What I believe chapter three tells us about Kris

Naturally there will be spoilers for chapter three and some for chapter four, so read at your own risk!

As we know, each dark world represents the will of its creator, which is why Susie's foutain was slightly different to the first fountain in the church, and because Kris created the third Dark world when the soul was *outside* their body, then we can assume that this dark world represents Kris's thoughts and wants, at least to some extent

I believe this can be best seen in Tenna, someone loud, somewhat attention-seeking and desperate. Of course, this doesn't really sound like the Kris we know, but the "Kris" we know isn't really Kris, it's us, but since the Dark Foutain was created while we were not controlling Kris, it represents Kris's will minus any of our influence. Back to Tenna, we see him wanting to make people happy, to bring/keep people together, to keep the good old times lasting forever.

The Family

Multiple times he brings up the divorce of Toriel and Asgore, and how the family used to be, including having the Holiday family round a lot. Tenna explains how much that deteriorates after Dess goes missing, Asgore and Toriel breaking up, and Asriel leaving for college. During his break down in board three, he says one line that really stuck out to me, as it didn't sound like he was talking to anyone

Despite not technically being part of the family, Tenna does seem to be a legitamate casualty of divorce, I imagine that as Asgore and Toriel argued more and more, Kris would distract themself with whatevers on TV, turning the volume up as their parents started to yell.

Since Asgore and Toriel are still on poor terms with each other, It's likely that Kris wants the family to be how it was before, with Asriel home and his parents happy together, and this can be scene in Tenna's persistence of them being one big happy family

(there are several other lines of his dialogue that show this)

Keeping up appearances

Tenna is always talking about how great classic TV is, that he's still relevant! Still wanted! still needed! But people have moved on - as Tenna says, "nothing stays big forever" - I imagine it's quite hard to feel wanted or relevant when your newest (and only) friends see that soul possessing you more than they see the real you

Kris was "the weird kid" before the events of deltarune, which can be inferred from a lot of dialogue in hometown, like Bratty's conversation about Asriel. Kris likely felt very alone, especially since they are the only human in their town. But now, with that thing possessing them, they have friends, they get to go on fun adventures, they're hanging out with Noelle again.

But without that soul? who knows what would happen to them and their friends. Would they fade away into the darkness, becoming just as irrelavant as they were before? Would they become useless, without any adventures to be had anymore? Would Susie not want to be their friend anymore once they aren't the same person from the adventures? (remember how much Tenna wanted to impress Susie because she was one of the first people to pay him real attention in so long?)

Minor Events

Didn't know where else to put this but Kris's darkworld events almost directly mirror lightword stuff they had previously experienced

Blue guy awkwardly involved with a broken-up couple

TV world directly affected by some of Kris's last memories before creating the dark fountain and going to sleep

There's likely a lot more but i don't want this post getting too long, so thank you reading this far!! If anyone has any other ideas they'd like to add then feel free!

So given mirror copies are all rather delicate and are more likely to just shatter/respawn than suffer any lasting injury, how common are medics or healing items to begin with for them? Is first aid beyond an ice pack or a bandaid even much of a thing? loving all the fun theorizing btw!

There are medics in the Mirror World, though the Mirror GSA doesn't rely on them as often as its lightword counterparts would. They're used more as someone to oversee recovery and provide a space to rest during it, or to treat simple injuries. Healing items can always be used to speed up the process, but the way injuries work for reflections is that they tend to "reset" to their default state with time, rather than heal and scar like a normal wound. (Technically, a broken bone would reset itself, though having a medic properly set it first would lessen how long it takes.) Those on their last life usually pick up the habit of keeping healing items on-hand as well, to save themselves in a pinch.

Healing can get a little finicky when you're right on the shattering threshold, though. Sometimes, the damage is bad enough that it won't heal in time to prevent a shattering (ex: being badly poisoned, too much blood loss, scenarios where the damage is worsening at a rate faster than can be reset). Other times, if you're skilled enough in the principles of magic, you can hold yourself together just long enough to be in the clear. Reflections were created though magical means, if they can grasp the essence of that, it may be enough to cling to their form and survive a hit that should've taken them down (though they would be incredibly vulnerable for the following period of time, the game equivalent of being on their last sliver of health).

Or, they could just be incredibly stubborn, too.

Ok, so last night, i had the weirdest (haha, get it?) dream about Deltarune.

I dreamed of Kris about Noelle going through more challengues in the lightword during a weird route (although i don't really remember exactly what. Just picture more manipulation lol. Something like people realizing Kris is doing something messed up), with Susie ditching Kris once she realizes what they've done. She goes on to ask for help from the adults, getting Rudy to fight Kris. For some reason, he's a very powerful enemy, going rapidly in cicles like sonic around Noelle so Kris can't get close to her, always moving and following Kris whereever they go. He's seemingly unable to beat. Susie also joins in the battle reluctantly.

So, Kris is defeated, Susie starting to bully them like she used to, Noelle seems horrified by this but doesn't do anything. Kris also seems to show deep shame for their actions, taking every mean word the others say to them, looking fondly at Rudy at some point, as if the reason they did the weird route was to save him?.

Rudy, Noelle, Susie and Kris gather around a table. Kris is quiet while everyone has fun, sometimes they say a mean comment towards them, but they don't respond. Rudy mentions some sort of game, book or story that was like what Kris did, and Noelle asks if "Rudy" also gets healed there (for some reason, i took that scene and thought, still inside the dream, that although it seems like a weird route exclusive dialogue, she mentions that no matter what you do).

It all seems to stop when suddently Carol comes up and calls Kris "Dess", making everyone quiet (they were wearing the hornband at this point). Then, slowly, Kris' form changes into that of a monster (for some reason they're some sort of bird, like Stolas from Helluva Boss). And everyone laughs away the possibility of Kris being Dess.

And that was my Dream about Deltarune's weird route ending. KRIS is DESS CONFIRMED?!?!!

Oh my god yes. But also what if Ink just tought nothing interested happened there because they only know of the Lightword part of Deltarune, which is basically an Undertale suburbs Au. While the real story happened in Dark words and Ink just never knew about it because he only focused on the Lightword part of it,unaware that there was more of it lol.

Do you guys ever think about how,very tecnically speaking, Deltarune is an Undertale au?

Imagine Ink just walking around,finding an Au he never saw before,deciding to take a look around and being greeted by a 15 yo,covered in blood,ripping their own soul out

but should it escape his grasp

A dreamer left rejected.

Whispers

Phantom murmurs

tell forbidden things

Things that cause the light

to burn.

Each more persistent than the last.

However, a dreamer is allowed to think.

Take dreams from a dreamer

So a dreamer allows himself his purpose.

The air between them

so sweet and silky

his every move is fluid

run your hands

A dreamer hides the sounds he makes

when his thoughts are filled to brim

and it’s taking over his work

Indigo paint spills onto his canvas

writings about the night sky and the ocean

It’s calming, strangely

this cool hue.

However,

he did find that

Red

seemed to clash with

Blue.

They are both overpowering

they seep into the paper

marking territory

no boundaries, fighting! yelling!

When they meet

they mix into an ugly shade of grey and purple.

He’ll throw his words

A dreamer

A realist

could never be.

His heads in the clouds

Three words

that moves mountains

and makes stars

and eases the rumbling tension

when he smiles

“I know,”

He presses his lips to his cheek

where saltwater fell.

Maybe 

A dreamer

and 

A realist

Could find common ground,

and never leave each other’s side,

listening  to their heartbeats,

and sharing their light.

Maybe

red and blue

can coexist

with the right shades

allowing the other it’s time 

in the spotlight.

Maybe 

A dreamer

is longer confined to 

secrecy

and free to run his hands 

through his hair

His hands

Through him.

Maybe 

Whispers 

are no longer

phantom murmurs

but are real and purposeful

leaving red cheeks

Not just to think

and passively watch his ideas

but to take them on

and go after what he wants or 

rather who he wants

and his realist will smile back at him

Encouraging
