I can’t stomach the pregnancy plot line wi the dan and Amy so whenever I’m forced to accept canon I literally just pretend it’s one big misunderstanding trope where Dan is under the impression Amy thinks she has feelings for him because he happens to be the father of her unborn child and he’s doing what he thinks is the right thing to do to get her back to normal

the veep writers did such a terrible job with that plotline (as did they with most of the danamy characterisations in season 5-7 - like HELLO mr armando iannucci would never have done this to us!). and it is such a shame because there was SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE. like highkey danamy co-parenting and then slowly falling back in love again, bickering over diapers and daycare all the while stressed on the campaign trail would have been SO ICONIC. like sorry i just picture like ross and rachel vibes??? like we could’ve had all the co-parenting stuff and all the funny moments that would come with that!! like amy being stressed out of her mind in the delivery room, dan being his annoying self but also being very supportive when she’s in labour, dan being OBSESSED with her and literally moving in to amy’s apartment because he wants to be close to his baby (and he rlly wants to be close to amy too - she doesn’t believe him when he says this, but he wears her down…) and she always falls asleep before him, and he covers her with a blanket, their slow reconciliation over the span of many episodes, amy being a little insecure about not being maternal enough, but dan always reassuring her that they’re both fucked in their own way and if anyone’s going to fuck up their kid, it’s him- and she tells him, if he fucks her up even a little, she’ll set him on fire - and he tells her SEEEEE you are a protective mother after all!?/!!:: she says she hates him (but she doesn’t, not really, nor at all)

not to mention - the reactions of all of the STAFF??? picture this; gary acting like there’s too much fuss about this damn baby what about selina etc like he doesn’t care at all until BOOM she’s born meghan is here and she’s cute and adorable and he’s always offering to hold her and look after her, and selina being completely uninterested and annoyed at this disturbance to her campaign, mike trying with the baby and always making her cry, dan and amy finding this shit hilarious, like????)
