i was tagged by @winterlovesong1 nearly a month ago - thank you!! - to "shuffle [my] repeat playlist and post the first ten tracks, then tag ten people."

as i am an album girlie but also someone incapable of not pouncing on any opportunity to talk music, i'm posting my ten most on repeat albums of the moment and tagging no one. ✨

1. going grey (2017) by the front bottoms - a front bottoms' album topping the list? groundbreaking.

going grey was one of the first tfb albums i connected with, and then it kinda fell from grace in my rotation. i'd be drawn to it only infrequently while surveying my complete tbf collection and deciding for what i was in the mood. the last couple months, though, it's every other album i play, period.

i recently read an interview brian sella did while promoting the album/tour (found via my browsing of google image results for 'the front bottoms'. leave me alone.) and he mentions that the ocean noises at the start and finish make it so you can put the album on perfect loop. well. i'm here to report to you that doing so is immensely satisfying.

2. the balance (2019) by catfish and the bottlemen - i periodically pick through the 'you might also like' section itunes provides at the bottom of every album page these days, so i found this particular album via beautiful people will ruin your life (2018). i like the toucan on the cover, and i like the opening track "longshot" even more!

3. all hell (2024) by los campesinos! - the first time i listened to this album, i had the audacity to be a little bored. i thought it dragged. pshaw!

i'm actually in love with every track. fifty full minutes of jams, and i count myself blessed. i think "clown blood; or, orpheus' bobbing head" is my favorite, though.

4. the horror and the wild (2020) by the amazing devil - okay, this one hasn't actually been in rotation, but i did play it on my recent drive to ohio and "battle cries" moved me to tears. again.

i worship music that rips into your chest and demands you love your monotonous life. speaking of...

5. talon of the hawk (2013) by the front bottoms - i mean. this one is pretty much always on repeat. i wanna contribute to the chaos, i don't wanna watch and then complain.

in related news, "backflip" has always been a glossed-over track in my listening experience, but my latest run through the album had me connecting with it. art revealing itself to you slowly, haltingly is one of my favorite things about being alive.

6. the loveliest time (2023) by carly rae jepsen - this was another one i put on for my drive, but i was compelled to come back a few subsequent times. every crj album is like a seed planted inside me. as long as i'm nurturing joy, it will burst into bloom.

7. collide with the sky (2012) by pierce the veil - i was having mild success writing for betty and jughead while this played in the background idk

8. and everyone else smiled back (2021) by bears in trees - in theory, they described themselves in a way so perfectly tailored to me!! i have not decided how i feel about their music in practice. guess i gotta listen one more time...

9. sobermore (2025) by cj the x - not a full album but what if i derive all my present-day musical enrichment from it anyway?

10. back on top (2015) by the front bottoms - this album turns ten this year!!! i have not had it in my life for nearly that long, but i find myself wondering how i will feel about it ten years into knowing it. certain moments (when my mind is uncertain, my body decides) are now knotted messily into my understanding of my own history, so i'll certainly never be neutral. but will i have listened so much, i never reach for it unless sparingly? will this album be foundational but firmly of my past? will i be sick of it?

i've loved things this hard before and grown indifferent. but the fact of the matter is, as i've tried to sum up this looking forward to an ending while living in a meaningful present, no fewer than three tfb songs have flitted through my head ("swimming pool", "everything i own", "leaf pile"). they have me by the throat now, and i am enjoying it while it lasts.

my favorite version of death note has to be the musical. the jdrama probably comes in a very close second. i adore all the other versions just as much honestly, i like viewing them all as their own separate stories because each of them are just so good in their own rights. the musical wins though because i've listened to that damn soundtrack too many times, i'm a threatre kid, it was the first version of death note i watched, and also because oh my god they're so doomed yaoi it hurts.

the score is so damn thought-out it actually hurts. each actor i've seen portray the silly guys does it so well and OOUGGG THE VOICES OUGGGGH,,, also its ending is my favorite out of them all. (spoilers for this next sentence if you havent seen it) i love the idea of them dying together-- i know it was most likely done because it's a musical and it'd be difficult to pull off a second part but god it's perfect to me nothing beats that amount of "different sides of the same coin" doomed yaoi to me.

only downside is now jeremy jordan has followed me into four different fandoms and that terrifies me.

You can call me honeyfox or any variation, or you can just call me Milo or Autumn, and my pronouns are he/him. I'm trans, queer, gender non-conforming, and arospec, currently in a relationship. I am diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety (general and social), PTSD, and depression (half of those are probably just side effects of the ADHD). I'm a hellenist dedicated to a few deities, primarily showing my dedication by carrying around gemstones they like, saying prayers, and giving assorted offerings. I'm a Leo and an INFP-T. I joined tumblr on April 15th, 2023.

BRO IVE BEEN WANTING TO DO BJD'S FOR AGES its only recently that i kinda want to make the sandersons sbndndndnd. i still wanna do the plushies first cuz im not super great with making things by hand and i dont have the materials to make bjd's of 'em yet. i do have some old dolls, but i get the feeling that if i try to work on them, theyre gonna get really badly messed up

initially i wanted to make the redesigns i have for some of my fave monster high characters so they look more monstery, mostly headmistress bloodgood cuz i am determined to make her look more like a dullahan cuz i have so many thoughts about that in particular and im a lil saddened they never really took that route, but its understandable cuz a) that'd probs take a lot of time to animate and b) dullhahan are actually really terrifying and i dont think they wanted to make her so scary that she'd frighten kids (i feel like if they did go that route, lil kid me wouldve fallen even harder for her than i already did and that is saying something sbdbdn)

i feel like you could probably use some kind of sculpting or modeling clay to add on to the dolls to make them fat, but idk what types of clay would work for that dbbdbd. like, ive seen so many people use clay to sculpt out horns or thicken and/or lengthen a doll's arms or legs, so i dont see why you couldnt do somwthing similar for mary

i swear its something about creating a 3 dimensional thing that feels so exciting and so intrinsicly human, if that makes sense? like, being able to make dolls and figurines and charms and stuff out of clay and puting it together onto something sturdy to make sure it doesnt fall to pieces, something people have done since forever and changed it over time with new materials to work with and new processes to use it just. idk if im maoing a lick of sense, i just woke up shdjdnnf

i dont really have much experience in the sculpting area, but i think thats what makes working with new mediums so much fun. just being able to mess around and learn firsthand what works and doesnt work and learning from that, using your old creations and inspiration for something new. thats part of the reason why i keep a lot of my sketches, even if theyre really old. i always wind up inspired by it, and i wind up recreating the thing with how i do art now, or i try to put it into a new medium i learned as a sort of testament to how much that thing meant to me

aahh, i rambled on too shdjjd. i really wanna make dolls of them now. maybe i should see if my community college has any sculpting classes, that way even if we dont quite learn to make human/human adjacent things, it might give me just the help i need to be able to do it

The End, So Far Album Review

Hello. It's Toad. And this post is all about the new album that Slipknot put out and my thoughts live time while listening to it. This means that they are unfiltered. That being said please understand that I am thankful they shared their art with us yet again, and a review is merely my own opinion of how the music made me feel and my experience while listening to it. 

It's not an argumentative point nor do I wish to have a Socratic seminar on the internet. Spoiler Toad’s real personality is not Ben Shapiro so I don't really enjoy having frivolous little scuffles with people who I am largely unacquainted with. I’m not sure I made a gain in life anytime that I engaged in an argument on the internet. 

However, I love sharing knowledge with others and conversing (and for those of you who don't know arguing and conversing/learning new views are not the same thing!!!). Okay now that I've attracted people who like to fight bahaha let's get on to the review :)

Reminds me of a musical

I can see Shawn put his ✨artiste✨ mind to work here with all the intros

Feels very sinister in the opening

God damnit Corey keeps normally singing and I wanna just hear anger 😂 but still at least it is new and fresh

The guitar solo tho. Who's getting their dick sucked??? 👀👀👀

Ending was sort of strange and gave 70's vibes again

For me 50/50 love/hate the songs. 

Separate from Sone Sour for the most part, but definitely the most mixed that Slipknot has been with them and their style. 

Probably my least favorite album. 

Will continue to listen to it and see if it grows on me more. I initially didn’t like WANYK also so things tend to grow better on me over time.

9. How would you describe your fashion sense this year?

Chaotic lol. I’m the person to either show up in heels, skirt, and coat, or in ripped jeans, black combat boots, black leather jacket. There’s literally no in-between. I can and will do both. So…versatile maybe? And also I just wear whatever I’m in the mood for and judge on how comfortable something is so I don’t know I don’t have a fashion sense I’m a clown 😭

11. What's one new thing you learned this year?

I don’t know exactly how I learned it, or if it’s considered learning per se but I always carried a lot of internalised homophobia with me for like years on end but I’ve learned to fully embrace it and be okay with being gay, also with the help of my wonderful therapist <3 like at some point this year it just clicked, I can’t pinpoint it. So I guess what I learned is love and embrace yourself the way you are and don’t put unnecessary stones in your path yourself. (Of course I realise in practice it’s not that easy.) Is this too deep?

17. What would you tell the you from the beginning of this year?

It’s gonna be shit, but you’re gonna get through it and you’re gonna get the help you need and deserve to get better and you will learn how to get better and manage your triggers and there’s going to be many good things too.

…one album: The Anastasia musical purely because I’ve been listening to it the entire goddamn year without fail so I’d be a fake if I did not put it here.

…one song: “I’ve no more fucks to give” by Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq. and I don’t mean this in a negative way at all. Just that at some point I stopped caring less about things I couldn’t control, and that I learned to accept it (I still struggle with it but way less than before). It’s a very humorous song and a whole vibe, highly recommend lol

One song lyric: “you can reclaim your crown” from King by Lauren Aquilina. The song is very self explanatory so I’m not going to also because I’m too selfconscious talking about that here lol

7. What project did you work the hardest on this year?

My fic safe and warm. I started planning it in March and am 60k in now with no end in sight, I’ve drawn multiple maps, multiple family trees, and written multiple outlines and character backgrounds that took me a lot of time.

7. What would you like to tell or ask your future self one year from now?

I would tell my future self that I’m proud of them for holding on. I’ve actually been sending myself emails to the future on my birthday each year to receive on my next birthday where I tell myself exactly that. Thank you for holding on to life. And I’d ask my future self if I’ll be okay. If the answer is yes, great. If the answer is no, well that would only mean that I’d have to work on myself for a little longer. And that’s okay, because we’re all a work in progress.

still can’t believe this time last year, we were so blissfully unaware of what was to come

i would love to believe otherwise but i don’t think we’d ever able return to the february of 2020.

sometimes, increasingly nowadays as the sine wave of hope begins to go down yet again, i really wish i had lived more, laughed more, hugged more and loved more.

i hate feeling scared and anxious all the time. i hate this constant pain, this pit in my stomach, the headlines, the people turned into mere statistical numbers. i hate missing the times i know will never come back the same way again.

on most days i am okay, i try not to think, not to think at all because thinking rattles in the reality and i hate the reality we’re living in.

living. huh, no we’re just trying to survive, pass each day somehow. make it through as we take a deep breath for the millionth time in the last one year, trying to quell our sadness and despair into numbness just so we can focus on surviving. staying alive.

i want to go against this thinking part of my brain and make myself believe that this will eventually end. it has to right? i don’t want to survive this gift of life. i want to live. really live. and be happy, be healthy and be safe. me, you and this whole universe.

alive. once again. i hope we live again soon. that’s all we have at the end of the day, hope. even if it dims and flickers.

i struggle to talk about myself a lot i’m ngl but i’ll try my best! so i’m a psychology student, i’ve studied psychology by choice at school since i was 14 so psychology is something i’m really passionate about however, i’ve always wanted to be an actress (didn’t go far with this, joined an acting academy for 3 years and then left because of my stage fright). i also really love dancing, i’ve been dancing since i was idk maybe 7 however 4 years ago i had to drop it because of health problems :/ (i still dance at home, always learning kpop choreographies).

idk if it helps but i’m an entp, 4w5. i’m actually really quiet until you get to know me. kinda lazy i’m ngl. really sarcastic, i bully all my friends. hate routines. hot and mysterious ✨😩 LMAOOO. i wouldn’t say i’m mean but i wouldn’t say i’m kind either, i wouldn’t say i’m anything actually, i’m everything and nothing at the same time. love analysing and learning (i loved chemistry and biology sm i’m so sad i couldn’t continue studying it). i like learning new languages but i have a habit of starting things and then not finishing them (just like this account) so i just know the basics of many languages. i spend most of my time watching cooking channels, kdramas and anime. love plants, animals (dinos <3), music and art and fashion. afternoon routine: camomile, book and classical music (i like to simulate a rich life even though i’m very much broke). into astrology and astronomy. again, idk if this helps, but my biggest kins are oikawa and gojo lolololol

This might be surprising, but I think Soobin would appreciate some adventure in his life, even if that adventure is a person. You very much seem like an adventure, and you seem to contradict yourself a lot lol and I think Soobin would be both perplexed and intrigued by this. Can't say I see things being too long-term, but I think y'all would have a fantastic impact on each other's lives.

Soobin would ask you to recite, in detail, the most fascinating psychology experiments AND THEIR RESULTS. And then he would prob cry when you show him videos of the monkeys and the iron mom vs cloth mom and of the babies crying when the adult figure made no facial expression big sad (I tanked AP Psych in high school whats up).

Soobin would be able to open up and try more things because of you, and you would be able to find comfort in someone who can keep up and wants to learn everything about you, even if you think there's too much. If you bully him he will sulk until you give him a hug or whatever but his friends will love you bc you can all make fun of and love Soobin at the same time. Overall big chaotic uwu.

ATEEZ: Seonghwa

Seonghwa would LOVE. to take care of you lmfao like if he could organize your schedule for you and help you out (even if you hate routine but then you also have an afternoon routine so explain THAT /j) that would be a big nut for him. I think a chaotic partner would balance him out a lot because he's so freaking weird about cleanliness and organization that when it comes to his personal life, MANS JUST WANTS TO LET LOOSE SOMETIMES OKAY even if that means going to a biology museum with you (I am not smart okay idk where biologists go).

Knowing you, he would DEFINITELY take you out for a night on the town, bar-hopping and dancing everywhere. He would ask you questions about psychology, sometimes really profound but also sometimes dumb like

You: Being a neat freak isn't synonymous with OCD-

Seonghwa: DID YOU JUST CALL ME A FREAK WOW I THOUGHT WE WERE COOL

He would mess with you a lot lol and when you roast him it would be hilarious bc he would just get that LOOK on his face yk that look when Woosan teases him and you just know he's gonna get you back and it's a cycle and you guys laugh and laugh and take a nap.

Overall funny as shit relationship that is also very supportive and fun.
