking outside the hotel occasionally.
Episode 4 (Week 10-14)
Charlie meets Adam.
Vaggie is worried and Pent tries to cheer her up, assuming she's worried about Charlie, by organizing a game night. He convinces Husk to join by deciding to allow cheating so Husk can have his own version of fun. He convinces Angel by making a rule that losers (in games where it makes sense) take shots. Doing this regulates Angel's drinking and incentivizes Husk to lose. He fails to convince Nifty by offering to introduce her to a bad boy (she no longer believes in his bad-boyness). Husk convinces her by having the loser help her out around the hotel for a week. Vaggie is touched by the gesture. Angel invites Cherry, Pent's rival. Pent takes the jibes in stride, even after he comes in last place.
Charlie comes back and tells them about the incoming meeting with the seraphim.
Charlie goes to Angel's work to get him to spend more time at the hotel.
Pent becomes Charlie's new project. She makes a long list of things Pent has to do to convince heaven. This includes giving up inventing again. He can't use his creative insults either. Game night no longer involves cheating or drinking (Angel no longer attends, Husk is only there because of Alastor). (4 week montage, 1 a week game night is established.
Episode 5 (Week 15)
Husk snaps at Angel after months of his bullshit. Pent isn't super involved in this episode. He hangs out with Cherry when she comes to visit Angel (this is in the background). He goes to help Cherry with her bombs but is told off by Charlie.
Husk tries to get Angel to cut back on the drugs and enlists Pentious' and Cherry's help to find ways of coping that don't rely on Valentino. Cherry suggest another drug. Pent says that that's a bad idea given Charlie. They settle on making a safe for Angel's drugs and having Husk give him a limited amount and slowly weaning him off of them. Cherry will go with Angel when outside the hotel to stop him from buying more and Pent will help him distract himself. This falls through because Charlie is eating up his time.
Episode 6
Timelapse
Cherry and Husk listening to Angel vent. (scenes intersecting to show time passing. Angel becomes more open)
Charlie and Pent working on making him seem respectable. (Images between scenes)
Charlie and Pent drinking (non-alchoholic drinks) and hanging out in a good moral way. (in Charlie's opinion) (they talk about their upbringings and how they both felt unloved) (scene)
Angel and Cherry going to a bar to help him take the edge of withdrawals because Husk is weaning him off the drugs too fast. They run into Alastor, who is chatting with Mimsy, who is about to perform (Her original plot may come up in season 2) and Angel refrains from making inappropriate comments. (Scene)
Vaggie takes Charlie on a date. (Image or scene)
Pent's workshop gathering dust. Vaggie noticing. (Images)
Vaggie gently suggesting Charlie might be messing up but immediately backtracking. (Scene)
Pent crushing on Cherry but worried that the whole sex thing might be a no-no. Afraid to ask. (scene)
Charlie offering Cherry a chance at redemption. Cherry turns her down. (scene)
Husk coaching Angel on the art of subtlety. It doesn't go super well but Angel was open to it.
(To be improved on so that it turns into a coherent episode)
Episode 7 (month 11)
Charlie and Vaggie go to heaven.
Pent breaks down to Angel and Husk from the stress. They invite Cherry to have a 'screw this' party. They drink and play the OG game night. Pent drunkenly hits on Cherry. Cherry is dtf but Pent pulls back, realizing that he's letting Charlie down. He runs off. Husk goes after him and cheers him up.
Vaggie runs away due to the angel reveal. Pent hears about this and goes to look for her. She tells him the truth and Pent listens and empathizes. He helps her come to terms with it, but she doesn't want to go home yet. Instead, they go to apologize to some of the people Pent hurt more severely. Cherry tracks them down to check up on them and Pent explains himself. She calls him a dumbass but is willing to give casual dating a try, even if his idea of a relationship is different from hers.
They go home and apologies are given and received.
Episode 8 (month 12)
Pent sacrifices himself for Cherry and goes to heaven. Sera reveals that the reason she wouldn't tell Vaggie what gets one into heaven was because getting in is much harder if you know. The standards are far higher because it's harder to tell if you're genuine. She tells him that it's been a long time since anyone has risen from hell. Emily promises to show him around. Lute glares when she sees him.

Rough day
Masterlist - Misc. masterlist
Words: 1123
Warnings: smut (18+)
Notes: this is inspired by the one scene from S01E06 where Miller got almost killed during his investigation. I haven't finished season 1 yet, so apologies if not everything is lore accurate or some things seem off as I don't know the whole plot yet. I've played the game though, so I have somewhat of an idea about this universe :)
You saw Joe limp towards his apartment, his shirt only barely buttoned, revealing dark patches of bloodstains in sharp contrast to the light blue fabric. Each step he took was accompanied by grunts of discomfort, his usual smugness replaced by an expression of pain, twisting his rugged handsome face into something unpleasant. A sight that fuelled the growing uncomfortable pit in your stomach. Just as he reached the door, he felt a hand softly, almost hesitantly, holding his shoulder and as he turned around, his gaze fell on your worried face, tears gathering at the corners of your eyes, your lips trembling as you struggled for words that refused to come out. It pained him to see you like this, even more than the wounds Dawes' henchmen inflicted on him. Why were you even here? Why were you so hell bent on being around him, loving him? He had nothing to offer you, nothing good at least and yet you always came back to him. A sad sigh, tinged with a hint of comfort, passed his lips as he gestured for you to enter. His battered body collapsed heavily onto the couch, utterly drained from the effort of hauling himself back home. His head reclined as his eyes gradually shut and he took a deep breath. You rushed towards the cabinet, taking out a device and settling silently beside Joe. Your trembling hands unbuttoned the rest of his shirt and carefully pulled it aside. You briefly wondered what he had gotten himself into again this time but ultimately, you knew it wouldn't matter, painfully aware that his job was dangerous and he was too stubborn to quit.
"Joe", you whispered, applying the healing spray and observing as the injury on his abdomen started to mend.
"I'll be alright", he finally turned his head towards you, his hand lovingly caressing your back, "I'm hard to kill, you know that."
You rolled your eyes, setting the healing device on the table before you curled up to him, burying your face in the crook of his neck. One of his hands held the back of your neck while the other pushed against your shoulder to create some distance so he could look at you. His eyes were serious but gentle, radiating the affection he harboured for you, as they locked onto yours, a silent apology for the pain he caused you.
"We have the rest of the evening and all of tomorrow to ourselves", a small grin formed on his lips, "I'm all yours if you'll have me."
It eluded you how he always managed to tug your heartstrings in the perfect way, playing the pure melody that bound you two together. He wasn't without his flaws, yet given the choice, you would always pick him over anyone else.
“Let's go to bed”, you smiled back at him, rising from the couch.
Your fingers intertwined with his as you lead him to the bedroom. His breath hitched at the feeling of your fingers delicately trailing over his chest, you hummed contently at the softness of his chest hair on your fingertips, his warmth radiating from his skin. He stood there silently when you let his shirt slide off his shoulders, his heart hammering, almost painfully, while you continued to undress him until he stood completely bare in front of you.
“Um, I”, he started but his voice broke off when he felt your fingers wrapping around his hardening length.
You stroked him gently, inching forward, lips pressing on his chest, planting small kisses downwards as you knelt. You paused just above his hardening length, glancing upwards, a wicked smile adorning your lips at the sight of Joe falling apart before you even began. You pushed him unto the bed and spread his legs apart.
“You had a rough day”, you moved closer, lightly kissing his inner thighs, “allow me to help you forget it and enjoy the remainder of it.”
He observed you with curious eyes, pupils blown wide with lust, a dirty moan rumbling in his throat, threatening to spill out the moment your soft lips wrapped around the tip of his cock. You pressed your tongue against it, teasingly whirling around before you start sucking at his tip. Achingly slow, sinking down just a bit more before you released his cock again, a dark chuckle coming from you as you saw it twitch. Joe's breaths grew heavy, he bucked his hips desperately in hope to feel you on him again but instead he only felt your hands on his thighs, holding him back in place.
"You're killing me", he grumbled, trying to sound annoyed but barely able to hide the excitement, "I gotta say this only once love", he gripped your chin and tilted your head up, "I had a rough day so...please."
It was a desperate plea, his own version of a humble request to grant him the pleasure and the release he craved. He could feel the smile as your lips were on his hard length again, hips bucking when his fingers entangled with your hair. Your hands remained on his hips, pinning him down as you moved on your own pace, swallowing him slowly, tongue pressed flat against his cock. You'd be the death of him and still, here he was, gladly falling apart only for you, not regretting one second of it. He'd give you everything, his life, his love. The fervent pleas of Joe echoed in the room, tinged with your name as his head fell back, mouth wide open, his mind long gone while his body slowly succumbed to the ever-growing pleasure building within him. You bobbed your head up and down, increasing the pace, swirling your tongue eagerly around the tip when you felt his cock twitch. He was on the edge, breaths growing heavier, your name falling from his lips along with the desperation before he arched his back, almost sobbing as he came into your mouth. Your tongue circled around the tip one last time, greedily licking the last remaining drop of his release before you got up. Joe didn't give a chance to get far and instantly wrapped his arms around you, gently pulling you down onto the bed, holding you in a tight embrace as he pressed a tender kiss on your forehead. Surviving on the station was a struggle, his job riddled with danger, the societal stability teetering on the brink of collapse but, right here and now, feeling your calm warm breath on his skin, that one persistent thought crossed Joe's mind again, that life could occasionally, against all odds, be good and he was exactly where he longed to be, finding solace and happiness in your embrace.

a huge part of the writing is that it's written semi in the mind of the character you currently are, as if it's a retelling of their thought process, jade doesn't have sarcastic remarks because jade is not a super sarcastic person
This is a good point and one I briefly noted when talking about the "fursuit" page (where Jade appears offended by the suggestion that she owns a fursuit), as well as the longer passages where Rose and Dave describe the weather outside their homes. The prose does often shift in tone to align with the POV character's internal monologue, and it is fair to argue that the excessive positivity in Jade's pages are more her than Hussie.
This still doesn't detract from my stance that Hussie is giving a lot more preferential treatment to Jade compared to the other kids. She's assigned great plot importance, the buildup to her introduction took up a not insignificant portion of Act 2, and she's given more than double the pages focusing on her than either Rose or Dave got for their respective intros.
I wouldn't mind any of this if Jade was a more engaging character, but she isn't. She's shallower and less fleshed out than the rest of the cast (well, Rose and Dave at least), her overriding character traits being "infectiously positive" and "can see the future." Despite her laundry list of interests, they all come across as superficial since she doesn't talk about them with her friends. I'm still very hung up on the fact that she's stated to be a cartoon lover, but she never name drops her favorite shows in the same way John does his movies.
She has no chemistry with the other kids and her pesterlogs aren't entertaining. Most of them only ever amount to her cheekily hinting at some event that the others have yet to be aware of, but never using this knowledge to help them. Instead she only offers vague clues and empty encouragement. I'd say the only thing she's said so far that was funny was when she called Karkat a jerk twice before blocking him, like that's the biggest insult she can come up with.
Everything she does is heavily rooted in the exposition, acting as a walking plot device to set everything in motion. Meanwhile, her friends are embroiled in much more intense conflicts that take a backseat whenever the narrative shifts focus to her. It's a big mood killer, despite Hussie framing these sections as fun lil' romps on Jade's private island.
I'm sorry to the Jade fans sending me these asks. I don't see the vision of your skrunkly in the same way you do. (Don't worry, you'll see which characters I'm unreasonably attached to when I get to Act 5...)
