i see all these comments talking about this after the new episode, but. i would like to state for the record that stolitz isn't. toxic.

first off, the concept of a toxic and a healthy relationship are such... vague terms. when you're online, drenched in language and tight moral boundaries, trying to put a nuanced story like helluva boss's into boxes is easy to attempt and impossible to do.

a toxic relationship is one where one or both parties is maliciously affecting the other. I'm talking fetid, nasty, rude interactions where there is more hurt than love. they're unhappy more often than not when they're with their partner, there's no respect or give from the other side.

stolitz is nothing like that.

Stolas actively cares about Blitz and actually has no fear or hesitation in ADMITTING IT OUT LOUD TO OZZIE. he has been calling, texting, commenting, laughing and finding ways to spend time with Blitz. he's throwing everything he has to the wind, finding the courage to move forward with the divorce, putting everything he has into trying to keep him. he's been alone in a palace since he was born, on medication, with such less people dear to him that he remembered the circus boy who spent a day with him DECADES ago- so when blitz comes into his life and brings back in laughter and color and sex, he's holding on with everything he's got.

and blitz does care!!! he cares a LOT, the whole series we see him falling in love with stolas through SHOW NOT TELL (his expressions, his choices, his fear, his lashing out) and utterly unable to process that stolas cares about him too when talking to fizz; almost a desperate kind of denial-

cause yknow. the first time he tried to confess something to someone he really liked, he accidentally killed half the people he knew and ruined the lives of the rest?

thats gonna leave just a teensy impact on the will to express your emotions in the future, methinks.

even before that, he clearly felt like on some level that he was unworthy and he's said twice that he despises himself for the accident even though it wasn't actually his fault. being self aware doesn't stop the emotions from emotioning.

he keeps insisting its only sex so urgently to anyone who doesn't ask because he can't even imagine it being anything else. he's both disappointed and relieved when he repeats that stolas sees him as a novelty, because what else can it be?

(there's a whole other spiel of how brave both Stolas and Blitz have to be to say it out loud even when asmodeus can't afford to, considering how publically and completely beaten down both were at the club.)

(there's also another whole spiel about how frustrating it has been for ME to see all these comments over time with such bad takes based on like,, 20 min worth of info of a show that takes months to release an ep. like godDAMN have some patience?? let the story UNFOLD MAYBE? IT WAS ALWAYS GOING TO HAVE AN EXPLANATION WHY WOULD YOU CRITICIZE THINGS THAT ARENT EVEN FINISHED ESPECIALLY AN INDIE ANIMATION- i digress)

mind you, this has NOTHING to do with abuse. an abusive relationship is one where one is actively harming the other with full awareness. Stella is an abuser and their marriage is abusive.

and stolitz isn't that; it isn't even unhealthy or toxic. it's a consensual, transactional fuckbuddy relationship that slid into something more for both of them.

but!!!!! one of the main reasons for the problems that everyone looks over is-

they're in a BDSM relationship.

I can't possibly delve into dynamics without making this a 10k research paper BUT even though we've gotten only hints and costumes and dialogue- they're very clearly and undeniably in a BDSM contract. Behind the scenes of this crazy show is a whole different story, of these two delving into the most hardcore kinks out there- knifeplay, painplay, bondage.

if you've gotten into the community, if you've read a couple dozen particularly good fics by authors who know what they're talking about, hell; even if your only experience is fifty shades or 365 or whatever- you gotta know that BDSM scenes are crazy fucking emotionally heavy. there's so much that has gone down between them during their full moons that helluva can't get into!!

but you know how in so many of these popular medias and fics, the dom in the relationship is also like,, the billionaire/mafia heir/prince, etc, the one with financial and physical power? this isnt that. it has been very clearly stated that stolas is subbing, blitz is domming.

now take a moment and think about how much that fucks up the dynamics.

in stolas' eyes, blitz is a confident, dangerous individual who's an old friend and cherished memory of his, who he's trusted wholly with his safety during sex and he's lucky to have; and he has been in an abusive arranged marriage for the past eighteen Years, he's probably not going to be pushing his luck with his dom that much in the first place. plus, blitz is never cowed by him during their conversations- think back to the first phone call right after he stole the book, completely unafraid.

and for blitz, it's someone trusting him again- but it's also a royal- a blue blood who's nearly untouchable and so much more powerful- who couldn't possibly like a piece of shit like him, apart from the sex he gets out of it. he only flirts once he gets some sort of cue from Stolas; he's desperately trying to view this as only a Goetia trying to get his rocks off, despite all the evidence to the contrary, because anything else is unfathomable to him, no matter how clearly Stolas shows it, because of the ptsd.

both of them thinks the other has the power. both of them aren't expecting the other to keep shut if something's bothering them.

and there's so much conflicting messages from the other too!

stolas calls him a plaything when trying to intimidate the humans; stolas cups his face gently and asks if he's alright

blitz asks him on a date and tells him to get better soon; blitz yells that it's only sex and doesn't reply to his messages

ya see?

bring it to fizzozzie for a second now; even though they do look all good on surface, you can still see fizz's trauma and doubt in all their interactions, they're still forced to keep the relationship secret. do you see his face when Ozzie says in hyperbole that he's never leaving the house again, or when someone accuses him of being a pampered house pet or when he got sexualized in the 7th ep? whatever happened in the interim between the accident with mammon, it fucked him UP. even though oz seems to be well aware of this when he tells him not to apologise and in their general interactions, fizz still visibly has trouble separating plaything/commodity from healthy relationship.

shout the fuck out to Ozzie btw, man knows whats UP. rooting for these two so much omg.

i forgot where I was going with this point, I'll edit it when i remember. but yeah! lovely fucking relationship, but damn what angst filled issues.

anyway, to sum up- stolitz is not a toxic relationship. the relationship is stuck sludging through misunderstandings and careless microaggressions and trauma responses, but it's not unhealthy or toxic because of the simple reason that most of the current hurt comes from... a misunderstanding. stolas didn't realise blitz would need reassurance about what they were and blitz didn't see stolas as someone who could get hurt.

unecessarily calling it toxic, even online, is more impactful than people think too. almost all spindlehorse ARE on all social medias; so MANY YouTube animators i know have found jobs there; they see your words, especially since a lot don't tag posts with "anti hb" correctly to keep them out of the main tag. there are Very few queer medias made BY queer people that haven't gone through heavy corporate revisions- helluva boss is practically a historical landmark in its success. it's very very very fucking easy to forget that not ten years ago some of the only queer videos on YouTube were butter lover (one kiss at the end post credits), dirty paws and welcome to hell (subtext).

the amount of "critical talk" helluva boss gets for what it is is very unprecedented. it's a beautiful show. can't wait for the next episode.

You frown at the pill bottles lined up on your counter. Your pill-minder was empty and waiting to be filled up, but seeing all your medications lined up like this stirred something inside you.

You know they're all necessary, they all help you in some way or another. But…

"Love?" Zayne steps into the bathroom, resting a gentle hand on your arm and trying to meet your eyes. "What's wrong?"

You sigh. You hate it when you feel like this. You hate burdening Zayne with your health in his work life and his day-to-day life.

"There's so many..."

He looks down at the counter. Most of these were prescriptions he filled out himself, all of the names were immediately familiar as well as their purposes. "Does the amount bother you?" he asks. His mind is already working to figure out how to narrow down the amount of medications you take, to find medicines that act as a combination for what he's prescribed.

You shake your head and begin opening the days of your pill-minder. You pop each one open slowly, like moving any faster would accidentally detonate a bomb.

He begins opening the pill bottles and dropping the doses into each compartment.

"I'll never be healthy, will I?"

The question gives him pause. He stops his task, watching you instead. Your frown causes a crease to form between your brows; makes your eyes seem more tired than they are. It takes on the bone-deep exhaustion you've been carrying ever since you were first prescribed long-term medication.

He finishes dosing out the first bottle of pills, before closing it and setting it back in the lineup. Your frown only seems to deepen as you stare at it. "My love..." He cups your cheek tenderly, cool palm soothing the upset bubbling under your skin as he turns your face, urging you to look at him. "Needing medicine is not a failure, and it doesn't mean you're unhealthy."

Your eyes flicker from his own to go searching his face and back. The way he looks at you is so intensely caring, it makes it hard for you to meet head on for too long. "But I need them because my body isn't... right."

"No body is perfect," he rebuts. "I have never met a single patient who has not had at least one issue."

"Yeah, but all your patients see you because they have issues."

He chuckles. "Most of them, but you forget I am also a primary care physician to some. No matter what shape my patients are in, there is always something that impacts their life because their body can't or doesn't provide it."

You stare at his chin. He brushes his thumb across your cheek, encouraging you to look up at him again.

"You still don't believe me."

You meet his eyes again, caught red handed. He's known you for so long, of course he should be the one to know what you're feeling with just one glance. You look apologetic, though. "I'm sorry, I want to, I just..."

"Just...?"

"I wish I didn't have so many issues." You close your eyes and lean into him. He meets you halfway, resting his forehead against yours.

He wishes there was some way for him to magically cure all your issues. Some may go away with time, but with time also brought new problems. He pulls away briefly to kiss your forehead, a quiet promise of solidarity.

He sees a small grin begin to form on your lips. "Thank you for making a house call, Dr. Zayne."

He chuckles. "It's outside of my usual job requirements, but I'm happy to make an exception, just this once."

"Guess I shouldn't get too used to it, then, huh?"

"Hm. Fortunately, my marital oath as your husband dictates that I care for you in sickness and in health." He gently pulls away. You open your eyes and watch as he opens the second bottle and continues to refill your pill case. "And as your husband, I'm always happy to take care of you."

Your small grin slowly breaks into a smile. The weight is still there. You think it always will be. But Zayne has taken some of it off your shoulders for now, carrying the burden of your health just as you would for him if the circumstances were reversed.

You lean up to kiss his cheek. He smiles, not looking away from his work as he finishes up the second bottle. You take the third. The cap pops off and the pills jostle around inside. They fall into the sections with a repetitive sound, a percussion to a silent song as Zayne grabs the fourth bottle.

You can start to hear the melody when he leans down to kiss your cheek.

• He only has one thing left to do. He knows there's really only one thing left he can do for you.

• The public will find his body strung over a gravesite with your name on it the very next morning after everything came to it's close on his plans, a bouquet of your favorite flowers, a newspaper with an article on HADAL's corruption on the cover, and whatever little treasures you'd given him over the years in his still, clawed hands

• And for the first time since you left him:

Buck has spent the past 8 years acting like sex is taboo and wrong for him, specifically because he was Buck 1.0

In season 2, he apologizes to Taylor because he "isn't that guy anymore" after Taylor comes onto him. He has had shitty relationship after shitty relationship because he is looking for an answer in these people that he is simply never going to find in them.

I saw a post sometime ago about how Buck looks to other people to ask for reassurance in his own feelings. "Am I lonely?" "Am I at peace?" "How do you know?"

But he does this in other ways, too. He told Tommy that he feels comfortable in his own skin Because Tommy is comfortable with who Tommy is. That's just another way for Buck to find validation in what he feels.

That's why Tommy broke up with him. You can accuse Tommy of a lot of things, but he is at least self-aware. He hears Buck ask him to move in, not because Buck loves him and wants him around but because he makes Buck "comfortable," and personally, no one deserves to be kept around as a validation device.

That's what makes Tommy say Buck will break his heart. That's why Tommy leaves. It's parallel to Buck asking Taylor to move in with him. Except Tommy is older and listening to what Buck is saying.

Buck told Taylor "I thought I could learn to live with it."

and he told Josh, "I could see a future with him."

And that's where some of you got lost. He doesn't see a future with Tommy, but he thinks he could—hypothetically—because Buck wants a future with someone.

Taylor Kelly and Tommy Kinard have the same blueprint relationship with Buck. Kelly is her middle name. He was engaged to Abby. Things Buck finds out way too late into the relationship because he goes with the flow and doesn't talk to the people he dates.

Which brings me back to #LetBuckFuck. Now, sex is morally neutral. Having sex with 100 people doesn't make you a degenerate, and only having had sex with one person doesn't make you a saint. Also, neither means you have a healthy relationship with sex.

Bobby made a point to Buck that a bunch of random hook-ups wouldn't fill the whole Buck feels in his chest, and Buck internalized that to mean if he didn't have a hook-up at all, he would eventually find the thing that did fill that hole. Which theoretically could work.

Except Buck missed the part where the reason why hook-ups don't fill the hole isn't that hook-ups are bad. It is that the hole has to be filled from the things within.

The sex had nothing to do with it. Now, it's been 8 years and 5 failed relationships later and Buck is still working under a false presumption.

Some people found Oliver's call for Buck to fuck to mean he wants Buck to regress. But failed to see that Buck is actually still a stupid lil punk putting whatever fits into the square hole.

Let Buck Fuck. Let Buck realize his worth isn't in other people. Let Buck realize he can have sex, and his worth isn't tied to it AT ALL.

Stop being like Buck. Stop letting Buck's relationships define him.

Chapter 68 is exceptional! I really love the composition and the way the emotions are shown. We really get a bit of everything in this chapter: joy, sadness, relief, fear, frustration, anger.

The chapter finally tells us what happened during the Ririka scandal. Taiga allowed Sousuke to have a break from his daily worries, and it was thanks to this that Sousuke was able to endure his mother's scolding.

Taiga talks to Sousuke about what happened to his parents when he decided to stop his acting lessons. He tells Sousuke that he and his parents fought because they expected him to become a celebrity. Ironically, Taiga will do to Sousuke what his parents did to him.

He introduces Sousuke to his friends, emphasizing that he has the potential to become a future star.

Then comes the day of the scandal: Ririka decides to follow Sousuke without listening to him when he tries to dissuade her. Sousuke's mother learns that her son is involved in the scandal, which makes her very angry. Sousuke tries to explain himself, seeing that his mother has the wrong idea, but she believes that he and Ririka have been drinking and refuses to believe him. She even goes so far as to think that it was he who incited Ririka to follow him.

Maybe I'm over-interpreting, but it really gave me the impression that Sousuke's mother distrusts men to the point of not believing in her own son and imagining that he could have manipulated a young girl. I don't know about you, but I think it makes sense in the light of her experience.

Sousuke, on his side, desperately tries to talk to her, but she won't listen. She doesn't see the state her son is in… Sousuke touched me so much in this passage You can see how much he'd like his mother to listen and notice him.

It's so nice to see Mitsumi and Sousuke working together again, just like when they were class reps. When Sousuke recalls the fight they had together, Mitsumi is embarrassed, but Sousuke isn't. He even says it made him happy. Indeed, for him, a fight is a way of communicating, of sharing his feelings openly. And that's what he would have liked to do with his mother.

Just as Taiga had done with his parents. This was Sousuke's idea of a healthy parent-child relationship.

When he preaches a bit to Mitsumi, she tells him he looks like a mother. This makes Sousuke realize that Mitsumi is not like him. She, unlike him, had a good relationship with her mother. But despite their differences, he wants to stay with her 💛

The end of the chapter is too emotional. Sousuke continues to move forward. He accepts his past and the monster in him. Sousuke finally begins to accept himself 💛

Despite having mixed feelings on Alastor, I think these two are just so cute. Either as a couple or just queer platonic partners, I don't care. Rosie seems to be the only person to make Alastor genuinely smile, and she's the only one who can touch him. There's a special bond there I really like

8) Verosika Mayday x Wally Wackford

So this is the biggest crack ship on this list, but I think in theory, it's so cute. I really want Verosika to be happy, and Wally, despite being a bit of a scammer, is really sweet. I'm totally cool with Verosika ending up with Barbie as well, but I slightly prefer Wally. I wonder if they will have more interactions in future episodes.

7) Fizzmodeus

Is this controversial? Probably. I know Fizzarolli and Asmodeus are so loved in this fandom, so putting them at number 7 is awful...but they aren't my favorite. I do like them, and I think they're really cute! I just have ships I like more, but that doesn't take away how sweet these two can be. Sometimes obnoxiously sweet heh. So yeah, no disrespect to these two

6) M&M

So these two were at first kinda meh for me, but over time, I've grown to love them. They have a pretty healthy relationship, and I always hate when someone bothers Millie for marrying Moxxie or saying Moxxie isn't a good enough husband. These two clearly love and respect each other and clearly grow together with every episode.

5) Staticmoth

Like I said, I love an evil couple. Valentino is a monster, and Vox is deplorable. That doesn't stop me from loving them as a couple and thinking they are cute. I think they both should die, but also would be sad cause come on, they're cute together.

4) Cherrisnake

I love Sir Pentious, I love Cherri Bomb, so obviously, them together is a fun pair. I shipped these two before the show came out and was so excited to see Pen having a crush on Cherri. They kinda remind me of the early versions of M&M, but they need a lot more time. Cherri isn't ready to accept love, and Sir Pentious is well...in a different world. I can't wait to see these two develop and become an actual couple.

3) Adamsapple

So this and Lucilith could be here. Lucifer being happy is the main objective, and its Adamsapple is so fun. They clearly have a history, and there's a lot of feelings. If Adam comes back in season 2, I'd love to see this be fleshed out. I doubt they'd be a couple, but maybe friends? Who knows. I'm fine with this one not being canon, and just something fun in the fandom

2) Stolitz

Stoltiz is pretty important to me because it really got me involved in the fandom. I've been watching Helluva Boss since the beginning, but episode one of season two had me from casual watcher to actual fan. Blitzø is one of the characters I really relate to, and Stolas is just a really well written character. I love the development of these two and they are worth waiting for. oh i'm so flattered to hear you like reading my opinions !! and i'm so sorry it took me so long to get to this ask !! and also i'm so grateful you sent me this meaty ass question to sink my teeth into, i'm sorry if i went off the deep end a lil but i LOVE thinking about things like this !! it opens up such a philosophical can of worms in my brain is probably not at all what you wanted or expected but i have to live my truth, i hope you understand <3

so in my view, you very much can love someone without trusting them. you can love someone without even liking them. you can love someone and treat them like shit. you can love someone and have nothing to do with them at all. this is bc, as far as i see it, love as a feeling and love as an action and love as a relationship (of any kind) are three different, separate, distinct things that don't necessarily overlap. in order to have a functional, healthy relationship all three need to be in alignment ofc, but love in and of itself as an emotion and feeling we have for someone/something can and does exist in isolation from literally everything else. it's why we can still love someone who a bad person, who treats us badly, or why we can love someone and still treat them badly. it's why we can love people who aren't there anymore, or stop loving people who are still in our lives, loving us. love the feeling and love the action aren't the same thing.

which kind of opens up into a bigger conversation about unconditional love, right? like some people believe in unconditional love and some think it's not actually possible - love always has conditions. i disagree. i think unconditional love is real, but i think people don't know how to recognise the difference between love the feeling and love the action and love as a relationship, or if they do then they don't know how to differentiate where one ends and another begins. so it becomes a whole thing of like 'well unconditional love can't exist while still having boundaries or limits' but that's not true. just because you love someone doesn't mean you have to put up with any kind of bullshit behaviour. putting in boundaries or even cutting someone out of your life completely doesn't negate love the feeling. you can love someone unconditionally and never want to see them again in your life because those are two separate things.

and that circles back to your question: how can kant love bison when he doesn't trust him? how can he love someone he's scared of? and my answer is that love the feeling exists outside of logic and sense. bc you're right - logically kant had no reason to love bison. sure bison was pretty and fun to be around and great in bed, but he's also a murderer. he's a hitman. he's violent. he's capable of things beyond comprehension. kant is very, very aware of all of that. and even more than all of that, kant knows bison is his ticket to freedom. logic dictates that you don't fall in love with the man standing between you and your - and more importantly, your baby brother's - future. kant loving bison jeapordises everything he worked so hard for. it puts his and babe's life at risk in every sense of the word. who tf is gonna fall in love with bison, knowing all of that?

but love exists outside the realm of logic. you can't reason with love. you can't sit love down and go 'no, not him, it can't be him, anyone but him'. if you could i'm sure everyone's lives would be so much easier, and our hearts would be a lot less damaged. but we can't. love does what it wants. in a lot of ways humans are completely at the mercy of love (or its lack), and i could go on a whole nother tangent about that but i'll spare you that one lmao. but my point is this: kant loved bison because he couldn't help it. he tried so, so hard not to, but you can control love about as well as you can control the sea, which is to say you can't. kant did love bison, and he did it because he had no choice. if he did, he never would have chosen bison.

BUT although love the feeling kind of exists in isolation, we as people don't. and so although kant couldn't help but fall in love with bison, he's also not an idiot. he knows it's stupid and dangerous. he knows bison isn't to be trusted. he knows exactly what bison is capable of, what he could do to him and to babe if he found out the truth. just bc your logical brain has no say in what love does, that doesn't mean it stops functioning. so yeah kant falls more in love w bison with every moment they spend together, but that doesn't stop the alarm bells ringing in his head going STOP! DANGER! ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID! kant knows he's stupid. he expresses that he's stupid for feeling the way he does about bison. but he also knows he can't help it. which is why he was so desperate (and by extension reckless) about finishing the job and getting away from bison asap. he knew what was happening, and he knew he couldn't stop it from happening unless someone or something else stopped it for him.

and so you end up with kant, falling head over heels with bison, and yet not trusting him either. kant who loves bison and is still deeply scared of him. yknow?

i hope this made sense and answered your question at least a little bit. i realise i took a bit of a detour to get to my point but i feel like in order to explain my thought process properly i had to kind of explain my philosophy on love. which is probably overkill but i hope it gave you some food for thought at least ! and thank you again for coming to me w this, it was so much fun to chew on <3

Some thoughts on Daryl's romantic life

This post about Daryl and Connie by @theyreunderadumpster made me think about how disappointed i was in both of Daryl's romantic storylines and how much potential was wasted.

Now i can't stop thinking about it. I actually think they could still do something with this. There is still potential. Maybe Daryl had feelings for Connie? Maybe even some initial attraction to Jesus.

He has grown as a person so much from where he started. He now has a family that loves him and doesn't abuse him, so he knows how to be a part of a family and how to show he cares, he's gained some confidence and knows better how to handle his feelings. These things he has gained by exposure.

But he has never really had much exposure to a healthy, loving relationship. His father was abusive to his mother and she died when he was young. I doupt Merle has had any healthy relationships. Carol and Ed, the whole Rick, Lori and Shane situation, Andrea and The Governor. Negan's wives.

There are some good relationships around him, sure, but most of those have ended in tragic ways. And he doesn't have any personal experience. So he hasn't really grown in that area. Then they meet Jesus and he feels a pang of attraction.

And it terrifies him to the core.

He reverts back to the angry, scared season 1 Daryl, just glaring at Paul because what the hell is happening right now. Why do i wanna smell his hair? He doesn't know how to process these feelings.

In that episode he acts very much like he did in season 1. He glares and pouts and chases jesus around because he's so annoyed that this smug prick made him feel like that. And he's so petty and sassy, just like in the early seasons.

Then the saviors happened and Rick died and he met Leah. He's grown a lot in that time and actually processes his feelings somehow. He's still clueless on how to proceed (put the fish down, babe), but he manages to still form an actual relationship with this woman. But he get's so scared when things start to get serious and she asks him about their future and he runs. Then he manages to process some of this fear and he changes his mind and comes back, but she's gone.

And then that whole reaper shit happens and he is so fucked up and is convinced that there are no happy endings in relationships.

So when he finds himself falling for Connie, he's just like nope, nuh uh, not for me sir, we're friends. It's not like that. Even tough i learned a fucking language for her. Friends because it will end badly otherwise.

He leaves The Commonwealth to find Rick and Michonne and finds himself in France. He meets Isabelle. He feels lost, doesn't know if he'll ever see his family again. He helps Isabelle and Laurent and grows to care about them. He feels like he's a part of something again. Part of a group, a family. He has a purpose. His feelings for Isabelle scare him at first but then he thinks about Jesus. About Leah and Connie.

He still thinks about the way he felt when he met Jesus. He sometimes wonders what could have been if he wasn't so damn scared. He wonders if things would've ended differently if he'd stayed with Leah at the cabin. What if he had asked Connie to that dance? If he'd kissed her on those train tracks.

He goes for it. And then it ends badly. But he realizes he doesn't regret it. They had good memories. It hurt to lose her, but he still has the memories and he doesn't regret any of them. He had a moment of happiness even if it ended badly. He still would've felt the same pain when she died even if he didn't go for it, but then there would be regret too. What if's and almosts.

So after he and Carol are done with their Europe tour and they get back to America and back to The Commonwealth, their family is there waiting for them. Connie too. And he sees her after so long and he feels like a complete fucking moron for not going for it earlier because his legs still feel like noodles when their eyes meet.

So he goes for it.

that relief sigh when seunghyo finally said his honest thought to seokryu just the perfect moment for this episode. he was frustrated and mostly hurt because he feels that seokryu didn't consider him at all before having the thought to go back to america. we can all agree that he probably having the hardest time when she had to go there the first time. because he already loves her at that time, but the way seokryu said that it's not easy for her as well and i just LOVE how they communicate properly and being honest to each other.

they argue with each other calmly and trying to understand it. seunghyo express his feeling and being honest that although he doesn't agree with hiding their relationship, he tried to understand it from her POV. but when he found out that she was researching about cooking school in america (that was suggested by her ex-fiancee) of course he would feel hurt and angry. they had just started dating and it was not easy especially for him to change their status from friend to lover. some might argue that she has full authority for her own future and seunghyo can't stop her from that. I'll just call that B.S. we are talking about the guy who had always follows her decision and tried to understand her and waits until she reciprocate his feeling in her own time. you can't do this to him, NOT HIM. go mad at someone else.

anyway....

and seokryu. instead of running away like how she always did, she told him the truth. that she feels like she is not good enough for him and eventhough he told her that he loves her not because of her achievement, she can't be satisfied with that. she had always been the best and after experiencing failure, she can't handle it. that's why she felt inferior. she wanted to stand proudly next to her boyfriend, but except from her bright and shining past, she had nothing else to be proud off in the moment.

the whole conversation was so wholesome eventhough makes my heart's ache for them. i just love seeing how healthy it is to just be honest and argue while calmly expressing their own thought and feeling

i just feel kinda nervous that they kept mentioning death, mourning and already a few scenes of visiting cemetery. its like they're hinting us that there will be a death towards the end. just like how this same writer killed off gam-ri halmeoni in homcha. i just hope its not seokryu because i can't imagine what will happen to seunghyo if that happens.

Agree 100%. But, to further expand that, and going outside the world of the show.

From a GA perspective, or the audience full stop, how many partners are we willing to watch before we lose interest? By this I mean - if the writers are spending screen time / several episodes introducing a new character and a new relationship, usually we get invested. And when that person disappears, it can be frustrating, and the introduction of a new person (thus the start of the cycle again), can feel a bit tiring. Every time they need to find something that makes the audience go: okay, it’s worth for me to care about this character.

Buck’s case is a bit particular, because his relationships haven’t been all that well received (until now). Either it was an ‘okay’ situation, without much interest, or an okay reception but controversial at times (for me, Taylor - I do think the GA was okay with her, but ultimately the couple was not good). Tommy has been imo the first relationship that truly has brought in lots of positive and good reviews and a good investment of attention from fans and even GA. Tommy’s clips in any social media are usually the ones with most views, and in things like IG it goes to talk about the GA more than a focused fandom.

This to say - if Buck was to break up with Tommy, I think a lot of the audience would be frustrated or even grow bored of the constant change of partners. Even, they would be less receptive to a future new partner, because if Tommy (so well received) is gone, who would even stay?

Not to say this means Tommy is Buck’s endgame, because no one knows. But at some point the constant change of partners gets old, and we know Tim agrees when he expressed wanting to get Buck off the hamster wheel (something Oliver agreed on), and Tommy is a really strong character to have Buck settle with.

Long story short: not only from a SL perspective, but Bucktommy being long lasting makes sense for the overall image of the show.

bc if we think about bucktommy in terms of it being Buck's relationship aka. a main character's relationship, enough is enough on dragging him from illfit to illfit - that guy deserves to be settled, at ease in himself, as Bobby once told him, and we've already seen Tommy help make that happen for him.

and if we look back at Buck's relationship history: we're 7 years into poor matches for a guy who has always wanted to love and be loved - and Tommy can be that for him! he has been that for him so far and could so easily fit into the narrative as Buck's significant other moving forward indefinitely. Tommy already feels like the missing piece to Buck's story the same way Karen was for Hen and Maddie was for Chim and Athena was for Bobby - and he's a fleshed out character in his own right just as those partners are.

enough screwing around with Buck's relationships. sometimes it feels like just bc he started out as a fuckboy he somehow doesn't deserve a stable, healthy, loving relationship, like the narrative is going out of its way to ruin any chance he has at that for the sake of drama (but again: none of his previous partners were the right match for him).

i'm going to mention dear dean winchester again bc he has so much in common with Buck, and these kinds of characters (male, strong, macho, attractive, swagger, charming, sexually active, presumably bisexual) always cycle through relationships that never pan out - bc they're not the right fit, but moreover bc these partners seem written in just to be eventually written out, there to help the main character's plot along, aid in some personal growth and add drama, maybe attract more viewership for those interested in seeing more (temporary) female characters.

but it is.. *sigh* tiresome, indeed. let Buck have a stable partner - like Hen, and Chim, and Bobby do - and let their relationship be woven into the narrative to create a richer tapestry like those other pairings do. that is so much more satisfying in terms of storytelling and character growth, than trying to insert drama snags that threaten to unravel things. you can still have drama with committed pairings - every other committed pairing in the show is proof of that.

and if we take off the shipper googles: Tommy is good as Buck's partner, he makes sense, and he has great potential in the longrun both as Buck's boyfriend/husband and as his own character within the wider narrative of the show. he's a natural fit, but he's also entertaining and he has history with most of the main characters already.

i really do see Tommy as Buck's endgame btw, bc they work so well together as a pairing but also as independant characters. BUT i wouldn't be mad about them breaking up/taking a break (as i mentioned in that post: uncertainty about having kids; a potential permanent job position out of state) and then come back together stronger for it. we saw it happen with Henren (but i don't want to see cheating with our boys bc it doesn't fit who they are) so we know if they do breakup it doesn't have to be permanent - and i actually would love the mirror to Buck's first serious relationship where Abby leaves him - only Tommy comes back to him.

okay, a couple things on alien stage/ivantill that I think some folks maybe need to consider and internalize.

Till does not "need" to return Ivan's feelings in the slightest if he doesn't feel that way. It's heart wrenching to see Ivan love him and have those feelings unreturned, but please remember that no one is required to return romantic feelings for someone else. You can't make yourself love someone, and you shouldn't. Especially out of guilt or obligation. That's Unhealthy 101, and would only set a relationship up for failure. (I do think Till cared about Ivan, and that he's going to have a Guilt Complex based on the fact that he didn't fully notice Ivan's feelings/care toward him until the guy died, but I've seen a couple of people tear into Till for not noticing/reciprocating Ivan's feelings??? Don't do that??? their situation is shitty, the fact that they didn't get to talk is shitty, but please don't blame Till for things he Can't Control.)

The kiss was not consensual. It wasn't meant to be portrayed as such. It wasn't even really romantic, it was a desperate, selfish act that Ivan used to get Till's attention (in more ways than one) and to give himself some sense of closure before he died. It was him saying everything that he felt at once, with no chance for Till to reciprocate or deny the affection. In a perfect world, they could have talked instead of this, maybe kissed knowing both wanted it, or given Till a chance to refuse. But they're both in the middle of an essential death tournament and one of them is going to be murdered sometime in the next few minutes. Neither of them really wants to live, but Ivan feels he has unfinished business before his sacrifice, so he finishes it. Their situation sucks. That doesn't mean the kiss was consensual. (especially considering the theory/implication that Till was/is being sexually assaulted by aliens, I wouldn't be surprised if this affects him badly in the future, for multiple reasons. Everyone should always get the chance to say "no" and have that fully respected. This also extends to the fact that Ivan died for Till without giving him a chance to stop it, which is probably going to mess with Till's head a lot. Then again, Ivan likely didn't think it would affect Till much because as far as he/we know, the feelings aren't reciprocated in this moment in canon, or are extremely repressed. Ivan might believe that Till simply hates him, or the kiss/subsequent "choking" may have been a way of trying to make Till hate him so that his death wouldn't hurt as much. Of course that thinking is flawed, because it would hurt Till no matter what, but still, it makes me sad)

Ivan... is kinda messed up. I adore him, but we've got to acknowledge that he has little to no emotional and relationship maturity due to the fact that he was quite literally raised as a pet and learned at a young age to do whatever his masters said to keep himself safe and pain-free. His fascination with Till appears to largely stem from Till's sense of rebellion. Ivan's examples of relationship dynamics and what constitutes as "love" is dangerously unbalanced, and he does not know how to build a healthy relationship. (Neither of them do.) This is also built onto the fact that the person he became dependent on only paid attention to him when they were fighting or Ivan was annoying him. Ivan cares about Till desperately, but he is also dangerously reliant on him to the point of self-detriment. Again, in an ideal world, they would be able to get out of this situation and gradually make a healthy relationship/friendship (depending on Till's feelings) over time while starting to undo the dangerous relationship patterns that they fell into when they didn't have any way to know better. But they're in a terrible situation, and Ivan really just doesn't get the chance to grow as a person and realize that his sense of possessiveness and reliance on Till's attention isn't healthy.

Basically, their situation makes me want to sob and its heart wrenching. Their circumstances have set them up for failure. Both of them are in the midst of attempting to survive an abusive situation and massive amounts of dehumanization. I beg, please try not to sanitize their complicated relationship or blame either of them for the pain the other is going through. I've seen some of that going around, and it's making me sad :(
