Zeus and a favourite thing about each of his siblings!
hehehehehe
hera: zeus actually loves how independent and headstrong hera can be, and how unafraid she is to do what she thinks is best. even if it leads to conflict between them, he respects that agency in her a lot.
hades: his patience. zeus seriously admires how patient and forgiving hades can be, and the level of calm it leads to. it makes him quite easy to talk to and makes any conflict they have a lot easier to work through
demeter: her honesty. zeus loves that she will always tell it how it is, that she is open about how she is feeling (so he can help). she's reliably honest and he knows he can trust her for that reason <3
poseidon: his passion. as much of a nuisance as it can be, as much as poseidon's passion has caused issues for them, it is still incredibly powerful. when he cares about something, he does not pull punches, and as tough as it is being on the bad end of it, it's so rewarding to be on the good end.
hestia: besides everything, i think zeus loves her thoughtfulness the most. she just knows everyone she cares for so deeply and intimately, and always knows what to do to bring a smile to someone's face. she cares so much, and more than that, she seems to understand how best to care for those around her. zeus has definitely tries to emulate that quality

🌻c:
Shipping is fun and I reject the weird disdain some people seem to have for it.
I've been roleplaying for a long time, but it wasn't really until tumblr I began to commonly encounter this odd elitism some people seemed to adopt about romantic or sexual shipping between characters. It's treated almost like a frivolous thing, and that if you were somebody who ships a lot, or had a big interest in it, you weren't a "real, serious roleplayer."
Don't get me wrong, I totally understand not being interested in some themes, or liking a variety of stuff to happen in roleplay, but the attitude towards shipping never really felt neutral, but instead like people shunned it. And the thing is, this attitude isn't anything new, but I was sad to see it be weirdly prevalent in a hobby I love so much. Romance media is often written off as silly, non-serious, and something to be embarrassed about consuming, especially if it's of the ~ spicier ~ variety, and I wonder sometimes if the shipping attitudes stem a little from that.
For a long time I would hide behind a veneer of "oh yeah I'm open to shipping but don't worry, I'm not one of those people who ship all the time". I treated it like it was something to hide, and I worried about having "too many" ships and that people would think less of me for it. I closed myself off and scolded myself if I saw potential for a ship. I feared approaching people, and it... sucked a lot of fun out of roleplaying for me.
I'll admit I'm sometimes still shy about approaching people, but I will be vocal now and say it loud: I love shipping.
I love throwing my muses at others and seeing what happens. Sometimes it's sickly sweet and disgustingly sappy, sometimes it's angsty and dark, and sometimes it's an utter trainwreck. I love it all though. Exploring the connections and dynamics, putting the relationship through trials, and yes, sometimes even writing the sexy bits. I enjoy it all, and I'm not ashamed to say it, and I want others to feel the same.
And at the end of the day, even if shipping isn't someone's thing, I believe RPCs would be better places if everyone just relaxed and stopped acting like what you write as far as themes makes you a better writer than others.
so yeah.... shipping rocks and I am a proud shipping whore LOL

@kallistcs ⸻ ↳ 'all that i am and everything i'll ever be belongs to you.' | Paris & Helen.
Helen's heart stilled as he spoke, something dangerous thrumming in her heart. Her eyes shadowed with a sadness she tried to hide. She knew she shouldn’t feel anything for him. It was a betrayal of everything she was meant to uphold—duty, sacrifice. She was married, and she had a beautiful, beautiful child. And yet, despite herself, her heart had already surrendered, pulled toward him by a force she couldn’t fight. Helen wanted to blame the gods, but deep down, she knew that no matter what, no matter who she was or where she was, she would have loved Pâris.
❝ I should not feel this way. I never thought I could be…someone who would walk away from all she’s ever known. ❞
She loved Sparta, she loved Hermione, and in some ways, she genuinely cared about Menelaus. But there had always been something missing, and now, she knew exactly what it was. Here she was now, willing to risk it all for Pâris, for her freedom, for love.
❝ They will loathe us, they will curse our names. ❞
Helen added in a whisper, reaching up and letting her fingertips linger along his jawline, fully aware that they were bound to something that would burn the world around them.

@kallistcs gets a starter! ft. menelaus
It all feels so distant out here. Menelaus had wanted to see the countryside that Paris had spent his youth exploring, and the two of them had decided to take a trip for a few days just riding and enjoying being away from Troy's walls. It's what Menelaus has longed for since he'd arrived in Troy. Diplomacy is a charming excuse to be here, but it's not why Menelaus had traveled to Troy. In truth, he'd missed Paris. Time apart had not been enough to take the Trojan prince from his thoughts.
He admires Paris tending to their horses when he returns from gathering firewood, and leans against a tree for a moment just to take him in. It's a short-lived thing, though; he can't resist the urge to approach, and closes the distance between them after putting down the firewood so he can wrap his arms around Paris' waist. He presses a kiss to Paris' neck.
"We should have enough firewood to get us through the night," he tells him, though his main focus is on pressing kisses to Paris' neck and shoulder.

[ guide ] sender gently grabs receiver’s hand, making sure they won’t get separated. / I think this works regardless of who's grabbing a hand, so; little Adonis and Persephone? <o< hi @kallistcs
The gentle pressure of the young boy reaching for her hand, made Persephone smile, the boy may not come from her body, but she loved him no less.
"I'm coming, Adonis, I'm coming." The queen said, she still wore the wreath of flowers she wore as goddess of spring, but soon she would shed these markers of the world above and once again look like the queen that she was.
"I've missed you, darling boy."

@kallistcs || [ cont. ]
The stories, myth and reality muddle around his heels, almost but not quite like the eddies of water around his feet as he follows after Ganymede through the path in the riverbed. Some people have all the luck, and all the favor of the gods. Jury was still out if that was a good thing or not, but it is clear that there's at least some benefit to the gods liking you.
Damp silt and rocks lap up onto Nico's shoes, but it's better than what he would have gotten, crossing through a river like this on his own, and he makes sure to keep close to keep the water from flooding him instead. Because that would be his luck.
Eyes tick up to Ganymede's face as the darkness surrounds the both of them. He doesn't miss the nervousness of the other's expression, though, and he reaches into his backpack side pocket, pulling out a flashlight Will had given him a bit ago. Even if he was comfortable in the dark, Nico knows not everyone is. Flipping on the light, he makes sure it's pointing at the ground, or rather the riverbed so it doesn't blind the both of them, although it still casts a harsh shadow on Ganymede's face.
"I didn't realize what time it would be over here either," he says out loud, a self-conscious half-chuckle rushing out of his lips. "It's not like this trip was really planned at all."
And he falls into a contemplative silence as he listens to Ganymede's story, even as the blood starts to pound in his ears. Of course all demigods know the story of Achilles, how he was one of the greatest fighters of the Greeks and then was slain by something as simple as an arrow. Now he sometimes haunts the shores of the Styx, but all in all, he seems like he regrets his actions. But, Nico's never heard this part of the story before.
"I'm so sorry," he murmurs in reply. It rankles him to think a ghost would have gotten out of the Underworld to make such a request, and more that the other gods didn't object. But things were different then, somehow crueler. "Achilles had no right to do that."

@kallistcs has been struck by lightning
Zeus did not as some supposed prowl along the earth like a lion hunting for new paramours and bedfellows. Some of his 'conquests' such as Danaë couldn't even boast of having excited his passion. Even the gods bent to Fate and Fate expected a son from Danaë, so as the god of fate, it had been Zeus' duty to give her one.
Those that did excite Zeus' passion were never mere beauties. His first wife had been far-seeing Metis, his second had been bright-eyed Themis. And so it went.
What then would he make of this Trojan prince? What would the prince make of him? As he appeared now Zeus was so very human, his eyes a simple cornflower blue, even his golden hair was dulled to the color of wheat. He smiled but still had something of his father's all-devouring mouth. “Is this country so unfriendly you would turn your back on a guest?” He asked playing the usual game of hospitality he played with mortals.

@kallistcs asked: “It’s not your fault. You did everything you could.” /lightly edited; Adonis to Hades!
HURT / COMFORT : STARTERS | Accepting
"And yet it was not enough." Hades replies from beneath gritted teeth as he sits up straight in his throne and looks past Adonis. Attempts were being made to keep his composure about this.
A breach had occured with attempts to kidnap Adonis at their core. Done seemingly without knowledge of the shade and causing much distress in the process.
"I have a duty to keep you safe, and I failed. Therefore it is, ultimately, my fault. I don't need patronising about it." He was in a sour mood purely because of his own self-hatred of the failure of himself and his system.

@kallistcs sent: [ jacket ] sender takes their jacket off and hangs it on receiver's shoulders / cloak, rather, but... from Paris for Kassandra?
Her hands were fidgeting when she reached the port. The sea wind was cold and angry at night, pinching her cheeks with tiny droplets of salt and sand. Kassandra’s semblance was already encumbered with a sense of defeat even before she stepped into the dock, watching her brother’s back in silence. She’d halted halfway through her way towards him, reconsidering. Father’s ship stood tall and mighty ahead of them, which made Paris’ figure appear rather small. Though no one had invited her to, the princess watched the servants coming and going, carrying heavy carts laden with tribute to the king and queen of Sparta. Her eyes registered the scene with such horror that one could assume they were carrying pieces of human flesh instead.
After a pause, Kassandra rekindled whatever weak determination she had left. The tremor on her fingertips had nothing to do with the cold wind when she reached out to place a hand upon his shoulders, but Paris interpreting it thus and offering his own cloak to keep her warm made it all that much harder. “You must not go on this journey”, she told him under her breath. A stream of words hung between her lips, on the verge of overflowing through half-mad prophecies, yet Kassandra pushed it down like one who tries to refrain from vomiting. “I cannot tell you why”, she said, “but you mustn’t.”

@kallistcs asked: "I'm attracted to men but at what cost?" / From Ganymede for Hebe xD
"a cost that is way too steep sometimes," hebe agreed, nose wrinkling and face twisting in disgust. like, sure - she was also attracted to men, as much as it sometimes pained her to admit - but that did not mean she had to like it, right? "it is an affliction that will haunt us both for time immemorial, gany. we're this world's bravest soldiers, that's for damn sure."
hebe sighed dramatically. "maybe aunt hestia was onto something."

@kallistcs sent a meme: 🔥🔥give it to me. Greek myth, RP or fandom!
Aight, time to get controversial! And I get two flames to work with, goody! 😈
🔥 First is fandom bc oh boy do I see so much drama. And so I will yell possibly my biggest controversial (and possibly unpopular) opinion that may actually cause trouble but eh. And that is; WHAT PEOPLE WRITE IN FICTION DOES NOT REFLECT UPON THE AUTHOR. STOP HARASSING PEOPLE FOR SHIT THAT ISN'T REAL.
It makes me so mad. The seemingly growing amount of people who insist you're a bad person for engaging in x subject in fiction is actually distressing and I hate it. Idc what you write, even if it squicks me out, I will never assume you endorse it irl unless there's cold, hard proof. The support for censorship (which is not a precision tool btw, but a blunt object that bludgeons whatever it hits) is choking creativity and killing media literacy. By all means curate your timeline, but ffs, do not assume a person's morality based on them writing something that makes you uncomfortable. And for the love of god please stop using words like romanticising/normalising/fetishising to justify harassment. Unless the person is straight up saying it's okay ooc and engaging in stuff irl, don't just assume. It needs to stop.
🔥 And then for greek myth, it kinda feeds into the above one which is; I think people need to embrace the bad sides of the gods more when it comes to shitty things they've done. Feels like the moral panic stuff makes everyone scramble to make their characters likable and so they retcon myths. The biggest example I can give is how people treat the Hades and Persphone myth (something I've ranted about many times before) by removing the kidnapping/rape aspect and the trickery in making her eat the pomegranate seeds. But it happens with so many other figures, where they didn't do x bad thing or it's actually for y reason that makes it less bad/more justifiable.
Let the gods be messy, let them do bad things, let them be morally dark-grey. They are complex beings who do bad stuff sometimes, and their morals cannot be expected to line up with human ones, especially modern day ones.. Idk, I'm just not a fan of the uwu-ification that happens a lot of the time. Your muses can do horrible things, they're not real, it doesn't make you a bad person, and ultimately fiction is for exploring all kinds things, including the fucked up stuff.
#meme answer#kallistcs#i got a little heated here but ugh#i see too much shit on other sites#grinds my gears#a lot of what I said about fandom is people engaging in conservative purity culture just in a different hat

💿for Angelos, perhaps?
send me a 💿 and i'll shuffle my music and write a starter based on the first song i get!
Eileithyia really wasn't listening to what Angelos was venting about as she was busy trying to fill out last minute paperwork on the living room. "I would rather die." Eileithyia pipes up, intentionally cutting the other goddess off to stop her from speaking. "Then listen to whatever it is you're babbling on about right now to be completely honest."

an assortment of dialogue prompts // Accepting!
@kallistcs asked: ❛ promise me you’ll still be here when i wake up. ❜ / little Adonis to Hades!
It was the time of year when Persephone went topside, and it was always hard on those who had to stay behind. Hades himself was used to having to say goodbye to his wife for part of the year, despite the fact that it didn't get any easier and he didn't like it any more than he had initially.
But that was the compromise they'd agreed to, and he'd had plenty of time to come to terms with it. Little Adonis hadn't had as much time, and to him, it likely felt like his mother was just leaving for a large portion of the year. It was why Hades made sure to spend even more time with him for the first week or so after Persephone went up above.
And this year was no different. Hades had spent the day with Adonis, the two of them talking about what this part of this year would look like without Persephone. But even they needed to sleep.
He made sure the little boy was all tucked up snug and safe in his bed, and he'd been just about to leave, to head to his office for a little while longer when he spoke up, asking Hades to promise he'd be here when he woke up.
The god of the dead looked down at the sleepy child, a soft smile on his face. "I'm not going anywhere," he promised, brushing his hair off his forehead. "But you have to get some sleep." He would absolutely still be here in the morning, and he would take care of their son the best he could while Persephone was with her mother.
