Stella’s current goal, as she is only 13 years old, is to beat her father’s detention record. Keefe Sencen, who has the longest record in foxfire history, seems to be encouraging this behavior instead of discouraging it.

POTENTIAL

Ever since Stella was a young elf, she’d been hearing stories about the adventures her parents have had to face. And as Stella grew, she realized just how famous and important her parents were. This caused Stella to be determined to do something just as important. And sometimes she feels that she is not living up to her potential.

Along with Teleplathy, Stella is also a Commander. This is a rather new ability that was introduced years ago because of Keefe Sencen. Keefe seemed to pass it down to Stella when she was born. But he never lets her forget the power could be used very dangerously as it was for him.

A RARE ABILITY

Jax is an inflictor, which isn’t the most common ability to have. When Jax was young, he didn’t know how to control his abilities and accidentally inflicted on his family and friends. Thankfully, when he started at Foxfire, Sophie Foster volunteered to mentor him. The council still keeps a very close eye on him.

A STRONG OPINION

The ongoing debate for the Matchmaking ban has influenced many including Jax, who’s the son of a bad match, to stand up for what’s right. He is against matchmaking and hopes the ban gets passed for a better future.

Jax believes that the murderer of his twelve year old sister, Maselle, was his own older brother, Ethane. Jaxon has yet to prove this claim, but he strongly holds onto it.

Given their homeschooling, Aaron’s family is extremely close. Aaron wants to grow up to be a powerful shade like his father, and works extremely hard. His mother is a planner, and loves to host parties. No matter how busy they are, they always make time for him.

Aaron’s abilities are by far the best of his generation. His level in schooling underestimates the raw talent he has. His father knows that some day, Aaron will be the best shade there ever was.

Very soon, on June 14at 11:59 P.M. EDT, you will be able to sign up for the exchange! Below is an example of how to do so. It's a bit of an involved process, but it's worth it!

Please remember that you must first join the Discord and put your AO3 username in your nickname, so we know who you are!

To sign up, go to the AO3 collection.

You will be making at least three requests (things you want to receive) and four offers (things you want to make). You will only make and receive one gift, but you need to request and offer a few things so you're more likely to match.

You'll be signing up based on specific nominated fanworks. Nominations are still open until June 25, so get those in! You can view the spreadsheet of nominated works here.

Okay, let's sign up! First, if you use pseuds on AO3, you can select the pseud you'd like to sign up as. I'm going to set it to everliving-everblaze, my KotLC pseud.

Let's make our first request!

For this, I'm going to say that I'd like to see fanart of the fanfiction Wildest Dreams.

I'd like it to focus on either of the main characters, Sophie or Keefe. Your gifter will get to pick from your list which character to focus on, so I'll select both.

Okay! Now my gifter knows what type of gift I want (art), what work I want it to be based on (Wildest Dreams), and which characters I'd be interested in seeing be the focus (Sophie or Keefe).

Next is categories. If your gifter includes multiple characters, this tells them if you're interested in shipping or not. I'm gonna say I'd like it to be either Gen (no ship focus) or F/M (female/male ship focus). If I was interested in a gender-changed work, or Sophie and Keefe weren't the relationship I was interested in, I might select the others as well.

Then warnings. I'm going to choose the warnings I'm okay with being included. This doesn't mean they have to be included. It just means I'm fine with it. In this case, I don't want either thing, so I'm going to pick "No Archive Warnings Apply."

Almost there! The last part is description. This is where I can put things like prompts, likes, and my DNW (things I don't want included in the gift). I'm going to include all three, so my gifter has a good idea of what will be a good gift for me!

One more request example! I'm going to say that I'd love to see just about anything based on bookwyrminspiration's fic Shattered Upside Down.

Now, there are a couple different things I've done with this request. One is that since I'm requesting podfic, and I have some podfic-specific dislikes, I've included a podfic DNW. That's totally allowed!

The other thing is that I've requested any character. If you choose to do this, please be sure that you really mean any! That includes original characters and characters that you may dislike or find annoying. Even if you only find certain characters distasteful in some circumstances, it might be a good idea not to request them just in case!

not a dumb question at all!!!! and tbh i think itd really depend on the giftee themselves and what their preferences are? if im being honest i think itd be hard to suddenly add that as an option to the form and work it in with the responses ive already gotten and i am SO sorry about that /gen but if ppl say they'd be into it then it could definitely be an option for next year? again i'm genuinely so sorry (and if maybe you want to give writing/drawing a shot! then it would be awesome if you could still participate this year)

you focused on Percy Jackson, which isnt a fandom that im in (i will soon, i wanna get into it lol) but i AM in KOTLC and Harry Potter, but specifically the marauders tho.

and i think me being in the marauders fandom really shows my craving for representation. i didnt really grow up with these fandoms. there were there or recommended, and then i got interested and got really into them. maybe if i had grown up with Harry Potter, i would have put the same amount of love I put into the marauders and kotlc.

dont get me wrong, i still love the characters and all. its all very amusing to me, but i feel like i can connect with the marauders more. its fun to see how people flesh out characters and give personalitys to charcters that have been mentioned once. how theyve been made more relatable. all their chaos and whatnot. i dint feel like i have that freedom with the next gen/era. maybe i could flesh out the characters lives as adults, but i cant relate. also, because a lot of things is fanon, we can make it as realistic or unrealistic we want it to. obviosly, there is a lot more i can add on about why i like the marauders era, but as an overview, that might be it.

now, if we go to kotlc, i got into it becaused two of my friends got into it, unlike the marauders. i kinda found the marauders fandom myself and didnt really tell anyone for a while (but when i did, I DID). kotlc is meant for kids, so there really cant be much stuff that can be meant for older audiences ig.

I love pjo and hoo and toa and all of the series more than life itself. but in every single book, these kids get traumatized over and over and over again. I mean, how many times have they almost died? how many times have they seen each other almost die? how many times have they seen their friends die? how many times have they been unable to stop it? plus all the times they've killed people and monsters, too - Percy, annabeth, and nico went to literal TARTARUS for gods' sake. so I guess my point is, I wish the books had gone more in depth into the mental toll all this took on the characters. we had a bit of that in tsats, but it was brushed upon at most and it was only nico. I want to see percy getting panic attacks when he goes into a basement that feels a little too much like the labyrinth. I want to see annabeth hesitant to go near percy during a battle because she can remember so clearly the look on his face as he choked the goddess of misery on her own poison. I want to see leo's sarcasm defense crack. I want to see the stolls pull grover's ankle to trip him before they notice that his fear is far too deep to be caused just by them. he's thinking about being dragged to the pits of tartarus by his shoes.

anyway, I understand that the audience for pjo is young so this isn't stuff Rick can really go into, but also, the audience has grown up with Percy. i started reading it in 4th grade, and here I am now in 9th reading chalice of the gods and thinking it seems so shallow. i still love it, it's super nostalgic (nostalgia unnerves me now lol, after reading cotg) but I wish the themes had grown with the audience if that makes sense. tell me what u think about this? im curious to see if other people thought about this too

Hi! This is the meta anon here (as I'll take to calling myself). I have read your response to the meta and I agree that Keefe doesn't actually do things like apologizing or self-reflection without external consequences to motivate him. This was a regrettable oversight on my part since I confess that I don't spend many hours of my KOTLC fandom exploits specifically loving or hating Keefe.

HOWEVER, I do believe that your hatred could set him on the path to self-reflection. My justification is that he doesn't particularly enjoy being hated. He will try to make you fall in love with him. You'll keep on hating him. Somewhere along the way he may have a good long think about himself because of the consequences.

Justification for the justification: Keefe despises being hated. He (obviously) isn't comfortable being hated by his parents even though he works to make him hate them because they're despicable people to varying but undeniable degrees. There's still a 'popular boy' who's actually a friendless (except for Fitz) kid who feels like he needs to keep up the humor and his trademark smirking (and so forth) to make people like him. The idea that someone hates him so vehemently may even make him take it as a side-project-challenge to make you like him. Cue the self-reflection.

Allow me to explain with a fic (sadly no strieefe for the strieefe enjoyers but. gen). Inspired by Alayda and the Never Change anon. Sincere apologies for probably mischaracterizing you (and Katie).

When on a pleasant Friday evening in September Stria received a message from an unknown number, she blocked the number, posted some fascinating thoughts about Aldella on her Tumblr blog, and then proceeded to go to sleep.

The next morning, she had another message on her phone. In her half-asleep daze she opened the message and read the following:

Hey!! This is Keefe 'Lord Hunky-hair' [last name redacted for annoying-daddy-dearest reasons]. I saw that you blocked my human number yesterday, which was a little mean of you, so I had a Technopath friend of mine unblock it on your phone. It was brought to my attention that you put a lot of effort into hating my guts. Could we maybe fix that up and become friends?

Stria almost deleted the message. But then she saw that the number it was from had been the same number as last night.

Keefe Sencen. The real Keefe Sencen? she thought. Can't be. But she was, after all, the person who had written a seventy-five-page anti Keefe rant essay. She could easily convince an anonymous prankster into hating Keefe right along with her. Even if they had friends who were terrifyingly good at manipulating technology.

Let's play at this game, she decided, and typed: Sure. If you're actually Keefe Sencen, meet me at 12:30pm today, my time zone, at the main entrance of this mall. She dropped a link to a mall reasonably far from her house (which had, by all accounts, a reasonably efficient security team), and then called her good friend Katie to bring some backup with her. She didn't want to take chances with a fun joke turning into a terrible kidnap plot.

'You know it could be the real Keefe, right?' Katie pointed out to her. 'It's not completely impossible.'

Stria told her that it was most certainly not possible enough, and proceeded to pack her bags with necessary weapons (things to throw and a nice stout stick) before setting off.

She arrived at the mall at 12:20pm. Katie arrived at 12:30pm. 'Keefe' arrived, fashionably late, at 12:45pm. Not by car, but by what appeared to be light-leaping.

And it also appeared that the person was Keefe, mussed hair and smirk and all. Or at least this was someone in an incredibly convincing Keefe Sencen cosplay.

'Ohhh,' gasped Katie. 'It IS him! Are you Keefe Sencen? Oh, I can't believe it's you, and I love you so much! I want to examine you under a little microscope! Have I ever told you that I wanted to study you?'

He blinked. 'You're not the hater?'

Katie pointed to Stria, who was sitting on the steps of the mall in full view of the public, staring into the middle distance and trying to wrap her head around the fact that based on what she had just seen, both the Lost Cities and Keefe Sencen were real.

She was going to track Shannon Messenger down and have some strong words with her.

But questioning human existence could come later. For now, she simply stood up and looked Keefe straight in his hex-code-ice-blue eyes.

'It's me,' Stria said. 'I'm the hater.'

Then she pulled out a photocopied and spiral-bound version of her seventy-five-page rant on why she hated Keefe, and slapped it into Keefe's chest. It made an incredibly satisfying thunk. 'If you want to know why I hate you, then read this, and never talk to me again. Or if you do, you'd better have read this entire document.' And with that, she turned on her heel and stormed off.

Katie spent an extra five minutes getting Keefe's number, so as to have better access to him and his fascinating 'himselfness', and then followed Stria home.

i think if i continued to hate keefe, it would not set him on a path of self-reflection, because he wouldn't care enough about my opinion to try to change his ways. heck, he cares about sophie, and he's not even trying to really change for her. he just says whatever he needs to say to appease her, then carries on. so what's going to motivate him to change himself for me, someone who doesn't even like him in the slightest? i would say he's generally indifferent to being hated, unless the person hating him is sophie. think about tam. he doesn't make any effort to try to make tam like him, though he generally knows tam doesn't really like him that much. so there's that.

i don't think keefe does any of that to make people like him . . . it's more of a cover for what's going on at home. everyone falls into the sense of "keefe is this cool, popular kid", and that's all they see of him, so why would they bother trying to think about what his home life must be like? i genuinely don't think keefe cares about being liked. he cares about attention, which is not the same thing. but i doubt he cares whether people like him or not. i think keefe would maybe, at the most, try to try to talk to me to figure out what my problem is with him. it might intrigue him that far. but once he realizes how far my hatred of him goes, i doubt he'd want to interact with me much anymore. and the feeling would certainly be mutual.

Starting tomorrow, June 12, at 11:59 P.M. EDT, you will be able to sign up for the exchange! Below is an example of how to do so. It's a bit of an involved process, but it's worth it!

So, in order to sign up, you will make at least three requests (things you want to receive) and three offers (things you're willing to make). You will only make and receive one gift, but you need to request and offer a few things so you're more likely to match.

I'm going to make my first request. For this, I'm interested in several different fairy tales with a Sophitz take.

First, I select whether I want art or fic. For this one, I'm only interested in receiving fanfiction.

Next, I'll select the relationships I'm interested in. I'm going to choose all three forms of Sophitz (platonic, romantic, or queerplatonic) because I'd be happy with any of them.

Now I'm going to choose some fairy tales I'd be interested in seeing them be a part of.

Okay, great! So I've said I'm okay with any form of Sophitz's relationship in any of these fairy tales. That means it could be a platonic Cinderella AU, a romantic Princess and the Pea AU, or any other combination.

Next is category. I'm okay with Gen (not romance-focused), F/M (female/male romance), or Other (because I selected queerplatonic).

Then warnings. I'm going to choose the warnings I'm okay with being included. This doesn't mean they have to be included. It just means I'm fine with it. In this case, I don't want either thing, so I'm going to pick "No Archive Warnings Apply."

Almost done! Now we're onto description. This is where I can put my prompts and my DNW. My DNW is things I don't want included in the gift, and my gifter is required to follow this.

For my second request, I'm wanting a more adventure-type story. I'm going to give a few platonic pairings as options, and I'm happy with either fic or art for it.

Now I'll put in my fairy tale options—just a couple. I'd like this to not be ship-focused, so I'm only picking Gen. I'm also going to say I'm okay with major character death in this one, but I still don't want graphic violence.

And once again, I'll put my prompts and DNW! I'm going to customize my DNW slightly for the prompt.

Okay, time for my last request!

I'm going to do something a bit risky for this one. Let's say I really want a retelling of the movie Tangled, but I'm okay with any KotLC pairing in it. I'm going to click the button "Any Relationship." Please keep in mind that this means any! You could end up gifted a relationship you hate.

You can use the any button for other things too, like if you wanted to see a specific relationship in any fairy tale.

And I'm done with my requests! I could add more if I wanted to (up to 10), but I'm going to call it good for this example.

Now it's time for my offers! For these, there won't be a description. It's a bit simpler! I only write, so I'm only going to offer fic.

First, I'm going to list a bunch of fairy tales I'd write Sophie and Fitz in. I'm not going to say any because there are some I don't think I can do well, but I'm going to put as many as I can, which is fifteen. I'm even going to include "Original Fairy Tale AU," because if someone has an idea for a Sophitz original fairy tale, I'm there!

For warnings, I'm okay with writing major character death, but I don't like to write graphic violence.

Next, I'm going to do an offer for any relationship for Ella Enchanted, since that's my favorite story ever. I'm going to accept the risk because I think I can do enough research to do a KotLC relationship well in this story. I don't want to write either warning for it, though.

Finally, I'm going to offer some family/mentor type relationships, because I think that would be fun to write. And I'm going to pick some fairy tales that I think lend themselves to that.
