Quick question: how comfortable are you with gore? I have an interesting scenario in my head.

Warning: light description of dead bodies and massacres.

So I was looking into mythology again and took a look at the story of Kali, the hindu goddess of pure unstoppable rage, death, time, and a form of Parvati. And it gave me a little scenario for OB!Jamil.

Let's say that everyone has some form of extreme/dark side. All these dark sides stay in their own dimension of sorts. For mages, it manifests as an overblot. For normal people, it's usually a manifestation of what they are at their worst.

The reader's darker side manifests from their desire to help others. Specifically an intolerance towards evil. While normally they'll accept that some people can't be changed while still promoting non lethal punishments, their darker side is basically kill on sight. If you're a scum of the Earth who commits unjustifiable evil (ex: abusers, pedos, rapists, etc), you're dead.

Cue the scenario: so we got OB!Jamil chilling in his massive palace partying it up with other darksides. It's basically a convention for hedonist (with limits, Jamil still has standards). Suddenly he gets a the news that there's a huge scuffle on his turf and it's getting in the way of party supplies.

Royally pissed off, Jamil marches out to deal with (ie kill) whatever is getting j the way of his party.

Then he sees this: a pile of massacred bodies, all darksides who's he's quarreled with or heard to have been below his standards, with what has to be the most sublime creature he's ever seen dealing a finishing blow to one of the survivors. The person slowly turns their attention to him, all the while oozing bloddlust. Just one look and Jamil understood: this is one of the most dangerous being to walk this world and they could crush him like a bug.

Cue cupid's arrow. Why? Because OB!Jamil is still Jamil and normal Jamil is currently in a very loving relationship with the normal version of the reader. OB!Jamil knows nothing of the person in front of him. Not their name nor their personality. But he does know that he loves them.

Jamil, now throughly enamored, grabs their hand and starts flirting, gleefully inviting them to his palace. The reader, still covered in blood and guts, just goes "huh?"

Reader: I just finished slaughtering your guests and your response is to flirt?

Jamil: well they're barely acquaintances. But I must say that you're radiance greatly outshines their filth! So how about it? Hmm, I promise the finest dishes and entertainment if you come along.

Reader: *starts laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation while slightly blushing"

Jamil: 😍

The pair then proceed to head back to Jamil's place and live happily every after.

This version of the pair also comes with the visual of Jamil and his beloved dancing on the corpses of their enemies.

We sure are headed for a full on au with these, huh?

Now I can't say I'm big on gore (at least when we get graphic about it, like it kinda put me off from watching game of thrones and the fallout show) but ngl I can kinda vibe with the sheer unhingedness of this all.

I'm also thinking of this in relation to the previous ask, with reader's destructive tendencies being particularly directed towards anyone who they feel has wronged Jamil. Those people (or whatever these beings are) not even knowing that crossing reader's path might be in some ways worse than Jamil getting his revenge on them. (Or if we're looking at darkside versions of people who have wronged normal Jamil… well, there's a few of those as well, isn't there?)

At least for Jamil's canonical overblot, imo the two things at the center of it were wanting power and wanting recognition (aka no longer being the one having to hold back and no longer having to take orders from others). Which, sure would be a reason for plenty of conflict with those other darksides, who probably aren't exactly enthusiastic about submitting to his will or anything like that. Plenty of folks for reader to lovingly mow down 🥰

I do love the concept of the feelings from the real world carrying over to these reflections, even if these reflections may not fully understand what or how it is happening.

Just “I'd crush the whole world for you 😍” “How sweet 🥰” for these two, huh?

Ah yes, dancing together on a field of your slain enemies, what an epitome of romance.

But talking of Kali also makes me think of one of them taking on the role of Shiva. Throwing themselves on the way of the other to stop their wanton destruction. Just, the potential for drama there.

Maybe even regular Jamil doing this with an enraged reader for whatever reason? I mean, he'd definitely have to be desperate to do something that endangers himself so directly, but the uncharacteristicness of it all just makes it even more tasty (and angsty, presuming it would still involve Jamil getting hurt. Tho depending on the particular history they have, he could always play it off that at least they're even now after he hurt reader during his overblot…)

☕️ anon here, and while echo is the echo of all the unhingedness of all Jayce’s (which in turns, makes magical girl Jayce aware he is not as mentally healthy as he thought he is and makes him go to therapy), I will admit that magical villain Jayce is particularly good reason why echo bloom is off his rocker 24/7

I’m going to call villain Jayce… arcanum wither, as he has one of the gems he wears around his wrist as it was given to him by mage viktor saving him and his mom from a snow storm (as even if it wasn’t Jayce, he isn’t going to let a kid died)… mage viktor bingo card didn’t have any of this insanity on it. I’d imagine it’s the destruction rune that is around Jayce wrist, and giving him power at the cost of his sanity.

(Maybe bloom and arcane encounters a masked wither, both getting their asses kicked by the destructive force that wither has and manages to knock viktor unconscious, and in turn, makes him return to his civilian form.

Jayce watches that… being, Jayce hesitates calling it a man or anything else, almost physically retract into itself as it saw viktor. Then, much to Jayce horror, he could feel the air, no… it’s not the air changing, Jayce knew echo could reflect what another version of himself… he could feel this being emotion change from a rage, to a extreme manic glee.

Jayce prepares to fight this entity alone, he could also feel the echo inside of him raring to go, to hurt the other entity for knocking at viktor.

They fought Till it used a spell to teleport away before Jayce could get to it, only leaving destruction behind…

Jayce let echo carry viktor home that night, and guard his door just in case wither comes back.)

Wither is near buzzing out of his skin at the sight of a living, healthy version of viktor, also feeling horrified at hurting his partner from a different world. That isn’t being a good partner, being a good partner is awaking your true self so you can be happy!

Meanwhile, Jayce explains what happens Mel and sky, who are just as worried about how wither reacted to seeing viktor. Jayce also told viktor too, and that they should be careful as Jayce could feel that wither wants viktor for something.

"mage viktor bingo card didn’t have any of this insanity on it" that's why when wither started to let himself be known, mage viktor sat up and immediately started dialing the gang. he tells that there might be unprecedented levels of bullshit coming their way and they need to be careful and to get stronger!

i'm imagining wither as this humanoid being of darkness or maybe a mix of technology and dried flowers? and it gives him this familiar scent. jayce is so worried because the emotions he can sense from wither goes from rage to horror to manic glee. and he knows how he's looking at viktor. something desperate and hungry. and this is one of the times bloom and echo merge together, doubling blooms power. he manages to do damage so wither retreats

echoing bloom carries viktor home and he'll keep watch to make sure viktor is safe (...i wonder if this is when jayce finds out his beloved aurora is also his beloved viktor?) viktor has a headache, what does the bad guy want him for?!

I wonder if someone from Joe’s team is tasked with keeping an eye on the unhingedness that is out there about him. I’m sure there were threats towards him when he was with Taylor and I can’t imagine that has changed. The fact that someone is just going on about their day with a “behead Joe Alwyn” as their twitter name is UNHINGED and scary as fuck. Yes, a lot of it is just words and I have to assume the majority of these people who have a lot to say about him would never in a million years say it to his face and instead ask for a picture (like those girls this summer who mocked the hell out of him after smiling for a picture with him), but it’s terrifying to me how much people hate him and what they are willing to say and do all because he didn’t want to be with their favorite singer anymore.

He’s such a better person than me. I would be raging on the daily and trying to get every single person who is telling me to die to be arrested. It feels hopeless that this is ever going to go away for him.

Joe truly is a much a better person than me. I would have all those psychopaths arrested.

Amen - Amber Run: HESH. This pathetic man drives me a little insane I stg. I always think it’s fun to play around with how he deals with grief. Take that how you will. The ending is the absolute best part and makes me think of Hesh screaming on the beach after Logan is taken.

Divine Loser - Clem Turner: This one is very much Logan to me. Ik most people headcanon him as having a pretty energetic side to him, but I’ve always clung to a more “reserved” personality personally. (Perhaps because I relate to it lol) It’s mentioned more than once that Logan is colder, more methodical. I think he’d like to connect more but finds it hard sometimes “Connect yet stay opaque, I cannot have it both ways.” Not to mention he lives in his brother’s (and father’s) shadow. He very much watches what he says and does because he has so much to live up to. What he does is never enough, they must think he’s a nuisance right? The little brother and nothing more. There’s always a part of him that nobody will ever see. I imagine it’s suffocating sometimes.

The Weight of Us - Sanders Bohlke: Back to Hesh! Makes me think of how he had to raise both him and Logan. Elias was around, sure, but how present can a military parent really be? The military doesn’t care you want to spend time with your family, they want the job done. Anyway—yeah, I think Hesh very much had to be the adult long before he should’ve. It’s scary to have another life to take care of on top of your own, especially one you hold so dear. I think a lot of the lyrics sound like reassurances, both to himself and Logan. Also, the brothers were always destined to be launched into the military after their father’s footsteps. That’s a lot to live up to on day one as the eldest son.

Hateful - Cane Hill: Fed Logan, my best rageful boy. It think this song captures his fury and slight unhingedness after the pit. Rorke was twisted to believe his best friend abandoned him. Logan was twisted to believe his entire family and squad abandoned him. Talk about a kick to the balls lmfao.

New flag and term coining: Maggotpunk

I coined another term and created a new flag, ya'll! And it's called Maggotpunk!

Simply put, this is an official flag for anybody that's a Slipknot fan and are thus part of the maggot fanbase and community, and are primarily within the metal and punk rock community.

Now for the deeper significance of the flag, the name for the maggots fanbase is credited to both Shawn "Clown" Crahan and the late, great and incomparable Joey Jordison (RIP). According to Clown, he came up with the nickname because he thought the audience looked like writhing maggots when the band performed on stage; also, fans are compared to maggots as a symbolic metaphor, in reference to those who are outcasts on the fringes of society and use the band’s music as a coping mechanism, and feed on the pain depicted in Slipknot songs in the hopes that they will someday transform and move past whatever hard times they’re going through. The music helps them to sprout wings, fly away from the hurt, and then use those wings to come back and birth a new generation of maggots, and then the community continually grows from there. So this flag and term is for maggots who are otherwise marginalized outcasts on the fringes of society, and are within the punk and metal subculture and community (though fans that are also goth, emo, coquette, etc. or any other subculture can use this flag, just as long as you're a Slipknot fan!). This flag also overlaps into traumapunk as Slipknot's music frequently deals with trauma and mental health and the band members, particularly lead frontman Corey Taylor, openly talk about mental health and trauma which are also really big reasons why Slipknot's music resonates with so many people, as there are maggots dealing with trauma and mental health. And with me dealing with mental health isssues, unpacking baggages of various deep and complex traumas in my life and being a marginalized outcast and having deep dived headfirst into the world of Slipknot, their music and artistry has been very cathartic and helpful for me to confront and--in a warped way--embrace the anger, aggression and rage that I've repressed along with the emotional vulnerability and my overall general dark weirdness (and chaotic unhingedness lol) that makes me, me. Granted I was already doing a lot of that inner work as a crucial part of my mental health and trauma recovery journey, but getting into Slipknot's music has certainly made me more confident in acknowledging and embracing myself as a maggotpunk outcast disasterpiece lol. Plus I'm also embracing my inner gothic punk rocker metalhead and while I listen to a lot of other rock and metal bands, Slipknot is the band that brings it out of me the most 😎😎🔥🔥

So to all the maggots and loyal Slipknot fans, this is for you! Maggot for life!

So, first of all how dare you make me laugh at something so dark (but I really did).

I think a lot about how this episode, at that particular moment, is the one and only time we ever got anyone — Buck, Eddie, or any other character — refer to them as "best friends." And he said it about ten minutes (or maybe a few days in show time) before "there's no one in this world I trust with my son more than you," in this episode that was the launch of the love story.

Just thinking how 911 is so precise and intentional, with everything, but especially with Buck and Eddie. No best friends, no uncle Buck (only *his* Buck), and we got the dreaded "brothers" only twice, earlier in Season 2, before everything changed.

I think about this a lot.

i’m glad it made you laugh, friend, because it was indeed a bit dark. (i also think you were the one to point out to me that this was the first and last ‘best friend’ to ever be voiced in relation to buddie which- changed me on a molecular level so yeah, thanks for that.)

it’s just that 9-1-1 doesn’t shy away from defining relationships, ever. and it has nothing to do with labels, rather with the fact that its storytelling needs to give structure and permanency to the deep affection running between characters. spouses, best friends, brothers, sisters, parents, sons. since the show is extremely fast-paced, this solid network of love and its unconditionality is what keeps everything together. and yet, for buck and eddie’s love to not be clearly defined for years is somehow…fitting.

i mean, this last ‘best friend’ happens at the heart of an arc that sees buck clinging with his everything to his ‘firefighter buckley’ persona because he’d feel like nothing without it and it also happens at the emotional climax of the episode chris spent looking specifically for ‘buck’, his buck who couldn’t hear him in the middle of a natural disaster — “are you buck? he was looking for buck”. and for someone like evan buckley? who is so deeply wounded and traumatized that even hearing his own true name touches way too many hidden buttons? it means a lot; names, definitions, roles — they matter . “there’s no one in this world [like you]”, or “there’s - there has been - no one in this world that even has a similar role in my life, no one that exactly compares, so i don’t know what i’m supposed to call you. you are buck.”

and to think that immediately after all of this, when eddie feels lost because he can’t reach out to buck — because he can’t call anyone from the 118 AND he can’t call buck —, buck’s fear is precisely that he’s been replaced by lena (whose name he physically strips off to uncover his own). there’s no one in this world, no one compares, and buck thinks lena — basically a stranger — has what it takes to replace ‘firefighter buckley’ and ‘buck’. thinks he’s expendable like that.

buck and eddie go on by exclusion, work in negatives — ‘what we are not’, ‘i am important if you die; i am necessary if you are not anymore’ — and they haven’t been able to define what they are to each other because eddie always had a problem accepting what he wants - to be, to have - while buck never really knew what to want in the first place.

but they’ll get there.

AAAA! The scene in jail is so very ugly. This story is in many ways about two people who love each other but are their worst selves with each other - lashing out, irrational, unhealthily possessive, codependent, aiming to wound etc etc. Btw, as I was telling @aysekira​, I am reveling that in eps 25-26, we actually see book Tantai Jin with his obsessiveness and pitiable rage and just sheer vast unhingedness and everything. We saw small glimpses in the crow murder scene or the stuff on the boat but this is two eps of it and it’s glorious. And the thing is, you watch this and you see exactly how they got there but you also wonder - where do you go from here, how does either of them move on what they did to the other and what the other did to them?

He hits her with the fireball and the fact that it was an impulse but there is no horror or guilt on his face just heartbreak over the situation shows how irrevocably unfixable this all is.

Both are so wounded and still trying to draw blood. The thing is, they are both so shaped by their past traumas (his abuse and her seeing her world wiped out) that Bingchang barely needed to do anything to mess them up - their traumas did the bulk of the work. Until their traumas are addressed, they can not have a functional relationship. What they had before was obviously better than this, but still not functional in the least.

Hi, I asked you a question before about your opinion on James and Matthew potentially switching personalities. I actually meant I’ve seen it circulating James was supposed to be more like Matthew is in TLH in The Midnight Heir and Matthew more of the charismatic leader who held the friend group together like he seems in Tales From Shadowhunter Academy.

I was curious as Cassandra Clare admitted TLH was set to be her saddest, darkest trilogy yet before she changed her mind. It seemed to me James didn’t seem guaranteed a happy ending with the way he was talked about prior to Chain of Gold by other characters. What’s your take on it?

So it was quite clear in Nothing But Shadows that Matthew was supposed to be the leader of the friend group; James was incredibly intimidated by him in that story anyway. But then Cast Long Shadows happened, and Matthew's life got kinda derailed as he started drinking, and it was time for James to step up.

Now as for James, I believe he was originally supposed to be the perfect sweet gentleman on the outside but with a rage and darkness on the inside that made no real sense in the context of his idyllic life. There was always a hint that James and the TLH gang were going to get a much darker, much sadder. Like I'm gonna break this down a bit more, but James and his unhingedness got watered down.

Just thinking about Qinghe Nie being a sect that’s just weird and hardcore af (I mean they use sabers and die young for power and they qi deviate a lot more than the other sects) and it’s just so astonishing to the other sects. They dismiss it as the Nie sect being just like *that* and when NHS is introduced they’re all like ah a normal Nie wow never thought I’d see the day but then they quickly find out that NHS is just as unhinged as the rest of the sect. NMJ is just so proud of his brother 🥲

I'm thinking back to the fact that I've had two separate stories feature Huaisang and Meng Yao looking like Carrie after the prom after taking Wen Ruohan by surprise and just... imagining the looks on everyone's faces at the realization that these two had enough rage and strength to enact a Hundred-Holes Curse on the most powerful cultivator in the realm the old fashioned way.

I should use that imagery even more often. So much fun.

(There are other ways to play with the unhingedness lurking in him, of course. This was just the first 'absolutely scare the shit out of everyone' that I've actually done that came to mind.)

Kaeya

•   He snaps when you snap - that moment when you laugh in his face and call him pathetic for how hard he tries, yet still fails to be the person you need. Kaeya’s the one who should be finding joy in other’s conflict, and sometimes their suffering, not you. To have those harsh and truthful words shoved in his face in such a familiar manner breaks something inside of him that he didn’t even know existed.

•   Kaeya realizes you’re right, he tries so hard to win you over, despite it being all for naught when his sadistic personality ruins things in the end. It was never supposed to be a problem though - you were supposed to just put up with him, because he refused to give you another option. No relationship is easy after all. And, he hoped that you’d be too scared of him to be so defying.

•   Apparently that isn’t the case when you just keep going, calling him a parasite with how he’s leeched to your side, always ruining your chances of making friends in Mondstadt. Hell, at this point you should just leave the region all together, your reputation being tainted by his presence. 

The second such words fall from your lips, a gloved hand comes down on your face, the sting shooting across your cheek.

“Shut your fucking mouth.”

You’d never heard such desperation in Kaeya’s tone before, never felt his strength first hand. If anything told you of the line you’d crossed, that’d be it. There’s a moment of silence between the two of you, in which you’re inwardly praying he’ll storm off to cool down. You don’t have to look at him to know the look of uncontained rage on his face, and you don’t try upon hearing him draw closer, boots loud against hard tile.

“Here I was thinking you’d finally learnt your place.” He didn’t bother restraining himself, a hand quickly gripping your upper arm in a painful, vice like hold. “Oh, but don’t worry―” with an alarming pace, Kaeya began practically towing you behind him towards your shared bedroom, “―I’ll do whatever is necessary to re-acquaint you, sweetheart.”

Diluc

•   There’s not much you can do to deter Diluc. He’s painfully stubborn, your words not phasing him. He loves you too much to let you go, so there isn’t a single thing you could do or say to sway him. 

•   As such, it’s not really what you do that makes him snap, but what others do. 

•   An injury is what makes Diluc lose all self control. The second he takes his eyes off of you, gives you too much freedom - it nearly costs you your life. 

•   Wherever it is you go down, you’ll still wake up in a place none other than his residence, under the care of personal healers that he pays whatever sum needed to bring you back to good health, and to make sure they keep your condition a secret.

•   Nobody knows where you’ve gone, and he intends to keep it that way. The mere thought of putting you in that kind of danger again, or losing you entirely - nothing makes Diluc more sick. Any length to keep you sealed off from the world isn’t too much, not after seeing you on death’s door. 

•   If you thought he was stubborn, controlling to no ends before, it’s only worsened tenfold now. He never wanted things to go this far, truly wishing for the day he’d have a normal and domestic relationship with you. That’s in the past now though, not even mad at the ways he must keep you in line, so as long as it means you’re safe at the end of the day

You’d actually managed to get pretty far this time, making it all the way to the front entrance of his manor. Unfortunately, your timing couldn’t have been any worse, Diluc swinging open the heavy wooden doors just as you reached for the handle. 

It’s okay, you told yourself, there’ll always be a next time.

Now, as you plead for Diluc to calm down, having been sent into a fit if fiery rage seeing you outside your room, you're not too sure there will be a next time.

Finally, the man stills, taking a moment before regarding you with a glare that could kill. “No more chances - if you even so much as think of pulling something like this again, I’ll hurt you so bad you won’t be able to take a single step without my help.”

Childe

•   Childe needs your attention like he needs to breathe. It’s unfortunate that his duties as a Harbinger often keep him away from you, and so the time he does get to spend in your presence is very precious. 

•   You learn quickly how he thrives off of getting a reaction from you, of being close and the feeling of your body against his. Depriving him of that is the only way to get to him. Childe doesn’t care all that much if you hate him, so as long as you’re not focusing on anyone else. 

•   At first, he’ll take you ignoring him as a challenge. A battle for dominance that he must win. And he tries hard in that battle - Childe is nothing if not a determined fighter. He might start out with innocent means to garner your attention, but that won’t last long. 

•   His constant teasing is bad, the far too intimate touches and heavily suggestive words whispered softly in your ear - but it’s nothing compared to the measures Childe will take should you continue to pretend he doesn’t exist. 

•   Starting fights with innocent people right in front of you, slaughtering his own soldiers should they disobey him - if it gets a reaction, he’s happy. Except he doesn’t realize it’s just pushing you away more. 

•   He snaps when you do the worst thing possible - try and leave him all together. 

Even being the hardened warrior Childe is, he still gave pause from the intense emotional shock when you were nowhere to be seen in your shared bedroom. Hours later, his heart still beat a thousand miles per minute. He’d personally tracked you down, carried you home and chained you up.

You were finally paying attention to him, and he suspected it had something to do with the bloodbath you witnessed on the way back. Well, there was that, and the deep set look of unhingedness in Childe’s eyes. 

He knew what he was doing - how he was scaring you. It’s not like it wasn’t obvious - what with the way you were shaking like a leaf in his lap. You both knew what was coming, how he’d make you regret ever leaving him, which likely made the wait the worst part.

For now, he wanted to bask in the effect he has on you. Of how it makes him feel powerful, seen after so long of being disregarded. 

His perfect little darling, not a thought in your mind that didn’t revolve solely around Childe.
