2020 - Having the GALL to ink this Covid-era HELLBOY sketch by the master himself, Mike Mignola, and apologizing accordingly! 😄

During the pandemic several years ago, the Previews catalogue order form cover printed this Mike Mignola pencil sketch of Hellboy wearing a face mask (the cover to his beautiful book collecting his quaratine-era sketches) that I instantly knew I had to ink as soon as I saw it, for the sheer fun of it!

Of course, having the audacity to do so, I obviously also knew I had to apologize profusely and immediately to the man himself, both before I began, as well as when I finished and signed my name next to his...! 😬

Here’s a Hellboy commission from a few years ago. I think they requested Hellboy in an Aztec setting. This was like the 2nd or 3rd color commission I used airbrush on, I think I had to redo this like 3 times because I kept messing up with the airbrush. I thought when this left my house I wasn’t very happy with it, but looking at it now it’s pretty cool. A lot of times when I get a commission of a character I love I feel like it’s my one chance to give them my everything . Sometimes it happens other times maybe not.
