Note
not to sound insane but i think the gamine/dramatic dynamic also exists for irl couples as well (as a FG with a D spouse)
maybe it's a life imitates art thing that IRL couples pair that way, too. because this D/G and N/R pattern has been present for centuries in cultural depictions.
fountain in vienna. athena is natural, nike is romantic.
Tumblr media
it's so widespread, it has to influence us. or do these combinations have a destined pull by nature and art just follows? i suspect the former, i'm just overwhelmed by how much this goes way back.
geb & nut with shu (ancient egypt). she is dramatic, they are gamine.
Tumblr media
i do see the typical "natural x romantic" couple on the street also, these two image IDs are super common in the population, and are considered the dichotomy from the start.
vishnu and laxmi (hindu gods). he is natural, she is romantic.
Tumblr media
izanami and izanagi (japanese creation myth). he is natural, she is romantic.
Tumblr media
dramatic is more rare, gamines are less so IRL, but they are both very niche or counterculture, or more confined to a certain branch or aesthetic. still, been there from the beginning, too.
greek vase. the man on the left is dramatic, the right one gamine.
Tumblr media
other IRL matches are sometimes neighboring types rather than opposites. couples with similar heights, similar width, similar bone structure. this is the second most common pattern in art, too.
tristan and isolde (waterhouse). he is natural, she is dramatic.
Tumblr media
the kiss (klimt). he is natural, she is dramatic.
Tumblr media
two Ns or a dramatic paired with natural is a very common trend in politics because yang body types are often shown in spheres of power, "no feminine yin weakness allowed", mirroring one another.
creation of adam (michelangelo). two naturals.
Tumblr media
the yin with yin couples have become less predominant. but the middle ages had them all. gamines and gamines, romantics with romantics. very whimsical yin art period.
tender embrace (guillebert de mets). two gamines.
Tumblr media
classic and classic often stay among each other or pair with dramatics IRL and in art. every rule has an exception: classic as the most rare type is the odd one out.
apollo and daphne (bernini). both classics.
Tumblr media
i'm so curious as to how this all came about. is this cherrypicking or a larger pattern? chicken or the egg? are artists aware of this? why do we choose one kibbe match over another? is it subconscious and why? is there evolution at play? what i'm sure is, this won't go anywhere anytime soon because:
flamboyant natural han and theatrical romantic leia.
Tumblr media
... modern media has the same kibbe matches! so, you're not insane seeing these everywhere, on screen or off.

Sabrina Claudio: Kibbe Analysis
Kibbe Romantics are described as having double curve and soft fleshy bodies. They are extreme yin. I feel like this type is very under represented in modern media and Romantic individuals probably suffer the most from current fast fashion trends.
All that aside, I think Sabrina Claudio is pure R. She's 5'5
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She clearly embodies the "dreamspinner" essence of Romantics but beyond that, lets take a look at her body.
She has Romantic, Ethereal and Dramatic essence
Tumblr media
Fleshiness is a good way to tell if someone is a Romantic type. (obviously Fleshiness alone cannot determine someone's Kibbe type)
Tumblr media
She has upper curve and lower curve
Tumblr media
She does not have "width"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left- Sabrina Claudio
Right- Jennifer Lopez
Notice how JLo looks strong, her body is more athletic and tougher looking? Sabrina's body is more fleshy, softer more gentle seeming. Look at how differently bodycon dresses fit their bodies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now I cant find too many good outfit pics of Sabrina :( but based on these we can see how the top row outfits are all kind of drape-y and flatter her more than the bottom row outfits that completely clash with her Kibbe type and essences.

Personal Style(Colours) + Astrology
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: My opinion👍
Fire signs:
Aries - Looks so good in beige, intense shades of red, dark blue, dark green, washed out yellow, Carnelian, they suit a laid back and chill style but also classy modern look. They suit Zara clothes a lot.
Leo- White, Jewel Tones, Classic Red, Orange, Yellow (Royal Royal Royal) anything that adds a touch of majesty.
Sagittarius- Red, Black, Charcoal grey, Colours which are a mix- indigo, turquoise etc, Copper… Very adventurous, motorbikes, leather jackets and all of that good stuff (80s vibe)
Water signs:
Cancer: Baby Pink, Baby Blue, a lot of Muted Colours look good on them too. I think When it comes to aesthetic, cancer is more fixated on hygiene rather than the little details.
Scorpio: Magenta, Maroon, darker shades in general , Silver. Maleficent vibes. HAHA (it’s true though, maleficent is so Plutonian) they look so good wearing outfits of one colour.
Pisces: white, most shades of blue, muted orange, salmon pink, look good with shimmery details too. Basically mermaid vibes. You want everything to seamlessly blend as if you were underwater.
Earth Signs:
Virgo: sage green, light yellow, caramel, light brown… very earthy colours for virgo. Simple clothes with no logos or details look super good too.
Capricorn: very solid colours, the basic colours on the colour wheel lol. Sophisticated styles very much so.
Taurus: They look good in classic colours, 1950s palette really suits them. They look very good mixing multiple colours from a classic palette/look
Air Signs:
Gemini: look super good in stripes, patterned shirts, clothes with patterns in general look super good. The influence of mercury here is making it hard for me to pin them down to specific shades. But I notice that 90s style can look super good on them and lean towards that unintentionally.
Aquarius: they look so good in ethereal colours, mixing ethereal colours with solid colours. Colours that remind you of the cosmos. ~Alien~
Libra: they look good in Y2K style very easily they gravitate towards that tbh, Barbie colours, very stereotypically feminine shades and colours… (basically most things) but in a way that stands out. NO washed out clothes/details. I think the muted colour that really suits them is beige.
I will be posting about Astrology& Personal Style on my YouTube Account too ;)

A Flamboyant Natural doesn’t mean you’re locked into “tomboy chic” or "Boho style" forever. Sure, you’ve got a strong frame, and that effortlessly cool presence, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look adorable or totally womanly. That whole idea that FNs can’t wear cute or feminine stuff? Unfortunately, some things did not age well in time like how natural types are talked about.
Flamboyant Naturals can wear cute~ Think breezy dresses with soft prints, puff sleeves on relaxed silhouettes, wide-leg pants with sweet crop tops, or even fitted tanks with playful detailing. You look best when things are a little unstructured but still intentional, like an off-the-shoulder sweater, a fun patterned mini dress with some shape, or a flared midi skirt that moves with you. Flamboyant Naturals can be cute.
Most runaway models can pull off cute stuff and a lot of them are D and FNs :)

How to Dress for Your Body Type (Kibbe Style Guide)
Finding the right style that complements your unique body shape can be transformative. The Kibbe body type system, developed by David Kibbe in the 1980s, provides a holistic approach to dressing for your natural silhouette. Unlike conventional systems that focus solely on size or proportion, the Kibbe style guide combines physical features with personality and essence to create a harmonious look. Here's an in-depth, guide to dressing for your Kibbe body type.
What is the Kibbe System?
The Kibbe system categorizes body types into five main families: Dramatic, Natural, Classic, Gamine, and Romantic. Each family has subtypes, making a total of 13 distinct categories. These categories are based on the yin-yang balance of your body structure, facial features, and overall essence:
Dramatic: Sharp, angular lines (Yang-dominant).
Natural: Relaxed and uncontrived (Yang with soft edges).
Classic: Balanced and symmetrical (Equal Yin-Yang).
Gamine: Petite and playful (Mixed Yin-Yang in a compact form).
Romantic: Soft, curvy lines (Yin-dominant).
How to Identify Your Kibbe Body Type
To determine your Kibbe type, consider your bone structure, body flesh, and facial features. Online tests, guides, and professional consultations can help, but self-assessment is key. Pay attention to whether your features lean more angular (Yang) or soft (Yin) and how they blend together.
Dressing Tips for Each Kibbe Body Type
1. Dramatic
Dramatics thrive in bold, structured designs that emphasize their angularity.
Tumblr media
Key Features: Long lines, sharp angles, and a commanding presence.
Best Clothing Styles: Tailored blazers, straight-leg pants, monochrome outfits, and dramatic high necklines.
Avoid: Overly frilly or delicate details, as they clash with your natural sharpness.
2. Soft Dramatic
A subtype of Dramatic, Soft Dramatics combine sharpness with a touch of Yin softness.
Best Clothing Styles: Bold, flowing fabrics, asymmetrical designs, plunging necklines, and dramatic accessories.
Avoid: Boxy cuts or overly stiff fabrics that downplay your curves.
3. Natural
Naturals shine in unstructured, relaxed outfits that highlight their easygoing essence.
Tumblr media
Key Features: Broad shoulders, slightly blunt features, and a casual vibe.
Best Clothing Styles: Loose cardigans, linen dresses, relaxed denim, and earthy tones.
Avoid: Overly tailored or fussy details.
4. Soft Natural
Soft Naturals need a blend of relaxed structure and gentle curves.
Best Clothing Styles: Peasant blouses, wrap dresses, soft knits, and layered looks.
Avoid: Stiff fabrics and overly angular designs.
5. Flamboyant Natural
With added drama, Flamboyant Naturals can pull off oversized and bold styles.
Tumblr media
Best Clothing Styles: Statement coats, wide-legged trousers, and dramatic prints.
Avoid: Overly delicate or dainty pieces.
6. Classic
Classics look best in timeless, symmetrical styles that emphasize balance.
Key Features: Evenly proportioned and refined.
Best Clothing Styles: Tailored suits, pencil skirts, A-line dresses, and simple jewelry.
Avoid: Over-the-top trends or excessive detailing.
7. Soft Classic
Soft Classics need a touch of Yin softness to their balanced look.
Best Clothing Styles: Feminine blouses, soft pleats, subtle patterns, and delicate accessories.
Avoid: Harsh lines or overly loose fits.
8. Dramatic Classic
A dramatic twist to the Classic balance, Dramatic Classics excel in sharp but symmetrical designs.
Tumblr media
Best Clothing Styles: Structured blazers, tailored jumpsuits, and bold yet refined patterns.
Avoid: Overly flowy or casual designs.
9. Gamine
Gamines embrace playful, high-contrast styles that highlight their petite frame.
Key Features: Compact and youthful with a mix of Yin and Yang.
Best Clothing Styles: Cropped jackets, ankle pants, quirky patterns, and bold accessories.
Avoid: Overly long or flowy pieces.
10. Soft Gamine
Soft Gamines blend playful energy with gentle curves.
Tumblr media
Best Clothing Styles: Ruffled blouses, short skirts, intricate patterns, and layered jewelry.
Avoid: Heavy or overly structured styles.
11. Flamboyant Gamine
Flamboyant Gamines shine in edgy, high-contrast outfits with angular details.
Best Clothing Styles: Sharp crop tops, bold prints, statement accessories, and graphic lines.
Avoid: Overly delicate or symmetrical designs.
12. Romantic
Romantics thrive in soft, feminine designs that highlight their Yin-dominant features.
Tumblr media
Key Features: Curvy, delicate, and graceful.
Best Clothing Styles: Draped dresses, lace details, floral prints, and soft pastels.
Avoid: Stiff fabrics or boxy silhouettes.
13. Theatrical Romantic
With added drama, Theatrical Romantics can pull off intricate yet feminine looks.
Best Clothing Styles: Structured but soft gowns, ornate jewelry, and sharp waist emphasis.
Avoid: Overly plain or loose styles.
General Kibbe Styling Tips
Focus on Harmony: Your clothes should complement your natural features, not overpower or contradict them.
Know Your Fabrics: Choose fabrics that align with your type—soft for Yin, structured for Yang.
Accessorize Thoughtfully: Accessories should echo your overall style—bold for Dramatic, delicate for Romantic.
Stay True to Your Essence: Authenticity is key. Dress in a way that feels natural to you.
Final Thoughts
Understanding your Kibbe body type can revolutionize the way you approach fashion. It’s not about fitting into trends but about embracing your unique essence. Use this guide to build a wardrobe that makes you feel confident, harmonious, and stylish. By dressing in alignment with your Kibbe type, you’ll achieve a look that’s effortlessly chic and uniquely you.

Has anyone else gotten super into body type analyses, colour seasons, essences etc? Because I swear it has become my personality.
The whole thing has made me more confident too because I'm not trying to fit into one ideal body type, I'm trying to dress to suit my own unique one.
What I've found
Kibbe: Dramatic
Kitschener Essence: Dramatic and Classic
Colour Season: Winter
People that I'm using as Inspo
Regina Mills, Once Upon a Time
Maleficent, Once Upon a Time
Rio, Agatha All Along
Agatha, Agatha All Along
Old Hollywood Vixens
Classic Vampire Imagery, Morticia Addams etc
And, all my fave shades of pink are on my palette, so Elle remains right at the top of my mood board, as does Barbie-especially some of what Margot Robbie wore. I can especially keep Draculaura, which I'm THRILLED about.
If anyone wants more posts about dressing for your type etc then let me know! Honestly, stylist is kind of a dream job, so hit me up!

some positive things i like about the kibbe body type system:
13 types in total is a lot of room to breathe. not too divisive, not too restrictive, not out of hand. that there are sytems that generalize/boil us all down to like three shapes is wild.
subtypes just make sense. it’s hard to distinguish sometimes, but there is truth to it.
it helps with body image and goes against trends/overconsumption.
it’s popular enough to have enough kibbe geeks and gurus out there so each of us can find someone who can (re-)explain it best lmao!
at some point, studying it does yield a result. it can take months or a journey of years, but it does work its magic.
how lines are just lines, totally neutral. that’s why - with some practice - typing men also works out just fine. i like how kibbe is for everyone if we proceed to apply it so.
once you get better at typing clothes on the hanger (patience needed there, i know), it’ll save you time, money, stress.
if you fall out of love with it or despair, coming back to it later and learning it again leaves you stunned.
actually trying out your correct recommendation does drop your jaw (and other people’s, humans do perceive harmony collectively). kibbe’s so intuitively right about many things in fact.
once you get the hang of it, and dare i say that, it becomes so satisfying.
the longevity of this system sticking around and having yet another and another rennaissance. i think that’s an incredible testament and feat.

Touchstarved LI Kibbe Body Types
I am no expert on this topic, but I thought it was something I could do for fun.
Tumblr media
I think Kuras (my favorite) is a beautiful Dramatic -perhaps Soft Dramatic- due to his extremely long vertical line, gracious but sharp features, and a certain dryness we can appreciate around the collar bone area. Long hands... Chef kiss.
Tumblr media
I headcanon both Ais and Leander as Naturals -Leander could also be Soft Natural-. They both have that athletic upper body wideness, broad chests and muscular fleshiness.
Tumblr media
I think Vere is a Theatrical Romantic. His sharpness is combined with a softer bone structure and a shorter vertical line. I also have the feeling that is a category he would easily picture himself into.
Tumblr media
I headcanon Mhin as a Soft Gamin because of their youthful (almost childish) air, short vertical line. Soft features that, however, are not humble nor easily overpowered.

omg! your typing of alicia vikander left me bamboozled. i thought she was FN. doesn't she have that squarish body shape that you mentioned models usually have? like, i agree that she looks more dainty than angelina but she still looks super athletic no 🤔
she does have a square torso but she looks tiny and small not athletic or model like. she is 168cms/5'6 inches but looks much smaller. she has relatively short limbs and a "petite frame" and very delicate features as well.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(L to R)
Marion Cotillard, Alicia Vikander, Olivia de Havilland, Laura Linney & Kirsten Dunst
All the above women (except Alicia ofc) are verified Soft Classics. You can tell how they all have delicate features and a harmonious yin-yang balance. No individual feature stands out but together everything looks harmonious.
Tumblr media
she's not in the least athletic looking. which is why imo, she was horribly miscast as lara croft.
she looks like a ballerina (and she did study ballet for several years), very soft, very classic but has some yang to her although its not very pronounced.
also remember, having abs =/= to being athletic or being an FN
Tumblr media
even when she's ripped, she still looks small and delicate tbh
there is no way in hell she could ever be FN
I also think her official height is an exaggeration and she's probably 5'4 irl

What are your thoughts on the kibbe body type system? Any tips for a soft dramatic?
I think it's fairly baseless and outdated, honestly. The whole concept does really sound like what it is –  a mansplanation of women's body types and features. Personally, I believe the best way to understand your features is to determine the following traits for your personal body type, proportion, and facial structure:
Body shape (a fairly useful calculator is HERE). Some more information on the different body types can be found HERE. There are some caveats here that relate to bone structure (for example, I'm a "flat-chested hourglass" essentially – the bone structure is the same as an hourglass, but my fat/muscle distribution is different than the traditional hourglass, which is classified as by having a larger bust)
Determining your proportions (longer torso and shorter legs, shorter torso/legs, balanced proportions, etc.)
Understanding where your frame is widest (e.g. broad shoulders/hips. wide ribcage) vs. where you hold the most/least fat or muscle on your body (Knowing where you gain/lose weight first can also help you answer this question)
Figure out your face shape (I think this calculator offers a good jumping-off point, but I would read some articles about the subject to confirm your particular face shape. I got my face shape (triangle) on the second try, lol) and which features are most prominent/subdued on your face (e.g. big head/small head, big/small eyes – close together/farther apart, thin or thick lips, nose size/shape, brow shape/thickness, plumpness of cheeks/jawline definition)
Then, determine which clothes/accessories/hairstyles flatter your body type and face shape/size to "balance" your head-to-toe look. E.g. if you have a pear-shaped body with slender, long arms and a square-shaped face, consider wearing a loose cami with bootcut jeans with a large pendant necklace and a bouncy, layered lob to balance/flatter all of your proportions.
Hope this helps xx
