Miss You - Karl Jacobs Drabble

Summary: GN Reader is feeling little clingy, but Karl can handle clingy

“I don’t understand what’s happening,” Karl sod gesturing toward you, and you death gripped the throw pillow in your hands and screamed into it.

“I just- I-“ you let out a groan, looking elsewhere. Vulnerability was not a strong point right now. “I don’t know. I miss you.”

“I’m right here?”

“I know,” you responded, looking toward him and his face softened slightly. “I still miss you, though.”

He made his way over, sitting beside you and slowly moving the pillow away. You couldn’t look him in the eye, but he gently took your hands in his before wrapping your arms around his torso and pulling you with him as he laid down on the couch. He squeezed you tight before relaxing.

“Why didn't you just say so,” he asked and you shrugged as you adjusted to be able to hear his heartbeat as you laid against his chest. “If I get to cuddle everytime you miss me then you can always miss me.”

“And, what happens when you miss me?”

“Mmm probably this,” he said before placing a soft kiss to your forehead, and you couldn't help but smile let your hand find his and intertwined your fingers.

“Maybe will both miss each other forever,” you said and you looked up and he smiled his eyes moving from your intertwined hands to your face.

“I hope so.”

he was trending on twitter. it wasn't uncommon, he was a creator after all. but now he was trending in association with you.

"fans of karl jacobs left excited after his "adorable" reaction to the prospect of meeting up with longtime friend for the first time ever."

"why is 'adorable' in quotation marks?" he turned his phone screen around so jimmy could see. jimmy just laughed and shrugged.

you and karl had streamed together last night, and you'd entertained the prospect of a face reveal. you'd become a creator rather young, never expecting it to truly take off. but now as an adult with a flourishing career, you felt ready to show your face.

karl had been elated that he was the first person you wanted to meet in person. you and him had been friends for years, and you telling him that he was your best friend turned him into a giggly blushing mess.

but, that was for him to think about later, because right now he had a video to shoot. this one wasn't an endurance challenge, so he didn't think he'd be here for more than maybe four hours. but that was four hours he could spend talking to you.

"hey, karl?" jimmy called him over about an hour. "can you grab another cable from the storeroom?" karl nodded and pocketed his phone, jogging over to storeroom one. "oh, wait. not that one. we have a guest in there."

"oooh, who is it?" he asked. usually, whenever they had guests it was either viewers that karl would meet when they got to the warehouse, or another creator that he would also meet when they got to the warehouse.

"i can't tell you," jimmy said simply. "it's a surprise."

karl frowned, but just put it off. "why are they in the storeroom,"

"we took out the shelves and put up some decor and stuff," jimmy said. "figured we would do more surprise reveals after this one and we need somewhere for them to stay."

to karl's dismay, he soon found out that everyone knew who was in the room except for him. over the next few hours, they filmed the challenge portion of the video, and then took a break before the end segment.

karl had won, and he had a lot of fun. it seemed like everyone else had given up fairly easily, but he assumed that everyone had off days.

he pulled out his phone and texted you: "hi bub sorry, been filming all day. you're probably asleep right now so call me when you wake up <33"

you and karl had been friends for years, but for the past year or so it had been different. you weren't dating, it was a weird sort of in between thing.

you knew he liked you, he knew you liked him. but you'd both silently agreed to wait until you met up irl before anything was going to happen.

once they were all gathered together jimmy spoke to the camera for a second before turning to karl. "alright, now. since karl was the winner, he gets our mystery prize. it's right in there," he gestured to the storeroom that had been done up.

"ooh, is it taylor swift?" he giggled as he opened the door. he expected it would be maybe his family, or another creator he hadn't got to meet.

"you've been hanging out with alex too much," was the first thing you said before karl was pulling you into his arms.

"you're here. oh my god," he recognised you based off of your voice, and he couldn't believe you were physically in front of him. "you're so pretty, gosh,"

"hi honey," you squeezed him as hard as you could.

"it's weird," he mumbled. "i missed you. but, i talked to you all the time. it doesn't make sense,"

"don't worry, karl. none of us saw her, she came in early." chris said. "we were all in on it,"

"can't even be mad," karl still hadn't let go of you, burying his face in your neck. "not when you're here,"

he had to pull away from you (still keeping your hand firmly in his), to finish the video. but the second everyone had gone he was putting his hands on either side of your jaw. "you're here, with me," he needed to keep repeating it so you didn't suddenly disappear.

"karl, honey?" he hummed in response. "i missed you too."

"Where do we even start?" Karl asks, looking at all of the pieces of the gingerbread house spread out on the kitchen table in front of you.

"Okay I'll hand you the pieces and you put icing on the edges of them," you tell him, handing over the icing bag and watching as he takes careful hold of it.

You carefully pull out the pieces of the gingerbread house, handing each to Karl and watching as he circles the edges in icing before placing them onto the paper plate in front of him.

The two of you work in tandem, no words needed and following each others movements as if you've been doing this for years. When the house is built, you both decide to decorate one side of it by yourselves and see if it comes together or falls apart completely.

"Don't look at my side!" Karl shrieks, jokingly holding a hand up to block your eye sight from seeing his side of the gingerbread house.

"It's gonna look terrible!" you yell back and it sends the two of you into a fit of laughter.

"Okay," Karl says stepping back and you both look at each other.

"3, 2, 1!" you say in unison.

You both switch sides, looking all around the gingerbread and when your eyes meet again, you both die laughing.

"Why in the world," you say through gasping laughs "Did you put Fortnite characters on this??"

"Your side has Taylor Swift lyrics!" he shouts back.

You grab Karls arm, laughter clutching your chest and you both slide to the floor in a mess of giggles. When you both finally catch your breath, Karl looks over at you.

“You’ve really made my Christmas this year.”

"Same here my love."

Sapnap shook his head as you gave him a quick pout, only earning a whine when he looked away.

“Sapnap!”

Rolling his eyes, Sapnap kept his attention on Karl, as he was talking. “Are you not gonna answer them?” Karl questioned, throwing you a guilty look. Sapnap only grunted, before grabbing Karl’s shoulder pulling him closer to whisper in his ear. Growing curious, you leaned closer on the couch to try and hear what Sapnap was whispering.

Seeing Karl’s face contort into confusion, then realization as his face grew red. Slowly, Sapnap leaned back and Karl only nodded, “I get it now.” He said, clearing his throat wanting to continue his conversation from before.

“What? That’s not fair. You just told him something about me.”

Sapnap sighed as he finally faced you, and you gave him a glare. “If you’re so eager to know. I told him you’re being a bitch of a brat right now.” He told you, coldly. Feeling heat rise up to your cheeks, you looked down knowing he was right.

“You know.” Karl started, and Sapnap threw him a glance, “I’m quite good at brat taming.” Karl finished, and Sapnap raised an eyebrow and his interest piqued. “Is that so?” He questioned.

“You’re seriously listening to him?” You groaned out, and Karl only threw you a quick harsh look which made you shut up instantly. “We called you over here to just have a threesome but now that they’re being a brat I say we don’t have one. Instead we two have some fun.” Sapnap suggested, and Karl only looked away in thought.

Widening your eyes, you vigorously shook your head, “No!” You were quick to protest, and Karl smirked. “You.” He pointed at Sapnap, “Bedroom.” To which Sapnap put his hands up and walked to the bedroom. “And you.” He finally pointed at you, “I think it’s time we finally tame the brat.” He said, getting up and picking you up.

Holding onto him, you bit your lip anxiously, “You can relax, I’m not going to do anything without your permission.” Karl whispered, reassuring you. Slightly relaxing at his words, Sapnap came into your view. “Look at you two. Bonding.” He teased, and you rolled your eyes before yelping when you were thrown onto the bed roughly.

“I was going to put you down nicely, but I saw that eye roll.”

Karl said, as he unbuttoned some of his buttons, his exposed chest and collarbone shone from a layer of sweat from where Sapnap and Karl just got back from skating.

“Sapnap, you are to watch. You can have your fun when it’s your time.” He instructed, to which Sapnap only nodded intrigued. “Let’s start shall we?” He asked, a smile on his face.

“You already know the colors, and so does he. Don’t be afraid to use them.”

Sapnap said, and you nodded. Karl looked at you before crawling over you, “Let me know if you want to do this. I won’t do anything you aren’t comfortable with.” Nodding your head, he lightly pinched your thigh, “Words.” He demanded. “I want you.” You mumbled.

whatever you do don’t think about karl on his knees looking up at you with his big watery eyes

"I know you can hear me, I'm sorry." he looked at you expectantly, or how you would call it, the puppy-eyes look. You fake-pouted, and slightly turned away.

"all this just because I ate the last slice of pizza?" you did your best to supress a laugh. he of course noticed that, seeing it as an opportunity.

"is it possible for me to bribe you with some McDonald's?" you smiled as a piece of hair fell to your eyes. Karl tucked it behind your ear, not forgetting to press a kiss to your nose in the process.

Kinoko Kingdom is thriving! I’m excited to see what the future holds for our nation.

Sapnap keeps bringing up someone though. He’s always standing by the watch tower and doesn’t come down until it’s late past dinner. He always seems to be waiting for something, or someone?

We haven’t been able to travel the lands much. All Sapnap and I know are the premises of Kinoko Kingdom but I can’t go. It’s too much running a country. Maybe Sapnap can find the time to look around, see if we have any neighbours and such? If a situation ever arises it’d be good to have some alliances. I’ll be sure to talk to Sapnap about that.

He agreed! We’re both busy however so it may be a bit before he’s able to go but once he’s done planning out the military he’ll start exploring. I wonder if there’s any nations closeby we didnt run into somehow. It gets a bit lonely with George constantly asleep and Sapnap in the watch tower for most of the day.

You smiled, watching as Karl rambled on and on about the new clothes you guys got.

“Look! Its Bath and Body Works!” Karl said excitedly, pointing to the very scented store.

“Mhm-WHOA-” You said surprised, Karl dragging you towards the store.

You sighed, walking hand in hand with the excited boy whose eyes are sparkling in happiness.

“Look!!” He blurted out, pointing to a tower of candles.

“Oh no…” You mumbled, slowly following the boy who was already at the tower of candles.

“Ooo, this candle smells so nice!” You heard Karl say once you reached him.

“No. We don't need any more candles.” You said sternly, taking the candle from him, grabbing his hand, and dragging him out of the store.

“But it smelled like pumpkin…” He pouted, soulking next to you.

“C’mere,” he grumbles, snaking an arm around your waist and pulling you down flush onto his lap. Your hair is soft on his face as he buries his head into the crook of your neck.

“I have work, Karl,” you sigh defeatedly, relaxing into his touch.

“I know. I just wanted a little more time.” One arm catches the other and he hugs you closer, hands pressed to your abdomen like he couldn’t stand being away from you for more than a second. He looks up into the mirror, hair disheveled and cheeks red, and decides that it’s truly an injustice that you have to leave him.

You stare right back at him with fond eyes. You’re nearly ready to walk out the door, work clothes on and a cup of coffee discarded on the dresser where you’d been standing putting on deodorant.

“I miss you when you’re at work,” he mumbles. A hand squeezes at your stomach affectionately. “I don’t see you for seven hours straight. That should be illegal.” He’s almost pouting now, you realize, and you huff out a laugh.

“I know, baby.” You turn slightly on his lap, tracking a hand through his hair and roughing it up, big and fluffy. You shrug his arms off, standing up, and before he can get a word of protest out you’re settling into his lap again, knees straddling his thighs. This is better, he decides. Can see your pretty face. A dopey smile climbs his lips and your cheeks heat.

His hands slide up your thighs, coming to rest on your hips and pulling to bring you closer. His face tilts up only slightly and you know what he wants. Stroking his cheek with your thumb, you lean down and press a kiss to his lips. Then two. Then three, until he’s sighing into your mouth and hugging you closer.

“Does my breath stink?” He asks suddenly, bowing his head to kiss at your jaw. You shrug, hands resting on his shoulders.

“Not really. You just taste like spit.” His nose wrinkles, and he gives you an odd look. “It’s not weird,” you defend and kiss him once more. “Just you.”

“Please don’t go,” he whines brokenly as you manage to pull away from his pleading face and head for the door. The smile on your face is gentle and he pouts upon seeing it.

“I’ll call at lunch, Karl. Okay?”

His brows furrow and he falls back onto the comforter with a ‘hmph’.

“Okay,” he calls when he hears your keys jingle by the front door.

“I love you.” You pause, coffee in hand and bag slung over your shoulder.

“Love you too,” comes muffled from the bedroom, and you know he’s stuffing his face in your pillow and hiding underneath all the sheets and blankets like a scared dog during a thunderstorm. You just shake your head.

You loved your boyfriend, but your dad didn’t. Your dad wasn’t fond of anyone in your room, let alone the boy he just happens to tolerate. There wasn’t much you and Karl could do in your cramped room, but of course, you made it work. “Go and open the door a bit, he’ll get mad,” you whisper against Karl’s lips. “No,” he smiled, leaving small kisses on your cheek. Your relationship wasn’t hidden or anything, it was just… preferred to be behind closed doors. Especially when your father was home. You were pretty sure Karl was scared of him, he wouldn’t stop saying “yes chief” and “I’ll have them home by 10 chief.”

You liked to spend time with Karl, you really did. After what happened with your sister and everything last year, you needed a safe place, Karl did too. Maybe it was the fact that Hopper already lost one daughter that he was so protective over you and El. You knew how harsh he was on Mike, so reasonably you were nervous to bring home Karl, but it seemed that Karl was more nervous than you and Hopper combined. Bringing your attention back to your boyfriend, he smiled at you and softly pushed you onto the bed.

“Karl!” You laughed as Karl pressed soft kisses on your cheek. Upon hearing your fathers step towards your room you quickly push Karl off you, pretending to be doing something productive. “3 inches!” You hear your dad yell while he pushes open the door. He stood at the door frame, looking at both your confused states. Karl shoots him an awkward smile as your dad lets a relieved breath out. “You need something?” You ask. “Uh no, but please, if you don’t mind, for the sake of your poor old dad, keep the door open three inches.”

"Y/n," a voice whispered through the dark. You rolled over and saw Karl's figure poking his head into the room, silhouetted by the thin streak of light from the hallway pouring into the room. "Are you awake?"

"I am now," you mumbled sleepily as you rubbed your eye. "What?"

"I wanna show you something."

You glanced at the clock on your nightstand and fell back on your bed. "It's two in the morning, Karl."

He walked into the room a little further, closing the door gently behind him. He quietly approached your bed and brushed some hair out of your face as you stared sleepily up at him.

"I want to sleep," you continued. You closed your eyes and rolled back over in his silence. "I've been traveling all day."

"Y/n. Have you ever seen fireflies?"

You sat up quickly and looked at him, child-like wonder in your eyes. "No," you admitted excitedly. There weren't fireflies where you lived, but since you were visiting Karl in North Carolina for the first time, this was your first chance to see the bright bugs.

"You want to?" After watching you nod quickly, he smiled and said, "then put on some pants, silly. It's chilly outside."

You got out of bed in a hurry, as if the fireflies would disappear from the night sky if you took a second too long. You found a pair of sweatpants on the floor, which were probably Karl's considering how big they were on you, and slipped them on over your night shorts. Karl smiled fondly at you and you pouted up at him. "What?"

"You're just cute. Come on." He grabbed your hand and pulled you through the house to the back door, sliding it open and leading out to the yard. You stopped on the porch in amazement, but he continued walking to the backyard and looked up into the night sky.

Your eyes widened in awe as you watched hundreds of twinkling lights fly around Karl gently. He spread his arms out and slowly twirled until he looked at you. "Come here," he beckoned and how could you say no to him? You hopped off the porch and walked until you stood next to him, wrapping your arms around his torso and looking at the glowing bugs all around. He wrapped his arms around you and held you close.

"They're beautiful," you said. The spring air was cold on your skin but hugging him warmed you up from head to toe.

"This one is so close," Karl whispered, making you pull back and look up at him. A firefly was inching closer every time it blinked, momentarily making a spot on Karl's cheek glow from its proximity. He giggled and reached up to capture the bug between his cupped hands. He put his hands between your faces and looked into your eyes. "Ready?"

You nodded eagerly and watched his hands. He slowly pulled them apart and revealed the bug sitting in his palm, blinking with light every few seconds. "Wow," you dragged out genuinely, amazed.

"The longer you stay here, the more nights we can catch fireflies."
