Bad Days
"Hey!"
Freija called after the Warlock, who tried to run away from her. "I'm not gonna be mean, I swear!"
The warlock didn't stop, but he did slow down, and he glanced over his shoulder, then let her catch up.
Freija tucked her helmet under her arm as she trotted up, but he still stepped back when he decided she was close enough. "I saw that you were having a bad time, I get--"
The human took off his helmet and threw it to the ground in frustration, then kicked it and screamed. "That whole map was such bullshit-and you! What the hell! Did you really stop to swap weapons twice? What the hell is with the barricade, how are you shooting through it?! That jerk with the sniper rifle had me afraid to resurrect! I told my ghost to leave me down!"
"You know that's against the rules," chided his ghost quietly.
"And my stupid fireteam wouldn't stop giving you guys that stupid hallway and letting you pick us all off like that! It was so--" he stopped to roar wordlessly.
Freija tried to keep a comforting smile on her face, and she fondled her helmet while she listened. "Yeah, sometimes I'm still dog food, too. It's hard. Doing my best and then I'm still picking lead out of my boots at the end of the day." She shrugged. "Obviously, today was not that day, but tomorrow might be. Got mauled for breakfast." She grinned. "Made the comeback."
The Warlock glared at the redheaded Titan and spat. "I'm not making any comebacks."
"Well, no, not if you go throwing yourself off a cliff every time you feel like you're losing," she agreed. "You have to shoot at your enemies and throw grenades to make comebacks."
"I'm not good enough!" he cried. "You guys are too good!" He finally went to pick up his helmet. "How was I supposed to fight back?! I don't even get time to think!"
"I dunno," she replied, shrugging. "I don't like telling people how to work. What works for you is what works for you." She gestured at her Mida Multitool and brushed off her Citan's shoulders. "I get flanked real bad if I'm not careful, and I'm not careful. Tried running Dead Man's for a while, kept looking down sights and getting blasted in the back of the head. Friend suggested this. Finally learning how to reposition in smart ways, instead of going to go shotgun duel with someone probably better at this than me, seeing as they were sneaking around with full intention of doing just that. I'm no good. I wish I was, I love shotguns. I'm learning."
He was staring at her, now, but the shop talk was apparently settling to him.
"Polaris Lance is another favorite," she said, gesturing to the gun on its sling. "I recommend staying way back to use it, especially flanking while your allies hold them from another position. Crouching will take you off the radar. Just keep trying."
She clapped his shoulders between her hands in an effort to be friendly. "I don't know how to say this without it sounding horrible, so it's probably just horrible to say but-- don't throw. Just leave. That wasn't fair to your allies. It's especially bad with the shared resurrection count. You can't clutch if you give up, and your allies can't clutch for you if you dump all their resurrections."
He sneered, no longer settled, and he stomped away.
"Shaxx believes in you," she called after him, and she turned on her toes to see Rise waiting.
"Are you ever not an asshole?" she demanded. "That poor kid!"
"I mean, no, but also he killed himself three times in eight rounds, right after he lost the first rounds of the matches, it pissed me off," she grumped. "He wasn't even on my team, I tried to sit it out after I saw what he was doing. I get sorry sports, but don't drag down your allies."
"You don't like the sorry sports, either! Even on your own team!"
"That doesn't mean I don't understand them, it just means I don't like them."
Rise shrugged. "Don't see what you like about the crucible."
Freija grinned. "Yes, you do, you just hate the same things I love." The grin turned violent before they transmatted to their ships. "Your stomach jumping into your mouth, blood rushing in your ears, barely escaping with your life, all those times where the only thing you can even hear are your own gun and pounding heart."
"And everything is on fire," Rise agreed. "No thank you."
"I'm actually not that great at setting other guardians on fire."
"You sound disappointed."
~
Freija is very much a "git gud" type, but she is also the, "everyone can do anything they want to do, they just have to keep trying" type.
Also, I cannot tell you how fucking bad I was when I started. I'm still shit at control and iron banner.

🍁 what's you favorite weapon you own?
Riskrunner 👏 my 👏 beloved 👏
What isn't there to love about a gun that siphons any arc damage you take to fling it back at your opponents?
For real though I really like things with a fast fire rate. Smgs like riskrunner or this calus minitool Zorra picked up for me, or my beautiful seventh seraph saw machine gun.... man that thing chews through things like you wouldn't believe. I also have a favorite bow I've been using when hanging out with Astor (biting winds with explosive arrows, very fun), tigerspite is my favorite auto rifle and I've been getting a little bit into scout rifles with mida multitool

Allow me to be confused/complain for a moment:
The Leviathan’s Breath was acquired through Banshee. The only person we talked to to get it was Banshee-44. It was hidden away in the tower, in a place that, ostensibly, only Banshee and Cayde knew about. The strike we had to do was The Arms Dealer, to get Red Legion data so we could guess a code made by, you guessed it, Banshee-44. It’s a heavy compound bow, the design of it is reinforced, blue-painted metal. It’s straight-up got a drive chain for a string. It’s got a “Last City” aesthetic if I’ve ever seen one. I can certainly see this being made from scavenged materials and polished into the weapon that it is by our Gunsmith.
So why in the Traveler’s name is the quote on it from Calus?
I’d even take the dog theme without explanation from Banshee, because doggo. But... when, in this entire quest, did Calus happen to show up? I know Banshee is forgetful and getting worse by the day, but really... That bow really ought to have a) been called something else, b) have lore related to the person we got it from. This has been true of every single exotic with a quest before. The Ace has Cayde’s Will, the Lumina has a blurb on the Gardener, the MIDA Multitool has that blurb on MIDA not existing, the Last Word has the passage from Jaren Ward. This makes sense, getting the weapon feels like you’ve uncovered a bit of lore related to the characters that made/are associated with the weapon in question. Not the Leviathan’s Breath, that bow doesn’t have a lick of lore in the tab and the tiny blurb we do have is... not at all related to the character we interacted with to get the bow and will associate with it. This bow doesn’t even have the first thing that betrays a “Leviathan” aesthetic, namely: gilding. Or anything else for that matter. It feels... cheap to just slap a stock-phrase from Calus onto this piece that we worked with a beloved character to get.
I know I’m just complaining, but a quest from Banshee was a perfect time to drop some lore about, you know, the guy that any and all Guardians see at least once per day? He’s been forgetting more and more, any information about that? He’s had so many lives and twice the safe number of reboots for an Exo, any information about that? Any information about the last, meaningfully relevant Exo on the Tower at all?
Apparently not.

Loreperson here, just for THE Guardian:
1: The Guardian has no particular preference, but will hate ice by the end of Beyond Light.
2: They never take off their armor, so that's a problem.
3: Snom. That's just a fact.
4: "What have you got there?" because that was Zavala's reaction when they made their Thorn. And Malfeasance. And Crimson. And Red Death. And MIDA Multitool. And Whisper of the Worm. And... I'll just cut it short.
5: In person, because the Last City has terrible internet. Something about a large object blocking reception. (Oh, and most satellites de-orbited a while ago.)
6: They've never had them, actually.
7: Worm Gods? No. Oryx? No. Crota? No. Atheon? No. Zydron? No. Omnigul? No. Hashladun? No. Ghaul? No. Zulmak? No. SIVA? No. Archons? No. Kells? No. Skolas? No. (insert other boss I didn't mention)? No.
Moose? Yes. Yes, they do. And you should be too.
(that being said, they've only ever seen them in engrams.)
8: Olympics?
9: One word: Hellmouth.
10: Depends on the Guardians class. Warlocks and Titans crowdsurf. Hunters... Moshpit.
Useless Guardian questions I'm asking when I really need to be sleeping instead!
Does your Guardian prefer hot or cold weather?
Humid or dry weather?
What Pokemon type would your Guardian match best with?
Meme format that resonates with your Guardian most?
Do they shop in person or online?
What do they consider tomatoes, fruit or vegetable?
Do they fear the sheer size of moose?
Does your Guardian like winter or summer Olympics more?
Would they enter a haunted house?
Crowd surfing or moshpit?

“Ghost, next song,” Virgina says. She and Betel are in the EDZ, clearing out Lost Sectors for New Monarchy. She hasn’t seen anyone she knows in a while - she spent most of her time at the Farm, even when the Vanguard and Consensus set back up in the Lost City. The Clan network let her reconnect with the old HKMS fire team, and Schirm was…somewhere. There was a certain shame she carried that became too much when Virginia entered the city.
The phrase “They look to you to save them” is carved into her MIDA Multitool. She carries a handcannon lovingly called The Last Skate, and a cloak made of old Titan space suits. Virginia is a collection of nostalgia even as she improves. She’s won in the Crucible, something that happened so rarely in the past, and she’s tried to help civvies with their goals, rather than the other way around. It’ll be a long road to recovery, her dark skin still stained with Red the Legion spilled. But things are looking up. Music blares in her helmet as she runs from sector to sector - Golden Age or not, she’ll be prepared for when the next war comes.

ok, kinda found my weapon of choice in pvp lol. mida multitool. been doing decently enough with it. Obvs i’m still not super great at crucible in general. But i’ve been getting consistent enough final blows to a) help out any team mate in my vicinity, b) survive most 1v1 and the odd 1v2.
Ran the mida duo with dunemarchers to see how fast i could go one match, and it was kinda entertaining. But i’ll def stick to scout / shotty or auto for the most part. Maybe.
Gotten a bit better at FoH, but def not good enough to out do more experienced players. But from watching them wipe me out, i gotta say i’m learning haha.
Was finally on the receiving end of an arc web warlock, and oh boy is that scary :’)

Honestly I'm very proud of this build and the way it works. You barely ever see style of scout rifles and sub machine guns paired together. And Astrocytes verse really pushes this aggressive build.

Crashing
Thomas glanced up when Freija stepped in, gimmicky pirate helmet under a Citan's-clad arm. The guns were presumably dematted, but the warlock already knew it was Mida Multitool and a crafted Explosive Personality and whatever sword she was carrying at the time.
"Have you really been in the crucible literally all day?"
"Yes," she replied briefly, and she collapsed to the sofa. "My body isn't tired, but my brain is toast. I can't think that fast that long."
The warlock kept his remarks to himself and instead leaned away from his word processor. "Any good stories?"
"Uh. Had to starve out a Jotun. Clutch win twice. Bounced a grenade off a wall to get it going the way I wanted it to go almost every time I tried. Finally quit when my allies didn't notice that we only had to stop for a few seconds and we would have won. Pissed me off so bad I left without showering or anything, I probably reek of blood and gunpowder."
"And charcoal," Thomas agreed. "I like it."
"Hosted a comeback. Badass, managed to pop a barricade just in time to block off a Jotun shot, allies got the kill while I ran to recover, got a second one up as they were running back to me, all six of us opened fire down this hallway, I throw a grenade, my barricade went almost immediately but we still got the kills. Ended up in three two-on-threes, one guy quit two rounds in twice and one time the third one just didn't show at all. Won one, lost the other two."
Thomas nodded, but he was studying the Titan where she sat. Her face was slack and her eyes were fixed ahead, and her breathing was slowing and becoming more shallow.
"Status report?"
"Coming down," she replied. "I had to move very fast a lot, today. There were a couple of matches where that was all I could do while my allies took out the opponents. I'm sure I looked silly as hell, but I know I did good."
She grinned. "Literally, one time, was just running in a circle."
After several moments, the grin faded and the Awoken's eyes drooped. "Nah, what it is, is people start getting real fucking strategic, and. Uh, if I take the time, if I have time to take, I'm pretty good at heading them off and taking care of it, and if my allies are really good, they're either on their radar as hard as I am, or they follow my glances well. So we can usually keep them from getting around us. And my launcher is working out great.
"That's good."
"But yeah. I'm brain tired."
Sunny giggled as she 'matted. "We did great, today. Didn't earn as many points with Shaxx's ranking system as we would have liked, but we were facing some pretty tough opponents."
"Yeah, gods, fuck, uh, shit," Freija agreed distantly, and her eyes closed slowly and stayed that way. "Fuck," she repeated, and she put her hands over her face.
"You okay?"
"Coming down," she repeated. "I died a lot," she added. "Think that does some sort of long-term damage to our brains?"
"I think you're just stubborn and don't like thinking much," Thomas teased. "Any physical sensations going along with it?"
"You interviewing me for a book?"
"Uh. A little." He smiled toothlessly at his roommate. "Though?"
"Uh. Hands are. Tingly?" she said, and she held one up to show him some mild trembling. "Heart still. Doing the thing. Flutter. Brain feels. Like. A muscle you've worked really hard and are stretching out, I guess?"
Thomas nodded sagely and made the note, and he sat back again. "Good day?"
"Good day," she agreed. "Got a girl's number, butch Titan lady, cute as hell. If she swings your way and we don't work out, I'll direct her to you?"
"Maybe?" Thomas agreed.

MIDA multitool is the only one I can think of. Dismantle 5 scout rifles.
Hello! I was wondering if there was any quests on Destiny 2 that needed to have players dismantle certain weapons to advance in quest steps? I’ve been collecting quite the stock pile of each weapons type! Also the same with armour as well?
I’ve never heard of quests requiring you dismantle stuff. Unless there’s something new with BA I don’t know about, the things you get for dismantling are only needed for upgrading weapons and armor.
