Deadpool and Wolverine might actually be the best love letter to Marvel that I’ve seen.
On a meta level, the movie feels like it was written in response to people dismissing the Marvel properties that aren’t the MCU. The MCU is the “Sacred Timeline” while everyone else gets thrown into the trash aka the Void. Wade even tried to become an Avenger because he feels that his life doesn’t matter. Then, Wade gets a chance to join the MCU. Of course, he’s thrilled, but is then told that the rest of his universe is getting destroyed since they lost its “anchor” (aka it lost its relevance). So, Wade decides to fight for his universe.
On a surface level, you can read this movie as a criticism of the MCU in that it’s treating the only stories worth a damn as the ones coming from that universe. But I don’t think that’s the case. I mean, first off, this was made by Marvel Studios. Feige and Co had to sign off on this and a great deal of the plot stems from the Loki show. Second, the movie felt more like it was trying to say that ALL Marvel stories matter. It’s not really criticizing the MCU, it’s criticizing how audiences view the Marvel movies/shows that aren’t the MCU. The “why should I care about this movie if it doesn’t lead to the next Avengers movie” attitude.
That’s why I say this was the best love letter to Marvel I’ve seen. It’s a celebration of the company’s works, both MCU and non-MCU. You can see that from the Easter eggs, the cameos, the nods to the fandom, and the emphasis on forgotten characters getting a chance at redemption. Even the jabs at the company and fanbase feel like they come from a place of love.
But what really sold me on this movie being a love letter to Marvel was the ending. Instead of a tease to a potential De4dpool movie, it was a montage of the development of the Fox Marvel movies (I can’t say X-Men since clips of the Fantastic Four were there). On one side, it’s a touching send-off to the Fox X-Men franchise. On the other side, it felt like a reminder of why people love Marvel to begin with. It’s these people - actors, writers, directors, producers - coming together to make these entertaining stories for us, to bring the comics to life on the big screen. It’s like Ryan Reynolds was telling us to take a step back from all the conspiracy theorizing, nitpicking, and fanbase drama for a couple of hours, that we should just enjoy this Marvel movie as it is.
And it worked. It was genuinely just a fun, awesome movie to watch. If we’re using the MCU-as-a-TV-show-analogy that people love using, Deadpool and Wolverine is the 100th episode that is made dedicated to the fans and celebrating the show as a whole. It’s a fanservice movie done right, one that goes beyond just references and cameos.

While I was sick I had the idea that since Bob is a recovering addict, I think you can say the most off-the-wall shit and it won't phase him especially when you are sick. So obviously I had to write something with this concept.
=================
Since Bob no longer had the ability to get sick thanks to Sentry he made sure to stay and take care of you until you were fully recovered of the nasty cold you picked up. he would've done that even if he could get sick
You’re curled up under a mountain of blankets, eyes half-lidded but your brain firing off in all directions.
“The cats,” you mutter, voice raspy, “they’re running the zoo again. I saw it on the news… or maybe it was a dream. But they’re definitely in charge. I bet they’re wearing tiny little crowns.” Bob, sitting nearby with a glass of water and a worried but amused look, just nods along. “Right. Totally. Cats with crowns. Makes sense.”
You roll your eyes but keep going. “And… and I don’t think hippos are real. Like, they’re made up. Just big, fat rumors.” Bob raises an eyebrow, trying not to laugh. “Okay… how much cold medicine have you taken?”
You grin weakly. “Not enough. I’m still conscious.” He stands, reaching out to gently tuck the blanket closer around you. “Right, okay well… I think it’s nap time.”
You groan, but your eyelids flutter shut as Bob flips off the lights before laying back down with you, his voice soft. “No royal cats or imaginary hippos allowed during nap time.”

Do you think that the Worst Wolverine's universe had, like, an Amber alert Emergency alert (I have been educted)for him, when he was on his revenge rampage? Like there wasn't a whole lot the police or say the military could do, that's implied I guess, I don't think there's a lot people could do to stop an angry Wolverine, especially not a heartbroken one.
But what the government could do is alert people if the Wolverine was in their area and to stay the hell indoors
And then I can't help imagining the Wolverine becoming the boogie man for some kids, like that's gotta be horrifying, you've had an alert of the TV or the radio, everyone is scrabbling to get inside somewhere, minutes tick by
Silence, except for a few whimpers and murmers from terrified people. Then he comes into view, walking on all fours, sniffing intensely at every little thing, his eyes catch you in the window. There's no humanity there, just an animal in his hunt, searching for the ones who took his family from him.
Anyway, Wolverine alerts, my new headcannon I guess
:)

With the snap, I wonder how many timers/alarms kept on beeping without anyone there to turn them off. How many cakes burned in the oven. How many TV’s continued playing. How much music still blared on stereos, how many lights were left on. I wonder how many kids rushed home from school, how many people from work, so relieved when they find life still going at home, only to realize its because no one was there to turn it all off. I wonder how long it took for people to start wandering into their neighbors houses because the same song has been playing on loop for days now, only to realize the whole family dusted. I wonder how it felt for someone to take a road trip and drive through a town thats completely dusted, not a soul around, except everything is still on and running, because theres no one there to turn it off. A world still so loud and bright and awake… yet half of the people are gone…

I have to talk more about Thunderbolts*, I HAVE to. I saw it for the seventh time today holy shit
Before seeing it again, I had a session with my therapist. I mentioned Thunderbolts*, which I’ve mentioned it before, and I was talking about how excited I was that I was seeing it for the seventh time because it was so good and the mental health representation is so good. We started talking about that, and I basically explained the plot of the movie, and Bob’s struggles, and the Void, and all of that, Yelena’s arc, etc. My therapist is amazing, she kept asking questions about the plot and the Void and the shame rooms to make sure she understood well enough to follow along. She even let me show her a YT video of the final scene with the Void vs Bob.
Then my therapist asked me what about Bob and the Void resonated with me. I talked about certain quotes from the Void that stuck with me:
“Are you tired of fighting? Let me help you.”
“It will always be just us.”
Thunderbolts* and its representation of mental health basically led the entire session. That’s never happened before, where a movie’s mental health themes have guided a full hour long therapy session, except MAYBE Inside Out 2.
This movie is SO special. I’d be willing to bet that the movie has probably saved a few lives. It enriched mine and has made me feel seen and understood. It came at the perfect time- it came out the day college classes ended for me and I saw it the weekend I came home. I have treatment resistant depression and I have episodes that vary in severity typically every few months. The last month of this past spring semester I was in a severe depressive episode that had me wondering if I would need to be hospitalized again (I’ve been hospitalized for mental health multiple times). Thunderbolts* hit me so goddamn hard in the best way. It simultaneously gave me hope in life again, unearthed my fangirl side and my fanfiction motivation that had been dead for over a month, and gave me a new hyperfixation that has made me feel fulfilled and alive again.
This movie unfortunately hasn’t done well and is going to lose marvel millions of dollars, but the goddamn thing sparked an entire hour long conversation with my therapist and I almost started crying when talking about certain lines from the Void- like Marvel LISTEN:
You created a fucking goddamn MASTERPIECE that has healed and helped and SAVED so many people. PLEASE know that. You’re losing money, fine, I get it. But PLEASE don’t ignore the flood of positive reviews and responses about this movie- and please realize that you have helped so many with this beautiful story. I think about my mental health and my depression so much differently because of Bob and the Void. This movie is GORGEOUS, and it is so so special to me.

The Winter Soldier and What If
God I keep thinking about how "What-if" treated my guy Bucky and I get so mad
It's not just the using stucky plotlines for steggy shit, it's not just keeping Steve's importance for Bucky while erasing Bucky's importance to Steve because God forbid Captain America has a homoerotic Patrochilles type relationship, it's not just the captain carter mess, all of which I can and will probably scream about some day
The one episode where everyone comes together in the 80s to deal with Peter Quill, God, I love me some winter soldier, like full on asset mode (as an audience not as a person God let this poor man be free), but everything with how they treated them drove me insane
Firstly, Carter and Stark immediately recognised the Winter Soldier as Bucky Barnes, despite him having his mask and eye shadow on, which is bullshit. In CATWS, Steve, of all people, only recognised him once his mask and goggles came down and his full face was exposed. Not to mention, neither Carter nor Howard were on the field with the Howlies during WWII, they spend very limited time around Bucky. If Steve didn't recognise him immediately, there's no way those two would have.
Secondly, and this is a mild issue I have, but they call him "Bucky": only Steve ever did, and later with consent, Shuri and Sam (haven't found the time to watch Thunderbolts yet so this might be outdated). This is a childhood nickname; in any other capacity, people called him Barnes, or at most, James. What the hell lady, you have not earned the proximity to call him Bucky.
Thirdly, after Carter says the Winter Soldier looks like Bucky, Stark immediately states that "Even if they're true, the man we knew is long gone". The shock is minimal, there's no confusion, just utilisation. There's no guilt or regret for not looking for him, for failing him. They're using the Winter Soldier to achieve their target, no different from hydra.
And this actually would have been understandable if it weren't for the next point: during the climax of the episode, Winter gets a clear shot of Quill, but his comm is intercepted by Stark, who proceeds to talk him out of it BY TALKING ABOUT STEVE. AND THAT BREAK HIM OUT OF THE COMMAND. This is 1, hypocritical, you say this man is gone but then you use this man's relationship to stop him from your target 2, this doesn't make sense, again as seen in CATWS, it takes a lot to break the winter soldier program: Steve repeatedly called his name, was literally face to face with him, and only after all that, and saving him, and "I'm with you till the end of the line", that led to the tiniest bit of clarity, enough for him to save Steve. You're telling me that the Winter Soldier broke programming just by Stark saying a name he at that point, did not recognise?
And lastly, NONE OF THEM WENT AFTER HIM. They have confirmation that he still has some degree of the consciousness of Bucky Barnes, and his actions during the mission indicates a lack of previous memories, and he still is the world's deadliest assassin, so on multiple levels, both professional and personal, they should have looked for him, but NO ONE WENT AFTER HIM. They're just content with "the winter soldier is out there". WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Seriously, I just... hate what if so much. There are MCU projects that I don't like but this one, I just... despise. They missed the mark so badly. And the biggest blunders happen to be my guys.

Is it just me or are the current marvel projects not actually that bad?
I liked brave new world, I enjoyed the marvels, and I enjoyed quantamania.
They weren't perfect but they were enjoyable, like movies should be.
Maybe as a person who got into marvel post Endgame I just wasn't there for the best so I appreciate the less than.
Like I'd love more movies like the thunderbolts but I wouldn't mind more brave new worlds or even love and thunders.

An Ah-ha Moment
So I'm watching marvel movies to help do some research for my fanfic, specifically The Winter Soldier right now. I had a realization, maybe people already noticed this maybe not. Well when Steve and Nat are at Sam's place they talk a bit about how they're each feeling with the knowledge that S.H.I.E.L.D. has become Hydra. Nat states that Steve seems fairly chipper considering what they just found out, and considering that he basically 'died' for nothing. And she's totally right. During their conversation Steve actually has a bit of a smirk on his lips, and there is a hopeful light in his eyes. Up until now his expression has been serious and flat, morose even. Steve responds with, "Well, I guess I just like to know who I'm fighting."
Earlier in the film Steve talks with Peggy about how lost he's feeling in the modern political climate and how he feels he doesn't know who the bad guy is any more. But now knowing that the bad guy is Hydra, that puts him back into familiar territory. He's done this before. He knows who the bad guy is, it's Hydra, without a doubt, and he knows how to fight them. This is probably the most normal and 'at ease' he has probably felt since he woke up. He's fought this war before, sure there's more advanced weaponry, and Hydra is much farther spread, but it's still Hydra. He's beat them before, he knows that he can beat them again. All he needs is the right team, an new set of Howling Commandos if you will. He's home, and he has a true and defined purpose.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Haha

What if too much matter and anti-matter absorbed into Wade's and Logan's bodies and they couldn't touch each other anymore. But they figured out they can hold hands like this
