I’ve got myself a kobo because my ancient sony eReader doesn’t seem to be compatible with my library’s DRM (I think the problem is that there isn’t any software anymore that supports it so if I manage to get an epub onto it, it refuses to open it).
I am now massively excited and feel like a candy shop with all the options for what I could read. I’m also inspired to tidy up my goodreads account to try to keep track of things and see if there’s anything on my To Read list there that I actually want to read in the short term.
This means that I am easily spending more time thinking about what books I’m going to read than I am actually reading. I hope to reverse this soon!

All these are good facts, but you know what is the best about putting library books on hold? WHEN YOU GET THE NOTIFICATION THAT IT CAME IN!!!!
It's like your birthday and sometimes you get more presents than you thought you asked for. Seriously, if you are looking for that whimsical feeling you got when you were a tot and you got a big present during the holidays or on your birthday or something, use the hold system at the library. There's nothing better and the more you do it, the better. Seriously, I went through a period where all my holds came in and I had nothing to look forward to and I started just putting stuff on hold because I missed it. Use the holds!!!
Putting books on hold at the library has the same thrill of ordering books online, but with the added benefit of not losing any money over titles I might not enjoy.
10/10 would recommend.

Surviving and Thriving in Collapse: A Good Library and Reskilling
Tumblr media
March 25 2025, Dana O'Driscoll, AODA
Excerpt:
In my first post in this series, I talked about the global collapse that is happening and what to do about it–and as hard as it is, the reasons to keep up the hope and the vision for a better future and paradigm.  As I shared in my first post, what we need to do now, as things are collapsing, is to lean into and create the world we want to create.  But how to do we actually get there? One step at a time, my friends.  In my first post, I outlined the situation as I see it and then shared some resources to help orient our minds and mentally prepare and cultivate mental resilience.   This post assumes that you’ve read the first post, and also, that you are feeling like you are in a place to take a few more steps.  And so today’s topic is: building a good library!
Read the full post on The Druid's Garden.
Dana O'Driscoll is the Grand Archdruid of the Ancient Order of Druids in America and the co-found of the Pennsylvania School for Herbalism. She is also a Certified Permaculture Designer and Teacher, and the creator of the Tree Lore and Plant Spirit oracle decks. She has published two books on connecting modern pagan practices with permaculture, sustainable living, and responsible land stewardship. Sacred Actions and Land Healing are both available from Schiffer Books.

The Library
I'm doing my best to challenge myself to make more complex backgrounds/expanded compositions this year, and here's one example of that! An illustration which I finished some time ago for the wonderfully kind and patient Sybir. Thank you again for letting me work on this. <3

How to entertain a cat and an iguana, and an imp in a cage. (Denis Beauvais cover for Dragon 104, December 1985). I love when wizards have anachronistic items in their workshops (look on the shelf just to the right of the crystal ball).
