Things I love in Jessica Jones Season 1 that I don't see anyone else talking about:
• The bond Trish and Jessica share. That even before Jessica thought of turning herself in she went to see Trish's abusive mom, called her out on her bullshit (multiple times) and told her to stay away from her. That Trish tells Jessica she hopes she can allow herself to be happy, gives her money to run, and stands by her even if she doesn't understand her. Trish tolerates her mom presence and future possibility of same to know about Jessica's past accident and what made her like this.
• Luke, I liked how we wasn't written as her saviour for one moment. He supported her, called her out on his wrongs, lashed at her in hurt, and helped her. I loved how the writers didn't deviate from this being Jessica's story and only hinted at Luke's past to show why he lashed out at her and of course to create buzz for Luke Cage.
• DAVID TENNANT. How he made me feel hopeful Kilgrave could be redeemed, when there was none. Yes, he doesn't know love or good relationships because of what his parents did to him, yes he may be like this because the virus in him may affect his morality and judgements but after the bus stop, he had the chance to let go and live alone. He didn't. So the virus just influences mind control, not his desire to have a connection, or as he called it his yearning for her. Or how when he said, "I can't be hero without you" saying that it shows that before her he never considered using his powers for good because why would he, the world's safest people for children- his parent's tortured him (to treat him, of course, I'll talk more about that later). Moving on, there was anger and sadness when he said "I'll make her want me and then leave her. Make her feel despair" (heavily paraphased) shows he is hurt by her not choosing him, accepting him, understanding him and the anger and jealousy for choosing and understanding Luke instead. Or when he compelled Jeri's wife to make thousand cuts on Jeri because he understood and empathised with her because in his perspective, Jessica made a thousand cuts on him too (honestly, thinking about this scene even now gives me chills) Or the joy he felt when he could control her again because he genuinely believed that with time and control she would understand and forgive him because of that 18 seconds. He remembers those 18 seconds like that because that 18 seconds made him realise that's what he wants with her. He wants her to be with him because he feels for her. Otherwise, why would he be angry and scared she wanted to jump "I don't care about anyone's life but you. The rest are fungible to me"
• Jessica telling people to deal with their own grief (the jewellery person who wanted to kill her because of her mom's death - which valid, her mom shouldn't have lost life under a building caused by extraterrestrial- superhero war that could be avoided but that also doesn't give her right to kill people with superpowers) or how she calls out Kilgrave's parents for wanting to be God. They defended by saying he would die of neurogenerative disease at 12 years if they didn't do this, but that was also playing God. And if it was just him, you experimented on other kids, HOW do you explain that?
• Malcom throwing the drugs away after Jessica says that Kilgrave did that to isolate her (which yes abusers do), Malcom's prayer for Reuben (A beautiful funeral doesn't guarantee Heaven), Robyn telling Malcom that she forgives him and she hopes there is express shipping in heaven.
•(Edit 1) Kilgrave dying with with a snap of neck and while I was a bit disappointed then and thinking , "Oh? That's it? No showdown of epic proportion?" now that I think about it, that was beautiful. Because no matter what mind control super power Kilgrave had, or whatever power he had that made him super human- him dying with a snap of neck showed he was still vulnerable, and human. That no matter how powerful you are, there are chinks in your armour (and here I wrote why it reminded me of Harry Potter)
P. S it was nice to see you Claire Temple.

Malcom and Claire would've been such a power couple, not even necessarily romantic, but just like ... working together to help people. Hanging out. Supporting each other.

here's hoping the punisher somehow miraculously avoids the marvel netflix Curse of "hey for s2 let's ruin all the core character relationships that made the show worth watching in the first place and never fix them bc our characters are too unhealthy for friends or family and pretending they'll ever recover is just silly and avoiding the Inevitable"

okay here’s the shortlist of my thoughts on jessica jones season 2 (spoilers):
oscar and jess are wonderful i support it
oscar’s son is wonderful and i support him
malcom in a suit is my sexuality
malcom deserves better than trish tbh
trish is such a morally grey character bc she’s all about helping people but she’s willing to go to such wild extremes every time
jessica jones i love you
carrie-anne moss (jeri hogarth) is the standout performance of the season
hey gina from the 100 is here
hey foggy from daredevil is here
hey that guy from like one episode of legends of tomorrow is here
malcom working out is my aesthetic
(malcom, i appreciate the new look but i loved the dreads)

Random Thoughts on Jessica Jones S2 AKA Trish Got Ruined by Some Cray Cray
Hey, I want your cray cray.
Unless I missed it, Jessica didn’t mention anything about The Defenders? Even when her mom was talking about teaming up, she didn’t bring it up.
I’m not sure how I feel about the whole Alisa thing. Everyone in the Marvel Netflix world has parental issues. Everyone! We get it, parents and parental figures can fuck you up. Too much love and attention, not enough love and attention, abandonment, death, more abandonment. Marvel writers, who hurt you? Let me guess, it was one or both of your parents.
I love a sensitive artiste romantic interest.
WIGS!!! Dr. Karl’s wig was bad.  Alisa’s wig was bad. Cray Cray’s wig was bad.
Congrats to Jessica on her (consensual) lovers/boyfriends of the past, present, and future. Get it girl.
Jeri’s name is Jeryn? Why even go by Jeri? It’s one letter difference and the same amount of syllables.
Jeri’s powers of manipulation outshines Kilgrave’s.
After the break up, Griffin just peaced out to a war zone.
Dr. Karl is real handy with those sedative injections. You’d think that after 12 years he would invent a tranquilizer gun he can use from a distance.
How did Jessica and Trish even stay friends through Trish's party girl pop star phase?
Vido is freaking adorable.
The real twist was Malcolm and Trish hooking up.
I really liked Jeri’s fuchsia velvet chairs and Malcolm’s end of season makeover.
Why is there always an asshole prison guard?
I’m starting to think that Foggy and Misty are the most well-adjusted people in Marvel Netflix Universe.
and Trish....
what did they do to Trish??????????
S1 Trish: competent, capable, one half of supportive female friendship, doesn’t have powers, but still jumping in there and kicking ass, confident, recovering addict, and wasn’t in the shadow of her super-powered sister because she had her own independent things going on.
But here’s where it gets cray cray: S2 Trish succumbs to the shadow.
and while I understand characters are flawed and complex, it reduces what made Trish “special” in the first place.
Has she displayed envy of Jessica’s powers? Yep, sure. Everyone wants to be special.
Is she young, pretty, popular, famous, rich white lady with a scope of influence that 99% of the human population will never reach? Uh-huh, you bet.
And somehow this isn’t enough for her, which I can almost believe, but she then cold-cocks Malcolm, kidnaps Dr. Karl (a man that experimented on people against their will with unpredictable outcomes) behind Jessica’s back, and is willing to undergo a procedure that might destroy or kill her for a chance...A CHANCE of getting powers. She risks losing everything, her relationships, her family, her life for the possibility of some random unknown power? WTF, who is this woman?

Things I don't see enough people talk about in Jessica Jones Season 2:
Jessica and Malcom:
• From Jessica calling Malcom her associate and them being all cute and smiley about it to telling him he is trading one addiction for another (drugs for sex) and that he needs to save himself first - which prompted their breaking off their friendship.
Jessica and Jeri Hogarth
•Hogarth telling Jessica about her ALS and only her vulnerability.
•Jessica telling she hasn't changed, physically, that is - because yes, her intentions did seem pure when she wanted to save Karl to help more people. Jessica telling her this, even when she knows Hogarth knows it deep inside her but helping her face the truth sooner than later.
Mother and Daughter relationships
Jessica knows that this monster isn't her mom entirely but she also knows that somewhere her mom is still there and when Trish's mom goes back to blaming Jessica for Trish's condition and calls her mom as monster she simultaneously defends her mom and calls out Trish's mom for her years of abuse when she says "My mother has brain damage. What's your excuse?"
How Trish can't let go of her mom even if she knows she was abusive and she has the means to do so- like when Trish asks her mother to hold her hand in hospital.
And the power both these mother daughter relationships have to events happening in the show is acknowledged by Detective Costa when Trish is in hospital recovering "We only get one mother. That's a powerful bond, no matter how batshit crazy they might be"
Karl Malus
Reminds of Jessica telling Kilgrave parents "they tried playing God" and that is exactly what Karl did.
While I still believe what he did is unethical with Alisa and Jessica, I also cannot deny he had good intentions and his actions showed that- when he saved kid Eric, continued to live with Alisa and tried to find cure for her dissociative rage episodes (agreed, scientific curiosity was a factor there but, it wasn't just that)
And that is why he even shoots himself - he knows that he cannot stop these experiments because even if he has good heart that doesn't negate the harm.
Kilgrave's shadow
It was nice to see how Kilgrave was very real for others as well - be it in the first support group in S1 or in the season with Costa and how that is why he trusts her. How he tells her, his nightamares about holding his own guns and seeing his colleagues and friends doing the same stopped when Jessica killed him.
Trish on finding and defining who she is:
Since Season 1 we have seen how she wants to be a suphero to help people, people like her and then in Season 2, in one of the later episodes she says about "living with an abusive mom and superpowered sister" and I understand that. Did she go the right way about it? No.
I see people saying she didn't use her privelge of being white, having fame and money and here is where I disagree. Because she did. She did use the Trish Talk show to talk about things that matter to her like super heroes, their mental health, how they were made, midland circle- but ratings dropped and she was pressured by people abover her. She couldn't do a more direct rebellion because people still see her as Patsy and she still survives on that image (as seen by paparazzi still calling her Patsy), even if she hates it. She needs to be independent to stay away from her abusive mom, which she did until her mom came and told her about IGH. So no, I will disagree when yall say she didn't try other means to help peope.
And even if Trish can't see how badass she is aa human alone, Jessica does she does tell her that "You alone almost bought down IGH with a sparkly dress and a wig" but Trish cannot see that because she is not who or where she wants to be.
Now going back to S2 moments Trish showed who she wanted to be:
•"I don't wanna be with Griffin. I want to be him"
I want to do what he does. Have a platform to be heard on things Make a difference.
•When she wakes up and the first thing she does is call Jessica an asshole for stopping the procedure and says "You piss this powers when you could use them save people who need help" when you could embrace it and do so much more goes unsaid.
But her mom, Alisa does say that to her which brings us to.
Alisa Jones helping Jessica embrace who she is
She was a victim in this as much as anyone else.(not to say when she attempted to do things the right way, she was regularly abused by Dale)
Having experiments conducted on her without consent, having to live away from her daughter who believes she is dead because if she was with her, she could be a threat to her.
Only way she survived it to some extent is besides understanding what Karl did and his support is that she accepts who she is, wholeheartedly. Even the dissociative rage episodes and murders she commits during the episode. She accepts that part of her.
And embraces Jessica to do so when she says to her, "They will always feel less than around us" and then telling her "hero is not a bad word. It just means someone who gives a shit and van do something about it." and when Jessica denies, "You do. You do and that is why it hurts so much"
And when she hears Costa's message - she realises she has to let Jessica go because if she is wanted fugitive, there is not a lot of chance for Jessica to be hero, is there?
But you could see the happiness she felt when she saved Vido or that family in a car accident with Jessica, and making plans about who all they could save on future. Hope for how she could use these powers for good now that she doesn't have to live in secrecy as everything about IGH is out and the person whose secret she was protecting is dead.
Jessica NOT letting others define who she is:
•When she looks into the glass and tells her reflection and Kilgrave she is better than her mother or him because she stopped before it was too late. For someone like Jessica who hates and is afraid of introspection and what she may find on doing so, her to say this while looking ather own reflection - beautiful.
•When she tells this to Trish who is angry at Jessica for stopping the procedure, "I didn't ask for the goddamn powers nor your judgement on them. I am tired of being in centre of your insecurity i didn't ask for"
•When she doesn't looser shit at Chang and says, "I am going to do my job because I am a good PI"
•This interaction between her and her mother:
"You are my cure"
"Don't put that on me"
and finally, scenes/quotes that were so so freaking emotional that I had to pause to drink water or cry:
•"The line keeps moving. I keep stepping over it. How far is too far?" - Jessica after threatning Eric's life in front of his father to know about IGH and Karl.
•"I don't want to be alone" to Oscar
•"You have a hole in your soul and I have one in mine, lets not use each other to fill it" - Malcom to Trish
• This scene between Jessica and Trish
"I lost the only family I had. Again."
"It was always gonna end that way"
It didn't have to be you. It didn't have to be you. "Because now all I see when I see you is the person who killed my mother"
• And obviously bouncing the ball against the wall for anger management scene.
Overall, I loved the show and I think not having one villian made all the character more grey and complex and it was interesting to watch their layers and unravel the meaning of their actions and choices.

AKA Start at the Beginning JJ Spoilers Ahead
Thoughts
-Damn I forget how strong Jessica is sometimes. The way she crushed that chair doe.
-Poor Trish can't escape her "Patsy" past. That costume doe. But to demean herself at a kid's party?
-Ok, now it makes sense.
-Yay! Illegal Jessica and Trish move night!
-Meaningless sex? lol What happened to Luke?
-Ooh. Cue hot Asian guy.
-Oscar, the new super, is kinda cute too. So much new eyecandy! :D
-Ugh, Hogarth. What is the point of this character?
- "She practically did a split on my desk." Wow, Hogarath. Pam really can do so much better than you.
-"What is this crap on Jessica day?" "No. That's next month." :P
-Wonder who Trish's new stalker could be..
-Stalker apparently uses inhaler. Random or clue for later?
- Jessica toasting to her dead family- "To not missing you someday." :( My poor drunk baby.
-Damn that Cheng stealing Jessica and Malcolm's clients. >.>
-Seriously, Cheng? A taser? -_-
-First Jessica was "involved" with a British guy and now so is Trish...this can't be good...
-Stalker guy is Simpson? Not too surprised.
-Seriously, Hogath? You're gonna help that asshole PI put Jessica out of business?
-Wow. Whizzer actually is a super.
-No! Her brother's ashes! Damn you, Whizzer!
-lulz This chase is so Scooby-Doo.
-RIP Whizzer even though we only knew you for like two minutes. So I'm guessing someone is hunting down the others that were experimented along with Jessica one by one.
-So Hogarth is terminally ill?
-Malcolm's kindness toward Jessica is very sweet as always. He really does take care of her.
-Gross monster-faced guy appears in Jessica's flashback.
All in all, good start to a new season. :) I'll live blog the rest of the eps soon.
