hello and welcome to nightly nightcat!! this blog is pretty much what it says on the box; most days you'll get silly slugcat doodles of varying quality :3 i do consider nightcat & watcher to be different character but you'll probably be seeing a bit of both here, and i will try to keep watcher content to a minimum/tag any spoilers until it's been out on console for a bit

the inbox is OPEN for requests/suggestions, questions !!! it may take me a bit to get to things (especially requests) but i promise i see all of them + am planning drawings accordingly

☆ what drawing program do you use? i primarily draw in krita though you'll see me using ms paint + wigglypaint in here occasionally too

☆ can i used your art as a pfp/banner/etc? yes as long as this blog or @/lilypucks is credited somewhere :3

☆ what the hell is going on with ur nightcat great question i don't know . i have many headcanons and theyre all different and also exist at the same time i do think she is separate from watcher yet also inextricably linked

☆ are there any guidelines for requests/submissions? nope! as long as its a nightcat and not like. actively harmful/inappropriate go crazy (also i won't be drawing people's ocs either sorry)

i decided to revisit my rain world anthro designs, but give a bit more charm to them. i went into this hoping to use it as a creative exercise, but above all, as an outlet and way of healing

ive had this idea for well over a year, and got to starting it a bit less than a week ago. it simply revolved around the idea of the slugcats having more rain world-centric clothing. as simple as the idea was, it turned out to be more complex and some of the ideas i had didnt even make the cut unfortunately :c

sorry in advance for the "boring" pose each of them have - it was mainly for reference purposes to make it easy to follow

monk and survivor have matching clothes because they are youths from their community in outer expanse. their cloaks are made from the pelts of yeeks and the insides are woven with leaves from outer expanse's big, looming fauna. the necklace monk has has one blue lizard scale that was shed from a lizard they tamed

hunter dons a red lizard head and pelt, with the latter held together around their body with a red lizard tooth. alongside that, they have a king vulture mask. both of their headgear are able to sit on them comfortably because of grapple worm parts being used as a fastening material. i think they wear these to send a message and because they're proud of their achievements

gourmand, alongside monk and survivor, has leaves sewn into their caramel lizard cloak. the neckpiece is made from lilypucks after they ate them for the food quest. it is not attached to the cloak and goes around their whole neck, similar to a lei. this is my least favorite design and is the most likely to get an overhaul because i think it could be more intricate. let me know what you think

artificer, obviously, has the chieftain scavenger mask, though they tied the explosive spear fabric to it to hold it in place. similarly, the scavenger pelt and snail shell are also held together with the red fabric. the snail shell is used as a pouch to hold more bombs, though it cannot hold spears

spearmaster was an interesting character and was the most difficult for me, alongside gourmand. i decided to go with a leviathan skin (blubber?). spearmaster's ties to being a purposed organism made me think this would be fitting. since they're on a specific mission for the iterators, them having access to otherwise "unkillable" creatures for clothing kind of felt right. the leviathan's skin is durable, which is just what they need for the amount of trekking they must do. the miros vulture feathers were trophies they got themselves.

rivulet's was fun! when i started this project a year ago, i had monk, survivor, and rivulet's ideas down. all i wanted was a jetfish scarf, and i added a monster kelp cloak on top of it. the monster kelp helps keep their wet skin hydrated

saint's cloak is made from popcorn plants and woven with discarded scavenger fur that they found, to help insulate and keep them warm. they have a lantern necklace. the more fun idea to explore was the earmuffs, which are repurposed spore puffs infused with fire power. very silly indeed

Meet Seven Red Suns!

As promised, here's the they. (Also I will be redoing Moon and Pebbles soon)

Suns, named Snowblind, was built in a cold, snowy region where most the ancients living there were IceWings. Despite this, they chose to make their puppet stand out from them as a bright golden color rather than white, gray, or blue.

Since most of the creatures that attempted to raid the structure had thick fur, thick skin, and were generally big and tanky to deal with the cold, Snowblind wasn't made to be directly lethal like the others were. Instead, Snowblind was made to incapacitate and cripple. Similar to most other puppets, however, Snowblind's personality does reflect that of their ancients-cold, uncaring, and strict.

Raids were often unsuccessful in Suns' structure, as they had a combination of abilities that made it difficult to sneak past them. They can exhale freezing gusts of air that can trap creatures. They can choose how reflective they are, ranging from 'shiny metal' to 'snow sheets on a winter morning'. Their tail is a spiked weapon. And their preferred usage of nets to entangle raiders, as well as traps set up throughout their city, made it impossible to beat them.

After the ascension of their ancients, Snowblind softened up a little, mostly thanks to conversations with their fellow puppets. They grew particularly close to Vigilance (NSH's puppet) and Garnet (Pebbles' puppet).

Vigilance eventually caught and raised a slugcat for his own reasons, and Snowblind initially was hostile and threatened to kill the slugcat themselves several times. However, both after seeing the slugcat for themselves and hearing how Vigilance talked about how helpful it was in raids, Snowblind wanted to try it. So, in the next raid in their structure, they went about things normally before noticing a pair of scups trapped in the edge of ice. Impressed by their resilience, Snowblind looked at the two and chose the younger one, flinging the other off the side of the structure. Then, they fixed it up, gave it the ability to produce spears from any bit of scrap metal, and called it the master of spears before Vigilance suggested to call it the Spearmaster for the ease of one word.

The slugcat seemed uninterested in obeying, so Snowblind instead used a physical shock to get it to listen to them. Occasionally, they'd send Vigilance a broadcast discussing the latest developments with the slugcat, but overtime, Vigilance grew concerned with the treatment. The final straw was when Snowblind eagerly told Vigilance they'd successfully gotten it to stop eating when it was exposed. Vigilance lost it on Snowblind, accusing them of ruining their slugcat and that they had to treat it like a partner-not a pet. That Spearmaster was just afraid of Snowblind. Snowblind, of course, ignored this, and instead pushed back on Vigilance and said he'd made his slugcat weak with it's affection for him. Vigilance threatened to physically take away Spearmaster, and Snowblind said that if he dared to try, they'd kill him.

So a great relationship there.

After the training of Spearmaster, and after some time passed, Garnet eventually started asking the group about a strange plant in his region. Nobody told him, with Lilypuck explicitly telling everyone not to tell him for his own safety, but Snowblind chose to explain it to Garnet anyway in a late-night meeting in his city. This also backfired horribly, and after Vulture (Innocence's Puppet) exposed that Garnet was part of the Hivemind, Snowblind felt awful and has their only true regret here (well, except for maybe the regret of Spearmaster as a whole).

Snowblind is often perched high-up in their city, watching it carefully for raiders and showing no mercy to them. When Lilypuck was knocked off her structure, Snowblind commanded Spearmaster to try and find her, even though he knew the slugcat was not prepared for the outside world. Snowblind did try to find Lilypuck themselves, but just like everyone else, had no luck.

13. i decided im upset about slugpups who weren't taken in from the whiteboard event i had with my friends back in june(link to those pups, the explanation is in part one)...so i adopted them into blooming terrarium, which is like gth's shelter for wild runaway scugs and different kinds of critters they took interest in!

and yes, lilypucks twins are either dead or taken in by someone, but definitely not by gth (since, you know...memory crypts...kind of hard to survive there and an iterator definitely can't just poof get them from here)

14. had to map out where eclipse of sunrise, celestial magnificence and good things happen are in relation to pebbles...the maps aren't finished but at least i quickly came up with the basic concepts!

15. weird iterators...(just thought of a random 'iterator that looks like a scavenger' idea and we doodled. they're friends)

Glory-of-the-Snow Lore Dump

Glory (they/it) is a Mohsnian, which is a race from the Fool's Gold DnD module. Members of the Mohsnian race are made entirely of crystal, and gained sentience from an ancient magic user. They reproduce by carving a child from crystal and imbuing it with a piece of their soul.

Glory picked its name based on a flower they liked, which matched their own amethyst coloration. Even from a young age, they found beauty in the natural world around them.

Glory had three "parents" growing up, as well as a younger sibling, though Glory left home before really getting to know them. Mohsnians reach maturity around age 50, and that sibling was only around for about ten years before Glory left the city of Granite.

Glory didn't know what they wanted to do with their life for quite a while. For a while they considered being a jeweler or blacksmith, but they didn't feel quite at home with those professions. Around when Glory turned 60, they were exploring the wilderness outside Granite and found a campsite. The human who set it up had died, presumably trying to reach Granite, and left behind his young Cryodon companion. Glory brought the Cryodon back to Granite and learned about Cryodon Guides and their role in Cryodon society, and decided to head to Breckart to consult the Cryodon Council on a course of action.

Glory really only intended on taking this young Cryodon back to its homeland so it could be reassigned to a proper guide, but over the course of their travel, the two grew quite close. Glory learned his name was Bear, given to him by his previous guide. When Glory and Bear spoke to the Council, they suggested that Glory be Bear's new guide, which they enthusiastically accepted.

Over the next 60 years, Glory and Bear traveled together, learning all they could, until Bear reached maturity. The pair returned to Breckart with their adventure together completed.

Glory, now an experienced Guide, was offered an opportunity that few others are given. Having successfully raised Bear to maturity, Glory was asked to raise a second Cryodon, this one from birth. Glory accepted, and was introduced to a new baby Cryodon not long after.

Glory, in Mohsnian tradition, allowed their new companion the chance to choose her own name when she was ready. Nearly a year into their travels, she settled on Bluebell as her name.

So Glory and Bluebell set out on an adventure for knowledge.

Not long after Bluebell chooses her name, they meet a Weaver named Nills, and her own Cryodon companion, Lilypuck. The two get on like a house on fire, but Bluebell and Lily become fast friends. Not long after, the duo meet Mercillis and Cebba, and the four humanoids plus three animal companions (including Cebba's panther, Void), make up a small adventuring party to help out some folks in Bundariko Village. They manage to defeat some local monsters, talk with the Goblin population of setting up a trade network with nearby towns, and get a quest to explore some Foreclaimer ruins.

My silly guys name is within boundless fog. He is a member of unnamed dissonance's local group, although he is a lot more solitary than the rest of the group. Often stopping all communications with others for many cycles at a time, leading to three undiscovered lilypucks to make a slugcat just to make sure he's alive after a particularly long absence. He can be quite rude or blunt to those around him, but he tends to be rather timid when interacting with anyone outside of his group.

Gooieduck - I'm gonna be real with you I have no idea what this is. They're flora I guess, but they also breathe???? To eat them you first have to pop them by holding the eat button. They're pretty convenient, you can find them in the Outer Expanse and the Subterranean

Lilypuck - a glowing waterlily! while edible, they're also a weapon - their stalk is as sharp as glass and can be thrown and used as a spear! Found in the flooded parts of the world, most.often Shaded Citadel

Dandelion peach - presumably peach-flavor dandelion.puffs, found in Sky Islands!

Glow weed - they're algae I think? theyre.mostly compressed air and seaweed. they glow and can be used as lanterns or exchanged with Scavengers

Seed - In the time of Saint, it's the freaking ice age, so instead of usint spears (Something Saint can't do), you just wait for a blizzard and collect the seeds that pop out.of a frozen Popcorn plant

Fire egg - Saint again. In the boiling hot hellish area of Rubicon, Firebugs can be found. If killed with a special spear, they'll pop and drop eggs - they resemble bubble fruit, but are usually pink or red or orange!

Giant jellyfish - it's a jellyfish... that is gigantic. If killed, pops into edible pieces.

spearmaster is a unique fella in that he can eat from any creature by stabbing them! but a few foods are unavailable to him if not stabbable

Lilypuck sounds good! I eat the roast and eat the stalks, roots, and bulbs of waterlilies. The seed pods you can eat raw!
