Mihaly's stand in, Grisha. Mihaly is a Hungarian name and I decided to have the stand in's name be Scandinavian. this rounds out the last of the throuple of Grisha, Kinetta, and Darren. Having issues with their ears but I'll figure it out. Grisha was a kid on the streets of the cygnus city counterpart until they were around thirteen years old. They'd been in and out of foster care before eventually being adopted in another city by a loving and attentive couple. They'd been friends with Ivan and Nellie since they were young. Grisha was able to keep in touch with Nellie. Lost touch with Ivan until their early twenties when they got back in touch. by Farwander breaking into Ivan's set of rooms and Ivan understandably freaking the fuck out. Grisha did tell him it wouldn't end well and figure out another way to get to Ivan. Farwander got to be smacked (affectionately) over the head because oh look. Grisha was right.

Grisha's probably the most powerful of the humans in the friend group. And the most emotionally restrained. They've been able to grow and thrive in a new situation, and is forever grateful to their adoptive parents. They've been training with a mystic, and are capable of achieving a sort of True Forme, which looks a bit like a bear. Grisha's had a crush on Kinetta and Darren for quite a long while, but wasn't ever able to follow through before Night Swan stand in's meddling and mental control. Grisha is not okay with trying to kill their two best childhood friends AND one of their crushes and love interests all in one go. They figure it out first, before anyone else. They recognize their friends' voices and unique body language. However, Night Swan never thinks to ask and Daedalus tells them not to say a word.

Strong, stoic, calm, and kind. Polite to the point of being mistaken as an ice sculpture. Used to be deeply star struck by Night Swan stand in and Daedalus. Not anymore. They put their trust and admiration in other, better role models. Such as Kim's stand in, and her actual husband, Wulfric.

can't wait to be free and take their love interests on a 'start over' date. and reconnect properly with their love interests.

TSAU!Donnie's Ninpō Explained!

The first ability Donnie unlocks is the ability to see mystic energy! Objects or people with with mystic energy has this colourful glowing aura you could call it, the more mystic energy the more brightly is glows. For example - Mikey already has a very bright aura naturally, which becomes even brighter when he is actively using magic! ..... All of this is to say, Donnie found that out the hard way when he used his mystic sight on Mikey when he was using magic and Donnie as a result got a little bit fucking blinded!

All yōkai and mutants are naturally mystic in nature, they always have a visable aura because of that. Humans are not mystic, so they don't have that aura. HOWEVER! Humans can learn how to use magic through certain means like, y'know, Ninpō for example! When a human uses magic, they do have mystic aura, but only while actively using mystic powers.

(Also Donnie totally accidentally discovered that the "teapot" had bad vibes because his mystic sight lol)

After a while Donnie is able to start making constructs out of his Ninpō. Initially however, he can't really form complex designs, it's mostly just blocks and walls, very simplistic shapes. But it turns out he can use these simpler constructs as effective shields! Which is good considering his soft shell as well as the fact that his battle shell in the AU wasn't built to be used as armour. Both he and April gets a lot of use out of the extra defense.

With quite a bit of practice Donnie is able to actually generate specific and more complex designs! Which means that yes, to the horror of friend and foe alike, Donnie can and will summon an entire arsenal of firepower, yikes. He's not limited to firearms though, he's able to generate all kinds of technology and machinery (drill!!!!)

To create these mystic contructs, it does require Donnie to have a good understanding of what it looks like, how it functions, etc. His imagination and his knowledge of technology are what sets a lot of the limits on what he is able to create, if he can build it in his lab then he can build it with his Ninpō. This particular ability requires a lot complex thought, if Donnie wasn't so smart he wouldn't be able to pull it off as well as he does.

Another limitation is that maintaining the contsructs is very energy-consuming, he'll quickly exhaust himself if he keeps them around. He'll usually only summon constructs very briefly for an attack and then immedietly dismiss them.

The way that Donnnie's Ninpō manifests itself is already very technology-oriented, because of that he can interact with ordinary technology through his Ninpō. Personally I haven't figured out the details of what exactly that can look like, but there's definitely a lot of possibilities to explore here.

One thing though, as Donnie's Ninpō grows more and more powerful overtime, a side-effect of that is that if he gets really pissed off or otherwise very emotional, he'll accidentally make the technology in his near viscinity go haywire lmao. (This has the risk of making him even more angry, which just worsens the problem, and so on haha)

I really like the idea of Donnie being the second most powerful mystic user out of his brothers, after Mikey of course. And because he's mostly self-trained, he doesn't have the best understanding of how to properly control his powers, which evidently can become a bit of a problem. Donnie eventually agrees to let Draxum help him get a better grasp on his mystic abilities after the Hamatos and the Draxums become more friendly with each other.

So uh. About how Donnie kinda accidentally infused Shelldon with mystic energy while creating him which caused the robot to develop a kind of soul? Yeah so because of that Shelldon's mystic energy if linked to Donnie's, which means that Shelldon more or less gains access to the same abilities as Donnie does! He's not quite as powerful as Donnie, and he still needs to practice to fully get a grasp on these powers as well. But point is, that's how Shelldon gains acess to Ninpō in the AU! (He also notices their fucked up "teapot")

Anyway that basically summarizes it! A lot of these ideas are headcanons I have for canon!Donnie as well honestly, the AU is just an excuse to explore these concepts. Donnie's ability to summon fucking firearms and military equipment is also something I've thought about, I wanted to try to think how it would work for him while also putting some limitations on it. ANOTHER THING I like the idea of Donnie's tech constructs basically being the same ability as when Raph creates constructs of himself. The difference lies with that Donnie is a massive nerd so his first instinct is to recreate his own tech with the Ninpō. While Raph being someone who is already so physically strong would naturally use his Ninpō to recreate his own greatest weapon, which is himself. (Donnie uses his brain, Raph uses his brawn, who would've guessed)

IGNIHYDE DUO (trio) REALLY WERE BOOK 7 MVPS. HOLY CRAP 😭 Of course, that's not to talk down the contributions of the other characters (like damn, did Silver's UM come in clutch, and everyone had their own moments) but!! Right now, there's already a lot of talk about Diasomnia--for good reason, it's their book--so I want to give Ignihyde their stars too.

Like Silver said at the party, none of this would be possible without them and help from S.T.Y.X.! It was Ortho's very nature of being a robot that allowed him a loophole to reach out to Idia and navigate the dreams. Otherwise, Silver would be dream hopping randomly and it would take so much longer to invite all the relevant people. Ortho also helps S.T.Y.X. gather data about the current situation on Sage's Island. And--MAY I ADD????--at one point, Ortho was confronted by THE Malleus Draconia, who threatened to end him on the spot with lightning (which, may I remind you, is something Ortho's official profile states he dislikes). Not only that, but to be brave enough to believe in his brother not rejecting him in favor of a reality in which OG!Ortho never died... ORTHO'S BITE SIZED BUT HE'S SO BRAVE

Then Idia????? He provided a ton of useful support. Making that cheat tool, summoning everyone, coding in all those hacks, explaining what's going on in a way that's easy to digest (and that video????), TELLING MALLEUS TO HIS FACE HE'S TURNING INTO THE RULER OF EVIL... Rushing in to send the sword flying at Malleus when Silver dropped it??????? And can we talk about how he's so pathetically out of shape but pushes himself to sprint to the meeting point anyway?! HIS MOMENT ON THE MAGICAL WHEEL???!??!?!?????? 💀 (otaku) PRINCE RIDING IN ON A (mechanical) HORSE

Let's not forget OG!Ortho too!! He may exist only as an entity in Idia's dream space, but it's so clear he's important too. Maybe not as a physical force, but definitely as emotional support OTL OG!Ortho being so friendly with Idia but then deciding to stand in his way as a "final boss" to test Idia's resolve??? Him sending Idia off by telling him "the entire world is waiting for you", not genuinely wanting to trap him in the cold, dark Underworld... His reappearance in the Ignihyde battle map against Malleus??? POLITELY GREETING MALLEUS AND THEN CASUALLY COMPLIMENTING ORTHO ON HIS NEW GEAR??? I can't with this cuteness 🤡 AND THE WAY ALL THREE OF THEM CALL EACH OTHER BROTHERS...

The nights here are pitch black. 

Like dwelling beneath the surface of the Earth’s crust, hidden away in cave systems. The notion sounds comforting at this point. To be isolated far from mankind without a care in the world.

You blink through fatigue and sleep deprivation. Muscles strung like a bowstring, taut with stress and ready to snap apart. 

Yawning as you mix together an elixir of instant coffee and boiled water into a blackened sludge. The sludge swirls around in your thermos. You stare into it, as if a magical answer would appear from the ether within and answer your countless questions. 

The meager light of your head lamp, fastened to your snowcap, barely ignites parts of the impromptu research station. You don’t bother wasting the power reserves on your late night excursions anymore. 

You find it hard to sleep. Difficult to dispel the images from your mind. Of the injuries you saw on others. Unnatural. Unholy. 

The rest of your crew chalked it up to an unlucky streak. It was best to not let paranoia fester in close quarters like this. With a storm raging overhead, the helicopter couldn’t be called until it subsides. And after the first of your crew was picked off… well, there is only so much stress a human mind can take before–

You startle when you turn the corner.

A towering figure stands there. Your eyes travel up, and up. Blinking rapidly to accommodate the jarring dilation of your pupils, as the overhead lights burn an afterimage into your retinas.

It’s Sun. 

You relax your shoulders. It’s odd to see the research drone out this late. The night time patrols are handled by its security counterpart, Moon.

But it has been more active lately, perhaps on high alert from the emergency status of your team. The blinking of a radio in the helm that is constantly relaying out an “SOS” into an uncaring, unlistening void.

The fate of your injured coworker is still uncertain. They are resting in the infirmary. They said they were attacked by some sort of wild animal; but you cant imagine what sort of fauna around here could do such damage, yet leave them alive...

The drone stares at you for a while. Most of your crew find it unnerving. A corporate, friendly design. A model that was once considered cutting-edge and sleek is now more of a hindrance and a pack mule for the company. Almost lost to time and disrepair, until you started taking them on as a personal project to rejuvenate and remove from the chopping block of becoming obsolete.

The upgrades have landed the model a ‘new’ job: act as a wall of metal set about to do menial tasks. To monitor the station and keep the research on track. Yet you've always been endeared toward its rigid personality.

"Hi Sun," you greet it with a dip to your head.

Expecting that to be the end of the brief encounter, you try to walk past it, but the mechanical creature stands stagnant in your path. Unmoving. The hollowed-out grin seems to stretch wider in your presence. You blink, imagining two pinholes, two dots of light in its mouth, but that would be— "E-evening, researcher," the robotic hum of an automated response churns through its circuitry. You find your concern taking a backseat, enjoying its simple yet effective pleasantry procedures.

“Evening,” you return the greeting. Sun’s posture never relaxes, mechanisms stiff with weathering. Yet its face plate swivels on its neck hinge, keeping a monitor on your every movement to shuffle past the robot.

Before turning the bend of the hallway, you pause.

There's a nagging thought inside your head that just won't leave. Maybe it's the paranoia bred from lack of sleep – of feeling like someone in this station could be a murderer. A screw loose that shatters the whole facade of being somewhere safe, surrounded by well-equipped professionals. 

No, that would mean admitting that even now, your life is in danger. Leaning in to the certainty of a predictable machine, where your faith in mankind has been tested.

All that fear winds up tight until it becomes an uncomfortable knot in your chest. So, you seek to take on a task that is familiar. Reassuring. 

It will keep your mind from wandering – worse yet, spiraling, at least for the rest of the night.

"Actually, Sun—care for an early maintenance check up?" You call out to the drone.

Its face jolts on a rotation to mime a head tilt. The cracking sound it makes reminds you of a neck snapping. "Soundsounds just peachy, friend! Lead the way!" The jovial voicebank continues, a sway to its arms that is cartoonishly friendly. You admire the gusto while the world is otherwise so bleak. 

Sun marches after you. A slight drag to its left leg. The metal is torn into, panels hanging off the hinges. 

You take note of the detail for later. 

The two of you walk to a smaller offset of the lab: the mechanic’s room. You are a jack-of-all-trades, a hire put on to keep an eye on company tech. Such as the assistant drone across from you.

Sun sits down on your work bench. The mechanical being leans forward, the expanse of its back on view. You feel around the planes of curved metal, fingertips knowing where the latch is that opens up the entire panel. 

The panels open with a groan. With strong resistance. A snapping noise like vines torn apart. Far beyond what you’d mark down as a need to have hinges oiled, almost as if an opposing force was trying to hold it together. To keep them whole.

"I'm going to power you down now," You instruct. Sun's eyes flash a burning white glow. Then in a flicker, dim to their regular intensity. "Y-you got it, researcher!" The lines exalt from their circuitry. Complacent. Yet something curls into its wires, a frantic and fleeting moment of panic that suddenly expires in a supernova the moment you are reaching in and turning off their systems.

The switch is easy to access. Though it parts with difficulty.

The sounds of their internal workings still. The fans stop. The coolant ceases pumping. Electricity stuck without an outlet. Frozen.

You fall into the lull of the routine maintenance check. Dutifully testing wires, cleaning out stubborn gunk that clogs up their delicate machinery. You frown at a particularly stubborn batch of gristle. You lean closer to allow your headlamp to illuminate the situation, but find that–

"Ow," you utter. The small shock to your finger feels insignificant. A faulty wire. You hadn’t been able to check over their systems as frequently, not on this research mission. Perhaps it had put a strain on their foundation, caused a few glitches and bugs that you’d normally catch well in advance.

You move to retreat. But you freeze up. Eyes widening at the sight before you.

The wire matrix pulses. A hypnotic array of neurons sparking and activating. An expanse of circuitry interconnecting and linking. The lights flash once, twice. 

Rippling throughout the dense machinery like a wall of flesh—sentient, breathing, cascading. 

You panic. Rush to turn the assistant's system back on. To stop this horrid hallucination and ground yourself back into reality, because this can’t be real–

You find that you don't need to flip the switch.

Sun powers back on without prompting. The twisting innards interlock with the lines of electricity, completing the system. Routing electricity through like a nervous system. 

You jump back as his hull shuts close in a rapid motion.

Fast, like it had tried to snap down swift enough to decapitate you.

Sun rises to stand before you.

Moving so swift, with such fluidity, that the drone is hardly recognizable from the clunky machinery you’ve grown accustom to. 

Like it is alive, breathing, and not–

"D-don't dont do that again," ‘friend.’ Your breath catches in your throat. Its grip on your wrist is so tight that your muscles spasm and you drop the screwdriver held tight in your fists with a clatter.

“I d-don’t like being shut,” ‘off,’  Sun says. The faceplate swivels and dangles on its flimsy hinge. Within its mouth, shadows ripple and seep out. Reaching toward you. Wisps of claws and unearthly matter that caresses across your face. Cold, bitterly cold. 

Your mind stops working. 

‘so dark.’ The shadows murmur, like a chime lost on the breeze. The temperature of the room keeps plummeting until your breath is crystalizing in the air. Every panicked, hushed wheeze. As your lungs shudder, your body pumps out adrenaline, yet you are stuck in place.

"Good," 'good,' it utters. Synthetic voice blending with a whispering shush. Almost natural like breathing, an exhale that speaks alongside its record-like voice.

Alarm flashes through you. 

You need to tell the others. 

You need to check in on your coworker in the infirmary—you need to, to—

pass out — expecting a thud of your head hitting concrete, only to be caught. Enveloped in arms made of metal and unreal, wispy sinew alike.

Distantly, you could remember how excited you’d been to be invited to the showing.

You’d opened the invitation at your desk, surrounded by a small group of your more friendly coworkers who’d go on to clap and cheer and promise a round of after-hour drinks after you finished reading out the snippet of text scrolled across the cream-colored cardstock. You weren’t special - a small legion of journalists would be invited to write puff-pieces on all the new models and decide which androids were going to be in fashion next season - but you’d loved Teyvat as long as you could remember, spent more of your free time than you cared to admit doing research on robots you’d never be able to afford, not on a salary like yours. It wasn’t a world-changing, earth-shaking accomplishment, but it made you happy. It was something you wanted, and it was something you’d finally gotten your hands on after years of waiting.

You couldn’t remember when your excitement had started to wane. You were still wide-eyed and slack-jawed when you stepped into the venue, an old opera house restored and decorated to better suit the Fontaine Collection’s high-luxury theming. You hadn’t been able to bite back your smile as you kissed the back of a refitted Focalors’ hand (or, Lady Furina’s hand, as she told you to call her in a tone you could only compare to that of a newly-crowned monarch still drinking in her subjects’ attention), and watched Clorinde’s fencing demonstration with the sort of rapt attention most people would save for famous idols and athletes. Even after you lost your photographer in the crowd, your heart skipped a beat as Neuvillette (the brooding, stoic type of this line, you were sure to note when you next found a minute to yourself) offered you a flute of champagne that you readily accepted, and when a roaming Lyney-droid pulled you to the side and offered to show you magic trick with an irresistible glint in his eye, you didn’t think twice before looping your arm through his and letting him guide you to an all-but abandoned backstage area. You thought you might get something exclusive, something to separate you from the crowd of influencers and tabloids who weren’t afraid to promise features that the approachable beta models only half-confirmed. You thought you’d be safe with a premium-grade android hanging off your arm.

Maybe your excitement didn’t wane at all. It’d been there one moment, then gone the next, replaced with a dark coil of dread and some kind of dizzying, vision-blurring nausea. The sharp corner of the vanity bit harshly into the backs of your thighs, the mirror pressed into your back slowly sapping the warmth from your skin and replacing it with something else, a numbing chill you couldn’t seem to shake. Your clothes had been torn to shreds, left to scatter across the dressing room floor, but Lyney was still fully dressed, fully composed; the palest blush painted across his cheeks and his lips ever so slightly parted but all other signs of arousal, of embarrassment absent. You made a mental note to work that into your article. The new models seem to have a shared sense of unwavering confidence– a stark contrast from their more reserved predecessors from Mondstadt and Sumeru. Maybe you’d be able to get a quote from their handlers, if you ever made it back to the show floor.

You’d have to give Lyney his own section, titled something your boss would have to talk to HR about: Teyvat's New Magician is Good With More Than His Cards. You could only feel half of what he was doing to you, shock dulling your already limited senses, but the fingers drawing loose patterns in your clit was near-overwhelming, the feeling of his synthetic cock splitting you open inescapable, unrelenting. He didn’t need to breathe, to worry about things like soreness or bruising or cramps, to do anything but thrust into you at a pace so erratic, so unyielding that it left little room for you to do anything but lie there and take it. His hips were pushed flat against yours, his tip grinding against something soft and unprotected inside of you and drawing out a ragged gasp, a cracked moan. Out of reflex, your hands shot to his shoulders, nails digging into whatever you could reach, and he let out an airy laugh, leaning closer and encouraging you to hold him tighter, to see if you could tear through the faux-skin Teyvat so often advertised as ‘invincible’. That would make headlines, even if it wasn’t likely to cast you in the best light.

His free hand drifted from your hip to your side to your cheek, his knuckles brushing underneath your chin before he cupped your cheek and pulled you into a deep, lingering kiss. His saliva was flavored, though you couldn’t say what it was supposed to taste like. Cotten candy, maybe – so cloying and sugary, all specifics were lost to the sweetness. It suited him. If you’d been able to use your hands, you would’ve applauded his developers for their attention to detail.

When he pulled back, he was smiling. There was another kiss to the corner of your mouth, then another to the corner of your jaw. Finally, he settled against your throat – his grin so broad, you could feel his perfect teeth resting against your jugular as he spoke. “They told me I’d be able to find a master tonight. The others aren’t ready yet, but I am. They worked the hardest on me.” He was bragging, transparently and unabashedly. In any other situation, you might’ve thought he was trying to impress you. “I knew it had to be you the moment our eyes met. So cute, so easily impressed – I knew you just had to be mine.”

He seemed to perk up, to catch on something. He pressed the pad of his thumb into your clit, and your entire body jolted. “No, no, that’s not right,” he went on, shaking his head. “I’m supposed to be yours.I keep getting that mixed up.”

Faulty programming? It’d be a scandal if it got out, and moreover, it’d be a massive payout if Teyvat decided they preferred to handle things behind closed doors. You bet they’d done it before. Maybe you’d look into that, later on.

Your back arched violently, another pitchy whine bubbling up from some forgotten cavity of your chest. As if in response, he inhaled sharply, buckling against you in the throes of simulated pleasure. His pace sped up, his teeth latching onto the curve of your neck, but any pain it might’ve caused was lost on you, blurred and distorted by the thick rope of tension pulling taut and snapping in the pit of your stomach. Your climax washed over you in slow, throbbing waves, and Lyney was kind enough to pretend he was lost in the same agonizing bliss, to act like that was the reason he was bucking into you so violently.

To act like he had an excuse to do this to you.

He fucked you through your orgasm, eventually stilling inside of you. With his body slotted against yours, his teeth still buried in your skin, he lingered there, only drawing back once your breathing had started to slow and deepen, once you’d stopped shaking underneath him. Even then, he didn’t let you go, didn’t leave you to cry your eyes out in an empty dressing room. She and her twin brother weren’t supposed to be revealed until the show at the end of the night. You doubted anyone had even thought to power them on, yet.

“She’ll be as happy as I am to know we’ll be leaving with such a lovely master.”

A non-exhaustive set of things that make me more likely to enjoy a nonbinary NPC, or playing a nonbinary PC. I've stumbled at some of these in my time, so it's not meant to be some kind of finger-wagging at writers. Just thinking about a few things that make me sit up and notice:

- the game is normal about the NPC's body

- by which I mean their body is not exoticised or treated oddly compared to cis NPCs

- the NPC is humanised

- by which I don't mean they must be human, because not all games are about that, but if they have some touch of groundedness I'm more likely to enjoy them (this applies to all characters, to be honest)

- if they are totally inhuman (say a robot or alien, etc) I'm much more likely to enjoy them if there are plenty of other nonbinary characters who are more human/grounded

- for a number of reasons it feels rubbish if the game treats a nonbinary PC as "basically a woman"; I'd rather writers just write cis characters if they're doing that

- if I'm playing a nonbinary PC, it feels lonely when there are no other nonbinary characters to engage with so I'd like at least one around, preferably more

- if there's only one major nonbinary NPC in the game, I start thinking about where the others are (especially in a generally "welcoming" or "friendly" setting: if the setting is so nice to all queer people, where are the nonbinary people?)

- if most or all the nonbinary characters are gender-selectable and can also be cis, this will not always feel like a game fully populated with nonbinary people if there aren't non-selectable ones around

-if medical or magical transition is accessible, the possibility of such is acknowledged for nonbinary PCs (and nonbinary NPCs if relevant)

- if explicit scenes are involved, the game describes a nonbinary PC's body in a way that feels comfortable (this is subjective, but if I'm playing as a nonbinary PC with a vulva, encountering an identical physical description as is displayed to a cis woman PC in an explicit scene can be deeply unpleasant if not written carefully; if their body is treated as a blank Ken doll where cis NPCs' bodies and sensations are described in much more detail, this is also weird!)

I don't end up playing very many games as a nonbinary character. A lot of games are absolutely brilliant to play as a cis character, but feel off to me when playing as nonbinary, so I tend to check how it's handled beforehand.

(For me, I don't mind a simple pronoun switch and little/no other acknowledgment of it. But if this is how it's handled, I find it much more enjoyable if there are other major nonbinary characters in the game.)

Hello! Remember how I said I was going to redo the lineup? Well I’ve finished page one already!

1: Sans Wingdings (undertale)

Our classic lazy punny skeleton, sans is that silly nerd we all adore. He's a personable character, his easy going nature and laid back mannerisms making it easy for him to win over new friends. However getting to know this skeleton beyond surface level is much harder. Behind his playful front is a nervous and cautious monster. Sans doesn't trust easily. Sans is a scholar at heart, and if he finds something interesting enough, you'll see this skeleton shed his lazy bones and really put in some work!

Job: sans is the head engineer at the core in ridgeside village. He helps maintain the machinery above ground and the core below making sure the blend of magic and nuclear energy continues to run smoothly.

2: Papyrus Wingdings (undertale)

If you ever look up the word optimist in the dictionary, you'll find papyrus' name! Papyrus is a cheerful and friendly guy, always down to help someone out, even strangers! He's a firm believer of you get what you put in, so why spread hate when you can sow kindness! While he isn't innocent, he does often find himself in trouble from being too nice to the wrong person. Papyrus is notorious for putting his own principles in front of his safety, a fact that makes his family and friends rather protective.

3: Star Wingdings (underswap sans)

Star is a living breathing ball of pure ENERGY. No really, man could bounce off the wall for hours and not even break a sweat! Star is a very cheerful personality, if a tad manipulative. He has a rather cute face resulting in often being treated much younger than the grown ass adult he is lol. After a lifetime of this, he figured he might as well take advantage of it. Star is a very intelligent and capable monster and often forgets that his limits aren't shared by others. While he is a great hype man, he can come off as pushy and bossy if one does not set firm boundaries.

Job: Star is part of the royal guard in the peace guard division- aka the police force of ebott. Star is mainly put in search and rescue cases as he is rather talented at finding people. He also does a lot of patrolling though when times are slow.

4: Honey Snowtuft (underswap papyrus)

Honey is a kind and gentle soul. Not a single mean bone in his body. He's a bit of a shy guy and is quite awkward when one first meets him. However, once he relaxes around someone, honey is a chill and goofy guy with a bit of a mother hen side to him. Honey doesn't make friends easily and can be rather clingy when you get that title. He's also a huge nag to his friends, a product of having one of the most stubborn creatures alive as a brother. oh and he's a total nerd. *fun fact: the different last name is from his aunt Jeanie who raised him*

Special ability: He can innately understand the basic meaning behind any written language. Not the specific details, but the base context of a text comes naturally to him. He doesn't realize this is a special ability and just thinks languages come naturally to him.

Job: Honey is a freelance translator! he works from home and will translate all kinds of documents, books scripts, anything really. He knows over a dozen different languages!

5: Red Wingdings (underfell sans)

Red is a very prickly guy. He always seems to be on the defensive and will snap quickly at any perceived slight. He's had a rough life and not very many good experiences with strangers to draw from. It takes a very patient person to earn reds trust. Once you do though, you'll find a loyal deeply caring friend. Red with friends is a total goofball. He has a biting sense of humor and loves to tease. He's easily flustered and is fun to get a rise out of too. It's easy to tell when his blustering is just for show.

6: Edge Wingdings (underfell papyrus)

Edge is a natural born leader. He has high expectations for himself and those under him, but he doesn't put others down for their failures. Instead, he brings them up helping them become their best versions- if they're willing to listen of course. Edge is stern and bossy around most but has a huge soft spot for the sweeties in his life. He's defenseless against a good set of puppy eyes. He's extremely protective of the people he considers "his" and is ready to go to war for them. Edge thrives in routine and rules and gets easily annoyed by those who deliberately ignore them.

Think of the attitude of someone who came from the streets, now has money but still lives like they're in the street and you have mal. His personality is a strange blend of diva and punk that seems to confuse many. He loves keeping people on their toes though, so this works out perfectly for him. Mal thrives off of drama and if he can't find any, he'll create his own. One of the most dangerous things in the world is a bored mal. He is clever and playful but biting towards those he deems weak. His friendship is not for the thin skinned.

8: Cash (swapfell papyrus)

Say hello to chaos incarnate. Sometimes it seems like cash's only purpose in life is to cause trouble lol. He's a very mischievous character as well as creative and deeply curious. A dangerous combination indeed. Cash lives for the laughs in life. He loves bringing smiles to people's faces with his jokes and pranks, but his moral compass is a bit skewed, and he can take things too far if left to his own devices. Cash has a strong desire to be better than what he is now and will cling to people who make him feel like he's doing good. He is a recovering addict and has to take care to say far away from those who would drag him back to that life.

Job: Cash is a pizza delivery guy officially, but he also has a side hustle as a financial advisor. He has no degree, but his clients usually leave happy regardless.

9: Oak Wingdings (horrortale sans)

Despite technically being the same guy as sans, oak couldn't be more different. After a head injury wiped many of his memories, as well as experiencing his au's famine, oak has come out a very changed monster. Where sans is personable and playful, oak is shy and reserved. His memory issues makes many of his old passions difficult to participate in, causing oak to find new loves in life. Oak is kind and gentle but also aloof and nervous. He cant mask his emotions the same way his younger counterpart can anymore making him an open book. On bad days he's very snappy and irritable, angry at how helpless he feels.

Special ability: like sans, oak can summon objects to himself but struggles to use his ability as it requires him remembering where he left them. He also has a surprise second ability where he has an aura that naturally attracts animals, making then docile and friendly. Even wild animals.

Job: Oak works in the kitchen of his brother's bakery on his good days. He also supplies a good portion of the eggs that the bakery uses each day.

10: Willow Wingdings (horrortale papyrus)

Experiencing the famine and caring for his deeply injured brother in his old au changed willow from the optimist he used to be. While still a cheerful character, Willow is now cautious where papyrus is bold. And if you cross willow once, you'll never do it again. He doesn't forgive easily. Willow cares deeply and seems to have this need to mother others lol. He's at his happiest when he's helping out someone he loves. He can't stand boredom and has to always be doing something to feel stable. He's rather openly sarcastic and has a surprisingly dry sense of humor.

Name: Traffikrab

Debut: Cassette Beasts

Cassette Beasts is a game where one of the most common battle monsters around is a traffic-themed hermit crab creature! Isn't that wonderful? The traffic cone is not actually part of its body, but it fits oh so well, considering its traffic light-like face! I think the light is its eye, but it is possible that its angry eyebrows are actually eyestalks. Either way is good!

Another wonderful thing about Traffikrab and friends is that they are Plastic type! This game has most of the classic elemental types, along with a few fun surprises like Plastic, which probably has my favorite creatures overall. I love when fictional creatures have very artificial/created vibes! It's like these things are robots but also not at the same time!

Traffikrab can be remastered (equivalent of evolution) into a few different options...

Lobstacle is the defensive choice, and has the best name of the line! This crustacean wants to be in the way, and is good at it. It wears a construction barrel rather than a cone, and I don't think I've ever really seen construction barrels given a media spotlight, so that is very cool! Its antennae/eyebrows are now striped with caution colors with a big ol "no" sign in the middle. This is the logical extreme of a traffic hermit crab! But not the end of the concept's creativity!

Weevilite is the result of a Traffikrab remastering to a ranged attack-focused form instead, and it is my personal favorite of the two options! The traffic cone seems to have transformed into a more proper abdomen, and the focus is now on its traffic light head and neck, which is so cool! From the name and the long neck, you may recognize this as being inspired by a giraffe weevil, yet another thing I don't think I've ever seen as a monster design basis. If the light was its eye, it now has a second eye, right under the first. When people record video with their phone vertically, they're not doing it for fellow humans. They're doing it to show Weevilite!

Finally we have the most special crab of all in this game! Not a Traffikrab, but Magikrab, who inhabits a wizard's hat and has a purple eye that perhaps evokes a crystal ball! Traffic cones and wizard hats are similar things, really. Once I saw an fire hydrant gushing water, with a traffic cone on top of it. You better believe I immediately recognized it as a metal wizard casting a Water Blast Spell!

Magikrab appears throughout the game as a friendly NPC, who can talk, and is very polite and enthusiastic! It is always very happy to open up train stations for you to travel between. I wish the government was much more like this magical crustacean! Or better yet, replaced entirely by it!

Malleus Draconia

• Malleus' confession of feelings involved a number of obstacles and misunderstandings, although happily resolved.

• He wrote about you many times in letters to his grandmother. And although it made him realize the fragility of relationships with humans, grandma was also very happy knowing that her grandson had experienced such deep love. She really wanted to meet you, even though you didn't know it at the time.

• Draconia's biggest fear and block from telling you how he felt was the fear of loss. In various aspects of it. He was aware that he would certainly outlive you, and from time to time the thought of you returning to the world you came from floated in the back of his mind. In addition, you were his first real friend, not counting the people who were with him every day. Rejection could cost him the entire relationship.

One most ordinary night, he simply realized that the risk was worth trying to tell you how he felt.

• Malleus sprang into action with eager vigour. Unfortunately, these efforts were somewhat misdirected. It took Lilia to clearly explain to him that the customs adopted among fae do not necessarily translate to humans. He was forced to do this, as it were, because after you threw away his family generational necklace, the clouds over Diasomnia were darkening day by day and a disastrous downpour with lightning was brewing.

Meanwhile, you were simply afraid that Grim would destroy such a valuable and expensive gift. You had absolutely no idea of the additional meaning it carried.

• The second attempt was definitely more successful. Malleus gave you the rose seeds he grew in Briar Valley. Planted in Ramshackle, with his magic they turned into a field of red flowers. Combined with the moonlight and the fireflies dancing around you, it created a wonderful atmosphere that you will remember for a long time.

It was then that the fae confessed to you that he had been smitten with you from the very beginning but it was your friendship, so precious to him, that turned into something more. The fact that he knelt down in front of you and promised to give you everything you wanted made you think for a moment that he was going to propose to you. Initially, that's what he planned, but Lilia talked him out of it...

Idia Shroud

• It's not that Idia didn't know what love was. He had played so many otome games that while he wasn't an expert, he certainly wasn't a noob. However, without Ortho's help, he would not have correctly recognized its signs in real life.

• He started by avoiding you. The rapid heartbeat and red tips of his hair were becoming more and more frequent and it was difficult for him to control them. So he found the best solution he could come up with, which was to lock himself in his room. He avoided you as much as he could all over campus.

• His brother, although he quickly understood through data analysis what was happening to him, did not think it was good to raise the topic too early. Initially, he wanted to give Idia time. Time was clearly running out because the robot, seeing you once again look sadly at the tablet and gave it a wide berth, decided to act. He prepared a series of tests to convince your older brother that you reciprocate his feelings. Of course, Shroud hid under the blanket, mumbled to be left alone. Although he pretended to be uninterested, the speech actually sparked hope in him.

Maybe this time he wasn't a total knight nerd and side hero? Maybe he could play the lead role for once?

• He did what he does best. He designed a program that allowed him to send a request if you wanted to be his girlfriend. At worst, he was going to pretend it was a mistake.

When he saw that instead of checking the tick box, you had come to Ignihyde, he immediately paled. You had to knock on the door, telling him that you wouldn't leave until he explained to you what was actually going on and how this confession related to his constant avoidance of you.

Idia just stuck his head out of the crack, stammered and said that he was like the worst NPC you've ever seen but if you let him have some time, maybe he'll become a main character worthy of you.

Kalim Al-Asim

• Friendzone should be his middle name. From the beginning of your relationship, he sent you signals that you considered romantic. Until you started spending more time with him around others and you found out that Kalim treated them the same way he treated you. That's when everything started to get confusing for you.

• When you tried to tell him that you liked him very much, he replied that he liked you too. When you said more, he said more, more. And when you said he was more than a friend, he said you were his best friend. He did all this with such a wide smile on his face that you didn't have the heart to explain to him the true meaning of your statements. You knew the sincerity of his words. Few people in the NRC matched him in truthfulness. But it was incredibly frustrating for you.

• Grim knew exactly what was happening, seeing your hearty eyes every time you left the desert dormitory. He calculated in his head how many cans of tuna he would get if you got together with the prefect of Scarabia. This prompted him to not-so-subtly blurt out to Kalim that you were romantically interested in him. In return, he received a promise of a container of fish delicacies.

• The boy was in great shock but in a positive way. He didn't know what to do with all his joy, so he grabbed the first flowers in a vase he had at hand and ran towards the flying carpet. You weren't expecting him at all in the evening, dressed in your pajamas and ready to go to bed. He hugged you so tightly that he almost knocked you over and that was before he even remembered that he hadn't told you why he actually came...

Hello, ninjblr, I would like to share an AU I’ve been discussing all day with my dear friend @no-eyes-yet-but-vibing because it has a CHOKEHOLD on me.

I’ve affectionately dubbed it “Of the Earth” and now, as I am not good at drawing (yet) to show you through picture all the silly little scenarios I have planned, allow me to explain;

I like to think of the elemental masters as avatars of nature; they have domain over one aspect of it and are tasked with the protection of the world and its people. They’re basically parts of nature incarnate, if you will (with Lloyd being incarnate of life (I think of him as a funnel for all other elements), Wu creation, Garmadon destruction/decay, FSM is the origin of all). Consider, if you will, these avatars also gaining an animal form interlinked with their powers.

TLDR; shapeshifter AU, or His Dark Materials ripoff BUT BETTER.

Lloyd can transform into a Magpie: (Eurasian) magpies are playful in nature, and associated with luck (Magpie counting rhyme I think.) and shapeshifting (which is homage to Lloyd’s heritage as oni/dragon/human and also to the fact that he got aged up). Birds in general are also associated with freedom.

Zane is a Snowy Owl, first of all ICE AND SNOW, guidance (owl) and freedom (bird.) I feel it suits Zane really well. In terms of being a robot and not ‘flesh’, elemental power (canonically) overcomes that. We see he can do anything any other elemental master can do, and asides from that- he functions, thinks and feels like his human counterparts. He can instinctively fly the first time he assumes animal form ^^

Cole is a Weasel, as suggested by my friend. Weasels are strong and clever predators, but not necessarily what you’d expect. (And we tied it to transness. Perhaps Cole is transmasc in this au… hence the ‘not what you expected’. He’s so queer coded. He IS queer…) Their strength mirrors the strength of Cole’s element, and their habitats being forests give them that connection to dirt and earth and rocks and trees.

Jay is a Border Collie; and the first time it happens, everyone is surprised including himself. But this one’s about domesticity, about Jay kinda being underestimated and unassuming. The same way humans have forgone the very real and detrimental dangers of lightening and have utilised it in daily life through controlled electricity, dogs have been domesticated as friendly, loyal and useful animals by forgoing their origin as wolves/wild dogs. I think the attributes of a dog suit Jay really well; he is loyal to his team, strong and comforting, but he’s still fierce and powerful.

Kai is an Ocelot; which are usually found in rainforests though can live in hotter and drier climates (I believe.) as long as there is foliage. The connection to the rainforest here is about his heritage from both parents; yes he’s the master of Fire but he’s also the son of a Water master- hence, somewhere hot and humid; a rainforest. Ocelots are good swimmers- so by instinct, when he’s an ocelot, Kai can swim; I like to think the elemental magic overcomes his fear of water but this doesn’t get carried over to his human form. Again kinda a testament to the strength of nature itself. I’m also gonna say it ☝️I personally imagined Kai to be trans aswell (EVERYONE IS TRANS?!/j/silly) and whilst male ocelots are uninvolved in the raising of young, female ocelots do raise their young alone which I view as a testament to the way Kai raised Nya alone.

Ray is decidedly surprised when he sees his son as an Ocelot; Ray himself is a Sable Antelope- which lives in the grasslands/savanna and is quite big and strong (with huge horns), so he thought that considering his son inherited fire from him, he’d be a bigger savanna animal as opposed to a smaller rainforest predator.

Nya is a Strawberry Poison Dart Frog! Which is testament to her being underestimated a lot as well!! At first, even she rejects the idea that she has the form of a small (smallest on the team!) amphibian- but she grows to find advantages in it (I imagine maybe spy work…). Bright colours usually have ‘girly’ associations- especially pinks and reds- but in this case, they’re a symbol of lethality. She’s small but deadly; unsuspecting but you shouldn’t underestimate her. She’s also a rainforest animal for the same reasons as her brother!! A connection to both water and fire- heat and humidity.

As some trivia, Maya is an otter! Eurasian, specifically- found more in temperate forests, cooler environments.

Wu is an Eurasian Owl. Big. Wise. Do I need to say more?

And Garmadon is a Hare. This is. This is based off a vibe but there’s also that aspect of kinda innocence turned dangerous? He’s a son of the FSM, but there’s something not right about him; he’s not a rabbit- with it’s childish and soft associations- he’s a hare with its strength, and maybe an association with child abandonment.

Bonus!! Skylor is a Spotted Hyena, where Spotted Hyena societies are very harsh environments, especially if you’re a male hyena (I view Skylor as transfemme so…). Hyenas are also clever and powerful scavengers and hunters, which often get a bad reputation as crude animals- something I think suits Skylor really well in the way she was introduced; the mistrust against her, the environment she was raised in.

Bonus #2!! Morro is a Cuckoo bird because of this cool characteristic called ‘Brood Parasitism’ where (usually a bird) an animal will leave their young in the care/nest of another animal and let that animal raise their young instead of doing it themselves. Morro was abandoned and Wu raised him ^^ Also birds and wind? Yeah you get it. I feel the colours (greys) also suit Morro quite well.

By instinct, the first few times Lloyd utilises his animal form (I like to imagine they learn to assume them at an age of elemental maturity? Maybe 13, at which point, they have all their animal’s instincts), he cannot fly by instinct because he got aged up prematurely. This leads to Wu teaching Lloyd how to fly and I find this adorable.

But yeah!! That’s. That’s it. I’m OBSESSED thinking about this so much.

when Copia told Aether that he was going to be forced to retire, Aether immediately started working on his replacement. usually they would have just summoned a new ghoul, but Aether had asked if he could try making it.

Quintessence magic is very electric, which makes it much easier for Aether to make the robot than a human. he could understand what was going wrong in a second.

the other ghouls would sit in the lab with him and give him company. Cumulus would come to make sure he's eaten and taken care of himself, Rain would come to tell him the drama he's been missing, and Swiss was sure to annoy the shit out of Aether in an attempt to make the scientist smile.

Dewdrop visited often, but his visits were less friendly. he'd argue with Aether about how unfair it was that Aether was being forced to leave or how he should've told Copia that he wouldn't do it. he'd silently cry as he watched Aether work on the thing that would take his place. he made it very obvious that he detested the bot and nothing would change his mind.

when the bot was complete, it didn't have a name for a while. they all referred to it as "Bug" because his eyes were always wide with curiosity.

Bug stayed in the lab for the most part since Aether was worried about him becoming damaged too early. the other ghouls would pop in a socialise with him, and he quickly picked up a lot of their personalities and quirks. Mountain's big words, Cirrus' loud laugh, Rain's flare for dramatics. he was becoming a collage of everyone.

everyone except Dewdrop, who had never visited.

eventually, they gave him the official name of Phantom, due to his uncanny look and his ability to show up behind you without a sound. he was allowed to walk around the ministry after a while and he quickly became a part of the pack despite the fact he wasn't like them.

Dewdrop still despised him, but Copia allowed Aether to stay with the pack so he could keep an eye on the robot, so he was content.
