Hierarchy really is a shit high school bullying revenge drama. They let the whole group get away so easily and I was so PISSED when I watched ep7, talking about "this is our punishment, the fact that we can't be together for having this kid killed" LIKE ARE YOUUUU FUCKING SERIOUS? I thought this was a Eat The Rich™️ type of drama but it seems that even the story doesn't know what it wants to be lmao. And I think it's been a while since I've despised a character as much as I despise Kim Ri-an. Maybe I irrationally hate him, maybe I'm alone in this, but I wanted him to get off that high horse sooo bad, I wanted this fucker to get shot. Also I know the female lead is supposed to be stoic and cold, but most times I felt like the acting was weak and the character felt like an empty canvas as her emotions weren't portrayed well enough. It was hard to connect to her for a while, though I did end up liking her. But yeah this drama was a waste of my fucking time.

My Liberation Notes

As the name suggests, the drama revolves around the theme of liberation.

The story is about people who are fed up with the monotony of their life, and wish to be liberated.

One of the reasons I liked this drama is becuz of the reality they have portrayed. Everything is raw. Yes, unemployment exists in the world. It is hard to make ends meet. People aren't happy. Maintaining relationships is difficult. How are you supposed to live in a world like this?

The drama is tense, gripping and deals with heavy topics. But at the same time it's inspirational. I'd say it is more of a slice of life drama than a romcom. It is v v slow. But the storyline demands that. And you can't watch it in 2x speed becuz it just doesn't feel right. And it engages you so well that you don't even feel the need to watch it in 2x. It is a slow-burn melodramatic story with a lot of character development.

The drama emphasizes on familial bonds, forgiveness, seconds chances and LOVE.

When you start watching it you don't even understand where the story is going. Everything is so random. Also, tbh the storyline is very random. It feels like visiting random days in the life of the characters. It feels as if we're being transported into their lives and what we're watching is a small sequence from their lives. Ngl I wanted to see more. It is just so well crafted that I didn't want it to end.

The cast has done such a great job. Kim Ji Won is a versatile actress. Period.

All in all, I loved it. And it felt relatable. Just like. The drama was like a pat on the back. It screamed "you're not alone".

yeah when suho woke up it was such an emotional moment, it was also the first time we saw sieun smile since the start of the season 😭 i really liked both seasons, and the episodes are super short (compared to most kdramas), so it’s an easy watch. also, park jihoon (sieun) is insanely good... he acts with just his eyes, it’s incredible!

I am going through a Kdrama slump people 😔 only watching High School Return of a Gangster which it is so freaking good, I need more people to be watching it. Honestly pissed that they removed the BL aspect (the manhwa is amazing) even though you can feel it is supposed to be a BL, but it is still a good drama. Anyway I have dropped everything else cause I am not feeling it 🫤 it is like after I dropped The Midnight Romance in Hagwon everything has felt like a chore 🫤. Now I 100% understand why people love it, the slow build and watching them fall in love. Which is normally my favourite thing but I just cba idk if it is because of Lovely Runner, The Atypical Family or even Queen Of Tears and every fucking emotion they put me through this year but nothing is sticking except High School Return of a Gangster, hoping that there is about to be another Kdrama that knocks me off my damn feet and hoping it is A Prefabricated Family 🤞🏾

MY DEMON RANT (AGAIN) 😭

NAH BUT THIS TIME I AM ACTUALLY LIKE FUMING. So basically I just finished ep 14 and my friends still on like ep 12 so imma rant to tumblr. But like your telling me that this whole time Dohee's parents were killed by the people she loved most? And why is it that everyone's angry that Guwon killed her dad but nobody's mad about madam Ju killing her mum? Like a few years of repenting does nothing when u killed someone for business vs Guwon who killed someone cuz he has to in order to not burn up in flames and cease to exist and it's not like he knew that it was the dad of his future wife. Like ik it's obviously bad but when u rly break it down he was just trying to live. And its the way Dohee never gave him a chance to explain or talk things through like babes ik he killed your dad but like healthy relationships need communication. and on top of that when he had the chance to do so he just told her to "save herself" from him. Like it pissed me off so much, not to mention the cousin being there for her again in her time of need. Like he rly pisses me off cuz like she's fucking married and yet he still wants to be her night in shining armour like bro she's never gonna fuck you move on please I beg. Like imma watch episode 15 once I've calmed down a bit but like rn I'm so pissed istg.

I started watching Nevertheless knowing that the main relationship was horribly toxic, in fact, ts was part of the appeal!

I can get down with a good unhealthy relationship, they can be wonderful media and create complex characters that are incredibly interesting. That, and I just think they're really entertaining

That being said... this show constantly had me switching sides. I was actively rooting against Jae-eon, Song Kang, I was rooting against *Song Kang!* because during the first few episodes he just felt vaguely conniving. I could never do a situationship, I'm learning, because I'd be so irritated and also fall for every crumb of affection

I'm on like ep 5 and I don't know who to root for as the ml. I love Jae-eon and obviously we see more of his character with every new episode. I do feel that he likes Na-bi, even if he isn't good at expressing it in the best of ways, but his behavior is enraging at times. The other guy is so sweet, but like, he feels too sweet. And it feels mean rooting against Jae-eon as we grow to see that he's kind of a sad person.

We're at the end of episode 7 and Dahae is still a plot device and we're barely getting her character fleshed out; the writers are refusing to give her more screentime in which we learn and explore new things about her outside of her existence being a plot device for the Bok family + for her male love interest. I had an idea that we'd see more of her in the world, in a new scam perhaps, or with a new sense of urgency that doesn't benefit Bok Gwijoo. My expectations are always low watching kdramas but holy shit, the way they write the female lead characters in these fantasy dramas is so disheartening. There are 12 episodes in total and we're passed 6 now with still no Dahae's arc of her own. It's so disrespectful how even her trauma solely serves the male lead's character development. And I still don't see how she's in love with him? The other characters are saying she loves him and has feelings for him but... they barely know each other. There is no moment in the drama until now that she ever loved him. The timeframe they spent together, he was a depressed drunk with a shitty attitude and the only thing she'd realistically feel towards him is pity. I don't know if I'm going to keep watching this because I am very disappointed with the lost potential of the female lead. This episode just made me realize that I might be wasting my time because the writers seem to not have any interest in expanding Dahae on her own. Like, as a viewer, I barely know much about her. Her trauma doesn't make her who she is, despite being a part of her; Bok Gwijoo & his powers doesn't make her who she is, regardless of how special she is; her scams and her scam family do not make her who she is, they're fake and she'll leave them one day anyway. The question I've being asking myself since the second episode is, just who the hell is Do Dahae? She intrigued me so much and now we're halfway through the story, and this question is left unanswered and is being ignored for the purpose of making her existence serve the other characters. She's a fucking plot device. And I'm so fucking pissed.

So i tried watching penthouse and godd I have never seen such an insanely ridiculous show

Okay but what's really cool is that you can see these artists really studied the performance aspects of Kpop. The way the promo video is filmed. The variety shows, the fashion of Huntrix, and especially the performance of Saja Boys (since we saw more of their performance whereas we saw the fighting aspect more for huntrix). I mean they really really nailed the performance aspect.

Like in soda pop; the debut was refreshing fresh and charming therefore the gazes were softer—the part where Abs guy brings down his collar for a second for the "refreshing" part of the lyrics— that would actually be a well thought out choreography in real life (reminscent of Txt, Tws, BND, NCT dream, Riize, and Pentagon in their early days).

And then their second song—Your Idol—was darker and therefore their gazes changed (hungrier and sensous) and their moves were sharper (with literal claws). Kpop HAS that duality in gaze. And especially when the rapper (Baby Saja?) brings his claws down his face for the "fame made me viral" part? Adlib definitely (reminscent of Ateez, Enhypen, Monsta X, Stray Kids, Seventeen, The boyz, Onlyoneof, Pentagon, Exo, NCT and Big Bang—especially in the rap aspects—and Got7). THEY REALLY NAILED IT.

TELL ME HOW AI CAN REPLICATE THIS. THAT'S WHY HUMAN ARTISTS WILL ALWAYS BE SUPERIOR

My demon rant cuz ep 12

Okay because I'm so angry. Like first off what kind of God is this?? Like bitch?? U rly saw a depressed guy get revenge for the women he loved by murdering his village and then commit suicide and u decided it would be a good idea to use that hatred to create the devil? Like what kind of fucked up bitch would do that? Secondly Star Jin asked Guwon to just be her director for one more day. He literally had to watch her performance and be nice and caring but no he couldn't even watch the performance without telling dohee what he should've told her hours ago. Like we get u don't love star Jin but like she's been nothing but loving to u even when u couldn't care less and u couldn't just give her, her last wish before she leaves Korea after u broke her heart? Like I'm not angry that he broke her heart bc like u can't control who u love but why doesn't he care that he's hurt her and why can't he just give her 1 day of being her director??? Lastly why when everythings becoming some what okay again do we get whatever the last scene of ep 12 was. Like did he make a deal with dohee's parents that caused their death cuz of like the whole 10 year thing and madam ju saw or like what? Like I'm confused, outraged, angry and frustrated af. Also the whole thing with madam ju's son and his wife and son is confusing as hell. Like is he Manipulating them or are they Manipulating him or what?? Like who's the real bad guy? The husband or the wife??
