HI GENE the disgust and emby art you just posted. it just made me remember how in the beginning of the second movie before the new emotions showed up, all the memories that had to do with "embarrassing" stuff were driven by disgust (i'm specifically thinking of like. one memory joy mentions where riley accidentally waved at someone she thought was waving at her LOL. and another where she walks into a glass door.)!! LIKEEE i see it. just know i see it.....

YYYES YESYES EXACTLY !!! iirc disgust was also the one that pointed out that riley's classmates started talking about her when she cried in the first movie as well...so yeas absolutely!! they do have a lot of overlap in the social awareness area it's so fun to think aboute....... and they manage to cover like, different aspects of it especially through their personalities AUGHH they're so silly. I would love to explore more of their dynamic like that. Thnak you for seeing my vision

You are RIGHT about Halloween (1978) and you should say it. I don't watch a lot of horror movies but I watched that one when I was a teenager and I was just so bored the entire time (an impressive feat given that I am remarkably easy to scare). As an aside, after following you forever ago, I learned today that your username is meteorherd and not meteorhard when trying to type your url into my browser so I could send you this ask.

honestly i think the only thing that makes halloween as important as it is is that it set the precedent for slasher films that came after it. and that in itself is a pretty flimsy argument! both the masked killer and final girl trope are arguably present before 1978 in texas chainsaw massacre (which is SO much better than halloween btw imo), and the "killer pov" slasher camera halloween uses was first brought to the forefront in the earlier slasher film black christmas. the only thing that's really interesting to me in it is the score given how quickly it was composed (three days i believe?), but even then, it repeats itself throughout the entire movie to the point it began to annoy me LMAO. anyways yeah i think halloween just got lucky in combining tropes that previous slashers did better to end up setting the precedent for 80s slashers. but it doesn't even have fun with it! idk! 🤷🏾
