Ranu Rekta
This is my very first post since I created this tumblr. Well, this is a kind of short story written in Javanese Language. Actually this is my assignment from the lecturer, he asked his students to make a lovish short story and it must taken from self-experience and this is my journey with my King *lol*. If you are Javanese, enjoy reading!
-----
Dina iki Rekta mangkat kuliah kaya biasane, numpak bis tekan kampus kang bakal dadi panggone kanggo golek ilmu nganti dadi Sarjana. Tekane kampus, kaya biasane Rekta ketemu karo kanca rakete saka ndhisik jaman isih dadi mahasiswa anyaran.
Kancane iku bisa raket karo Rekta jalaran nduweni hobi lan kesenengan kang padha. Sejene kui, Rekta lan Ranu padha-padha ora ketampa ing jurusan utawa prodi kang dadi pilihan utamane.
”Ta, awakmu wis ngrampungake tugas saka pak Edi durung?” Ranu banjur takon marang Rekta sing lungguh ing sandhinge. Esuk iki, Rekta katon ayu kanggone Ranu. Klambine katon cocok karo awake kang cilik iku. Genea cilik, ing mripate Ranu, Rekta iku kaya obat. Rekta bisa nenangke pikirane Ranu saka guyune Rekta. Ing basane cah enom jaman saiki, istilah sing cocok kanggo Rekta yaiku ”imut”.
” Uwis rampung, nu. Mengko digabung karo nggonamu banjur diobong ing CD ya”, jawabe Rekta karo semu ngguyu. Weruh eseme Rekta, atine Ranu trenyuh. Rasane kaya mabur dhuwur tekan kahyangan. Saktenane, Ranu iku tresna marang Rekta, ananging Ranu ora wani ngomong marang bocahe amarga Ranu ngerti yen Rekta mung nganggep Ranu iku kanca rakete. Sejene iku, Ranu kerep dicritani Rekta saben Rekta katresnan marang wong lanang. Jalaran 2 faktor kui mau, Ranu pilih nyimpen kabeh tresnane kanggo Rekta lan tetep dadi kanca raket ketimbang jujur nanging mengko ditolak lan ora bisa raket meneh ing sandhinge Rekta.
Sakbubare kuliah, kaya biasane Ranu lan Rekta mlaku bareng tekan gerbang. Sanajan bocah loro kui mau nduweni watak kang beda 180 drajat, bocah loro kui tetep kekancan. Watake Rekta kang crewet, seneng ngguyu, gampang mesem, nangis uga gampang nesu lan perfeksionis, beda adoh karo watake Ranu kang ora peduli karo kiwa tengene alias cuek, ora seneng omong utawa ora akeh omong, nanging easygoing. Yen diibaratke, Ranu lan Rekta iku kaya bumi karo langit, adoh banget.
Pas bali kuliah kui, Ranu crita marang Rekta yen dheweke arep melu latian teater fakultas kanggo pentas, sawetara iku, ana tugas saka dhosen kang kagolong abot. Krungu critane Ranu mau, Rekta banjur spontan ngomong ”Lho kok awakmu ngaboti latian ketimbang ngrampungi tugas? Tugase akeh lan abot!”, sakwise Rekta ngomong kui mau, dheweke lagi sadar yen dheweke ora nduweni hak kanggo ngatur uripe Ranu ngelingi dheweke karo Ranu iku mung kekancan.
Ranu banjur ngulati Rekta kanthi bingung lan njelasne yen dheweke iku kepengen nduwe kanca akeh. Rekta ora seneng karo sifate Ranu kang ngentengke tugas saka dhosen. Tugas iku amanat lan prioritas sarta tanggung jawab.
” Hih! Awakmu kui nggampangke tenan ta, Ran!”, Rekta wangsulan.
” Lha piye meneh?”, Ranu njawab kanthi enteng.
Sakwise Ranu njawab kaya ngono mau, Rekta ora wangsulan utawa crita liyane karo Ranu meneh. Amarga kejadian kui, hubungan kekancane Ranu lan Rekta retak. Ing kampus, Rekta ora guneman blas karo Ranu. Ngelingi sifate Ranu kang nggsmpsnhke kui nggawe atine Rekta nolak terus saben Rekta arep ngluruhi Ranu. Sejene iku, Ranu kang nduweni watak cuek uga ora ngajak guneman Rekta. Kaya ngono iku mau tambah nggawe atine Rekta mangkel, nanging saktenane Rekta kangen guneman karo Ranu.
”Wong lanang kok kaya ngono ta ya. Kok ya isih ana wong lanang kang ora nduwe ati kaya ngono.”, Rekta nggremengake Ranu marang Dewi, kancane.
”Lha awakmu iku lho Rek, ora nduweni hak kanggo nesu marang Ranu mung jalaran masalah kaya ngono”, tanggapane Dewi.
”Lho kok awakmu malah mojokke aku ta, wi?”, Rekta banjur wangsulan kanthi mangkel amarga wegah disalahake. Ngerti kabeh critane Rekta babagan Ranu, Dewi nduwe kesimpulan.
”Aja-aja awakmu tresna marang Ranu, Rek! Hayooo!”, omonge Dewi karo ngageti Rekta.
”Eh! Ngawur tenan! Ora lah! Aku kan mung sebatas peduli wae”, wangsulane Rekta karo semu anyel.
”Peduli kok nganti kaya ngono”, tanggape Dewi karo nggodha.
”Ya, peduline kan mung sak wajare kanca. Amarga Ranu iku kanca plekku, wi”, wangsulane Rekta rada lirih.
Sakwise ketemu Dewu lan ngomong kabeh iku mau, Rekta kepikiran terus karo omongane Dewi mau. Omongan bab Rekta tresna marang Ranu. Bareng dipikir-pikir, ana benere omongane Dewi mau.
Selama iki, Rekta mung krasa yen dheweke nyaman ing sandhinge Ranu. Dheweke ora pernah mikir yen dheweke tresna marang Ranu, ngelingi Ranu iku kanca rakete. Tapi bareng dipikir-pikir, bener omonge Dewi mau yen Rekta tresna marang Ranu. Buktine apa sing diomongke lan dilakoni Ranu, efeke gedhe kanggone Rekta. Contone pas wingi babagan Ranu arep melu teater ketimbang ngrampungi tugas. Sakliyane kui mau, selama dadi cah kuliahan, Rekta angel nampa wong lanang kang tresna marang dheweke. Rekta mikire yen dheweke iku kesel nduwe pacar. Ananging, sak jroning atine Rekta, dheweke iku ora bisa nampa wong lanang jalaran ndak ora bisa raket maneh karo Ranu. Apa maneh, mbiyen kae Ranu pernah ngaku yen dheweke tresna marang Rekta sakwise melu acara kampus ”Penyambutan Mahasiswa Baru”, nanging Ranu ora nakonke Rekta babagan apa sing dirasakake Rekta marang Ranu.
Dina iki, dina-dina terakhir ing semester I. Bocah-bocah sing padha kuliah padha sibuk mikir ujian, praktek, lan liya-liyane. Ora luput Ranu lan Rekta. Kadadean babagan teater lan tugas kang marai Rekta lan Ranu meneng-menengan kae saiki wis 1 sasi kepungkur, ananging bocah loro iku durung akrab maneh. Nganti sawijining dina, Rekta ngirim SMS marang Ranu babagan novel. Rekta ora nyangka yen SMS kui bakal tekan bengi.
Ora krasa, saiki wis mlebu semester II. Ranu lan Rekta wis bali kekancan kaya mbiyen maneh. Ing semester II iki saya akeh kegiyatan kampus. Rekta lan Ranu mlebu ing ”Klub Bahasa Asing” ana kampuse, amarga iku bocah loro kui saya raket.
Saya suwe, Ranu ora bisa selak yen dheweke pancen saya tresna marang Rekta.
Ing sawijining bengi, Ranu terus mikirake apa kang ana ing njero atine, apa kang dirasakake dheweke marang Rekta, Banjur Ranu nduwe keputusan yen sesuk bali kuliah, dheweke arep ngomong babaham penggalihe marang Rekta.
Ranu ora bisa konsentrasi blas pas pelajaran ana kampus. Dheweke kepikiran terus mengko Rekta arep jawab apa.
”Rekta ora oleh nolak aku...”, guneme ing sajroning ati.
Ditambah dina iki ana kelas tambahan yaiku kelas Bahasa Asing lan Ranu sak kelas karo Rekta.
Sakbubare kuliah, Ranu lan Rekta mlaku bareng kaya biasane. Sakdurunge tekan gerbang, Ranu ngumpulake mental kanggo ngomong marang Rekta babagan apa sing dipikirake awit ndek bengi.
”Ta, aku njaluk ngapura sakdurunge”, omonge Ranu.
”Ngapura kanggo apa?”, wangsulane Rekta bingung.
”Ketoke aku tresna marang awakmu”, Ranu ngomong karo ngampet isin.
Bocah loro kui mau tetep mlaku bareng, kahanan ngene iki katon alami...
”Kan awakmu mbiyen pernah ngomong kaya ngene nu”, jawabe Rekta maneh.
”Iya, mulane iku. Aku pengen awake dewe pacaran”, pangarepe Ranu.
”Tapi, mbiyen awakmu pernah omong yen wegah nduwe pacar”, Rekta bali takon.
”Aku ora tahan, Ta. Aku tresna marang sliramu”, jawabe Ranu lirih.
Rekta ora njawab. Ranu banjur ngomong ”Oke, jawabanmu tak enteni tekan gerbang. Yen awake dhewe wis mlaku tekan kana, awakmu kudu njawab”
” Oke...”, tanggape Rekta.
Banjur tekan gerbang, Ranu lan Rekta lungguh jejer ana kursi cedhak gerbang dhisik. Ranu takon babagan pitakone mau. Rekta isin isin lan ora bisa njawab ngelingi dheweke wegah ngerusak kekancane dheweke karo Ranu.
Bareng rada suwe, Rekta menehi jawaban.
”Iya, Ran... aku gelem yen awake dhewe pacaran”, jawabe Rekta kanthi mesem. Esem kang nrenyuhake atine Ranu.
Ranu ora nyangka yen Rekta bakal nampa dheweke ngelingi Rekta nduweni watak kang beda adoh saka Ranu.
”Maturnuwun, Ta. Maturnuwun banget”, wangsulane Ranu karo ngguyu. Ora bisa ndelikake bungahe atine.
Sakwise kui mau, Ranu lan Rekta nduwe komitmen lan janji yen bocah loro kui bakal pada-pada nyemangati nganti lulus kuliah bareng mengko. Ranu lan Rekta banjur padha bali menyang papane dewe-dewe.
Ranu ora lali ngucapake syukur marang Gusti Kang Maha Agung.
”Sing iki, ora bakal tak gawe lara ati...”, janjine Ranu marang Gustine.

❤How to Write Number in Javanese❤
Hello guys!! How are you today? I hope you feel alright this day 😊😊
So this, time we will talk about Javanese Number.
Tumblr media
Javanese script, as many other scripts, it has its own numbers. And because Javanese scripts is derived from the Brahmic script, it has a feature of Indo-Arabic numeral just like what we have in the Western one.
As we can see in the Picture above, it has basic numbers from 0 to 9. And, to write any other number we just need to write the part like in Western number. The example above are 10, 17, 100, and 102.
The next one is...
Tumblr media
The Javanese Script has special characters to aid in writing the number. These special characters are just like how we have punctuations like (,) and (.) to help differentiating between certain meanings in writing numbers.
The first is the [ : ] character. This character is used to signify that the written script is number. Why do we need this? Well... If we see the Javanese Numbers above, we can see that some of them have the same appearance with the Javanese Phonetic Alphabet (Wyañjana). So, without adding this special character it will be confusing to understand the text.
The reversed-check-sign thing is what we call a period/full stop in English numeral system. It is actually a coma as Javanese has the same system like Indonesian and in the Javanese romanization it will be transcribed as a coma. But, I write it here as a period/full stop in the context of English.
The double-reversed-check-sign thing is what we call a coma in English numeral system. It is actually a period/full stop as Javanese has the same system like Indonesian and it will be transcribed as a period/full stop in the Javanese romanization. But, I write it here as a coma in the context of English.
The [ | ] sign is actually a bracket sign. In numeral system, it is used to signify that the numbers we write is a date.
And then, the last two characters...
The [ : ] sign that we have covered before is also used to separate between the numbers especially in the date. In the Latin script, we may use some sign like [ - ] to do this.
The [ :: ] sign is used to signify X among Y, X part of Y, and similar mathematical meanings. It is like a [ / ] sign in Latin scripts or English.
As in the Picture above, we can see the example of how to write (10), (1,000), (0.1), and (1/7).
The example of the date above is read as:
1-7-1967 JA.
JA here means it is a Javanese Calendar date aka Javanese Year.
So, How do we use the numbers in Javanese?
Tumblr media
Use Native Javanese Number for:
1) Non-money / normal daily countings. Like: people, things, etc.
2) Number for housing, rooms, address, etc.
3) Chapter or writing numbering
The Picture above is read as:
10. Ana wong 10 ing sênthong angka 211.
English: 10. There are 10 people in the room number 211.
Tumblr media
Use Western Number for:
1) Money and commercial related
2) Date (especially Western or foreign one)
3) Scientific field in general (if needed)
4) Math
The Picture about is read as:
17-08-1945. Nalika 17-08-1945, nagara kita mardika saka Walanda.
English: 17th-08-1945. On 17th-08-1945, our country was independent from Dutch.
Footnote:
1) I am sorry for the date format in English one, I pictured that it will help the English reader to tune more into the Javanese format.
2) Yes, our independence on that date was not simply from the Dutch. But, I decided to keep it that way for the sake of simple example.
Don't forget to message me if you have any question or sugestion...
Maturnuwun!! (Thankyou) 😁😁

✨Javanese Modal Verbs and Aspects ✨
Tumblr media
First, Javanese doesn’t really have what we usually call as grammatical tense. But, it has what we call aspect. Still, I will give the usual English tenses in order to recall some similarity to English language.
Tumblr media
1) Present time
a. Zero modal (simple present) 💝
When we want to say about our daily activities or just simply give a statement, we can use plain verb without any modal.
-) Aku amangan sêga.
EN: I eat food
-) Aku atuku roti sabên dina.
EN: I buy bread every day.
b. Lagi (present continuous) 💝
When we want to say about something in progress or about in the sate of doing activities, we can use Lagi as a modal.
Form: Lagi + verb
-) Aku lagi angumbah klambi.
EN: I’m washing the clothes.
-) Lagi apa kowe?
EN: What are you doing?
Tumblr media
2)Past
a. Zero modal (simple past) 💝
Yes, in the Javanese we use aspects. So, we can state something that happened in the past without using any modal. Instead, we can use any adverb to specify the time.
-) Simbahku angisahi gelas.
EN: My grandparent washed the glasses.
-) Simbahku angisahi gelas mau wêngi.
EN: My grandparent washed the glasses last night. (it’s more specific)
b. Wis (general past, present perfect) 💝
When we want to say about something we have already done or simply have been done, we can use Wis modal.
Form: Wis + verb
-) Aku wis alunga mênyang pasar.
EN: I have gone to the market.
-) Pitike wis dipakani.
EN: The chicken has been fed.
If we want to make it something like past perfect, we can add adverb to make it more specific.
-) Aku wis alunga mênyang pasar Sênin wingi.
EN: I had gone to the market last Monday.
-) Dhek mau wêngi nalika aku wis angombe teh, adhiku anangis.
EN: Last night when I had drunk the tea, my younger sibling cried.
c. Bubar (immediate past) 💝
When we want to say that something has happened just now, we can use Bubar modal. Form: Bubar + Verb
-) Aku bubar amangan.
EN: I have eaten just now.
-) Aku lagi wae bubar alunga mênyang pasar.
EN: I have been gone to the market just now. (with emphasis by adverb)
Tumblr media
3) Future
a. Bakal (general future, distant) 💝
When we want to say something in the future in general especially if it’s rather distant, we can use Bakal modal.
Form: Bakal + Verb
-) Aku bakal bisa dolanan piyano.
EN: I will be able to play piano. (maybe someday, who knows)
-) Aku bakal amangan bakmi ramen.
EN: I will eat the ramen noodle (maybe someday or eventually)
-) Mêngko, rotine bakal tak pangan.
EN: I will eat the bread later. (or eventually)
If you wonder about using zero modal, yes you can. As you can see, Javanese doesn’t really have any tense and everything can be inferred by context and intuition. Many Asian languages do this, I mean about omitting information that seems important in English perspective. And if you need to make it more specific, you can add adverb.
-) Mêngko yen adhiku wis mangkat mênyang pawiyatan, tak telêpun maneh.
EN: I’ll call you again later when my younger sibling has gone to school.
-) Besuk/suk mben, omah iki sok wis dadi abeda maneh.
EN: The house will be different (again) someday.
b. Arêp (future, intentional) 💝
When you want to say about something you are going to do in the future, you can use Arêp modal. Form: Arêp + Verb
-) Aku arêp alunga saka kene.
EN: i am going to go from here.
-) Aku arêp telêpun kowe mêngko sore.
EN: I am going to call you this afternoon/evening.
c. Ameh (near future) 💝
When you want to say that you are just about to do something or it’s really in the near future, you can use Ameh modal.
Form: Ameh + Verb
-) Aku ameh mangkat.
EN: I’m about to go.
-) Aku ameh turu ing kasur.
EN: I’m about to sleep on the bed.
-) Bar iki, kuwi ameh tak tulis.
EN: I’m about to write that just after this.
To add some understanding, the Ameh modal can also be used to describe that something almost happened.
-) Gelase ameh anumplak.
EN: The glass almost fell (in to the table).
-) Aku ameh anjiglok saka loteng telu.
EN: I almost fell from the third floor.
Generally, you can tell from the context whether the Ameh modal means ‘ be about to’ or ‘almost. That’s all about the Javanese tenses and aspects.

Daily Reminder:
Remember guys, learning a language is like creating second nature aka the habit. Once we understand the nature of it, its system, how it works just the way it is... until we accept it and become accostumed with it. Then, we will really 'master' it. Just hold on!!!
😊😊😊
Do your best and good luck!!!
