Um actually Rafe came to me in TAR and told me that he’s gonna make mat and Rand kiss only to have Gawyn kill them both. Rest of the episodes will focus on feminism, lesbianism and how moraine is the dragon reborn actually.

LMAO what a season that would be! this made me remember my thought from a while back which is that i just know that when s3 has rand as the focal character/story, reddit's gonna be like "oh look, rafe FINALLY listened to our feedback and course-corrected" rather than admitting that maybe it's actually the natural trajectory of the story to give rand a few seasons to come into his own and this was their planned structure all along. there wasn't much of an Agenda in making moiraine and egwene the focal characters of the first 2 seasons; it was just that with moiraine as the established gandalf figure being a good initial viewpoint to bring us into the world & show us what makes it unique in the fantasy landscape and egwene having her hugely foundational damane arc, the story naturally called for them to be the focal characters in seasons 1 and 2 (with nynaeve also getting an early focus because she has an incredibly strong and memorable personality straight out of the gate, vs. most of the other emond's fielders needing a bit longer to cook before they become truly interesting people. plus, nynaeve and moiraine both start the story as established leaders and mentors who over time stand aside to let their students take up the mantle of leadership, and this is why they both start the show as stronger, more established characters than the other 4 emond's fielders who are having standard "start at the bottom and go up" leadership arcs.)

the show treats all the main characters equally and lets them ebb and flow in prominence according to the needs of the story (just as the books do, once they shift out of the rand-show of the first book or so and into the greater spread of POVs that continues to be the structure for the rest of the series); it's only that subset of viewers who think that the early focal characters happening to be women must be an Agenda and an intentional attempt to undermine the boys. if rand's waste arc had been in books 2-3 and egwene's damane arc in book 4, then of course rand would've been the focal character of s2 instead of her (and she would've had s3). sure, you could argue that rand also has an important foundational arc in TGH with his lord stuff and the show cut out a lot of it, but the difference is that rand has various lord & leadership arcs multiple times throughout the early books whereas egwene's damane arc is one-of-a-kind and there is no possible way to give her that same character development in a different storyline at a different time, so she HAD to get a big focus in s2 whereas rand could wait longer (and he did still get plenty of early leadership-skillbuilding and other character work in s2, even if it came via different story beats than TGH's version).

anyway, some people need to learn that their favorite characters are not always going to be the objectively most important ones at every single point in the story! it's a long-ass story with time for everybody to shine! this is what i tell myself while crying through 100 pages of perrin POV haha
