Laravel provides an easy-to-use system for handling background tasks using Queues and Jobs. Queues allow you to defer the processing of a time-consuming task, such as sending emails or processing images, to be done in the background. This prevents the user from waiting for long processes to finish and allows the app to perform other tasks smoothly.
In Laravel, Jobs represent a task that needs to be executed, and Queues manage the execution of these jobs. When a job is dispatched to a queue, it is picked up by a worker, which processes the task in the background.
This tutorial will walk you through setting up and using Laravel Queues and Jobs for handling background tasks.

The Framework Forge: Choosing the Right Tool for Web Development in 2024
The web development landscape is an ever-shifting terrain. New frameworks emerge, existing ones evolve, and developers are constantly on the lookout for the best tool for the job. But with so many options available, deciding on the "best framework" can feel like navigating a labyrinth. Fear not, intrepid developer! This guide will equip you with the knowledge to conquer the framework forge and select the perfect match for your next web project.
Understanding Frameworks: Why They Matter
Web development frameworks are pre-built libraries that provide a foundation for creating web applications. They offer a structured approach, including pre-written code for common functionalities, reducing development time and effort. Frameworks also enforce best practices, promoting clean, maintainable code. Here's why frameworks matter:
Faster Development: Frameworks come equipped with pre-built components and functionalities, allowing developers to focus on the unique aspects of their projects rather than reinventing the wheel.
Improved Code Quality: Frameworks often enforce coding conventions and best practices, leading to cleaner, more maintainable code. This reduces bugs and improves long-term project health.
Enhanced Security: Many frameworks prioritize security by providing built-in features and functionalities to protect against common web vulnerabilities.
Large Community & Support: Popular frameworks often have vast developer communities providing resources, tutorials, and assistance when needed.
Picking Your Weapon: Top Frameworks for 2024
While there's no single "best framework," some stand out in different areas. Here are some of the most popular contenders in 2024, categorized by their primary focus:
Frontend Frameworks (Client-side):

Dispelling the Myth: PHP Will Not Make You Poor
In the world of programming and web development, there has been an ongoing debate about the relevance and potential earning power of various programming languages. One recurring misconception that needs to be addressed is the notion that PHP will make you poor. This article aims to debunk this myth and shed light on the real value of PHP in today's tech landscape.
The PHP Backlash
PHP, initially created in 1994 by Rasmus Lerdorf, has been a popular server-side scripting language for web development for decades. However, in recent years, it has faced criticism and skepticism, often leading to misconceptions about its potential for career growth and financial success.
Understanding the Concerns
One of the primary reasons behind the belief that PHP might lead to financial struggles is the emergence of newer languages and frameworks like Python, Ruby on Rails, and JavaScript. These languages have gained popularity for their versatility and ability to handle a wide range of tasks, from web development to data science.
Additionally, some argue that the abundance of PHP developers in the job market has created more competition and potentially driven down salaries. While it's true that there are many PHP developers, the demand for skilled developers remains high.
The Reality
Contrary to the misconception, PHP can indeed be a lucrative choice for developers. Here's why:
Market Demand: PHP powers a significant portion of the web, including popular platforms like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal. Many businesses rely on PHP-based solutions, creating a consistent demand for PHP developers.
Freelancing Opportunities: PHP developers can find ample freelancing opportunities, offering flexibility and the potential for higher earnings, especially when specializing in niche areas.
Scalability: PHP has evolved over the years, with the introduction of modern frameworks like Laravel and Symfony. These frameworks enable developers to build complex, high-performance applications, making PHP suitable for a wide range of projects.

Well... That went great
As the non existent reader of this blog might have already noticed: I haven't really been active. I would like to apologise to the 0 people who have as of now enjoyed my blog posts and have had to wait more than a year for a follow up on what I promised. I will try to answer the most pressing questions that might have come up during that time.
Why did I not write any more blog posts:
tldr: I had no time/ I forgot.
Well, when I started this blog in early 2022, I was locked up at home with way too much time at my hands. For anyone, like me looking back on it right now, is confused as to why I was locked up for so long; Corona. Which - shockingly - was still a thing back then.
I massively overestimated my motivation to keep going afterwards. Not only that, I also just forgot the blog existed for a good few months.
What happened after the Iast blog post:
tldr: I suck at learning, but I got hired
I learned little to nothing about PHP. Not because of lacking commitment, but because I suck at teaching myself what it actually means to write code.
What do I mean by that? Well, I did look into it and learned some basics about PHP and I actually read a book about Laravel, but... Let's just say next to nothing actually stuck.
Why? -There was no structure to my learning. Which is easy to say in retrospect, but I was very much aware of the lack of success while learning as well. What I should have done, is just setup a Laravel project, booted it up and gotten a rough overview of what everything does. I shouldn't have focused on understanding everything I saw. It just doesn't if you don't know anything about it yet. After that I should have to do some small project on my own and get it running. Nothing fancy, just something which incorporates as much of the basic functionality as possible (idk, maybe some kind of very basic blog - ironic Ik).
I did do a small project however I did it by following a tutorial on how to write that.
tldr: How to learn to code: learn the basics, get a general overview, do a project (on your own) and don't force yourself to "understand" stuff that is way above your pay grade.
To anyone out there trying to learn to code: following a YouTube tutorial might just be the worst thing to do, ever. Don't get me wrong, YouTube tutorials that help you understand the basics, like fireship or Theo (for TypeScript, but I find most of his content is actually relevant for most web development) are fantastic. They get you to a point where you can do it all on your own. Following those hours long "code along" videos where you basically just copy the code the YouTuber is producing, are the most useless piece of hot garbage you could watch as a beginner trying to get started. You just don't learn anything. Especially because everything they say makes sense when they say it, but because you don't know the basics, you won't be able to reproduce it and so it's just entirely useless.
How do I know that? Well, as soon as my internship started, I got tasked with learning yet another programming language and another framework: JS and React. They gave me some videos and articles and then they told me to write a basic calculator. Which I did. Apparently it was so "good" for a person who had basically no knowledge about either JS or React they hired me. I honestly learned more from all of that in the few days I was there than from the months at home trying to cramp knowledge into my brain. That's not even the real point though: A few months on, I stumbled onto Laravel again in my now job. I thought: Oh nice, I can do this, I studied this stuff for months. As soon as I opened up the Laravel project though, I realised I had no idea what any of the stuff did and how to realise the most basic of things. I had to start over again.
Phew, that was long. Way too long in my opinion, but I don't want to boil it down into a few lines, that would take too much energy and time I don't have. The most important stuff is in the tldr. I hope you, my nonexistent fans and all the other people who might've read this, still enjoyed it though and that it was worth your time, even if you didn't have the context of my blog.
My next blog posts hopefully won't be as long and rambly. I will try to post something semi regularly from now on. I do like the way this blogging thing really makes me sort all the facts out in my head and forces me to think a bit more clearly about events and trends in my life.
Anyways: Cheers, I hope you all have a great day!
