If mash hadn't given exact dates for certain things, then doubled back on those dates by years, by seasons, both of the show and of time (seasons like spring, summer), then I don't think the mash time loop theory would hold as much credence as it does. But as they did commit the mistake of giving specific dates to times, they fall into the time loop even more easily. The very nature of the show adds to it in the first place. The things they say, about have we been here before? Cue laughtrack. It makes it relatively simple to say yeah this is a time loop. There's more of course, the intrinsic cyclical nature of sitcoms/dramedies and eternal recurrence when it goes on along as mash, as an explanation for the consistent inconstancies in the timeline. And of adaptations being timeloops, having been a book then movie then show, this really has happened many times before. And there's also something to be said for the characters, and how they act about it and how this has happened before. How that is part of the war, it being repetitive and consistently purgatorial, it feeling as though they are stuck with no escape day in and day out, the same surgical theater, the same dirt ground, the same olive drab. It feels like a time loop to them, in not a real sense, but a metaphysical one. So they break up the monotonous horror with whatever they can. Much like how a person would act in a time loop, doing something anything they can to change the outcome they know will always occur. But maybe this time, they'll get out of it.

I've been going through the Sunny scripts in random order and got to a deleted scene from PTSDee and just...seriously there is a lot to unpack about Mac having dreams about seeing his best friends (whom he knows experienced previous trauma from csa) breakdown over further trauma only for them to shoot him in the face.

Is he dreaming about it because Dennis and Charlie were talking about their stripper incident and he just picked it up in his sleep?

Or is this a subject that's been rattling around in the back of his mind and all the recent stress brought it to the forefront?

Does he feel unconsciously guilty because, despite being the team's "protector", he was completely unaware of the trauma his best friends experienced until they were all grown adults? I mean, that's got to weigh heavy on him.

All this to say, I get why they cut this scene but also: why did they have to cut this scene? I love this episode a lot but in a better world, this episode would've been a 45-minute special for all the stuff cut out.

A fic that made me smile:

There's quite a few, I think, but one that comes to mind is Bedtime by rakketyrivertam. It's only a sentence, but Soundwave having to parent the Stunticons in G1 is such a cute idea to me.

A fic that made me laugh:

Gosh, I can't think of any. There's definitely some out there, but I just can't think of one!! I read too many angsty fics. Sorry to dissapoint there.

A fic that made me tear up:

Toronto, Ontario by findinggodwithajuicebox (hiii @mainenorth). It's such an interesting look into grief and how Wildrider would react to something so drastic happening to him. I don't tend to cry or tear up often, but this one. So good.

I don't often see Wildrider having the main focus of a Stunticon fic, and having it be something so emotionally intense for him is so so nice to see. The fic itself is short but they managed to fit so much emotion and grief into it in such a captivating way. Agh. Easily in my top 3 of angsty fics to reread.

A fic that's sweet and fluffy:

Secret Santas Sneaking Stealthily in Stunticon Spaces by dinobotglitch. I'm not the biggest Christmas fan, but it's so cute and sweet. Stunticons always deserve so many gifts and happy moments.

A fic that kept me on the edge of my seat:

We All Fall Down by babyblueavenger, and Heavy Toll by Radio Rascal. I know you've read We All Fall Down but GOSH Heavy Toll. Ough,. It's so good, and had me worrying and so interested in it. I'm such a sucker for angsty Stunticon fics, especially when it's Breakdown. I've reread it a couple of times now, and even with me not liking the idea of mechpreg at all, it's so fascinating to see it in this tone and point of view. I don't want to spoil anything in case you read it, but it's very good in my opinion.

honestly (i say, piggybacking off of @fatedvoyage's post) the fact that so many ships i've had through the years have started as a joke says some...interesting things about me, i guess.

buckytony wasn't a joke, necessarily, but i lost the steering wheel to the bus on that one pretty early on and it's been a [mumbled number of years] since that whole thing even started and they are, by far, my favorite, top tier ship for tony. i love them and their stupid inside jokes and their stupid little domestic life and their stupid little adventures.

a friend and i had a ship for tony and maccready (yes, that maccready) that started out as me testing a romance mod on a tony fo4 playthrough that led to several unfortunate ingame events (you ever try to romance a companion and get turned down because buddy-) that i got laughed at about until we weren't laughing anymore because it was like you know what and still has a special place in my heart umpteen years later just because it existed and was some juicy characterization digging and a...slightly unorthodox take on romance in the irradiated world.

emmrich and zevran, i...i honestly don't have any excuse for that one, i hate that it literally started out as me bullying dean about taking that old man to pound town on a playthrough and he picked zevran and now i hate myself for how much i kind of love?? them??? like i am legitimately mad about it. this was supposed to be for giggles to make fun of dean about, i wasn't supposed to sit here and rotate them in seriousness.

anyway, trip down memory lane to the gazebo we're standing in today listening to zevran's bad pick up lines aside, that's the thing, right. like the ships i still look back on most fondly (like maccready's rper no longer writes on tumblr, for example) or that i hold closest to my heart have a common element of like...we were joking until we weren't? or we tossed out the script (such as in buckytony's case) because the inmates were running the asylum, anyway, you know what i mean?

i do not, under any circumstances, set out to ship just to ship, it's just not my thing, but man when the blorbos click, or they click unexpectedly, that's just. 👌😩 there's a couple here that are starting to veer into that territory and i'm sitting here nose pressed to the window like SICKOS_yes_HAHA_YES.jpg over it all.

sometimes your blorbo points at the idiot blorbo you were making fun of and says that one, and you're stuck with those bad decisions until you gaslight yourself into looking at them as warm fuzzies, is what i'm saying.

If you have a lot of dietary restrictions and/or perpetually low spoons that interfere with cooking, then I can't overstate the return on your investment from figuring what spices and seasonings you can eat, and keeping them on hand.

Physical and mental health issues, let alone in combination, can feel like they're consigning us to a depressing, monotonous experience of the same unexciting foods over and over and over again. But giving yourself the tools to be creative, with very little actual effort — just a shake of a shaker — is actually a lifesaver in terms of preserving the joy you get out of eating.

Rehydrated mashed potatoes from the box are usually the platonic ideal of "meh," but if you just put some garlic powder, rosemary, and/or [spice of your choice] on them, they're suddenly a tasty treat. On the other hand, you can sprinkle some cinnamon on fruit, if that makes eating fruit easier — you can even do so after you directly take a bite out of an apple or peach or pear, if you're not able to cut it up.

The same goes for applesauce, instant oatmeal, and the like — you can always kick it up a notch if it's getting monotonous. If by some coincidence, you're exactly like me and you're allergic to every snack food sold in the universe except plain old depressing rice cereal, microwave that bitch with some oil, salt, garlic, and paprika. It's like 10% more effort than the last few things in this post but so worth it.

Anyways, I bring this up now because I remembered a conversation I had with a friend about spices (and spice racks) being a great things to ask for as a gift, whether over the holidays or otherwise — and especially if you can't think of anything else. As long as it's not a super expensive brand, a couple small jars are in a pretty reasonable price range for gifts, and they can go a long way.

Salt, garlic, rosemary, paprika, cinnamon, and allspice are my mainstays. (Just beware allium or nightshade allergies and similar, if applicable.) It takes experimentation to figure out what you like and what works for you, but it's worth it to make those depression meals a little bit less depressing.
