obasi’s lore is reflective of some of my own experiences, which includes child abuse/neglect and cptsd. please proceed with caution and stay safe ❤️

dubaku never wanted to be a parent, he enjoyed the illusion of parenthood, but after he lost gabi (obasi's mother), he realized how little he truly cared for family. much like how he raised obasi, he was raised to see family as something dangerous and draining, a chore more than love. so when obasi was born all he could think of was the blood he would shed for her that he did not want to shed. dubaku never wanted to be a father.

he didn’t want the life of a crime lord and he most certainly did not want a child to go along with it. he knew that in raising obasi, he would have no choice but to work until he died, so he chose to be miserable. he chose to hurt his daughter. he chose to make obasi feel all that pain and anguish in every neglectful action towards her.

obasi loathed dubaku as much and he loathed her, and in the end, she did not loathe him as much as she thought. in the end, dubaku is still her father and a part of her wants to love him, and that’s why she wears his coat when she grows older. his coat is the last semblance of some kind of love that vanished the moment she was thrust into his shadow.

deep down i think there’s still a child in obasi that wanted to see dubaku as her father and not a role to follow, she wanted to love him as family and not loathe him for the successful crime leader that he was. she wanted to carve her own path but had no choice but to follow his. and now, by the time the events of the main story happen, she’s about the same age her father was when he was murdered, and she’s filled the shoes she was destined to fill. but at what cost?

obasi’s coat is ultimately symbolic of the hatred, neglect, and pure malice that shaped her childhood. it represents how she is so deeply tethered to an instinctive love of her family but simultaneously, a boundless hate.

she wears her father’s coat like she wears her past upon her shoulders.

i feel like we don’t acknowledge the canon age gap between barty and evan enough…barty is probably about 4-5 years younger than evan (insert the extracts from the books here that icba to pull up but trust me). GUYS. just imagine renowned surgeon evan who’s well-established in the medical world (his…side quests are kept on the down-low in this world). he writes articles and carries out studies and even appears on different documentaries or news channels, speaking in his monotone voice and routinely pushing his glasses up on the bridge of his nose. he’s concerningly intelligent, and he’s perhaps one of the most respected doctors in his field. and then there’s dr. rosier’s college student ‘boytoy’, towering over him like a lean, menacing guard dog. he’s all tattoos and piercings and long limbs, dressed in ripped jeans and grunge t-shirts, which look awfully out of place next to evan’s pristine lab coat and polished spectacles. he’ll quite literally growl at anyone who looks at his precious doctor the wrong way. he’ll also happily lay down in evan’s operating theatre and let him perform open heart surgery on him (with no anaesthesia) if evan so wished it.

kind of want to scream in the fave of americans who belittle or question non-americans who are discussing the upcoming election. idk if americans recognize this or not but your elections directly impact other countries, especially those who border you. yes, canadians are going to talk about the election and have opinions because yes, it actually impacts us!

you do not exist in a vacuum, we are all a victim of your decisions. trump unleashed a wave of fascism across the world, where it already was it was strengthened and where it wasn't, it was born. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled folks, so on, across the globe do not have the luxury of only paying attention to their local election cycle.

so next time you, as an american, fix yourself to mock a non-american for vocalizing an opinion on your election cycle, understand you are not the only people who will suffer the consequences of this election.

I’ve been thinking (never a good thing) about some requests and ideas that have floated my way, and a few of them have condensed into an official story idea. I don’t know if I’ll do anything with it (I say knowing damn well I usually do something with all my ideas), but I do have one question about it…

If Sonic could doom morph, what do you think it’d be? Kraken/sea creature like Shadow? Maybe something more wolfish considering the werehog form? Maybe even a bird (wind/sky and the Black Arms worship birds in some capacity—look it up)?
