Music video director (Billie Woodruff) stated that everyone (except Aaliyah) was all from Virginia and it felt like a family reunion to him to be reconnected with everyone. They wanted to give the music video a feel of how VA rolls and decided on a funhouse approach.

"So I had wanted it to be creative and cool and have a vibe, and the music had that kinda eerie feel. So it was just some things going on, you don’t know what it is, but it’s just like, “Oh what’s this over here?” So it’s like a funhouse, but you don’t totally understand everything, kinda". - Billie Woodruff

The song itself charted #1 on the Billboard US Hot Rap Songs, #4 on the Billboard US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
