Manuel wasn’t around for much of Luca’s early childhood, considering Luca was the product of his international love affair with his mother. Manny dropped in a few times, bearing presents and gifts, but it was mostly through Rocio’s storytelling that he became acquainted with his father. After Rocio passed, he and his sisters were tossed into his family dynamic in Spain. Luca is respectful toward Manny, but that is about as much acknowledgement that the older gentleman gets from his son. He heeds his father’s advice, taking any of his practical experience to use toward his future, but the two have a distant relationship. He hasn’t seen his father in about two years now.

rocio torres. mother. deceased. 41. scorpio.

Rocio was a rather bitter woman, but she cared for her children, and she wished to be a good mother despite all her shortcomings. She fell in love with the wrong man at a ridiculously young age, and held onto the notion he loved her back, never knowing he was married to a woman in another country. She raised Luca in hopes that Manny would return and they’re resume being a family together, though that never happened. She passed away when Luca was nine, and although he would never say it aloud, he misses her dearly. Despite all her flaws, Luca had always played the role of her protector, and he was devastated when she passed.

ximena torres. half-sister. 18. capricorn.

Unlike the other Torres siblings, Ximena is a no-bullshit, wry student with a chip on her shoulder. She has a big attitude, one which Luca was constantly undermining or poking fun at as they grew up. She chose to stay in Spain, where she is currently attending college for business.

esmeralda torres. half-sister. 19. aries. @cfesmes

Esme is practically Luca’s other half. The two grew up extremely close, and despite their different values, he trusts Esmeralda in a way he simply won’t allow himself to do with a friend. She is wild and sharp and reckless, but he loves her to pieces and would do nearly anything to make sure she was happy and safe.

elena valiente. step mother. 42. capricorn.

Elena was a young, influential girl when Manny proposed to her for her family’s vast wealth. She is privileged and snooty, always preaching about her faith and the Torres’ sins. While she is vindictive and jealous, she desperately abides by the wifely role of obedience, afraid that Manny would move on to one of his other suitors if she pushed him too far. Still, she made it a point to make the Torres’ children a living hell, though most of it went under her husband’s nose.

isabela valiente. half-sister. 19. pisces.

Isabela is the most similar to Luca in terms of demeanor; she is lackadaisical and mellow, never having much to say besides a one liner here and there. She is an avid poet, and she constantly sends Luca cheesy poetry that he reads despite his lack of interest.

cristiano valiente. half-brother. 19. pisces.

Cristiano knows he’s desirable, and he owns it as much as he can. He is self-assured and charming, constantly using his demure personality to swoon suitors off their feet. He is noncommital and a tad insensitive, though his innately soft and romantic nature often lets his go overlooked.

miguel valiente. half-brother. deceased. 23. gemini.

Miguel was the most adaptable of all of Manny’s children. He and his father were close, though Miguel was self-aware enough to notice his father’s faults and even push the man to do better. He was goal-oriented and firm, though he was always patient with Luca, accepting him long before the other Valiente’s were able to. He had a dry sense of humor, though his temperament was something Luca respected. He was shot and killed about three years ago, and it had left Luca in a state of shock, taking him back to the unexpected and tragic loss of his mother as a child.

The most intellectual of Luca’s siblings, Angel is a lot more reserved than the others. He has the same aloof attitude as his siblings, but his focus is a lot more centered on his spiritual journey and intellectual growth than anything. He does not make an attempt to appeal to others, disinterested in most social interactions. Angel is incredibly self-disciplined, and practically all of his free time is used in an intentional attempt to elevate himself.

enzo. father. 46. gemini.

Enzo is a tough, honorable man who values tradition and reputation. Maintaining the de Rosa legacy has been his sole goal since taking over his father’s inheritance. It became clear relatively quickly that his youngest son would struggle to follow his assigned role, especially when Marcello began getting into serious scuffles as young as eight years old. For the most part, Marcello abides by his father’s demands and expectations, although he is the only member of his family that actively stands up to his father. They are at constant odds, with Marcello stuck in a position of wanting to impress and also surpass his father. The tension between them has since then worsened once Enzo made the decision to send him away so that he’d be unable to taint their family image in Spain. Marcello has a deep, violent hatred for his father, but he does not plan to ever voice his disdain lest he lose favor in the de Rosa lineage.

Giorgia is the eldest daughter to a ridiculously wealthy parliament member in Italy, and she was married off to Enzo to further her family’s political ties. She is a strong woman, and she operates on duty and compassion. Giorgia is refined and regal, displaying her strength not through yelled words or showy business deals like her husband, but through small acts of control. She is a quiet, stoic woman, who has been groomed to marry a rich, powerful man all her life. Although she is not the most emotionally available mother, she actively played a role in raising her children, unlike Enzo. Giorgia is largely discontent with her life, married to a cruel man and she often plays Marcello’s savior in crises. She sticks up for Marcello even when he’s in the wrong, though this adds a constant tension to her relationship with Enzo. Marcello admires his mother, simply because she has always been good and patient with him. While he can not readily see how his mother sacrifices and suffers to protect her son, he is a mama’s boy at heart.

Growing up, the two boys always had an intense rivalry between each other.  Emiliano was beefy and exceptionally bigger than Marcello, and he seemed to thrive in the spotlight while Marcello drowned trying to stay afloat. Emiliano grew up being their father’s golden boy, and he never let Marcello forget Enzo’s favoritism. The boys would often physically fight, and neither was keen to holding back on the other. His brother is a manipulative man who oozes natural charisma, and he is the heir to the pharmaceutical company Enzo built from his father’s legacy. Unlike Marcello, Emiliano’s anger is subtle despite being almost as hot-headed as his younger brother. He is more diplomatic than Marcello, often relying on his wit to get what he wants. He lives in Paris now, engaged to a Cambodian princess, but every once in the while will pop into Marcello’s life to gloat.

Benedetta is the beloved baby sister of the de Rosa family, and she mostly uses her title to maintain the peace within her family. While her parents failed to notice their sons’ feud, little Benedetta was always quick to step in between, even if it lead to her only getting shoved out of the way. For most of her life, she was sickly and frail, leading her parents to grow extremely paranoid with her safety. As such, she is sheltered from most of the world, though Marcello finds her innocence endearing. She is playful and naive, her father choosing to completely shelter her as his only daughter. Marcello has a deep love for his sister, often coming to her as his confidant and good conscience. These two are the closest out of the entire de Rosa family, largely due to them being the most affectionate of their family members.

Francesca is the middle daughter of the Bellucci line, and she is the most dignified of the three sisters. While Giorgia has a yielding personality to the authorities of her life, Francesca prefers to be the authority. Although she did not escape her father’s insistence on marrying a well-connected diplomat, she is vocal about her dismay and irritation with her husband. She is stern and harsh, oftentimes criticizing Marcello for his peculiar behavior. She is currently a lawyer, and she is a very viscous one at that. Francesca has a lot of qualms about Marcello, considering how untamable the boy is. Although, she is quick to follow her sister’s beckoning and raise to her nephew’s defense.

Being the youngest of the tight-nit group of sisters, Serafina is often the mediator between her older sisters’ disputes. Although she has a tendency to be ditzy, she has a good-heart and values family above everything else. Fortunately for her, her husband is an acclaimed businessman and philanthropist who she had the pleasure of knowing beforehand. Sera bears an unfathomable amount of love for her sisters’ children, specifically Marcello because of how broken the boy is. She often checks up on him, offering advice and always heeding Marcello to be smart about his decisions. While she may not agree with how the younger boy handles his issues, Sera is the most gentle and understanding of her sisters.

Daughter to Francesca and a wealthy, British politician, Alessia is conniving and spoiled. She is fiery and hot-headed, quick to butt heads with Marcello anytime she sees him. She likes to push his buttons, annoying him until he lets out an outburst and gets scolded by the matriarchs of the family. Alessia is incredibly close with Marcello’s sister, Benedetta, much to his dismay. He often accuses the girl of being a bad influence, and they often bicker over who Benny is closest to.

- ruby’s mother adores ruby, but she kind of just wishes she would act more like a normal teenager. jacinda would rather see ruby happy at a party than stressing over schoolwork. of course, she wants her to have a good career and all of that, but not at the cost of her mental health. she tries to steer her in the vague direction of normal 18 year old behaviour, but ruby takes all of these as “stupid” suggestions and subsequently pays no attention. sometimes ruby ends up accidentally hurting her mother’s feelings as a result, but she remains unaware.

- ruby’s definitely a daddy’s girl. she grew up helping her father repair cars and that’s what kicked off her love for stem in the first place. samuel is intensely proud of her, although like her mother he wishes she would stress less and hold herself to more reasonable standards, but as long as ruby is content, he’s happy. and he appreciates her desire to create the type of life she wants to live, even if he sometimes dislikes seeing her so disappointed in herself.

- selina is the child from ruby’s mother’s first marriage, and she didn’t grow up particularly close to ruby due to her splitting her time between her mother and her father, and due to the age gap between them. selina attended art school and now works for a nonprofit and lives at home with ruby’s parents, which can sometimes cause tension between the two - selina feels that ruby doesn’t take her job or life seriously, and ruby tires easily of selina teasing her about having “no life” and being a perpetual nerd. they bicker on and off whenever they are home together.

question 1

What is your character’s zodiac sign?

Nova is a Scorpio. 

question 2

List at least 3 negative traits that your character’s sign has. Does your character exhibit these traits? Give examples or explain a time when they have behaved in this way.

JEALOUS 

Nova will press her lips together and lie through her teeth that she never gets jealous because obviously she is perfect & no one is better than she, so once you’ve had her, you have had the best, but... yeah, no, she is 1000% full of shit. If jealousy is a green monster, then she is the freaking Hulk. The perfect example of this, perhaps, is how she harbors so much resentment toward Jack for doing the exact thing she did to him. She has the tendency to be possessive, doesn’t like sharing and so, she absolutely was jealous of the girl that he slept with whilst they were still together. When all of the attention is on her and someone attempts to take that spotlight and is actually successful, she gets furious-- because again, sharing anything is probably her least favorite thing in the world and if someone shows any signs of being better than her, it makes her feel vulnerable and weak because that stupid green giant rears its ugly head and it makes her want to hit something. Or someone.

OBSESSIVE

She has the ability to be obsessive, absolutely. She isn’t always, but there are these rare instances where she obsesses over certain aspects of her life. Particularly her schoolwork. She isn’t the most focused student, but she’s also a pre-law major and knows the importance of not ever failing, so when she has a big test coming up or a detailed essay to write, she obsesses to the point of undoubtedly annoying everyone around her. This mostly ties into her tendency to be a perfectionist, who is always striving to be better than anyone and everyone. Also, the idea that she could potentially disappoint her mother freaks her out more than she is willing to admit to anyone and that is also a huge driving force behind her getting a bit too focused at certain times. 

UNYIELDING 

Novalee is not the type to back down from anyone or anything. This stems mostly from her ability to be stubborn, but also from her belief that she has to be the best at everything that she does. She feels a lot of pressure from her family ( more specifically, her step father ) to be this perfect person who doesn’t fail at anything and that very much is a driving force behind her refusal to give in to anyone or anything. That, and giving up is not in her DNA, given that her birth father was an incredibly successful businessman, one who came from old money but also who built his own empire from the ground up. And then there is her mother, who is a successful prosecutor who has never lost a single case and so... yeah, that is a lot of pressure and explains a lot of why she just will not yield to a single soul, whether she is the one in the right.

LOYAL

While Nova is not in the habit of attaching herself to others often or easily, in those rare instances that she does find herself getting close to someone, she will never, ever betray them.  ( With the exception of romantic relationships, because she is so fearful of the ‘l’ word that she’ll literally do anything to sabotage a relationship if she feels that she’s getting too close. ) She is that friend who will walk to the ends of the earth for you, no questions asked. An example of this is that she’s had the same best friend since childhood, one who was a lot less blessed than she was growing up but Nova stayed loyal to her despite her friend’s family’s run of bad luck ( this is just a hc of course and maybe a potential wanted connection, we’ll see ). While money is incredibly important to her, if she meets someone that she vibes with, she doesn’t care if they start off poor or end up losing everything, she’ll stick with them through thick and thin. 

PASSIONATE

She is one thousand percent passionate. She’ll talk about swimming any time that she is presented with the opportunity. Same goes for photography. Writing and music, too ( these are passions not many know about but if someone is close to her, they know that she loves to write & play music and she will literally not shut up about it, it’s kind of obnoxious ). She’s also incredibly passionate about pursuing a law degree. Becoming an attorney has been her dream since she was little, though many find that difficult to believe because it isn’t the typical dream of a little kid, but something about seeing her mother in her suits and hearing her talk so much about how she loved helping people and assisting in putting away those who were actually guilty had always made Nova’s eyes light up with curiosity and fascination. Catch her during one of those rare moments where she likes talking about school and she won’t shut up about how excited she is to one day being standing in a courtroom, helping people the same as her mother always has.

RESOURCEFUL 

For the most part, Nova can be resourceful. She’s clever and quick on her feet. She doesn’t really allow obstacles to stand in her way and does a decent job of getting herself out of otherwise incredibly difficult situations. Sometimes this can be attributed to her ability to bullshit her way out of most of the trouble she nearly gets herself into, but even in situations she gets herself into that aren’t a result of her reckless behavior, she’s more than capable of utilizing her intelligence to find a way out of something.

If there are any specific opposing traits that your character has which isn’t typical for their sign, what traits are they? (i.e. Their sign says they’re stubborn but they’re actually a pushover) Give examples of this opposing behaviour.

There aren’t any.

Which zodiac sign associated traits does your character exhibit that would be obvious to others? Which traits aren’t as obvious?

The most obvious is that she is loyal, at least to those who know her. Also, that she is jealous. She doesn’t really hide her jealousy all that well so if she is in a situation where she feels such a way, it’ll be obvious to even those who have never talked to her a day in their life. The least obvious, perhaps, is that she is passionate. She tends to come off like she doesn’t care all that much about anything, when that couldn’t really be farther from the truth.

Overall, do you find that your character’s sign suits their personality? Why or why not?

Absolutely. The in a nutshell section pretty much sums up Nova as a person, with how it describes the sign as a sign of extremes and intensity. And that is pretty much her at face value at least more than half of the time.

Which aspect under the “In a Nutshell” header do you think describes your character the best? The least? 

The part that fits her the most is that there is always more to them than meets the eye. The biggest mistake anyone can make when meeting Nova/talking to her is assuming that there isn’t more to her than what she presents to the world. For example: she has the ability to dumb herself down, but she is incredibly intelligent. She complains about school and acts like studying is a chore, but she studies more often than not and has perfect grades. She doesn’t always stop to think before she gets herself into a situation, but when it pertains to making a decision regarding her future, she weighs the pros and cons, takes the time to think it through. As for what suits her the least, it’s probably that they’re controlling. She does like to control certain aspects and sometimes other people, but never to an extreme and she does have her limits.

Which aspect under the “Deep Inside” header do you think describes your character the best? The least?

Perhaps the part that fits her the most under the deep inside section is that scorpios are weary of trusting others. Nova, whether she is aware or not, always always has her guard up. Even when she’s around those few that she has let get close to her, there is a part of her that still has a bit of a wall around her, one that isn’t likely to be knocked down by even the people that she loves the most. She’s incredibly fearful of giving anyone the power to hurt her. The part that fits her the least is that they are interested in the occult and paranormal. While she is open to pretty much anything, neither of those are anything she’s ever taken a particular interest in herself. She also isn’t big on conspiracy theories and the only interest she has in unknown mysteries is all related to having fun and her tendency to like to attempt to solve mysteries out of boredom.

Read the “How to Attract” header of your character’s sign. Do you find this accurately describes what would draw them to another person?

Absolutely, minus the part of not teasing them because Nova very much enjoys people who can match her energy. However, she does prefer those who are real with her, aren’t afraid to be themselves around her. She likes those who like excitement as much as she, don’t mind changing plans to do something entirely spontaneous. She most definitely does not enjoy being controlled, so that is one hundred percent accurate. She likes to be the one taking control and being okay with that is one way to absolutely guarantee her interest and even perhaps hold it for longer than a few minutes. She’s drawn to people who are as passionate and ambitious as she is, but also those who don’t take life too seriously and know how to let their hair down, so to speak.

Did you already have a birthday chosen for your character? Had you considered the sign associated with that date? If you don’t find that your character fits the descriptions of their sign, which of the other signs do you think they’re like

When writing Nova’s intro, I intentionally chose her birthday based on it making her a scorpio because of the type of personality I imagined her to have. She shares some traits with aquarius and maybe leo, but scorpio suits her the best.

Are there any additional descriptions you found in your reading that stand out to you or also describe your character well? What were they?

The part under scorpios and business, about them liking to be in power positions, that is certainly true for Nova. Part of the reason she wants to be a lawyer is because she feels like it will give her some power over someone else’s life ( not necessarily in a bad way, given that she wants to be a defense attorney and help those who aren’t capable of helping themselves ). Under the part about what it is like to date a scorpio woman, it’s true that Nova presents the right amount of challenge with the right amount of rewards. She might be complicated, give someone a hard time, but she’ll make it all worth it in the end. Under scorpios and friendships, it’s true that she is incredibly loyal, but also that she has a good memory-- once you betray her trust, you will not get it back because she can and will hold a grudge for the rest of her life. However, as it says, she will absolutely not make a promise that she is aware she won’t be able to keep; she actually doesn’t make promises ever, for that very reason.

caroline. mother. 38. libra.

Caroline never got much of a chance to be a mother, as her health quickly worsened following Elliott’s birth. She is a kind, softspoken woman, who learned her compassion made her someone incredibly easy to exploit. Elli still holds a soft spot for her mother, as she was her sole caretaker for a few months prior to her being hospitalized. Fortunately, Elli still manages to visit on some occasions, though most times her mother is too weak to acknowledge her. Elli feels an enormous amount of guilt for her mother’s condition and her helplessness in the situation.

In Elli’s humble opinion, Claire tries too fucking hard. She can’t seem to comprehend Claire’s interest with her in the first place, but Elli is still wary of her adopted mother. She tends to be a bit impatient with her, though most times, she attempts to remain cordial to the older woman.

Elli all but avoids her adopted father, George. He is a stern figure, and while he is not as coddling or suffocating as Claire is, he presents a much larger threat. She attempts to remain on her best behavior around George, as her irritability was one of their main sources of conflict.

At first, Elli simply tolerated her annoying, younger adopted sibling. He was rarely around, thus he was someone she could simply erase from her memory bank. However, as he continued to visit for the holidays, Elli quickly discovered just how self-centered of an idiot Jack was. His constant need to compete with her, his stupid ass jokes, and his misplaced confidence all led Elli to grow a deep hatred for Jack. Her sole hope at Luxor is to avoid him at all costs.

acacia, mother. 43. sagittarius.

Acacia was never meant to be a mother, and she makes no attempts to pretend otherwise. She is inherently self-centered, and Rhiannon’s needs had taken away from her quality ‘me’ time. She is a well-spoken woman with a fiery attitude and a powerful death stare; she feels no qualms about manipulating her husband or daughter. Acacia is particularly critical on Rhia, although she will not lift a finger to aid her daughter. She is content overindulging on wine, doing a ridiculous amount of psychedelics, and ignoring Rhiannon’s very existence. There were only a few occasions where Rhia had dared to talk back to her mother, which lead to Acacia either hitting her or throwing her out for a few days while she cooled down. She is reckless and destructive, and she feels an entitlement to trample over anyone in her way. While she rarely ever spent time with Rhia growing up, she is certain she knows who her daughter is and what is best for her. When Acacia made a surprise visit to Luxor’s graduation, the two got into an intense argument over her authority over Rhia. Rhia proclaimed she wanted nothing to do with her mother, and the two have not spoken since.

kristoffer, father. 40. capricorn.

For most of Rhiannon’s early childhood, Kristoffer was doting and affectionate. Having met his free-spirited wife at a summer solstice festival, it did not take much convincing for him to follow her around like a lovestruck puppy. Eventually, he decided to ask Acacia to join him in his van lifestyle across Norway, and he has been under her thumb ever since. Unlike his wife, he had actually wanted children, and thus most of the care taking was done by Kristoffer. However, Rhiannon quickly realized his loyalty would always be with her mother, regardless of the circumstances. He rarely ever spoke up for Rhia, and he didn’t put up much of a fight when the blonde girl began pushing him away. He has always been an enabler for Acacia, and he was extremely ill-equipped to handle the mother-daughter feud that would ensue once Rhia hit her teens. While Kristoffer undeniably loves his daughter, Rhiannon refuses to look past the trauma he’s willingly put her through. He was dumbfounded when he discovered his daughter had run away without a trace. He accompanied Acacia to Luxor’s graduation last year in hopes of coaxing Rhia back to live with them in Colorado, though she refused and hasn’t spoken to him since.

Nikolai is a lively spirit, he is affectionate and boisterous and generous. Yrsa has hidden most of the Dahl family drama, though he is observant enough to have noticed her abhor for her older sister. In such, he made a tremendous effort to treat Rhia gently, though the effort was all but futile when they moved to the United States. He gifted Rhia her first violin at the age of eight.

Brenn is only a couple of years older than Rhia, but they rarely had any interactions growing up. Her family was relatively secluded in the community they lived in, and Brenn was a city boy with an influential family. He is calm, levelheaded, and sarcastic, much too brash for Rhia’s sensitivity. He has very limited memories of Rhia from their childhood, but he does recall the hand-sewn dresses she would wear and the flower bouquets she would make for him.

While Ahmed and Mina won’t say that they had an arranged marriage, their families introduced them with clear intentions of what was desired. They were both part of biracial families in the UK, each of them had one parent who was desperately trying to clutch to semblance of their familial history and muslim cultures. Ahmed was twenty-five and Mina was twenty when they were introduced, and before she turned twenty-three, they were married with a baby. 

NOOR & AHMED - father

Noor and Ahmed have a strained relationship, to say the least. Noor isn’t exactly the well-behaved daughter he was hoping for, the chaotic, spoiled girl who clung to her mother’s side of the family far more than she ever cared for the Khalil’s confusing to him at best, disappointing at worst. 

NOOR & MINA - mother

Noor and Mina get along much better than Noor and her father, though she still is not as close with her mother as she is with her aunts. Her mother was softer than her aunts, in a way that Noor (and Ahmed) could never quite understand, though she clearly adored them and cared for them. Noor never had much patience for it. 

FARAH & NEGIN

Because Negin and Farah were so close in age while Mina was nine years older, the two younger Hadid sisters were incredibly close. They seemed like they could communicate wordlessly sometimes, and with both of them having bad-ass careers, they were Noor’s ultimate sources of inspiration. Farah is a highly successful art dealer (and Noor’s inspiration for going into the art world), and Negin is a bad-ass lawyer, both cut throat roles that seemed like Noor’s absolute dream.

NOOR & FARAH - maternal aunt

Farah is Noor’s moral compass, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. Farah definitely holds her desires and needs - and her families - higher than anyone else’s, and often won’t consider other’s in the quest for what she wants. She is highly motivated, incredibly cold, and supremely intelligent. 

NOOR & NEGIN - maternal aunt

Negin is the light of Noor’s life and vice versa. She was always close incredibly close with the aunt that is only 11 years her senior, sometimes seeming more like sisters than aunt and niece. Negin is the one who she went to with all of her problems with when she was younger, Negin’s cool logic welcomed in contrast to Noor’s tendency to be over-dramatic. 

NOOR & NAKIA - paternal-half uncle

Nakia is Ahmed’s much younger half-brother, born when his parents separated and Ahmed’s father left the UK. Ahmed and Nakia do not get along, as Ahmed was raised in the UK by his white mother, where Nakia was raised fully muslim, creating tension between the half-brothers. Because her father is not a fan of Nakia, Noor absolutely adores him, even though she doesn’t see him that often.

Hi. Welcome. You’re probably expecting some big long character study here about Samira and Alexander Teixeira. And I’m here to tell. You’ll get it but first. Did you know there are more trees on Earth than stars in the Milkyway? Anyways lets get on with this.

Fam Bam things:

Sometimes Chaos has a way of breeding more chaos and in the case of Samira and Alexander, that was exactly what happened. Nothing about them was supposed to happen. It was the not so classic tale of a man who had been dating a woman for nearly 6 years just to knock up the first one night stand he had post his fiancee cheating on him. Neither of them felt ready by any means to raise that child but luckily for Alex, his fiancees dad had a soft spot for him. Soft enough to offer him a job that would pay well enough to take care of his new family so long as he never spoke to his daughter ever again. 

At first the offer seemed ridiculous. Alexander did not want a baby. Did not want to be told who he should and shouldn’t be with, but there was something about Samira that drew him in. That made her impossible to turn away from. So at first he took the job without saying anything. Took the job and began traveling for work, sending the money back to her to help raise a son Alex took little interest in. But as the years went on something amazing happened. A spark of magnificent magnitude took place between them and slowly but surely a romance blossomed. A love took place between two people who had no place being parents. On the night of their wedding, Samira agreed to leave with Alex for work, his parents offering to watch their grand child not knowing the plan the two had hatched. 

It’s been well over 14 years since Liam has last seen his parents. When they left, they left. Sure every once in a while there might have been a card or something but Alex and Samira had made it perfectly clear that even though they could make room for each other in their plans, he wasn’t and had never been apart of that. For whatever reason his grandparents made a point of trying to raise him to be nothing like his father, but just as Alexander had, Liam continues to disappoint. His grandparents didn’t benefit from the finances provided by Alexanders employer but they did what they could to raise him like their own. And well.. look how that worked out.

gwan ji-hoon ( gong yoo ) - age 43.  jamie kim ( yoo in na ) - age 41.  gwan yunsik ( kim min-jae ) - age 18 ( deceased )  gwan nari ( jennie kim ) - age 19. 

NARI & JAMIE - While neither of her parents were around as much as she would have liked when she was little, Nari doesn’t hold much resentment toward either of them-- in truth, she holds less resentment toward her mother than she does her father. She’s always admired her mother and how dedicated she was to her career before she retired. Even now, she admires her work ethic, aspires to be that fearless and unstoppable and not listen to the words of anyone who might attempt to discourage her from having such big dreams. Since her mother no longer is an idol/model and just runs a café in Seoul, she and Nari have gotten closer. They talk at least three times a week and there isn’t a day that goes by where her mother doesn’t text her asking if she’s okay at least once. And while Nari pretends to be bothered by this, she appreciates it more than she can put into words. 

NARI & JI-HOON - Ji-hoon and Nari have a bit of a strained relationship, to put it mildly. Since they lost Yunsik, Ji-hoon distanced himself even more from the only child that he has left. He throws himself in his work and seems too busy for his wife, as well as his daughter. She talks to him maybe once or twice a month and most messages she sends him get left on read, unless it’s one concerning money because he’s always quick to give her whatever she wants. She assumes this is because of the guilt he feels, but she often uses it to her advantage, despite the money not really making up for the fact that she doesn’t feel like she has much of a father. 

NARI & YUNSIK - Yunsik wasn’t just a brother to Nari, he was her best friend, the person that she trusted most in the world, the person who was always by her side when their parents were too busy working or touring or doing whatever else it was that kept them away. When she needed a shoulder to cry on, he was always there, through the first time she got badly hurt from falling down and her first heartbreak, etc. They were thick as thieves. He never told her that any of the dreams she had were stupid, always supported her no matter how many times she changed her mind. He was her biggest support system and would show off her artwork any chance that he got to anyone who would listen to him. The day that he died will forever remain as the worst day of her life and she doesn’t think that there will ever come a day where she doesn’t miss him terribly.

With Luxor Academy increasing the budget for on-campus counseling, as well as workshops and mental health programs, they are requiring all students to attend an initial therapy evaluation. Kenzie Horton’s Family

Mackenzie “Kenzie” Lennox Horton (Nina Dobrev) - 18 - Luxor University Student

The only child of Neil and Maggie Horton. Biologically, the daughter of Andrei Ivanov. The granddaughter of Alice Horton. Future step-daughter to Derek Price. She currently has no major. She suffers from depression. She has two cats, a striped tabby named Victra and a white cat named Sevro.

Derek Anthony Price (Eric Matsolf) - 44 - Doctor

Derek is Maggie’s fiancé. They have been dating for nearly 2 years now, though have known each other for much longer. They have worked at the same hospital for well over ten years and he pursued her for several years, but it took Maggie a while to accept his affections. He has one son from a previous marriage, Nash, who is eleven. He shares custody with his ex-wife and they get along well. Kenzie was wary of him at first, but likes him pretty well now and is happy to have him as her stepdad soon.

Margaret “Maggie” Teresa Atwood Horton (Kelly Monaco) - 42 - Nurse

Kenzie’s mother and the widow of Neil Horton. Kenzie is a product of her previous relationship with Andrei. Neil was who she leaned on as she got through all that and brought Kenzie into the world. They fell in love and got married, despite his family’s issues with it. She grew up without any good relationships with her own parents and the little family she had. She ran away when she was sixteen. She wanted to be an artist, but eventually began to study nursing and loved it, enjoying taking care of people. Neil’s parents eventually accepted her and Kenzie. He passed away five years ago on the job and it broke her heart. She is finally moving on with Derek though and excited for their life together. Maggie and Kenzie are like the best of friends, though Kenzie works hard not to disappoint her mom.

Neil Bishop Horton (Warren Christie) - Deceased - Police Officer

Neil grew up in a very affluent family and even went to Luxor himself. However, Neil was always a protective person, so he decided to enlist in the army after high school. He quickly became a high ranking Marine, though was honorably discharged after a few years due to an injury. But after he recovered, he decided to take his training and want to protect people to a new profession: police officer. He worked hard, taking the law seriously. Which is exactly what led him to Maggie, helping her out of a bad situation. And being there for her through it all made him fall in love with her and her daughter. He was there for both of them before Kenzie was even born and saw the baby as his daughter, which is why he signed the birth certificate. He didn’t care what his family said. He knew what felt right to him. Kenzie’s dad was her hero. He was always there for her and they were as close as possible. Her dad taught her to protect people, how to fight, how to survive in the wild, her love for working out and sports. He raised her to protect people but not hurt them. She is a lot like him. He died in the line of duty five years ago.

Alice Mackenzie Winston Horton (Kelly Bishop) - 65 - Heiress/Philanthropist

Alice is the mother of Neil, the former mother-in-law of Maggie, and the paternal grandmother of Kenzie. Alice grew up with money and married into it. She was born and raised to spend money, be seen in society, and sit on all sorts of boards and clubs. And she expected the same for her children, though she only had one with her husband Maxwell. She was proud of how kind and well-behaved her son was, but he didn’t seem to want the same life his parents had set out for him (taking over the family business and all). She thought he was just being rebellious when he joined the army and then became a police officer, but when he let a strange pregnant woman move in with him, she had enough. They fought constantly over Maggie and even more so when Kenzie was born and he claimed the child as his. They weren’t even at his wedding. But finally, they realized their son was too important to let this get between them, so they slowly made amends and grew to love Kenzie and Maggie. Alice truly regrets those years they were estranged, especially after Neil passed away. Her and her husband made sure to take care of Maggie and Kenzie. They paid for Kenzie’s tuition to Luxor as well as Luxor University, have gotten her a car for use at school, and a small inheritance. Alice’s husband passed away a few years after their son. She is the kind of woman who will smile while she is insulting you. She has trained Kenzie in manners and behavior in society, though she doesn’t try too hard to break the girl’s spirit. Kenzie definitely gets her stubborn nature from her grandmother.

Andrei Ivanov (Stanislav Ianevski) - Deceased

Andrei is Kenzie’s biological father. He was born to a family of Bulgarian immigrants and he was always getting into trouble. He had an anger problem and usually took it out in fights and with other people. He and Maggie started dating when she was eighteen and he was twenty-two. He definitely took advantage of Maggie’s kind nature, but after a while, he became very abusive. He took out his anger on Maggie, used her for money, sexually assaulted her, and constantly yelled and belittled her. Maggie stayed, feeling like she had nowhere else to go. Eventually, when she found out she was pregnant, she finally had the strength to leave him, especially after a very bad beating from him. He was eventually thrown into jail where he died during a prison fight. Kenzie hates the man she has never met for what he did to her mother. She also fears being anything like him.

𝓚𝓪𝓲 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓜𝓪𝓻𝓰𝓸𝓽 (kaya scodelario fc) : the only sister. the sneaky rebel. margot is one to stand up for what she believes in, say what she’s thinking and that tends to get her into a lot of trouble. she gets high behind her parents back and easily the closest person to kai in his entire family. she’s gotten herself into fights with boys in school on more than one occasion, a lot of them wanting things from her that she didn’t want to reciprocate and had problems leaving her alone — until kai stepped in.

𝓚𝓪𝓲 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓝𝓸𝓪𝓱 (nick robinson fc) : the youngest brother. the one with the heart of gold. noah is the kid who constantly is doing his best to make everyone around him happy, completely disregarding his feelings in the process. he followed kai’s footsteps to attend luxor himself, hiding in the shadows unless provoked by cheating girlfriends or a daring group of people trying to expose secrets. kai does his best to offer him advice and keep him out of trouble, thus being someone noah can really look up to.
