This is really hard for me because Lily and Remus have always been my favorite characters, but I genuinely think Sirius is the best character in the Marauders.

I could spend hours talking about him, but I feel we don’t discuss enough just how smart and self-aware this boy was. Even as a kid, he never believed in the blood supremacy his parents tried to instill in him. At eleven, he became the first Black in history not to be sorted into Slytherin. That in itself was an act of rebellion and bravery. He was incredibly brave from such a young age, and he always found pride in not being like his family.

"Sirius had taken pride in being different from the rest of the family."

We don't know for sure if he was physically abused by his parents, but we do know that he was 100% psychologically, emotionally, and verbally abused.

Sirius talking about Regulus to Harry: "He was younger than me," said Sirius, "and a much better son, as I was constantly reminded."

Walburga's portrait in Grimmauld Place: "Youuuu!" she howled, her eyes popping at the sight of the man. "Blood traitor, abomination, shame of my flesh!"

And there's more, definitely more. Sirius is one of the strongest characters in Harry Potter, along with Harry himself. He found a family in James for the first time in his life, so it’s ironic that he would later be accused of killing the person who opened his home to him. He spent his life carrying his last name like a burden while trying to prove to everyone and himself that he was nothing like his family. And in the end, it didn’t matter, because he was still accused of killing his best friend and being just like the rest of the Blacks. He tried to keep Harry safe, giving him to Hagrid along with his motorbike, and still, he spent twelve years in Azkaban for a crime he didn’t commit. Even after he got out, he was never entirely free, but he was just... full of life, even when the Dementors and Azkaban tried to take it from him. He was so willing to fight, so willing to live for Harry and protect him with everything he had. He never stopped loving, never stopped fighting for what was right.

I hope he knows everything was worth it, that his sacrifices, struggles, and unwavering loyalty made a difference. That he showed Harry a glimpse of what real parental love is, that he was loved... that his little brother loved him so much and never judged him for leaving, even when he missed him like an aching void that could never be filled. I hope he knows James never blamed him for what happened, and that Remus never really hated him.

In the end, I just hope he knows that he was loved deeply, missed profoundly, and remembered always as a brave, loving soul who showed people around him what it means to truly live. To those who mattered, he wasn’t remembered as the criminal son of the Black family, but as a loyal friend, a devoted godfather, and a beacon of hope. He was not just a survivor of his circumstances but a hero who rose above them.

My favourite character, and this might not come as a surprise if you have ever seen a single one of my posts, is Evan Rosier.

Obviously Evan doesn't appear much in canon, he's just a name and one of Moody's anecdotes as an auror. I have lots of headcanons about Evan, lots of them are shared with @futurequibblerjournalist because we spend a lot of time yapping about Rosekiller. Here is some stuff about my Evan.

I write Evan as being very reserved usually, he's quiet and prefers to observe those around him, to watch and pick up on the little details about people to store in his mind for later. He has a thousand mile stare which unnerves some people and he is terrible at eye contact, preferring to look over someone's shoulder which makes them feel uncomfortable. Barty finds this funny when he watches people constantly check behind them when talking to Evan.

Evan is autistic, his special interests are the human body (specifically teeth and bones which he carries in his pocket and will take out and put on the table mid-lesson), the French Revolution (because the Rosiers being French is very important to me) and 1950s B-Movies (his favourite is The Blob) but also enjoys films like Martyrs and Idioterne (The Idiots) because he finds the controversy fascinating.

Evan fell in love with Barty without realising he was in love with him in 4th year, but there was always something different about the way he felt about him before then. It was in the summer between 4th and 5th year that he came to terms with his sexuality when talking to Pandora at 2am on night. By the end of September in 5th year, him and Barty were together. Barty makes Evan feel seen, like he's not just some quiet freak who makes everyone uncomfortable. They balance each other out and Barty becomes the only person other than Pandora who understands Evan's needs if he's non-verbal or overstimulated.

I think that's enough about Evan for now, I need to save some headcanons for future posts.

chat they're letting me rant about sirius black again 🙏🙏

i have such a special place in my heart for that mf. he's been my favorite for years and years now, and i have loved watching how the fandom has developed and fleshed out his character. i genuinely think he is one of the most interesting and tragic characters i have ever encountered - spending your entire life running from your family, doing absolutely everything to rebel against them, only for everyone you ever knew to immediately assume you were just like them, after all. and that's just baseline what happened in the books - i am obsessed with his backstory/fanon storyline, from fleeing the abuse of his parents, becoming james' brother, his complicated relationship with his own brother, his struggles with mental health, The Prank (and how it was impacted by everything mentioned above, oh i could go on for days), and of course his literal soul-crushing, star-crossed romance with remus. i know he's like. one of the most mainstream marauders characters lmao but i STILL feel like we don't talk about him enough - especially with the newer focus on other ships/characters (which i LOVE, do not get me wrong), i feel like his depth and potential as a character isn't always explored. alas i am obviously biased because i am him, he is me, we are each other, but i will literally be talking about this man until i am blue in the face and i don't think i will ever stop writing about him

I'm gonna have to go with Regulus (or at least my perception of Regulus)

I see him as sort of a coward, but he still finds his own way to hold strong to his values and ultimately do the right thing, despite most everyone in his life having different views.

He treats Kreacher with kindness and respect when everyone in his close circle would say he'd ought to treat him with cruelty (even Sirius). And then obviously he goes off and does the whole locket switch-a-roo behind everyone's back, and I just think there's something beautiful about doing the right thing, even when you don't stand to gain any benefits or recognition from it.

Does he always make smart, healthy choices? No. Do I still absolutely adore his character? YOU BET I DO!

my fav character is dorcas!!!!

she's the iconic revenge-for-love, powerful, free spirited, murderous, witch ever. and i love her for it. her growing up in a small apartment block in belfast with her dad and she goes to work with him to construction sites and sits there with a hard hat and her fake hammer, always surrounded by people. then she goes to hogwarts and gets sorted into slytherin, but she's a halfblood that grew up in a muggle environment and her roommates won't befriend her so she becomes alone for the first time in her life. and as the years go in she does start to befriend a very accepting girl in ravenclaw and her quiet, studious friend, then his much louder stoner roommate, and a nerdy guy prone to violent outbursts. but they tend to just sit alone together, never chatting much or being there for each other, and dorcas is still very much lonely. but she starts to develop a rivarly with a gryffindor girl, in quidditch and classes, which only gets more and more intense until they end up 'hate' snogging in the changing rooms. and dorcas starts falling for her more and more, despite still supposedly being enemies with benefits. but marlene was always braver of the two, and she asks her out on a date to which dorcas vehemently agrees. and they start seeing each other more and more and fall in love and slowly become inseparable. and as school ends, they passionately join the order together and live together and adopt dogs together. and both of them believe with all their heart that they will get through the war unscathed, they have trust in themselves and the order to win. but marlene goes home for a family gathering one day, and never returns and dorcas is alone again and she can't cope with the grief and begins to hallucinate marlene's ghost, who's angry and vengeful and feels dorcas with the same fury until dorcas is hooked on avenging marlene's death with a passionate need to kill all of the death eaters, no matter what, and no matter if she dies in the process.
