Judge Aileen Cannon is not smart enough to come up with the idea of ignoring controlling precedent to hold that special counsel Jack Smith’s appointment violates the Constitution. Instead, she received not-so-subtle tutoring from six reactionary justices on the US Supreme Court who have signaled that judicial precedent has the binding force of fairy tales—“just so” stories to be invoked when convenient but otherwise irrelevant to the process of judicial decision-making. When precedent is meaningless, the law is rudderless, and we are reduced to judges running popularity contests or selecting random outcomes from a Bingo hopper. To state the obvious, that is not good for the rule of law.

On Monday, Judge Cannon gave Donald Trump a hostess gift for the Republican National Convention. She dismissed the federal indictment against him for unlawfully retaining defense secrets after the National Archive, DOJ, and FBI demanded the return of the documents. To achieve that lawless result, she ignored dozens of other decisions—including binding Supreme Court precedent, which previously held that appointing a special counsel is consistent with the Constitution.

Cannon dared to tell the Supreme Court that its prior acceptance of the validity of special counsel appointments was “dictum”—that is, unnecessary surplusage not relevant to the decision in a case. See Just Security, Judge Cannon Dismisses Trump’s Classified Docs Case: What’s Next?

As explained in Just Security, the Supreme Court upheld a subpoena by special prosecutor Leon Jaworski issued to then President Nixon. Although the Supreme Court did not rule on a challenge to the validity of Jaworski’s appointment in US v. Nixon, the Court did rule on the authority of Jaworski to issue a subpoena to the president. If the Supreme Court believed Jaworski had no authority to issue the subpoena because he was not validly appointed, it would have told him so. It did not. Rather, the Court ruled unanimously in US v. Nixon that the special prosecutor had the authority to issue subpoenas to the president—and that the president was required to comply with those subpoenas.

The justices on the Supreme Court who unanimously joined in the US v. Nixon opinion were Warren Berger, William O. Douglas, William J. Brennan, Potter Stewart, Byron White, Thurgood Marshall, Harry Blackmun and Lewis F. Powell. Several legal giants were included on that bench!

But Judge Cannon rejected the unanimous ruling of those legal giants in US v. Nixon and instead favorably cited the solo dissent of Clarence Thomas in Trump v. US—a case that involved the existence of a legal defense but not the validity of the special counsel’s appointment. None of the other reactionary justices joined in Clarence Thomas’s baseless dissent in Trump v. US in which Thomas claimed that appointment of the special counsel violated the Constitution.

Is Judge Cannon’s lawless decision good? Bad? Both? The answer is a qualified “Both.” Jack Smith has already announced he will appeal the ruling to the 11th Circuit. In a world where the 11th Circuit follows the law, it will overrule Judge Cannon and remove her from the case. That would be a good result.

But what will the Supreme Court do? In a just world where the Supreme Court respects the rule of law and its own precedent, the Court should affirm the reversal of Judge Cannon’s opinion. We are precisely where we were before Judge Cannon’s ruling: The courts will not save us. Trump will be held accountable only if Joe Biden wins the 2024 presidential election. We are not merely electing Biden; we are defending the rule of law.

Azul is currently 17 years old. He's only been a MagiKey user for a year but he managed to climb up to be one of most popular MagiKey users and one of the strongest. Although, he has strayed far from his path. He does his MagiKey duties but on the side, he participates in suspicious schemes, earning himself a title of a villain. He promises you that he is a man of honesty and generosity while casually doing villainous actions. He usually hides his "side work" and manages to convince most people that he is totally not doing suspicious things.

After being saved from his corruption, he ends up pausing his "side work" but he does eventually continue it, not learning his lesson.

Mental/Emotional Strength: ★★★☆☆ (Easily disturbed or shocked but he has a strong head when focused)

Physical Strength: ★★★★★ (Really strong due to octo-strength)

Stamina: ★☆☆☆☆ (He's too slow and really bad at running.)

Strategy: ★★★★★ (He's clever and can easily find loopholes)

Strengths: He's VERY observant and sneaky. He most likely knows very special information on you that you don't want anyone to know. It's also easy for strategy planning because he can predict your movements just by some observations. He's also a smooth talker.

Weaknesses: He genuinely cannot run fast for shit. Horrible at chasing people. If an opponent gets away, he says "Jade, Floyd, go get them!" (Their designs are coming soon)

Ability 1: Octo.. Cannon?

Azul's coat sleeves are cannons, yes. The cannonballs are octopuses, yes. Is he judging? YES.

He usually wears the coat over his shoulders because his sleeves are his weapons and they're HUGE. They move on their own when Azul needs them. He can also move both as once. Reloading is quick because of his own training and it is REALLY POWERFUL. One shot at that thing and you're FLYING.

If Azul is unable to focus and aim, nothing will come out of his sleeves.

Ability 2: Ink Tentacles GROSSSS YUCK!!

Azul can summon ink through cracks on the ground, buildings, anything and they will form into tentacles. They can restrain and attack people. They can be different sizes but the maximum size is like Floyd's height. They can also be attacked back too.

Final Ability: Golden Contract

"It's a Deal!"

When Azul activates this ability, you will see a golden contract appear in front of you and you'll be forced to be mesmerized by it. This will lure you closer to it, making you grab the contract in curiosity before you realize you pressed your fingerprint on the contract. You suddenly have an anemone on your head, forcing you to follow Azul's orders.

It's really hard to look away or escape this event and it usually works but it takes a lot of Azul's energy and magic. Using it too much can end up with him fainting or becoming corrupted.

When Azul turns corrupted, his body becomes covered in this thick ink before tranforming into a large octopus. The purple glowing area is his weak spot and where you will strike if you’re trying to defeat him (aka KILL HIM).

Uhhh he can basically grab you with his tentacles. They come from the ground and he can summon multiple.

He can do a loud ass screech which will produce strong soundwaves to push you back

Since he drips a lot of ink, there are a lot of puddles of ink but they’re actually really deep like the ocean so if you fall in, you’ll fucking die or smth.

dunno if this'd be useful for anyone, but i figured i'd throw it out there -- i've been trying to recreate what felwinter might have "actually" looked like for a project i'm working on/because it's been bothering me lately. so i present my notes on the subject

a disclaimer: i'm basing this off of the 4 times we see holograms of him in-game, and the very few descriptions we have of his clothes (which is just described as an "overcoat" iirc). so there's lots of wiggle room. a lot of this was done by attempting to logic out what would have made the most sense

so, lo and behold, i came up with something like this (cut into multiple pieces bc i used a massive canvas):

more rambling + design notes beneath the cut so this doesn't get too long

i think it's worth noting that while he was certainly a warlock, i think it's fair to expect him to take after titans as well (considering he mentioned learning from jolder and both of his exotics are melee-focused). i didn't incorporate this as much as i would have liked to in this design, but that's mainly due to me not wanting to stray too far from the hologram references

the colors are a guess at best. i still really enjoy the idea of having his overcoat be black, but all of the other iron banner armor only had the rust red, green, and brown so i felt bad doing that coloring *__* "but why is his armor painted black then" i think he would have attempted to make it match his helm, assuming that his helm is iron painted black. but who knows. the metal very well might have been gold, considering his shotgun was green & gold.

i was considering making one or two of the "bags" he has be holsters, but i don't remember any mention of him having a hand cannon/sidearm/any gun that would actually fit in a holster of that size because afaik it only ever mentions him having a shotgun, and then there's that machine gun named after him. so yeah they're now ammo pouches for his shotgun EDIT: thank you to the person who reminded me that he, in fact, does have a sidearm. i completely forgot about that. thus, if i were to do this over he would have a holster (likely his right side, but i don't know if he's right or left handed) and a bag on the other side. :)

from the videos i found, i couldn't tell if his coat had a slit in the back. i added that in anyways because, if he didn't have one, there would have to be a lot of extra, unneeded fabric that would get in the way in a fight (since we see the holograms with fabric still around his legs even in those wider stances)

on the topic of the coat and covering his legs in those wide stances, i think it's fair to assume that there's some sort of strap in his coat to keep it so close to his legs (like horse riding long coats). that's mainly because the material would be heavier (overcoat), and thus would definitely not rest like it does in the holograms. then again, maybe that's for modesty by the bungie devs....? i'm not really sure. it's confusing

i....think i referenced every iron banner set for warlocks. i'm not too sure, lol. there's a lot and i got lost while searching

all of the other iron banner sets always had the wolves with the tree, so it was interesting they gave him just the tree. but i might also have missed the wolves in game. who knows.

the collar and the chest piece of the robes. yeah. i had no idea what to make of it - i decided to go with the loincloth being part of the belt (like titan bonds). the collar (Even though i really, really like fur) i decided to make look like some kind of cowl…i have some regrets on that still

i mentioned it in my screenshot ramblings, but it looks like he isn't wearing a breastplate of any kind considering the fabric is so form-fitting. that was an interesting choice by bungie but, hey, i'm not one to judge lol. i kept the version i drew with the breastplate because i liked it

i did have versions of this where he had different colors (rust red instead of green/black overcoat/gold details), but the file got corrupted so i took it as a sign and didn't redraw those couple designs/recolors when i remade this. sorry

ideally, i also would have included more elements of kazakh + uzbek culture into his design since he's loosely mentioned to have lived in that general area (west of the aral seas). however, the iron lords seem to have a lot more western influence so....? kazakh and uzbek clothing also tend have a lot of details (intricate embroidery), and i'm not sure how practical that would be for an iron lord that's out in the field for a lot of the time (+ doesn't particularly care for expression)

i still feel like he should have some sort of chest design, since nearly all of the iron banner armor has that. however, it's super awkward with the design i decided to go with, considering the iron lords like circular designs and the frame the robes give is.....not a circle. awkward.

anyways, that's all i really have to say. if there's something i missed in any capacity (in lore/writing, in the game screenshots, etc), please tell me!! i'd love to hear other people's thoughts and ideas!
