The Rwandan Genocide: 10 Facts About a Horrific Chapter in History
The Rwandan Genocide, a period of unfathomable horror that unfolded in 1994, stands as one of the darkest chapters in modern human history. In approximately 100 days, from April to July, an estimated 800,000 to 1,000,000 people, predominantly Tutsi but also moderate Hutu and Twa, were systematically murdered. This wasn’t merely a civil war, but a meticulously planned and executed extermination…

It has now been 60 years since Malcolm X visited the Gaza Strip
In September, 1964, Malcolm X made his second trip to Palestine, visiting the Gaza Strip while it was under Egyptian control. Days after his visit, during which he had met with Nakba survivors and PLO members, he penned an essay entitled "Zionist Logic", in which he spoke of the deceptive nature of Zionism as "a new form of colonialism."
"The ever-scheming European imperialists wisely placed Israel where she could geographically divide the Arab world, infiltrate and sow the seed of dissension among African leaders and also divide the Africans against the Asians," he wrote.

ughhh pretty nitpicky complaint maybe but I hate how some words in native american languages are simplified for the benefit of white people to the point where the original spelling(s) is rarely ever even mentioned. like my tribe, for example- the mi'kmaq, is about 98% of the time spelt micmac, its simplified english form and demonstrates to english speakers how it's (roughly) pronounced. which is usually fine, but like. last year there was a few small lessons we had about the wabanaki nations, and it was only ever spelt micmac. it's original spelling is never brought up ever. and it's a dying language, yknow? it's really not that difficult to say "mi'kmaq, pronounced and alternatively spelt micmac in english," but I don't even think the teacher even knew that. not even asking for it's singular form (mi'kmaw) just the actual title of what we're called in our language. like it's just one word. it's not asking them to learn a whole other language

I was so wrong to propose a tyranny where I'd be sole judge and all lives would be under my control. Ok. Now explain to me in simple words what is the difference between that and an actual Kage.

FFS man you were there too, you are supposed to be as broken as your fool of a sister relative -
"please player chan, everyone counts on you"
"only you plz"
And then the fights ends with Billy being rekt'd, Claude making a diversion and Billy finally managing to rekt the zombie.
"only you can do this"
Come on Seteth, just tell us you were too busy to lend a hand.
Interestingly, contrary to SS, Seteth doesn't out himself as a Nabatean to Billy.
Maybe it's the wisest decision to make, since Claude is busy telling everyone Nemesis and the Mole People were ruining things/are targetting the monastery to get revenge against Sothis and Rhea...

I'm not really any manner of orator, and I average out at the amount of knowledge that passes my feed. I just... you know, recognize that. the US authorities and the bulk of celebrities who played into it to keep their job did those same things to us in the 60s and 70s. it's the same playbook, it's the same colonialism, it's the same human toll.

Nancy Kricorian: Applying Lessons From the Armenian Genocide to Gaza
Pro-Palestinian protesters rally on the campus of Columbia University in New York on April 22, 2024. PHOTO BY CHARLY TRIBALLEAU/AFP VIA GETTY IMAGE ~~ My grandmother and her family were driven from their home in 1915 during what Armenians at the time called the Deportations and the Massacres. Later, this brutal and bloody six-year Ottoman campaign of dispossession, ethnic cleansing, and mass…

the postwar american order was a mistake.
yeah sure. people like to say world war ii was our last “good war.” maybe it’s true. sure. whatever helps people sleep at night. except we only got involved because we were attacked. no altruism at all. just a destructive conflict that made us the big superpower
and where tf did it get us in the end??? our country funding dictatorships. proxy conflicts. regime change. military bases all over the fucking world. forever wars to keep the money machine going. this stupid fucking complex of “we have to save everyone in the name of freedom and democracy” that has infiltrated every facet of our lives. even things we consider progressive. the comic industry is “conservative” in its attempts to fall back on the “anti-fascism” propaganda shtick of the 1940s, even then that’s just pro-interventionist shit. bc everything goes back to the military industrial complex.
people hate us. they don’t call us the “great satan” for nothing. we get involved in other countries’ business like we own the place, force our ways of life on them and we don’t even care about all the lives we’re ruining. see what happened to iraq? afghanistan? for that matter, everywhere else?
and if u criticize it here in the us. you’re called a “commie” or a “bleeding heart peacenik” by literally everyone center of right. maybe some dumbshit neoliberal will call you a “racist america firster.” all of that just for having the common fucking decency to say…maybe it’s not our job to act as world police? what are we even “defending” ourselves from? what imaginary enemy is there? the ones that we made???

not to mention that. Uh. Jews were literally CONSTANTLY MURDERED.
recent mentions?
Hi, do you remember the jewish community in Gaza? the area of Nosirat used to be Jewish. There was an acient Synaguge there since 5th century CE.
There is no longer Jewish community in Gaza city.
There hasn't been one since 1929, as a literal mob raided the town attempting to murder jews.
[They survived. One respected Hamula sheltered the community for a short time, until british policemen came and evacuated everyone to the train and immediatlly to Lod.]
"But Psy," I can hear ppl say, "that was overreacting. Obviosly, their friends and neighbours couldn't REALLY try to kill everyone!"
feel free to look up what happened in Hebron. The massacre and the frankly horrific stories and photos.
1929 was the end of the jewish yishuv in Gaza. The end of the jewish Yishuv in Hebron (until 1967).
Uh, and if you still consider it an anacdote:
1929 was 19 years before 1948. Which means, during the Israeli war of independence? people were literally fighting for their life, and for their families. Those were the children and babies of 1929, who grew up in the aftermath. Who knew EXACTLY what a neighbour might do to you.
[Mordechai Maklef, the 3rd high-commander of the IDF, was 9 years old when he watched his family slaughtered. He jumped out of the window, and survived.]
btw if you accuse Jews who don't want the total destruction of Israel of "wanting an ethnostate" while also advocating for the mass exodus of Israelis to Europe to create a united Palestinian nation...you support an ethnostate.

help a palestinian teacher and her family of 6!
[PT: Help a Palestinian teacher and her family of 6. End PT.]
Ola's campaign is number 205 on el-shab-hussein and nabulsi'svetted fundraiser spreadsheet.
$53,726 raised of $85,000 goal as of October 4th
[PT: $53,726 raised of $85,000 goal as of October 4th End PT.]
No amount of words can describe how awful it is that a full year of genocide is coming up. Palestinians deserve to be safe in their homes not having to worry about their and their loved ones’ lives or trying to figure out how they can get people to care for their survival. Every single Palestinian I have talked with this past year has been so endlessly kind in spite of everything. Please return this kindness and stand up for Palestinians. Help them.
I’m writing this post for my dear friend, Ola. She’s a seventh grade math teacher who’s so incredibly passionate about her work and uses creative methods to better teach her students. When I first read about her using extracurriculars as a means of teaching, I was left with a large smile on my face. Seeing her connect her lessons to the students rather than making the students connect to the lessons is such a beautiful thing you could do as a teacher since it shows your active consideration towards your students.
Ola had just begun her first year of teaching when this Nakba began. She’s been on Tumblr for months, trying her best to spread her campaign which supports a total of 7 people including herself. Alongside that, she’s been using her blog to share the campaigns of her extended family. Her campaign is beginning to slow. We can not afford this. Please help Ola in any way you can, whether it be from a donation, reblog, or sharing her campaign’s link. I heavily encourage you to follow her at olaa123 and spotlight her campaign if you are able to!!

Anyway, if you don't vote for Biden to Teach Him A Lesson and Trump wins, I'm sure all the thousands more Palestinians killed in Gaza when Trump gives Netanyahu full steam ahead and pulls all diplomatic support for a ceasefire/peace process, the Ukrainians and/or other Eastern Europeans likewise genocided when Trump gives Putin everything he wants and pulls out of NATO, the immigrants deported and put in concentration camps, the protesters detained en masse under the Insurrection Act, the women who die from being refused divorces and reproductive care, the LGBTQ+ people legislated and harassed out of public life, the people of color murdered by fully sanctioned white supremacy, and the societies around the world affected by America's collapse into a theocratic fascist dictatorship will definitely fall at your feet in thanks and give you the Gold Medal For Twitter Social Justice. So yknow, that's very important.
