being a huge fan of tlou but also like. thinking that certain stories are built for certain mediums. like the entire theme of tlou2 is grounded and fresh because it’s a railroad/story video game that still affords you mechanical choices in how you navigate the world. i just don’t have a lot of confidence that presenting that story in a tv show with the minimal adjustments that they did in s1 will be fulfilling or compelling in any comparable way. because with tlou1 some of the like. beauty of that story was simply that it was such an emotive story contained in the medium of video games. and some of that was retained just by hitting similar or expanded emotional beats in the show, like the episodes that expanded on the life of the characters and the realities of that world. but truly so much of tlou2 emotional depth and ‘why does this story matter’ rests in the fact that’s it’s your hands on the controller, continually choosing to go forward in the story and have hope that it will work out in your-as-ellie-or-abby-or-somehow-booth’s favour. and you simply cannot get that in a non-interactive medium like television. like i do think tlou2 is a good story but it’s a good story because of the investment required by the player to keep pressing buttons and keep returning and to feel the adrenaline like responses of high intensity moments and be jarringly shifted into backstories that only increase the frustration. in general i’ve been thinking a lot about cross-medium adaptation and on the one hand i am glad that season 1 makes the story of the last of us more accessible to people who wouldn’t pick up a video game but it’s also like. maybe instead we can destigmatize video games as this inaccessible and dangerous medium a bit more instead of just . implicitly agreeing . like no maybe your mom won’t pick up a video game controller and play the last of us . but maybe you can play the game in the living room. sometimes the mediums that stories are told in aren’t just important but are actually foundational parts of how the information of a story is conveyed and that’s not only okay but is fucking fantastic. we should be happy actually that there are so many ways to collect a bunch of themes and ideas and put them together and hold them out to someone else and say “won’t you consider this with me. won’t you feel these emotions and care about these characters with me.”
#i’ve been thinking about this both for academic and personal reasons#where like. my thesis literally includes discussion of tlou2 and it’s profundity because of the players position as in control but without#real decision making power in the story#and it’s like. you’re the person animating these two ptsd ridden women who subject themselves to be puppets to their#own grief . and there’s something particularly resonant about the fact that you can’t change the Story. you can only play it.#and like . i’ve talked with my mom a lot about the last of us#since i played it the first time and it really just rocked my shit. and i remember walking out my bedroom after i’d finished tlou2#feeling that odd mixture of empty and completely fulfilled by a good story with tears in my eyes#and a few years later when i visited home and had happened to bring my ps4 along with me and i was having a rough time#my mom asked if i’d want to show her tlou. because she knew i loved it and because i’ve told her it has tropes she’d enjoy#but the only games she’ll ever play are point and click because she’s stubborn and some physicality stuff#but like i remember sitting on the couch just. playing this game and it wasn’t the exact same as her playing it herself . but sometimes her#commentary was like it was.#i just. idk man. tlou lover wants to be hyped but seeing the exact same visuals from the game just in tv show format is like#. what’s the point. why are you distilling the themes by removing the active (non)agency of the player and#replacing it with the passive role of ‘watcher’ in a story so emphatically about having an active role in the action#anyway#tagging this#tlou#for blog organization but this isn’t discourse or whatever just me thinkin my thoughts on my blog

Hear me out…hear me out.. G!P donna x reader where Donna catches the (fem) touching themselves while holding a picture of her?
(Idk I’m touch deprived.)
Oh hell yeah! I’m pairing this one with another ask for Donna I’ve got🙌

Some more Donna appreciation on this blog? It’s more likely than you think! Let’s get into it!
Masterlists
She stalks the dark hallway, down, down, a little more. She knows exactly what you’re up to. She felt, heard, saw and knew all at once when you began your naughty game.
What especially caught her off guard though, was the raw want for her displayed by her picture clutched in your shaking hand.
Too warped in the pleasure you experience, you didn’t and still don’t notice the heads of several dolls turned your way. You don’t yet know she is watching.
She watches, like a predator might watch its prey. Though, her eyes are loving, if a little stern and dark. Possessiveness and arousal seems to flood her whole being, so much so she feels the pheromones coming off the plants in the house.
Perhaps, she is close to warping your mind a little in this state. She is dangerously close to doing so, certainly.
Donna watches quietly as she hears your thoughts, the naughtiness, the desperation, the arousal, the pleasure.
And even as she steps closer, past the hall, in the doorway, she is still one with the shadows. She stands quiet, entirely still, save for her twitching fingers and flexing thighs.
Her dark eye glances over your form on the bed.
Beautiful, bare naked, your smooth skin stretched out on the warm brown sheets. Your hair strands, sprawled out around you, creating a pattern she wishes to trace.
She sees your spread legs, shaking slightly, more the harder your fingers push into your sopping wet pussy. She smells your aroma in the air.
Subtly, she inhales and groans quietly to herself.
You’re a naughty girl today, it seems, believing you could take what is rightfully hers.
Your moans, breathy, loud, fill the room quickly. Donna grows more tense the more she hears, and feels herself become harder the more sounds escape your lips.
She feels it between her legs already, the large cock that causes the rather obvious tent in her dark dress. She feels the wetness against her boxers, the precum leaking from her already.
Then, a single sound leaves your lips that has her snap.
“A-Ahh, Mommy”~
You moan, a curl of your fingers in the right spot enough to lure this particular petname from you.
She moves fast, less moves, even. She rather appears on top of you, her fingers closing around your wrists tight, nearly like shackles.
Her gaze is hungry, her eye even darker than normal.
“What did you say?”, she rasps out, her voice rough and unpracticed. You shiver and gasp in surprise. It’s rare for her to actually talk, rather than use other means of communication.
Her voice immediately sends a jolt of pleasure from your chest to your very core. If your wrists were not restrained, maybe you’d raise them to her shoulders or hips.
Her gaze only hardens for a moment. Your eyes widen, as though reminded of the question asked. She’s close, her beautiful lips parted. Moments pass, you feel as though lost in her eye. She pulls you in, quite literally, but also your mind feels pulled in. You feel as though the pheromones of her plants dig right into your skull, yet, you are not in pain. You feel soothed, warmer, more flustered. You feel slightly less in control of yourself, and light, as though you are a puppet to the dollmaker. And really, would that be so bad?
You nearly forgot your fingers have been pulled from you; yet, the warmth inside of you barely has you notice the emptiness yet. That is, until you grow more aware of the tent in her dress, the hardness pressing up between your warm, upper thigh.
She clears her throat, the sound oddly loud in the quiet room. You feel as though torn from a clouded, quiet world.
At last, you speak.
“Mo-Mommy”, you repeat, your voice a mere whisper. Your pussy clenches at the mere words and her presence. Of course, she is always with you. You merely don’t always know.
A smile spreads on her lips, happy, pleased, hungry.
Your wrists are released, yet you are dominated enough by her mere presence to stay still unless instructed otherwise.
“My lady…”, you whisper breathlessly.
You watch, mouth watering, as smooth, black fabric comes off her body. First her dress, then her bra. Full breasts and light, dusty pink nipples that are already hard greet you. Her smooth skin glistens in the dim light of the room. Her hair is let down next, and you feel your body reacting yet again as a wave of her scent hits you. Your holes tighten automatically, a fresh layer of wetness dripping out of you. Your nipples harden instantly, your back arches slightly as you feel shivers run up and down your spine.
She’s beautiful, a goddess in your eyes.
Little do you know, you are the very same to her.
She cups your cheek softly and you no longer jump when you hear her familiar voice invading hour mind.
“Take them off”
No more instructions are needed, so that your hands immediately shoot forwards, your fingertips gently hooking into the waistband of her bulged boxers.
You pull them down slowly, each inch revealing more of her creamy skin.
Your thighs clench together at the sight of her thick crimson tip. The head is big, leaking, and sensitive. You moan lowly under your breath at the mere sight.
When her boxers are pulled down entirely, her large cock slips completely free. Slightly curved, large in size, and dripping, it slaps against your thigh. You moan, her eye still set on you even when your hand wanders to her cock.
Your eyes widen in surprise when she moves quickly again. One moment she is straddling your hips, in the other your face serves as a seat for the length of her cock. You feel it pressed up against your cheek and forehead, warm, wet, leaking precum onto your skin.
“Open up for Mommy, my most beautiful doll”, comes her voice in your head again.
You don’t even think of denying her.
As your fingers clasp the picture of her tighter, your lips part and your mouth stretches open.
And Donna wastes no time at all. She slides herself deep down your throat, her curved dick making you gag within moments. Her hips thrust slowly, but deep and precise. You feel your wrists be released in favor of her wandering hands finding and caressing other parts of your body. You feel strong, but delicate fingertips push into your hips, feel the featherlight touch of them against your bulged throat.
Tears come to your eyes from the constant gagging on her cock. You can, by now, fit her inside your mouth rather comfortably, though you doubt you will ever be able to do so without gagging and clenching around her. You can barely breathe with your spit in the way, instead feel her cock throb in your mouth from the messy and sloppy blowjob she is given.
And Donna? She thrives off it.
Her hips shake a little, her thighs and muscles are tense. She’s close, you know, but you also know your lover can hold herself right at the edge for long.
Precum leaks down your throat, feeding you her sweet cum bit by bit.
Almost offended, she slaps your hand away when you attempt to touch yourself.
“Little doll, you know I can do better”
The use of her voice catches you off guard. For a moment, you gasp, then choke, then gag, then drool some more. A low, deep chuckle is heard from her. She eases up a little, merely enough for you to breathe despite the spit smeared against your lips and her cock.
You groan and moan when her fingers push into you instead, having slid down from your throat. Of course, the dollmaker is exceptionally skilled with them. Of course, the knows this.
Curling and turning, thrusting and grinding, she brings you closer and closer to the edge. Her eyes flicker between your eyes, your throat, your body, and the picture of her held tightly between your fingertips.
You nearly whine when she plucks it from you, but even if you tried, the cock in your mouth would barely allow sound to pass. As such, she rests it on the nightstand and clasps your hand in hers, intertwining your fingers.
Your legs tremble soon, the light, overwhelming feeling rising in your stomach. You feel it, your orgasm, approaching faster and faster.
Her knuckles slide into you, until her fingers are buried deep in you and she’s palming your pussy with each stroke into you.
Her thumb rises to rub against your clit. Small circles at first, featherlight, then harder. Your body jerks on the bed as you’re stimulated.
“Would you like to cum, beautiful doll of mine?”
You shiver at her words. And while words can’t escape your lips, you plead with your eyes as best as they allow you to. You whimper, whine, moan, widen your eyes and try to nod. Your pussy clenches around her fingers, your clit grows even warmer, your nipples harden painfully.
A smirk.
“Cum”
A command, not an offer. A command from her, but also from your very body, it seems. Whether her touch or the pheromones surrounding the two of you, you feel pushed over the edge the second the words leave her dark-painted lips.
Your back arches and you groan around her cock as you cum, your vision blurry for a mere moment as you choke again and tears run down your cheeks.
Yet, you taste the delicious liquid that is her as it is shot down your throat in ropes of cum. She’s moaning lowly, her cheeks flushed slightly, her balls throbbing, her tip overly sensitive in your mouth.
When she pulls out, to your surprise, you see a string of cum and spit connect you to the tip.
Alas, she is far from done with you yet.
Giving neither of you time to truly recover from this ecstasy, you feel her fingers slide out of you and join her other hand in grabbing your hips.
“Ti stai divertendo, non è vero?”, she hums, a playful smile on her lips. “Let me join in on your little game then, my darling doll”
A scream, a breathless “Mommy…!” slips past your lips when first her huge tip, then the rest of her slides into you.
You’re settled against her, her balls pressed flush against your ass cheeks for a moment. Then, the woman begins to thrust, though. Or rather; rut. She feels feral from the name alone, this much is clear by now. You feel her loving touch, her hands kneading and savouring the touch of your skin. A sharp contrast to her hard and deep thrusts, her cock working your pussy sore and stretching it out.
Your head is thrown back, a string of moans and gasps leaving you.
“Mommy!”
“Yes! Yes yes!”
“Please, my lady! Yes! YE-YES!”
You feel sensitive, warm, and utterly loved. Kisses are trailed over your chest and neck, hands explore your body lovingly. Her curved cock hits all the sensitive spots deep inside your body, none any other could ever each.
As your eyes struggle to stay open, you feel the light feeling rise and bubble up in you again. You’re lightheaded, almost, high on the pleasure.
Your lover seems to have a similar feeling. Donna’s grip tightens on you, her thrusts become faster, more desperate.
You beg, “please, mommy, please, my lady, let me cum again..!”
And your darling lover, how could she ever refuse you?
She cums with you, her low groans and moans of pleasure a contrast to your loud, breathless moans and screams. You feel her cum in you, warm, thick, enough for you to feel it wholly in you.
When she attempts to move out, your legs swiftly hook around her and whines fall from your lips. How could she, if she is keeping you so very warm and comfortable?
A soft smile crosses her lips, and you join in on it when she merely pushes herself back inside wholly and leans down on the bed with you. She’s rested on top of you, her hair tickling your neck slightly.
Your hand finds her brown hair, her hands cup your cheek. As you share a kiss, you smile. You know, she will take care of you.

hey who wants the simultaneously worst kirby theory & worst metroid theory ever made
so, you know how samus & the metroids are in dream land 3 implying the two franchises take place in the same universe or whatever
given how often other dimensions pop up in kirby and even in metroid to a more limited extent (dark aether), it's probably actually more likely that samus just ended up there through a portal or something and went home afterwards, which is why she never reappears and metroid is never significantly referenced again besides the screw attack being in the great cave offensive, which is also why the kirby & metroid planets are not even remotely alike they're just other dimensions
but it gets more complicated than that, in one of void termina's japanese pause screens it says "There were as many Voids as there are skies." implying there's a void for every dimension, so what would the Void of the metroid dimension be
(i didn't mean to suddenly start capitalizing things from here on out idk what happened there lol)
it's also mentioned in that same pause screen that Void is made of four matters: Heart, Dream, Soul and Dark, I don't think that's the right order but that's irrelevant, Dark Matter obviously being what makes up Dark Matter (Characters), and Void's form changes depending on what energy is gathered, and it's described that the Void in Star Allies was primarily made from "negative energy" and "dark energy" so Dark Matter
I've done a lot of theorizing on what these Four Matters are and I plan on eventually doing a whole Google Doc on my (and a friend)'s take on like all of Kirby lore, but for the stuff relevant here, each matter has an intrinsic power/ability/whatever, and Dark's is Control, such as possession & brainwashing, or the much catchier options of Puppet Magic from Triple Deluxe since Taranza's the Puppet Magician, or the Power of Domination from the Master Crown's Japanese pause screen from RTDLDX, I could go into the other 3 matters as like a narrowing it down thing but I believe Metroid's Void is another Dark Void so I'll spare you that for now
Dark Matter all seems to desire control & domination over something or other, sometimes even on a planetary scale, where have we seen a giant, overwhelming force trying to spread & corrupt & all that in the Metroid universe?
Metroid's Void is Phaaze.

thanks for coming to my ted talk

My roman empire is all the clues in 02x07 (and a little of 02x06) that Lestat was mostly mind-controlled during the trial so here we go
We start with the introduction of Lestat in 02x06:

He's smoking... In front of a mirror. Film language and all that jazz.
At the beginning of episode 7, you can see his hands look like they're bruised. Why would that be?

When describing first seeing Lestat, Louis says: "It (Lestat being there) had all the hallmarks of a hallucination."

When saying about Nicki "Fragile mind prone to corruption", you can see Lestat minutely shake his head as if he's disagreeing with what he's saying. It could be grief but then seconds later he kind of blames Armand for his death because he looks at him in the audience.

Next there is a moment that is supported by a rumour so take it with a grain of salt, but the first time Madeleine "wakes up" she starts mumbling French (there is another moment later on). The rumour (from an extra on set, allegedly) stated that Lestat was trying to speak through her, because he couldn't talk telepathically with Louis or Claudia. Of course she was the easiest to control by the coven so it didn't work.

Next we have Lestat holding this pose for several seconds (can't gif, you need to trust me his leg just stays like that, like a puppet).

At one point Lestat is literally napping in the chair while Santiago is making excuses for The Drop. Then he goes off script.

While Lestat is apologising to Louis about The Drop, we have Santiago panicking and looking at Celeste (Madame Justice), who's representing the coven controlling Louis and Claudia... Because she's supposed to keep him under control too! But she's like, idk, love conquers all or something.

So this is kind of important because Armand also admits here Lestat is going off script, you can't script a hurricane etc. Louis is also wondering why Lestat is such a weirdo, going to Paris to sentence him to death, but then apologising and Armand goes, omg you can never know with this guy, he makes you wonder what's real... Sure Jan.
A bit later we have Louis asking Lestat if that's what he wanted/ this is working for him and Lestat is uncharacteristically quiet, almost as if someone is keeping him that way... We could speculate he looks angry about it, even.
Also Madeleine stands up and tries to reach Claudia - but she was controlled by the coven, right? So maybe whoever was controlling her at that moment is busy subduing someone else.

And this is not related to Lestat, but to Armand. He's talking about how the audience is hypnotized by the performance of Lestat & Santiago but when he says, "Piranhas looking up through the tank water, waiting for the chum to be dumped.", we get a shot of Armand looking up at the stage.

I'm sure there's lots of stuff I've missed, because tbh I'm not that observant and a lot of these had to be pointed out to me, but overall does it make sense that Lestat would also ask to be sentenced the same as Louis and Claudia? During the whole trial, he is very inconsistent in his acting - at times sounding robotic, at time gesturing with lots of artifice, as shown above, at times napping. We know Sam's not a bad actor, so it's logical to conclude those were choices.
If you have more examples, please add them so I can deepen my obsession with this topic even further.

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like if doffy got a hint that rosi was coming from the marines to infiltrate him (maybe from vergo idk) and he didn’t immediately go for the kill he could’ve manipulated the shit outta the situation and turned rosi to his side or at least to being a neutral party. Like rosi obviously despite it all has a ton of feelings about doffy still and a major soft spot that makes him unable to properly move against him directly. Partially? Maybe if he had a motivator like law but even when he had the marines and sengoku he was not doing as much as he could’ve to sabotage doffy.
That’s a weakness doffy can exploit the hell out of and I feel that man is possessive enough to even puppet his own brother if that meant keeping him.
OH MY GOSH ANON YOU ARE SO REAL FOR THAT, and now I’m thinking about this obsessively??
Okay, i have a slightly different take on the same theory, have a look at this little doodle about it—

I ADORE the idea of a scenario where this happens, but it starts *after* Corazon has been ‘punished’ for his betrayal. Doffy was tipped off, he had an idea this was coming all along, but he still wanted to see if he would be proven wrong. When he wasn’t, and Rosinante betrayed him after all, his anger was real– but more controlled than what we saw in canon, because he was prepared for this. He misses his vital spots when he shoots him. When he wakes up again, after a long time being unconscious, it’s in a soft bed with all his injuries tended to and Doffy is right there to greet him. That’s when the manipulation begins– Doffy saying he knows Rosi would’ve never betrayed him unless his hand was forced, he knows he didn’t really want to, he was angry then but he forgives his darling baby brother, his last remaining family. He puts on this act saying oh, but you did it all for little Law, didn’t you? So stupid but so kind, how could i be angry at you for wanting to save that kid, I was fond of him too, i wanted to save him too.
And Rosi knows this is all a manipulation tactic. He knows Doffy isn’t actually that forgiving or naive, and there’s a sharp edge in his tone that he can’t conceal no matter how honeyed his words are. But he starts to fall for it, when Doffy keeps it up, when he starts acting and talking about the situation in this way so much and so convincingly it starts to become reality in Rosi’s head. He can’t even hold onto the idea that some prime gaslighting is going on here because Doffy is just that convincing, and it muddles his head even more just how affectionate and caring Doffy seems about him when his body is so weak and still recovering.
And I think, with his purpose for the Marines thrown out the window and the knowledge that Law survived, Rosi really doesn’t have a lot left to hold onto. Doflamingo plays on that incredibly well. I think in the end Rosinante would still keep the morals he holds the strongest, but there’ll be a lot of lines he’ll cross, a lot of justifications he’ll make, and eventually he will be almost as perfect for him as Doflamingo wants him to be.
Thank you for this ask!! This was fun to think about 😳🫶🏽

I might explode if I don't share this, so here goes an unhinged rant/theory that has to do with the Book of Bill. brace yourself!!
ALRIGHT SO background: yesterday I read a post talking about Silas Birchtree being one of the best iterations of "Bill using a human body as a flesh puppet" (agreed), and somewhere (I can't recall if it was op or a comment I'm sorry) there was this joke about Bill having a thing for people with tree surnames. and I was like haha funny yeah, and then moved on with my day.
but NOW IT HIT ME.
IT'S NOT SIMPLY TREES, OR LIKE, ANY KIND OF TREE.
HE FIRST WENT FOR A GUY WITH THE SURNAME BIRCHTREE. BIRCH. YOU KNOW, THAT WHITE TREE THAT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS EYES ALL OVER???
AND THEN, OH THEN HE WENT FOR PINES. A PRETTY TRIANGULAR-LOOKING TREE IF YOU ASK ME.
AND- OKAY I'M PROBABLY JUST REACHING HERE BUT HEAR ME OUT.
DOES HE,, DOES HE HAVE SOME SORT OF STRONGER INFLUENCE/PULL TOWARDS THINGS THAT SOMEWHAT RELATE TO HIM?? (not really sure why he'd go for trees* twice but- TRIANGLES, EYE(S), BILLS?, CIPHERS)
AND YOU MIGHT BE THINKING "nah he's just that badly egotistical, he picks like that on purpose" AND AT FIRST I WAS ALSO GOING TO JUST SIT WITH THAT CONCLUSION (and not write this post) BUT LIKE ACTUALLY NO THAT'S NOT IT.
BECAUSE alright let's say for the sake of argument that Bill could've had anyone else with a big brain and self-esteem issues construct his portal (debatable) and he just happened to choose Ford because "ehehe surname relating to me and birth defect too"...
BUT HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN SILAS???
THE GUY JUST RANDOMLY DIED. HE CHOKED ON A COIN THAT HE TOSSED AFTER FAILING TO MAKE BUSINESS IN THAT TOWN. JUST THEN DID BILL KICK HIS LITTLE CULT-FOR-PORTAL-CONSTRUCTION PLAN INTO MOTION, WHICH, NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT, WAS DESTINED TO FAIL FROM THAT CHOICE ALONE.
HERE it is WAY harder to make the argument that he could've picked anyone from the town because, unless he was planning to fail on purpose, why would he choose a rotting body as a host?? it makes no sense: it puts a time limit to get it all done before the body is completely useless. it doesn't make any sense unless that was his only option. maybe he was already planning on entering the guy's dreams but then he just dropped dead and Bill went "ah shit. well, time to work with what we have, I guess!"
SO! in short, I believe that whoever Bill uses as his puppet/anchor to this world has to meet the requirement of somehow relating to him (his imagery and/or motifs), not just out of preference, but because it's a must, some sort of limitation or arbitrary rule that he has to follow, for him to be able to get to you.
...and personally I think that THAT'S SO COOL AND INTERESTING OMG MR. HIRSCH YOU ARE SUCH A BIG BRAINED MAN-
SO YEAH. I might be going a little insane. perhaps. cheers to that!!
now I have to figure out how/if this rule checks out with Alex Hirsch himself because (canonically? I think?) Bill has controlled him before and (iirc) is implied to still be tethered to him in some way
*the only explanation I can think of for trees would be the fact that [tree -> three -> triangle] but like idk that might be too far. or maybe that's precisely why he can only go for things related to specific trees, like [birch = tree + eyes] and then [pines = tree + triangular shape]. maybe the rule is even more complex than I first thought... hmmm

So idk if everyone has already realized this and I'm just super slow- but here's a theory for what each of the statues in the Elders Hall mean- I think that each of the nine statues represent the nine wonderous arts/divinities.
The first one is very obvious. the statue of a man with dripping candles for hands, made of amber, is obviously inferno
The rest is more theory but bear with me.
I think the white marble statue of the conjoined twins with the decorative mask over their eyes is masquerade. The mask is giving the vibe of being able to be anything you want and pass as anything you want. The turquoise statue of the blindfolded man has to be veil- Because darkness- I think the rose quarts statue of the woman with eight pairs of arms is weaving-Idk when i imagine weaving its complex and the eight pairs of arms just plays in to that. Now the last one would logically have to be either nocturne or ruination- Nocturne doesn't really make sense for this since its singing and bringing wunder- I mean the way Ezra Squall talks of wunder and of the wundersmith being their master, then it could maybe be that. Nocturne at least seems more likely since ruination is to destroy something, which doesn't seem likely from what it looks like.
My other theory is that the amethyst statue of the sinister marionnettiste and dead-eyed puppet is that it is whatever art Squall used to control the Marvelous Malau and the audience for the seance- Maybe its one of the two arts we have yet to learn the of- Okay that's all y'all- Have this theory that might seem super obvious to everyone else

night at the museum puppet history au
okay so
Ryan is the new night guard at a children's history museum, it's full of funny puppets most roughly the size of what the new professor puppet is now (some smaller, some bigger)
and much like Larry, he very quickly finds out that these puppets come to life at night and i mean, yeah he freaks out, it's life-size puppets coming to life, that's not exactly non-creepy
Shane is the curator of the museum and likes to make jokes about how the puppets seem to have a life of their own sometimes (Ryan isn't sure if he knows about what happens at night in the museum but Shane absolutely knows)
The main point of the museum is that it hosts various educational talks about history appropriate for small kids right and Shane is just one of the many puppeteers (he usually controls the Professor) but once Ryan makes friends with the puppets, the Professor and co. like to teach Ryan about the more obscure and non-PG history that we get in the actual show (idk about you but cannibalism and death is not exactly kid friendly and the Professor has been dying to tell someone about all this history he knows)
that's all i have for now
#give me a second im cooking okay#puppet history#watcher#night at the museum#anyways i watched natm the other night and this idea took root in my brain#i dunno how to fit some of the other lore bits into this but it'll come to me eventually maybe

i'm gonna ramble a bit here idk if it'll make sense.
i've always been the biggest advocate of not viewing things black and white in jjk, meaning everything is understandable from the readers' point of view, BUT that doesn't mean that the story itself doesn't have distinct boundaries between what's "good" and "bad" in the narrative. take geto, for example. great character, you can't help but like him, but even then you know he's an antagonist for a reason. the narrative says so, even the characters say so. there's a running theme in jjk where every antagonist (and antagonist-adjacent) character is motivated to control other people's bodies—geto and non-sorcerers (to a lesser extent), kenjaku and his CT, mahito and his CT, sukuna needing to have a host, etc. kenjaku, for the most part, has always been our point of reference when we talk about evil in the story. which is why it's so jarring to see yuuta, of all people, resort to the same thing. for the greater good? okay, let's talk about the do or die of the greater good in jjk.
the greater good in this arc is to stop sukuna to save humanity. but even then, this cause has always been eclipsed by less righteous, personal reasons, like wanting to save megumi, or wanting to fight sukuna. those are the reasons pushed for readers to see, to care about. while understandable (they are human, after all), compared to its contemporaries, jjk isn't really a manga where characters sacrifice their morals for the greater good. in fact (i've mentioned this once), for a structured organization with the goal to protect humanity, humanity itself isn't of much importance in the narrative. the story has always centered around the sorcerers. but that aside, in times of despair (like yuuji in shibuya), they've always shown remorse and regret for the things that they cannot control, hesitation. while there is no altruistic character in the series, no one has ever wanted or willingly suggested anything aligned with puppeteering. (why would they? isn't the cog mentality something we're trying to move past, especially with the machine now destroyed?)
to have yuuta be the first to suggest a plan like this is...jarring. from what's written, sure we can accredit it to his love and understanding for his teacher, but yuuta knows what happened to geto. the cast has seen what kenjaku can do and has done. you could say that yuuta has a history with control (rika, in a way), but i like to think that he's grown since volume 0. could this be a desperate last resort by a panicked child? yeah, maybe. but it barely reads that way. there are too many interpretations to call it that, it isn't convincing enough. this is also the first time we've ever seen gojo referred to as a "monster," despite being untouchable and revered as god-like throughout the manga. there are some panels earlier in the series of the cast being asked what gojo is to them, and most people answered that he's the strongest alone. i don't recall yuuta being asked, so maybe he's thought of this concept of "monstrosity" for a while, but it would've built up better if we were shown some sympathetic sentiments from him prior to this chapter. it would've tied everything together well. alas. thanks for the off-screen growths, timeskip.
while for different reasons (does the end justify the means in this story? what about geto?), the fact of the matter is yuuta has adopted kenjaku's methodology for the greater good. what does that mean for jjk's alignment and ideology? could this be commentary on the dreariness of teeth-gritting reality? maybe. i think this chapter alone has ultimately changed what morality means in the bigger story. after all, it's practically a lawless land right now with everything destroyed. but what kind of message will we end with? is there something that needs to be said, or is there nothing at all?
#jjk#jjk 261#jjk leaks#jjk spoilers#jujutsu kaisen#there were some people telling me that life isn't black and white and yea i know that 😭#but in a story? it's anything you make it to be. what's gege doing then?#i wonder if my opinion will change next week

The hospital scene in Play My Way.
Okay now for the whole "Things I noticed in the Play My Way music video" part 2 where I talk about the whole "I don't wanna go in there" scene.
First off, Wooly telling us that she "isn't in there just trust me" I find it interesting how he really does not want to go into this hospital. "Hide and Seek" in the Amanda timeline is the pilot and I'm pretty sure it happens before the events of the first game so why would Wooly be afraid of the hospital. I say hospital mainly because of the scenes that follow and the heart monitor beeps flowing across the screen.
Then again, in the second game they both seem afraid of the meatman who is tied to a surgeon so... that "fear of hospitals" trait might just be Hameln trauma. 👀 (But I don't know why Amanda wouldn't be afraid them. She's straight up playing surgeon.)
Is it just me or did the door just appear out of nowhere? :/ Also. "I don't wanna go. I just wanna play my way." Interesting...
"I just wanna go... anywhere." "I just wanna go... home..."
I'd say that these lines apply to Amanda because these lines clearly fit Amanda to a T. But why are they showing up during Wooly's verse. Maybe... this line applies to both of them? Amanda is just more... forward about it? IDK seeing "I just wanna go home" makes me so sad for them tho.
Okay so my theory that Amanda killed Mr. Fox is right... also the theory that Mr. Fox was a living character similar to the opossum seems to probably be true. But then... why did Mr. Fox never come back like Wooly? And why in both games is Amanda so glad he's gone? Was he a Hameln Employee? Or an annoying character like the opossum?
Now if you play this scene in 0.25... hold up... did Wooly kill Mr. Fox? At first I thought it was Amanda... but Wooly's the one covered in blood here. And there's a bit of a pause before he gets covered in blood and gasps. Also... why are there questions marks next to Amanda's name here? Is it really Amanda talking or the demon? Okay... honestly I think it was the demon talking here. And the look that Wooly gives the demon is just... weird. A little angry even.
Either way someone killed Mr. Fox... and Amanda seems pretty happy about it. Playing with his organs and stuff. That said, the idea of Wooly snapping and killing someone in the past would be so interesting and unexpected. Because when I first heard the song and it's lyrics I assumed Amanda had killed Mr. Fox. While that could still be the case... now I'm unsure. But it is an interesting idea specifically because it is so unlike Wooly. This is literally just an idea tho.
After Mr. Fox dies, Amanda says "Now we can PLAY ALL DAY and we will play MY way." which honestly makes me wonder what kind of role as an NPC Mr. Fox played. Maybe Mr. Fox was in some way in charge of keeping Amanda and Wooly on-script in some way? He seems like an elderly character... so maybe a caretaker to Amanda and Wooly? Like... maybe someone who told them when the adventure was over at the end of the day? IDK. If I sound like I have any clue what I'm talking about during these Play my Way theory posts I don't I'm honestly just posting ideas of what it could mean cuz I don't have a solid idea myself.
Amanda goes on to say that she made her own game. So maybe the way the first and second games go is how things are going under her control? Then the lyrics say they are "puppets with beating hearts and strings made out of magnetic tape." which... yeah makes sense. They are real people trapped in this fictional world. Magnetic tape seems oddly specific too... hmm... "we're cursed to play all day, but never play our way." Hmmm... interesting... this is all so very interesting.

rambling thoughts on Frisk and The Player in this AU maybe.
(also this is the only instance in which i'll have Frisk directly talk rather than have their words Narrated by the Narrator because it was more convenient to just do that for a little non-canon doodle.)
I think 'The Player' is (probably??) still a thing here its just that 1) Frisk is too young and isolated from other humans to realize that this isnt Normal. They think 'The Player' is just, like, their conscious. And 2) The player has much more limited control over Frisk at this point compared to the control they have over Frisk in Undertale and Kris Deltarune. Its also just a different dynamic with Frisk and Player than Kris and Player.
If Kris and Player are a Puppet and Puppeteer, Frisk and Player (given that this au takes place after a True Pacifist Route specifically) are more of... a dog on a leash. Frisk is walking on their own, but the Player is keeping them on the right path. An unwelcomed(?) parasite for Kris, but a Guiding Light for Frisk.
Frisk is young enough in Undertale that they aren't really like.. an independent person yet? They don't have any Strong moral principles or set path in life or anything, they're at an age where they're very much still developing an identity and an understanding of the world and are thus heavily vulnerable to outside influence, for better or worse.
DR:BT probably takes place around a year after the True Pacifist ending, so Frisk has had time to begin to grow into their own person, influenced by the choices the Player guided them to make while in the underground, but without any actual direct input from the Player until DR:BT happens.
At which point the Player, while still able to influence Frisk's actions, cannot make a 'choice' that Frisk wouldn't make. If that makes sense?
Like, if Frisk is asked their favorite icecream Flavor, the Player might get the options Chocolate, Mint, Butterscotch, because all three of those are flavors Frisk likes enough to consider their favorite, and the Player can give them the nudge to decide WHICH of those three is their favorite. But the player couldn't make Frisk say 'Strawberry' because even if the Player likes it, Frisk doesn't, and they Know they don't, and the Player can't Change that. The Player's actions in Undertale [Determined] the type of person Frisk is now, and the Player cannot undo that at this point.
For that reason this AU also won't have any kind of 'snowgrave' route! Frisk isn't that kind of person! You MADE Frisk into Not that kind of person! YOU gave them a sense of morality and compassion, too late to go back on that!
idk!! rambling!! ill figure out the exacts with time!!

hai dhmisers im back do you think the main three are constantly sedated. do you think everything is bright and blurry to them. do you think lights flash in their faces and they dont know what they are and they talk all night but everything is hazy and they dont remember the conversation. do you think they have to fight the urge to stumble over because theyre dizzy and a bit confused but theyre so used to it that theyve gotten good at ignoring it. do you think duck had to ask red guy if he noticed the darkness because their surroundings are already so confusing and blurry that they have to confirm with each other what theyre seeing is what they think it is. do you think duck genuinely cant tell if its a bee or not. do you think yellow guy fell and broke the computer orb because he constantly feels drowsy and dizzy. do you think duck says the pain of his finger being cut or his organs being literally removed doesnt bother him at all because hes so out of it he doesnt register the pain. do you think red guy barely reacts to blood loss because it doesnt feel that different than normal. do you think lesley is also up there zooted out her damn mind and the words she says dont truly mean much because shes loopy as hell. all four of them tripping for eternity because they all have roles to fill and working minds dont make great puppets.
idk this is just how i assume the characters see the world. dizzy and blurry like waking up after a car crash. maybe a little ringing in the ears too. also the stage lights kind of blind them but when they look up its too bright and smudged to understand theres no ceiling. im not sure what or who would be doing this to them (im a firm believer lesley is one of them and not controlling them ive made this very clear through like seven different rants) but idk i just dont think theyd view things clearly i never really thought they would
ive always liked this idea more than the idea of them just seeing a regular house. i feel like thats not whats happening, i think they can see whats there but not fully comprehend or make out all of it. idk its 5am im tired as hell forgive me if im rusty on the dhmis lore and forgot some bullshit cuz knowing becky and joe they probably confirmed 13 years ago in a random lost media facebook post that the puppets see in ps2 graphics and im stupid and wrong rn

I'm really curious to see the reaction of the 'we want lower production content just like this' to puppet history season 7 which is the most high quality thing watcher produces and that show would really suffer if they put less into it. anyway not to start dishose again but thank you for pointing that out, reading the yt comments of 'we want production just like this' when Ryan is like 'yeah hauing all that equipment was insanely tiring and it made me stressed out and more scared' is like. oh so you really just want an imagined version of what you saw. anyway sorry to rant in your inbox i just am glad to see someone else point it out lol. (no need to answer if you don't want to btw)
NONNIE! <3 thank you for reading my tags and leaving this message!
honestly I'd already considered making a post about this a couple times because when I read through the comments for GFA on yt nothing makes me wish more that the platform had a 'block user' feature -_- I wish some people a very poor internet connection
it feels like so many people don't UNDERSTAND what Ryan was trying to do with GFA. he wasn't trying to return to his bfu roots (though he said making it more vlog style was something he had in mind, but he was also constrained by what he could film alone)
GFA was a personal challenge to himself after he's been trying to get a handle on his mental health for the past few years. Ryan wanted to go completely on his own to see if removing the crew would change anything and if he was mentally capable of doing all of it on his own, and that meant running camera and sound and everything else alone too
I won't spoil the debrief in case you didn't see it nonnie, but Ryan was really insistent that he do this show 100% on his own. I can't imagine knowing the physical and mental toll this took on him and then telling him "make all your shows like this"
and yeah, it makes me wonder on the general public's media comprehension because I know overall PH is their most popular series, and one of their most expensive and high quality too. maybe there's not much overlap of the two audiences?? idk I think it's also possible that people see PH as just Shane making some sock puppets and waving his hands around a cardboard theater - but it hasn't ever been that and the closest we had was s1 if anything (I'll stop myself going off on a PH crew tangent here, but there is SO MUCH that goes into making this show as good as it is)
I keep thinking back to the December Pod Watcher episode where they talked about how they're not going to focus on making "tv-caliber content" going forward (timestamp included but I'm paraphrasing Steven here, so watch that ep if you haven't) and that makes me sad because I've always liked and appreciated Watcher for making high quality content - for having well thought out series with nice sets, great camera work, phenomenal editing, and always making sure to give credit to the people who worked on their shows
Ryan worked as a grip for a while in Hollywood and probably had dreams of going further in the film industry but wound up going a different route working on bfu. I have to assume that starting Watcher must have felt like the opportunity to make a whole production company, to be able to emulate styles and storytelling of some of his favorite filmmakers. as someone who enjoys supporting independent creative endeavors like this (and had similar aspirations of my own) I guess I can see what Watcher wanted to be from the outset, and I wouldn't feel comfortable commenting publicly on any of their work what I think they "should" be making or trying to control their artistic vision
#asks#nonnie#Vi Rant#not gonna main tag this because it got LONG but#watchergate#ish? if you're sensitive to that still#if you read all this thank you <3#comments are welcome in the notes#I could talk about this for hours lol#this is what happens when you ask a neurodivergent fangirl for opinions ok#I think I really needed to let all this out so thank you /gen#I feel like if I see more comments like this on their socials I'll end up on the news /j

(to the ppl who already saw this from leaks, you can ignore this <3)
GUYS THE BIRD IS BACK. I SAY THE BIRD IS BACKKKKKK. WE’RE EATING GOOD GUYS.
Anyways back to serious business, let’s analyze this lightcone. First we see Sparkle controlling two ppl, a puppet of herself and Sampo. (Sampo is so pretty oml him in suits is just…<3) My first thought was: Sparkle is making a play or a stage controlling both herself and Sampo to create an entertaining story for both herself and Aha. I thought Aha because of the several masks peeking behind her and the bird on the stage. But let’s look at the story.
—Who witnessed his death?
—Me! I spied it with my little eyes!
—Who took his blood?
—Me! I used my little saucer!
—Who dug his grave?
—Me! Using my chisel and shovel!
The wise uses all techniques in their arsenal, the sovereign soothes their heart with power, the hero views themselves to be righteous, and the fool laughs ceaselessly—
"Now, let us welcome Ms. Sparkle to bring us the performance of the year—'Penacony's Night of Fright'!"
I’ll be really honest, I’m utterly confused. But thank goodness the jp translation exists. The “Me!” dialogues all belong to Sparkle. It’s clear that the story refers to events that occurred on Penacony, probably during the party. The wise, the sovereign, the hero, and the fool all refer to presumably the playable characters attending the event. Fool is obviously Sparkle, the sovereign could be Sunday, the wise is probably Dr. Ratio (?) and the hero is most likely the MC.
Now let me start talking abt crazy stuff:
The mask over Sampo makes me feel that it's actually not him but some kind of stand-in, another reason I feel this way is because there are only three strings on him contrary to Sparkle’s four strings. Just as NPCs have less movement, three strings to me indicate that Sampo is capable of fewer moves compared to Sparkle. Which just gives me the vibes this Sampo isn’t so real. Also, the fact he’s wearing a suit over his actual outfit is hot, but it makes him feel even more like a stand-in. (Also with the new trailer, the scene where Sampo knocks MC out, his red eyes makes me think it's Sparkle)
Also, does Sampo get “killed” by Sparkle here? I feel like he does, because I’m pretty sure they’re playing rock paper and scissors and Sparkle is winning here, and it ties back to the whole “someone dying on Penacony,” thing. Also the wording in “Who witnessed his death?” in JP, can also be loosely interpreted as being involved in his death. Besides, a murderer is also a witness to a death soo idk.
Also, also, I wonder why the Aha masks in the back look so..sad? The smiling masks are almost too close to Sparkle for comfort, and they look like they’re on the edge of their seats and want to see more. But the masks in the back seem so withdrawn from the drama and look like they’re only watching out of obligation. Maybe my theory abt Aha being an amalgamation of different personalities has a chance. i haven't really played the story yet so I'm scared </3
