This is a very vague question, but do you have an advice on writing? I really enjoy reading your fanfiction! I want to practice more but sometimes it’s difficult to move beyond an idea to actual prose.

This is so sweet and deeply flattering. Thank you SO much for reading and enjoying!! it is all I could ever want to write fun fics that appeal to the mutuals ❤️

As for advice on moving past the ideas stage I have the same problem and it's literally the hardest part of writing to me. Those executives do NOT function at all in my brain. To get anything done I have to just set a timer for myself for like 20-45 minutes and tell myself there are no bad ideas and I can just write Anything as long as it relates to my fic. So I will often start with a couple paragraphs that sort of lay out the general concept then move on to some bullet points with a few sentences describing scenes I think I might need. THEN I write the easy parts of the scenes, like the dialogue. Then I flesh them out. Then I typically have one long burst of writing where I go crazy and throw everything I can think of in and stay up all night. Then I go to bed, wake up, usually send it to my beloved beta, and edit several times. And THAT is the process.

I think the main thing I have to do is give myself permission to write things that are bad. I can make it better later. If I ever have an idea I'm not sure about because I think it might be too much I make sure to write that one. Idk

I have never played a video game and I am training for this like a Couch to 5K

I've started attempting to play Silent Hill 2 and it is... going slowly. I wanted to record gameplay with voice commentary and that is going even slower (slowlier?). I am still learning how to use various software(s) and get a borrowed mic attuned to various volume levels and also the aspect ratio of the game is off no matter how I try to match the screen dimensions but that is simply one more tribulation in a long series that I have endured. My mom's motto is "Work the problem." If nothing else, I have gained new skills. We persevere.

ANYWAY I was in the parking lot (of the game. Not just, like. Here) just trying to learn the controls and I started shouting so I grabbed my phone and turned on Voice Memo and now we have some rough audio (my voice only) of Baby's First Video game. If you would like to hear those (with artisan hand-formatted transcripts. Sometimes I use sPonGeBoB case), they're over at Patreon, free for members. (I'll post the whole set in a public post later this week.) Today I'll upload Baby's First Combat over there, which... honestly involved the least screaming? I lost my absolute shit struggling with the sprint command, but I just calmly started trying to monster-whisper a Lying Figure. The duality of gamer.

i can hardly believe the bait and switch that elrond and the rings of power pulled on us this season. in the beginning, he is far too busy self-righteously blaming poor galadriel for falling for sauron's tricks. but then he puts on armour, lets his wild curls free, and transforms into a warrior-librarian covered in mud and blood, punching orcs in the face, and setting other orcs on fire. and i loved it.

Melanie King deserved better in a lot of ways, but I've decided one of them is that she should've been born a decade or two earlier and gotten the chance to meet Gerard Keay.

Imagine if, instead of being snapped up by Elias for having "a life shockingly lacking in any meaningful connections", she could have made contact with the only person around who's both just as isolated and angry, and equipped with the setting's one and only productive plan to do something about it. Gerry's bookburning is one of if not the only bits of real, tangible good succeeded at in the course of this story - something not even Gertrude's many sacrifices managed to fully achieve. He took terror out of the world. He prevented who knows how many people from experiencing Leitner's horrors, and he did it with a flaming abandon that would have validated all of the anger Melanie sought a home for in that bullet when it had no other.

Those two couldn't have saved the world, but they could've ripped a damn good hole in the things that tried to claim it before it went out, and I think they would've both been much happier for it, especially Melanie. Just imagine what could have been, if they'd gotten one long road trip crusade together instead of facing the world alone save for whoever thought them handy as a tool. Imagine Melanie during season 4, on the road and able to funnel all her restless rage into something that actually deserved it. Going wherever she wanted at top speed instead of being stuck with containment and waiting, being able to say "it's not bloody fair" and get a "damn right it's not" in agreement instead of distraction and pushback from people more preoccupied with stopping the things they'd already had their own time to process. Gerry burning books in a Tesco parking lot with Melanie as lookout. Melanie kicking the pile hard first before he lights it up. The two of them helping each other touch up their roots in a rest stop bathroom. Just Imagine.

Can we please hear your take on rosier twincest if youre into that i would inhale everything u write abt them

unfortunately i fundamentally don't see anything like that in the cards for the rosiers :(

to me, twincest is most thematically interesting when there's a push-pull between a pair's individual identities & their overriding Sameness (a great text for this is "Gothic Incest: Gender, Sexuality and Transgression" by Jenny Diplacidi (x) ) but the rosier twins' sameness is too complete for that conflict to exist. it wouldn't make sense because there is no tension; they are content to think of themselves as one person. you can't pine for yourself.

also like. i hesitate to make the rosiers overly transgressive. their codependence isn't exactly "normal", but their siblinghood is one of the most palatable things about them... it makes them easier to understand, which makes them easier for others to accept. their sibling bond is one of the few purely Good things in their lives, and i see it as redemptive for both of them..

essentially they are normal 100% of the time but the one person insane enough to get a tiny bit weird about it is bcj (💀). he met pandora, had the earth-shattering realization that There's Two Of Them, and then said absolutely nothing but a certain look came onto his face that caused reg to immediately go "YOU'RE FUCKING DISGUSTING" in the great hall.

I don’t think the Qiao Ling and Xiao Li deaths had actually happened yet when Cheng Xiaoshi died, and that was a future event they were trying to avert, but nothing was working and their efforts led to CXS being targeted and killed. The dive power is necessary to change the course of events to avert the future which is why CXS transferred it to LG and asked him to save them - only for Lu Guang to decide to try and include CXS in that too. Or something like that.
