Three whole months where you can gently transform yourself maybe shedding a few pounds or gaining some weight , creating habits that actually stick, and finally releasing those patterns that have been quietly sabotaging ur progress and be happy ! . U could genuinely make meaningful headway toward the life you've been dreaming about, or you could let these precious months slip by and find yourself in the exact same place just with summer behind you. The power sits entirely in your hands cuz if u think : ur mind is your greatest tool but nobody else can wield it for you. That weight loss, that goal you keep talking about, that grade you want noooone of it materializes without your consistent effort. And please, stop diminishing yourself with those defeating thoughts: "My life will never be like..." or "I'll never become..." Or "I'm destined to repeat my parents mistakes" while you're lying there doing nothing about it. Be honest with yourself be fr serious about what you actually want. Because if you're not willing to get real about your potential and put in the work, then who will?

I'm wondering if, as a society who cares about vulnerable people, we could stop saying "traumatize" when we truly mean "upset"?

I am sick of hearing sad books or movies "traumatize" their readers. I simply do not believe that happens. A traumatic experience might be adjacent to books (I have vivid memories of books I was reading around certain experiences and even how the contents of those books affected my processing of the experiences). But it's not caused by the book. And, y'know. The weather is Christofascist Censorship Attempts outside.

Meanwhile from the other side I continue to be surprised at just how badly people fail to understand trauma and traumatic experiences in general. Watering down the term isn't helping. Find other hyperbole to express that The Bridge to Terebithia gutted you, chewed on your heartstrings, and made you cry your first pair of contact lenses right out of your preteen eyes.

Had a dream last night about a gravity falls game where you play as young Stanley having to sneak around and lie to stay out of trouble with Filbrick. It wasn't really a horror game but it had a lot of horror game-like mechanics and there was a general sense of discomfort the entire time.

The only quest I can remember is one where Stanley gets a bad report card while Stanford gets a good one. Filbrick is out doing business until tomorrow so you have until the morning to try and make it look like you got good grades. There's an option to use white out on Stanford's card while he sleeps and write your name instead.

You could also get future readings from mom, who would give hints on what will happen to you next so you can start setting up lies and stealing in advance instead of scrambling to cover yourself last minute. (If you could figure out what the readings were hinting at. They got progressively more vague as the game went on, going from "I hear" and "I see", to "I feel")

You didn't get to see what happened when Filbrick caught him, it just cut to a game over screen. You could be caught and sent to your room three times before this happens (which ends the quest you're on. Because you failed to lie well enough). There is no way to win. The game would just keep going with scenarios until you lost or gave up

There was a vending machine on the board walk that had warped reflections in the glass that corrected itself when you looked at it head-on

the product of me contemplating about olrox's possible backstory and reading several mexica culture + spanish conquest books for the past 2.5 weeks (was absolutely worth it)

I've been thinking of him as a warrior from the commoner class or as a priest who was accepted into the calmecac from the same lower class because of his high capabilities (it was possible to accept children who were talented and with good qualities); and the priest version slowly took over - Quetzalcoatl, whose feathered-serpent form olrox takes, is a patron of knowledge, learning and priests; while it is symbolical - for a priest after spanish invasion and all the consequences (erasing of culture, persecution of the religion, converting into the christianity) to have this form in the manner of some kind of support, it also creates a common ground and parallels between olrox and mizrak in the aspects of religion, harsh duty, devotion to divine beings and theological questions, which i found fun to explore :)

i also thought of him being on lesser position in hierarchy - maybe as an offering priest, who could have got higher due to the fall of Tenochtitlan and immense decrease of population.

Anyway, I'm so normal about him and so looking forward to read more about other precolombian cultures now!
