A Day Off

I don't really know how to articulate those thoughts so bear with me please - but there is something in Ros's choice to call on Bad, specifically, to kill herself that I can't get out of my mind.

Part of it is how she knew that out of all her friends he would be the least likely to deny her. Everyone else would try to get her to change her mind, but she knew that Bad would take the bait - hook, line and sinker as well. He might be conflicted about it sometimes, but if you put the barrel on your head and tell him to shoot, there is no way in heaven or hell he wouldn't do it. Something something, she turned her friend into her weapon.

Which is something that she did before with Sneeg.. He has been her right-hand man in that it's the hand she carries her spear with. (Not only, I know, but also! If she needs someone killed he would just ask when and where) And he's been the one to get her off the edge before, to bring her back home, to make her feel safe and loved again. And he's been the one she definitely did not want to go to with those thoughts and feelings and desires to end it all. Because this is the one weapon that wouldn't turn onto her no matter what. Somehow his refusal to see what's wrong and bad and sometimes cruel in her is what made him lose her. That unintentional cruelty led her away from him and under his enemy's blade. And he'd rather melt the gun she used to kill herself, burn the earth where her blood spilled, than blame her for giving up.

I don't know where I'm going with that but there's something in how Ros turned away from the big scary dog that is at her beck and call, to run to the one who would bite her if riled up enough that will always break my heart a little bit

it's been hours and i still can't stop thinking about how smoke was always protecting stack and how he apologized for not being able to save him from being turned and still couldn't kill him in the end but like. was that him protecting stack by letting him live, or dooming him by keeping him from the chance of moving on? it goes both ways. and it haunts me.

(suspected) avpd culture is making a lot of mistakes (sometimes the same ones over and over) with the person who's been your best friend for two years (not very long but my life has not been very long in general) and every time it happens and they get upset because of it you spiral worse than last time because it feels like This Time it will be the end . their patience will run out, because it can't last forever. that's literally impossible, especially with you on the other end making the mistakes slowly ruining their life with maybe even your very Existence

but your spiraling with every little mistake makes their problem worse as well but at this point you're too far gone to just suddenly get Better from the panic you think it may even be a Part of how you are and function unfortunately

so you think you might just be Doomed to perhaps not have friends or ruin your existing friendships or something even though they still keep helping you and forgiving you over and over

you guys ever think about how shadow was manipulated and used by people his whole life. not just that, but almost exclusively used by people who are technically his family. constantly having his emotions preyed upon and being tricked into doing terrible things. being told his whole life who he is and what his purpose is by other people. being dehumanized and treated as just a weapon rather than an actual person, to the point where that's how he viewed himself. identity and autonomy are soooo fucking integral to shadow's character and it makes me crazy

It's now being alleged Spider Man/Peter Parker will have a huger role in Avengers Doomsday then his role in the other Avengers films and I swear to god if its to focus more on him then Reed Richards when it comes to the Doctor Doom plot... Like, a Fantastic Four villain...whose literal character is that he hates one member of Fantastic Four in particular, aka Reed Richards...turned into just a Irondad angst plot...just...fuck off, holy shit.

I have to be honest. As much as I love making fun of Bruce and Tim, I think that they’re more talented than fanon makes them out to be.

Like, the point of Batman as a character is that he’s unrealistic. It would be a very boring story if they made it realistic. Yeah, realistically, he’s not prepared for everything, but this isn’t realistic! This is a silly comic series about a man who has sent a box of live bats to another human being more than once!

I want that unrealism! I want Bruce to be able to get out impossible situations because he saw them coming! I want his convoluted, dumbass plans to work flawlessly! I want his plan to “fail” only for him to wink at the camera, revealing that failing was also in the plan!!

Batman is such a comforting character! I’m always “How’s he gonna get outta this one” instead of “Can he get outta this one” and it’s very nice!

He’s lame, he’s cringe, he’s the worst, he’s the dumbest man alive, but Bruce Wayne is never surprised and that brings me a great amount of comfort and joy.

Tim is the same way. I don’t want to think about a realistic fifteen-year-old being Robin, I want to think about the unrealistic ability Tim has to be completely unnoticed even by those with super-hearing. I want Tim to inexplicably think of every possibility and have a million contingencies, and while Tim does get surprised, he’s the most adaptable person on the planet, he can remake his plan in milliseconds!

I don’t want to think about Tim or Bruce failing or whatever. I want Tim and Bruce to inexplicably be all-knowing. Batman has managed to beat up Superman more than once, Robin xan inexplicably punch like a bullet through fucking water, and they both are billionaires with souls, do you really think I’m reading these comics for realism?

💚 I don't want to seem cocky or arrogant by saying "it's just who I am", but, like, it's just kind of my natural state, haha. I love making my friends smile and feel loved exactly as they are, as well as people I may not know as well or at all, if I'm feeling brave enough for that. (The writing makes me laugh a little bit, because I don't usually intend for the way I write people to be deeply sweet, I kind of just write based on what feels natural to me (case in point being II in my asexuality fic), and it ends up that most of the comments are about how sweet they are. It's not something I do on purpose, but it ends up like that anyways)
