Thing about writing Good Omens fanfiction... you have to be extremely cognizant of your usage of the word "effort."

Was it going to be an innuendo? Doesn't matter, it sure is now!

I might use this line, but boy does it come with some implications I may or may not want here! 🤣🤣🤣

“You remember our little arrangement,” the demon went on, so low Aziraphale had to make an effort to hear him.

I had forgotten that these two oft quoted lines are in the same paragraph. 😅☺️

One of my new year's resolutions for 2024 was to drop my habit of liking tumblr posts rather than reblogging them. If I saw a good post while scrolling through my dash, I'd simply tap the heart so I could "come back to it later" instead of subjecting myself to the intolerable agony of interruption. (Turns out it's an ADHD thing.)

But I decided that had to change, so I girded my loins, opened up my likes page, and began to go back through them all to see which felt rebloggable. After all, with determination and a can-do attitude, how long could that take?

I only got to mid-2023.

I am a prolific liker of posts.

Anyway, if you're one of my mutuals and you're thinking to yourself "why is he reblogging all these old posts?" This is why. They're only gonna get older the deeper I get into my backlog.

I am so sorry.

When I was early on in my transition I got in a Lyft, and the driver was this big country guy. I was a little nervous so I just sat quietly in the back.

After a moment he changed the music on his phone to what sounded like a Hatsune Miku song. Curiosity got the better of me, so I finally spoke up and said “is this Hatsune Miku?”

And he said “Yep. You looked uncomfortable, and I know Transgender women like Hatsune Miku, so I thought it might help.”

I think about that interaction a lot.

y’all just— thinking about how excited Stanley must have been to host the twins— Alex says he smokes cigars but he doesn’t smoke once in the show— has a beer gut but he only drinks sodas in front of the kids— doesn’t swear when they’re around which must have taken INCREDIBLE effort— Stanley Pines, known crook, buying pancake mix at the supermarket and many bottles of syrup— learning to cook basic healthy meals and burning so many of them before he gets it right— buying new sheets, new mattresses— avoiding bunk beds because it reminds him of Ford— looking at the attic room he made wondering “is this enough will they like me”— trying to act aloof at the bus stop so he doesn’t betray the fact that he was there hours early— watching them goof around and thinking of New Jersey beaches— then the first night they’re there, he watches them debate running away and only stay because Mabel shook a magic 8 ball. That must have kept him awake all night.

when i was a kid, a new family moved into our neighborhood. my parents wanted to welcome them, so my dad made a bowl of salsa and went over with my mom to introduce themselves. the husband of the new family was very excited when he got the salsa—he was a professional chef and as such no one ever made food for him because they always assumed he’d think it was bad, just because he was a good cook.

the moral of the story: give your artist friends art! give your writing friends writing! and give your chef friends food! even if they’re “better” at it than you. i can assure you that they’ll love it regardless because it came from you.
