That's not very hashtag Christlike of you.
___
JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. In this Bible story, Jesus is passing through a town when a blind man starts begging for His help. At first, the crowd tells the blind man to be quiet, but when Jesus hears his simple prayer, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!" He asks for the man to be brought to Him and heals his blindness. 2. It's funny to imagine a crowd of people who follow Jesus turning and telling a poor blind person to shut up while he's calling out for aid. Maybe they thought he was just nuts. Maybe they thought he was just being rude. In this cartoon, they just hate the blind, which is just the highest of larious.

Exodus 22 - God continues giving Moses the law; to day He reminds Israel that they must not mistreat foreigners living among them because they themselves were foreigners in Egypt. That seems to be a very timely phrase for us to ponder during the current administration.
Mark 10 - When a young man asks how to follow the Lord, Jesus suggests that he sell all he has and follow Jesus. The man, who is rich, goes away sadly, and Jesus observes how hard it is for rich people to move their eyes away from earthly profit to seek out riches in spirit from the Lord.
Psalm 72 - David sings a prayer for the King, and then blesses the Lord.

Mark 10:17-31
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[d]”
“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”
The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[e] to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
d. Mark 10:19 Exodus 20:12-16; Deut. 5:16-20

When the Words Still Sting
Thoughts on Things Like Divorce, Jesus, and Wrestling With Scripture Honestly By LONNIE KING This will shock some of you out there, even those closest to me, but I have a ‘confession’ to make: I still read the Bible. Well…more accurately, I still read a Bible app on my iPhone. I just don’t have the same desire to let everyone know I do it that I once had. And that’s probably because I…

Ransom
45 For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” As a follow on to Pheme Perkin’s discussion about ransom (lytron) and its meaning as the price paid to free a slave, Matt Skinner offers additional insight: Jesus’ mention of a “ransom” indicates that his death will be more than just an inspiring example or a martyr’s tragic protest against…

Honestly this gets at my chiefest complaint/frustration/discomfort with fandom as a whole. Which is: in their rush to defend the artistic merit of fanworks I think a ton of people have really valorized transformation and remixing and reinterpretation in and of themselves, when imo those are all quite neutral actions. When done well, they can expand and build upon and subvert meaning in really powerful and thought-provoking (and fun!) ways. When done poorly, they are just as likely to flatten and oversimplify and decontextualize and completely erase meaning. The simple act of changing something does not imbue the choice to do so with creative validity. It is entirely possible for a cover song to be bad (or just boring!). To exactly the same degree that it is possible to transform a pretty shallow and straightforward work into something deeper and more nuanced and subversive, is possible to transform a work into a vastly shallower and less interesting shadow of itself. As with nearly everything in art, it's all about the execution!
But the second you voice this position (which should honestly be a pretty uncontroversial one imo), you get people shrieking at you about being gatekeep-y and pretentious and betraying the sacred fandom etiquette of Don't-Like-Don't-Read.
And like...listen. I was not raised in a barn. I am 150% capable of quietly back-buttoning out of a fanfic I think is bad or boring - which is exactly what I do when I encounter them - and I am obviously not advocating for stupid ships wars or any kind of harassment or leaving hatemail in people's AO3 inboxes. (Which some people will also accuse you of the second you say anything less than lavishly positive about fandom, in true piss-on-the-poor fashion.) Literally all I am saying is that you can't have your cake and eat it too - that if fandom and fanworks (in the broadest sense) have artistic merit then fandom and fanworks (in the broadest sense) are fair game for artistic critique. Which means, in practice, that I can go on my own blog and make a post exactly like this one - critiquing broad trends, or stating that some interpretations are bad actually, or pointing out that subverting or talking back to or reading against the grain of canon is very different from simply ignoring it, or saying "fandom's culture of collage/remix/fuck-canon-I-do-what-I-want can lend itself to to really creative and interesting art but also to a lot of really bland homogenized cut-n-paste art, not to mention some pretty troubling decontextualization." And that if you feel this rains on your personal parade, you are then free to DLDR by back-buttoning out of my blog and/or blocking me so you never have to see my hot takes again, rather than clamoring in my notes about how I should let people enjoy things.
#i am enjoying myself! if my preferred mode of fannish engagement is different than yours you can go nobody is stopping you#i'm just tired of people acting like chucking canon out the window only ever leads to beautifully subversive queer romance#just as often it leads to people chucking out anything unique or challenging or thought-provoking in the original text#in favor of making two personality-less background white guys kiss to the tune of plot beats we've all seen 10 billion times#i'm not even condemning anyone for enjoying a tropey low stakes romance sometimes!#but i AM allowed to observe that fandom has a marked preference for tropey low stakes romance#over (eg) touching ANY canon engagement with imperialism with a thirty foot pole#and to like. draw some critical conclusions about that lol#fandom#my posts

I just want to assure my younger followers that, yes, the lead up to Iraq was virtually identical and just as transparent and stupid in its attempts to manufacture consent in the general public.
AND IT WORKED. BOTH TIMES.

Exodus 24 - The covenant is confirmed, and Moses climbs Mount Sinai to retrieve the two stone tablets that will become the Ten Commandments.
Mark 10 - Jesus is the new covenant. Today, He heals the eyes of blind Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus is healed because of his faith.
Psalm 74 - The Psalmist moans because he is assaulted by his enemies, and he begs the Lord for help. The image reminds us of the ultimate help given to us by God.

On the Severance podcast, they talked about this scene.
Adam and Britt were emotionally wrecked during the filming, which lasted most of the day. They couldn’t stop crying. When Ben Stiller walked over to give Britt notes, his eyes were full of tears while watching them.
Britt: “I remember it being an emotional day. The lights were low. It created a mood. It felt like there was an ending coming. It felt like we were working on this show for 4-5 years. I couldn’t stop crying. This was a goodbye scene.”
Adam: “I remember looking at the computer screen, and then I finally look over at you, Britt, and you were just a wreck — I felt very connected to you. We were just really in it. We were just really in the show. And it was our whole lives. This really meant a lot, this moment, we had to fucking… say goodbye. It was so sad.”
Britt: “It felt like time travelling to me. It was time travelling back in time and forward in time. At the same time. Imagining the first scene we ever shot at MDR. And then time travelling and imagining the last scene. And then it’s like I’m sixteen, now I’m my age, now I’m seventy…”

Advent, coming to serve
Today, December 3, is the first Sunday of Advent, the four weeks before Christmas Day. Learn more in this post.
The Advent season is a four-week period before Christmas that celebrates the anticipation and coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. The origin of “advent” is from the Latin word adventus, which simply translates as “coming” or “arrival.” “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” MARK 10:45, ESV The Holy Bible, English…

Eve, Kate, Mark and Rex! Nailing some ideas down on how I wanna draw them in the future, and enjoying messing with their designs like usual! Not a fix-it whatsoever just fun + ref for the future! I cannot do realistic styles so translating them into something I can do while still being recognizable is peak. I will mess with Rex's suit more. Trust. I Kate so much now. Look at her <333333

Midnight Reflections: The Union God Intended
It’s a special moment I’m sharing with you during this midnight prayer session. I’m here to talk about something that’s been on my heart for a while, marriage and relationships, as God intended. The Midnight Connection In the Bible, there’s a powerful significance to midnight prayers. Stories from the Psalms and the Torah describe profound happenings at this hour.
