After Jack fell from his horse in fading Moonwood Mill, he found himself in another realm - at the remnants of a broken bridge - alone...

What a strange place.

Jack walked away from the broken bridge to find Kiyoshi - or at least another way back. And then Lunatic found him... Lunatic, of all creatures... Jack: "Go away! You already caused me enough trouble!"

But Lunatic trailed after Jack and Little Goat joined them. They reached a homely abode where an old man yelled at the weeds and the bugs that are threatening his garden...

Jack: "Good day! I lost my way. Can you tell me how to get out of here?" Old man: "Sure, after you helped me with the garden."

And so Jack and Little Goat got to work.

Old man: "You're a good boy. Thank you." And in the background the garden is already overgrowing with weeds again. Just like the hassles in life. If you move one out of the way, three others are already waiting in line to bother you...

Old man: "You must be hungry after working so hard. But unfortunately I have nothing to offer. My garden, you know." Jack: "Don't worry. We could eat the horse?"

Old man: "Hm that would be a waste. But thank you for your generous offering! I'm not that hungry anyway. What about eating the goat instead?" Jack: "What? Are you crazy? No one lays hands on my sweet Little Goat!" And that was when Kiyoshi found them!

Kiyoshi bowed deeply: "Master Kōjin! Don't kill him. He wasn't aware of who you are." (Kōjin is the deity Kiyoshi and Dtui serve after he rescued them from their execution. Kōjin is the Japanese kami (god) of fire, the hearth and the kitchen. He is literally the god of the stove. He represents violent forces that are turned toward the betterment of humankind. And he is also considered a deity of uncertain temper.)

Kiyoshi: "Gods Jack..." Jack: "I didn't mean to yell at him. I was frightened and tired - and hungry..."

Kōjin: "Boys - don't worry."

Kiyoshi: "Don't worry? What does that mean? You are not going to kill him?"

Kōjin laughed: "I mean: don't worry. Like, don't worry. It will all be well in the end. We are watching over you."

Kōjin: "Now go. I paved a path for you."

Kiyoshi: "Close your eyes. Don't you dare open them again until I tell you so. No matter what happens." Jack: "Ok. I won't open them again until you tell me so. I promise."

TMI: Kōjin was played by Kesuke, who also played Albert, the servant of DEATH and the guide of Jack when he was in his coma (and a few other roles ^^')

I’m just now getting into the Sun and Moon show lore ( I got into it a few months ago ) , and then I looked back on my old hyperfixations and-

Do you think Dr. Seward cares about you? Like as if he would prefer not to harm you. Like kinda in a weird friendship way. Where he’s your superior but he maybe doesn’t want to be.

Considering what he told me in my previous entry? No.

Dr. Seward does not come off as somebody who holds care in their heart for me. To him, I am… interesting. Yes, it is not care that drives him, but interest.

He interacts with me like I'm a puzzle for him to solve. There is always something driving his questions, something that he wants to prove to himself or to me. At times I become aware of what results he desires, and purposefully steer the conversation away from it. The disappointment on his face is worth it. When I prove to be difficult, as such, he does as any man with a plaything would, and either gives up on me or brutes his way to the solution.

Perhaps my doctor would prefer not to harm me, and you're correct, but that does not change the fact that he has threatened it and acted upon it. In his own professional way, of course. He does not strike me as the type who'd get into a physical fight, at least not for enjoyment. I would not try to get into a brawl with him to test that hypothesis, because I am aware there are far worst things he could do to me than hit me back.

We are not friends, in any way. I have shared plenty of mundane moments with him, of course! We've walked the gardens, talked about simple things, and even had a brandy once. Still, I do not see him as my friend, and I am awfully certain that he does not see me as one. He is my doctor, and I am his patient.

What would that say about him? If he befriended a "madman"? Surely the man would like to keep his sanity and his power. If I was suddenly his friend, then what'd make him better than the rest of the patients? He'd be labeled as mad, after all, wouldn't he!

It would benefit me if Seward did truly care about me, like you're suggesting. I would be able to do much more. However, I cannot see the doctor caring for me any more than I care for my pets.

He is pleasant at times. If he was always unpleasant then I wouldn't try to appeal to him. No, he can be reasonable- or, that is, persuaded. I can play along to his fantasy that he is the genius doctor that is getting to the core of me. I can play along to his desire of feeling like God. I can, if it gets me what I want: lives, more time outside, extra meals, some privacy, and such. In return, he gets what he wants: me.

I am his favourite patient, after all.

I am his favourite, not out of care, but what I assume to be madness. I have intrigued Dr. Seward in a way that I hadn't intended to. Am I so unlike the common madman? Are my desires that complex? Something draws him to me, and if he wasn't as stubborn as he is, he'd encourage my plots for the sake of his sciences.

There, is that what you wanted to hear? Me being kind about him? Am I allowed to be honest now, Anonymous stranger?

Seward makes me feel like I'm some new specimen, to be put under a microscope and be examined. To be pricked and prodded at, until he's satisfied or I lash out. Though, even that might please him.

I can feel his eyes bore into me when I answer his blasted questions, as if they're trying to look into my very soul. It makes me want to tear my skin off. He asks and stares, and does his awful tests, and administers medication to me that - half the time - I don't even know the name of. I tell you, he thinks he's better than me!! He must think so, they all do.

Once again, my beloved Don.

We first "meet" Don at the factory gates with all the other men hoping to be picked for the scant number of jobs that day. As per his usual, he's silent, he's at the back, he's separate. But the most impactful thing about Don, the thing that truly silently demonstrates him as "important", as "separate", as "more than just another in the crowd", is that he is literally the only man without a hat

A sea of desperate, hopeful men. Our eye should, and does, get pulled to our lead, to Joe up front. But, soft! what stroke through yonder crowd breaks? It is the east, and Don is the sun.

There's Don, at the back, instantly noticeable and noticed because he's different. He stands out. Because he's not in a hat.

Instantly, whether you're brain registers it fully or not until later when the camera focuses on him, this man, this hatless man is special. He's not just another face in the crowd, he's here, and different, for a reason. Viewers might not even know his name, or at least his last name, for another twenty minutes, but he's someone.

I should mention I have a chest infection and a fever, so I've not slept in days and can't remember what breathing is so I might be insane at this juncture. But hey, it's giving some interesting emotional disturbance to my fic writing!

First of all, there isn’t a lot of great GIFing opportunity in this episode, so please enjoy this photo I took of a rock that reminded me of the ridiculous masks they wear in the opening.

Second, This feels like the first time Teal'c ever experienced a compliment. He looks really stunned, but he does know the appropriate response.

Dude to Teal'c: "Good drawing." Teal'c: "Thank you."

Third, Sam and Daniel talking about her ex with Jack bringing up the rear is such a good use of the visual media to add subtext to a conversation, and anyone who says they weren't trying to set up Sam/Jack until late season 2 or 3 is a damn liar.

Daniel: "Well, what did you see in him?" Sam: "I don't know, I guess I've always had a soft spot for the lunatic fringe." Camera: Looks dead on at Jack. Sam: "He was... he was charming." Daniel: "Well, that's good. Charming is good." Sam: "I don't know. I should be more surprised by this than I am, but I'm not. He had this in him, Daniel. Too many years of black ops." Daniel: "Well, that's typical of our government's evaluation of soldiers. The crazier they are, the more extreme the situation they seem to be put into." Daniel: Looks back at Jack who is studiously attempting to not look like he's listening.

Fourth, Sam is the "healer of the emotionally wounded," and Jonas Hanson was her one failure. Who were her prior successes???

Fifth, this is character development episode for Sam. And while I think it’s interesting to see the kind of person she’s attracted to, I think it’s more interesting to see that she feels pressured to be LIKE the kind of person she’s attracted to. The closing scene when O’Neill (who has been designated as one of the lunatic fringe by Daniel’s askance glance) tells her that she doesn’t need to be like the crazy dudes is a solidification of her right to be smart, nerdy Sam. He gives her permission to lean in to who she is, and ignore the self-imposed pressure to be something she isn’t.
