Crushing on Luke

- Gloria started inviting you over more once she saw much affectionate Luke was when it came to you

- She was your go to person to talk to when it came to the kids (and Stella)

- Then puberty hit, and Claire was terrified of you two being like her and Phil, but she forgot you have a head on your shoulders

- It didn’t hit that you two were a lot smarter than Phil and her until she saw how thoughtful he was with you

- Luke never rushed you over anything

- Even if he wanted to try and explore (in more ways than one) he was always respectful of you and your choices

- You didn’t even know he liked you until he invited you over to one of the family parties

- The new guy at school (who became friends with Luke and Manny) lied about wanting to go out so he could date your (female) best friend

- You were bummed out and wanted to put on a brave face

- One pretty much everyone but Jay picked up one

- You hid in the backyard, knowing no one would disturb you out here until someone did

He knocked your knee with his. “Why are you so upset over what this one guy did?”

You shrug.

“Come on, you can tell me, you know.”

You sigh, rubbing your face, “I- he- he was- I thought- you know,” you push yourself upright. “I don’t even know why I’m so upset. It’s not like I think he’s the only guy who’s ever going to like me or anything.”

You push yourself off the pool chair and head for the back gate. “I’m gonna go wait out front for my mom.”

He grabs your arm, “don’t go.”

You pout, “I’m not very much fun to be around, Luke. I don’t want to be the reason everyone’s sad.”

“You won’t.”

“Luke, just-”

He stands in front of you, straightening his posture to be at his full height. “You’re not leaving when you’re sad.”

You furrow your brows, “when’d you get so tall?”

“That’s all you have to say?”

“I- your-” you lightly shove him away and make your way around the chairs. “Your boy pheromones are messing with my head.”

“Boy pheromones?”

You scoff, “yeah, now I’m leaving annoyed.” You grab your phone. “Move.”

He shakes his head. “Nope.” He stops in front of you, cupping your cheeks. “I’m not letting you leave without this.”

“What?” Your eyes widen at the sensation of his lips on yours.

- Claire smacks Phil’s arm, who whines at the stinging with a smile on his face

- Gloria and Cam lets quiet, “aws” at the sight

- Mitch, Hayley, and Alex smile at the sight

- Jay stands there, shaking his head, remembering when he was young and pulls Gloria closer

- Joe and Manny criticize what they would have done differently

- You two pull apart, both red in the cheeks

You giggle, resting your head on his shoulder “Why are you laughing?”

“Your family just watched our first kiss.”

“Technically our second.”

You poke his stomach, earning a flinch reaction from him. “Shut up.”

Tony: Are you seeing this? We are making every green light, and we don’t have to speed. The system works!

Peter: Mr. Stark?

Tony: I know, I went a little fast back there. But really, 40 is the same as 35

Peter: You say that a lot

I feel like sitcoms from the Golden Age (2000s and early 2010s) would often make too much fun of autistic people. Even the sitcoms that are my favourites, such as Brooklyn Nine Nine and Modern Family are quite harsh (don't get me wrong, they're still some of the greatest ones) and would only have main characters with traits of ADHD (such as Luke and Phil from Modern Family and Jake from B99), which is great, but never autistic ones. Characters with autistic traits would often get made fun for their traits.

What I think Community did waaaay better than any of them is that they have a canonically autistic main character and his autistic traits are embraced. Literally no one makes fun of Abed (the autistic character) except for that 1 time Jeff says he has "Asperger's" as an insult. Other than that none of the main characters ridicule Abed for his autism and treat him with respect and as a regular human being.

What I also like is that they're not acting like Abed hasn't struggled at all. They don't act like autistic people never suffer. Abed still has been bullied. Some people still call him weird and so on. However Abed has found his people. He has his found family that love him and I think it's pretty big and amazing that a show made in 2009 went this far.

Other than that Community also has a character with ADHD traits (Troy, maybe someone else too) and has PLENTY of LGBT+ content. I would definitely recommend it.

Everyone talks about Alex being gay in Modern Family (which, don’t get me wrong, I totally agree with), but no one talks about Haley and Luke being CANONICALLY bi…

There’s an entire episode where the family is boating, and Luke and Haley see a hot person, but can’t immediately clock their gender… and both of them were essentially like “Actually, I don’t care, I call dibs.” And spent the WHOLE EPISODE trying to find this person to shoot their shot.

If that isn’t bi panic…

Meeting Luke Dunphy Headcanon

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- You’ve known each other since you were kids

- You defended him from bully’s (by throwing mud at them)

- He shared his lunch with you after

- If someone was trying to mess with you, he’d defend “your honor” (throwing mud works many wonders and not just for the skin)

- Neither of you talked outside of school until your mom ran into Claire at the grocery store

- She invited you and your mom over for dinner after the ladies chatted

- Claire found out your mom was raising you on her own and genuinely liked her

- She could see herself being friends with your mom and wanted Luke to make more friends (slightly hoping you’d have an impact on her girls too)

- Haley and Alex are nice enough to not completely ignore you especially if you wear something cute and actually do your homework

- Phil tries way too hard but makes your mom and you feel better about coming over (you two were very hesitant)

- Claire gets more frazzled throughout the night, feeling as though everything is going wrong (which it kinda is but it’s manageable)

- Luke didn’t come home until dinner was almost done getting ready when he noticed you on the couch, playing video games almost beating his high score

- It took him a minute to recognize you

“What are you doing here?”

“Hanging out. What are you doing?”

“I’m- this is my house. I’m doing whatever I want.” He turns, “you beat my high score, that took me months to get to.”

You shrug, “it was easy.”

- A little part of his heart died and was revived that day (he didn’t find out why until he asked you out)

- Phil always wanted you two to get together after that even if it made him sad (thinking about his only boy growing up)

- Haley thought you were weird for wanting to spend time with her brother even if you did have a fashion sense

- Alex was concerned you were on the same level of intelligence as Luke but when she sat down and talked you, she realized you’re not as dumb as she thought

- Claire was worried you wouldn’t want to come around because of the chaos her entire family brings but when she saw how you were with Luke, she was less worried

- You were always invited by his family to come hangout when they did family gatherings (either by Cam or Phil because they loved you and occasionally Gloria)
