Where Loyalties Lie - Ch 57: My Very Own Family

After his joyous reunion with his rat dad, Leo's entire family - Splinter included - happily showed him around his new lair home, ending in the big circular rec room where they started, with the living room entrance off to one side, and four other rooms along the walls up on top of the skateboard ramps, each concealed behind a different colored curtain.

One red curtain.

One orange.

Another purple.

. . .

And one blue.

And that was where they were standing now - directly outside the blue curtain concealing a surprise behind it, as the very last stop in his lair home tour.

"I want to show him!" Mikey blurted out with excitement, bouncing on his heels.

"Scoff! Most of the work was done by yours truly, which means I shall have the honors," Donatello objected.

"Nuh uh, I worked harder than anyone," Mikey firmly objected.

"That's right Mikey, next to Raph, of course," the snapper proudly replied.

"Hey! I did just as much work as you three turkeys!" April firmly objected in an offended tone of voice.

Leo snickered at the sibling banter and Raph scolded: "Guys, quit it, we're not gonna argue about this!" Then he proudly pointed to himself with his thumb and added in a much more pleasant tone of voice: "I'm the big brother, it was my idea, so I'm the one who's gonna show Leo!"

"You're idea!?" April yelled in anger.

"Oh no you don't!" Mikey barked out. He jumped at Raph and wrapped both arms and legs around his much bigger arm when the snapper reached ahead to pull open the blue curtain.

Leo watched with amusement, as next Donnie innocently whistled in the background while discreetly sending out one of his patented tech claws from behind his back; but April caught him and pulled out her baseball bat to thrust it at his nose and sternly ordered: "So help me Donnie, if you as much as touch that curtain I'm gonna get the whoop out on all your tech!"

Leo smiled as his siblings began pushing and shoving each other in a joint attempt to be the first one to do the big reveal while stopping each other from doing the very same thing. Then he leaned in toward Splinter - who was groaning and looking thoroughly unimpressed - to ask: "Are they always like this?"

"This is nothing, you should have seen them last Thanksgiving when Purple invented an automated turkey carver and accidentally knocked out the lights when a drumstick hit the breaker. Ugh, I was picking turkey out of my fur for a week."

"Thanks. Giving. Huh. I think I heard about that, it's when you give stuff to turkeys or something, right?" Leo commented, not knowing what a 'stuffed turkey' he heard of was or having a very good grasp of human holidays; and wondering if the Thanksgiving turkey was in any way connected to April calling their bros 'turkeys' just now, while he quite happily watched the entertainment happening before his eyes.

"Uh, not exactly," Splinter replied. That was when he put an end to the fighting by yelling: "Boys, and April that's enough!"

Everyone froze in their tracks, staring at Splinter, with Raph reaching up for the curtain, Mikey hanging onto his big arm with his mouth wrapped around his wrist that he had been gnawing on, one of Donnie's tech claws pulling back on one of April's buns to get her away from him while she was grabbing his tech shell in one hand with her bat raised, trying to climb over his shoulder and about ready to knock the other Extend-a-Claw reaching for the curtain right off.

Splinter gestured to the wildly grinning Leo with both hands and suggested: "Perhaps we should allow Blue to have the honors."

"Uh, yeah, good idea, pops," Raph commented, just before Leo happily said: "Blue, hey? It seems I'm gonna be getting a lot of nicknames around here."

His siblings stepped back so they weren't standing between him and the blue curtain door, and they watched with eager anticipation as their red-eared slider brother limped up to the curtain on his crutches and pushed it aside to reveal his new, fully furnished bedroom.

The slider's eyes sparkled with appreciation as he gazed around at everything his family had lovingly put together for him.

On the opposite side of the curtain door where he was standing, Leo saw a white shelving unit pushed up against the back wall that would be the perfect place to start a new human knickknacks collection; and then he turned his head to the left to see a dresser he didn't know yet was half full of warm clothes.

"Is this all for me?" he asked in wonder.

"Yelp," Mikey said proudly.

The slider next turned his head to look to his right at his brand new bed with a blue comforter on top...

...and prominently displaying on top of the comforter was the white unicorn stuffy with a golden horn and rainbow mane and tail that he had been cuddling into and weeping on the night he went out to buy some needed essentials.

The unicorn he had to leave behind, because he couldn't afford it and his inner Hamato honor in combination with rubbing elbows with his hero brothers swallowed up the tiny voice in his head trying to convince him it was ok to steal it.

Leo didn't take his eyes off the special surprise waiting for him, and he limped up to it on his crutches and tentatively reached his right hand out to stroke the rainbow mane, before pulling back, almost feeling like it was a crime to touch something so precious, as though it couldn't possibly really belong to him.

(After all, Draxum would most definitely never permit his warrior creation to have such a thing, so even if he could have afforded it he knew from the moment he laid eyes on it that it would never really be his, because he would've eventually had to leave it behind in that cold hospital bedroom when his owner called him back)

When the realization finally settled in that all of this was his, the slider laughed to himself, and then turned his head to gaze at his smiling big brother and happily tell him: "I knew I was being followed! I told you you're stealthy for a big guy!" "Heh, yeah," Raph happily admitted, a little bashfully.

The warm family moment that Leo thought couldn't get any better did when Mikey eagerly ran up to him to wrap his arms around him in a hug and asked: "Do you like it!?"

"I love it!" Leo happily replied, before hugging him back.

Then everyone, even Splinter, got in on the event, with each and every one of them thoroughly enjoying their complete Hamato family group hug.

And Leo didn't think his life could possibly ever get better than it was right now.

~Not Long After~

It was very late at night, April already went home to bed because she had school in the morning, and Splinter likewise went to sleep because it was too late for him and they had training in the morning. Meanwhile Leo and his three bros were still awake hanging out in the rec room, kicking back and relaxing after their long night.

The slider who was new to the human world was perusing through the human side of the internet on his very own cell phone that Donnie had given to him, looking up pictures of different types of human food. Specifically meat.

Donnie was on his tablet working on some software for the tech leg he created for Leo; Raph was flipping through funny videos on his phone; and Mikey was sprawled out on the floor reading one of his many JJ comics.

"What's steak?" Leo asked, after finishing looking up what turkey was from his conversation about Thanksgiving with his dad.

"Cow," Raph told him without looking up from his phone. Leo hummed in acknowledgement and after scrolling through a few pictures of cows he decided he was ok with eating the meat of that particular animal (unlike chicken, like the cute little hens he fed on Robert and Mariko farm).

That was until Donnie pipped up: "Look up veal."

Raph shot Dee a dirty look but didn't say anything, and after typing that in and seeing photos of baby cows, Leo's eye widened from surprise and he loudly blurted out: "You EAT that!!?"

With a sly grin, Donnie looked up from his tablet to suggest next: "Look up lamb chops."

"Donnie!" Raph chided at his fact-and-prank loving brother, at the same time Mikey glared at him in anger.

But Donnie couldn't help but laugh out loud when Leo sat up staring at his screen, wide-eyed in surprise at the extremely cute the little critter called 'lamb' that was used for food.

"Who would EAT that!!?"

He flopped back on a blue beanbag chair that was already there, waiting for him when he moved in, let his phone fall from his hand onto the floor, and grumbled: "That's it, I'm only eating pizza toppings and seafood."

"Look up..." "DONNIE! NOT HELPING!!!" both Raph and Mikey yelled at him in unison.

Leo merely glanced in their direction before letting his head fall back on the beanbag chair to stare blankly at the ceiling, thinking about the yokai-human amalgamation of food he had eaten at Hueso's, and mumbled: "At least there's nothing wrong with pepperoni."

"Piglets," Donnie quietly said while staring at his screen. He couldn't help but snicker with the angry glare Raph shot him, and against his better judgement Leo picked up his phone to type the word 'piglet' into his search bar.

As soon as saw what they were, he flopped his arm down to let the phone fall to the floor again, and then slapped both hands over his eyes to groan loudly and whine: "Don't tell me that's pepperoni!"

"Technically the adult is made into pepperoni, but that's what the babies look like," Donnie factually offered.

In reply, Leo glared at his intelligent brother and imitated their two other brothers when he sternly said: "Donnie. Not helping."

But that got everyone - including Leo - laughing, and the slider wondered if living with his very own family would always be this great.

~At the Foot Clan Lair~

Draxum was standing proud and tense, with his hands clasped behind his back while gazing at the partly complete Kuroi Yōroi before him.

"So you are telling me an entire clan of trained Foot soldiers couldn't stop a one-legged mutant from escaping without his prosthetic leg?" he sternly inquired.

The two Foot commanders - Hawk and his brother Ox - watched on nervously from behind his back, with Hawk coddling his broken arm, before clearing his throat to confidently reply:

"Yes Baron Draxum, but I assure you, I have my recruits scouring the city for him as we speak!"

Draxum whipped around in anger and aggressively demanded: "You mean those useless idiots who couldn't stop one little turtle from escaping with his inept family of untrained BUFFOONS!!!"

"Uh..." Hawk and Ox lowered their heads. "Yes, those recruits," the former shamefully agreed.

"We need his Hamato essence to complete the ceremony! It is the only way to stabilize the currently volatile and dangerous dark energy hidden within the armor!" Draxum aggressively informed them. "I sent him here, working for you idiots to keep him close to the dark armor that infected him so it would sever his mystical connection with his Hamato family and what do you do!?"

He dramatically stepped ahead, Hawk cringed and pulled back, and the furious yokai (who never did any wrong in his own eyes) yelled even louder than before: "You put his life in danger with his unlawful arrest, and now you've turn my obedient slave against me by treating him so insolently you not only permitted but encouraged his escape! An escape that would never have happened if you weren't so arrogantly overconfident you didn't put up the proper securities to ensure your base wasn't infiltrated in the first place!"

The Baron grabbed Commander Hawk, aggressively thrust him up against a wall, and loudly yelled in his face: "Do you have any IDEA what the Hidden City POLICE would have done to him if they didn't run his SLAVE TAGS before it was too LATE!?"

"N-no, Baron, I was raised in the Western Cavern City, I'm not familiar with Hidden City slave laws," Hawk nervously informed him, referring to an underground hidden city on the west coast of the country, where slavery was illegal.

A devious grin came across Draxum's face and he calmly said:

"How fortunate. For me."

He let go of Hawk so that he fell to the floor with an: "Oof!" and glared down on him while calmly but threateningly saying: "I suppose this also means you are unaware of the laws governing the use of contracted slaves?"

"Yes, Baron, I only know what was included in our contract."

"Excellent."

Draxum turned around to walk toward the Kuroi Yōroi and proudly gazed up at it for a moment, before raising a hand to snap his fingers, prompting the chief of police and a large squad of Hidden City police officers to storm into the room, armed and ready for a confrontation.

"What's this?" Hawk demanded.

Instead of replying, Draxum exercised his legal rights as a slave owner who had been wronged by a contracted secondary owner.

Incidentally, in the Hidden City if a secondary owner broke one of the many slave laws or breached a slave contract in any way, the primary owner had the right to take matters into their own hands in whatever way they saw fit, in front of appropriate sanctioned witnesses (in this case the Hidden City police). But if the secondary owner formally objected before those witnesses, the matter would be taken through a lengthy court case.

Although the cops could be bought with a price and the slave auction house was owned by Big Mama, the courts were under the control of the Council of Heads, who had been sending spies in repeated (failed) attempts to infiltrate Draxum's home to try and prove he had been unlawfully attacking fellow yokai who got in his way, and to expose his mutagen work to find some legal grounds by which to publicly strip him of his title and run him out of town.

But the Baron was good at covering his tracks, and he had a wide array of yokai followers the world over who were at risk of causing an uprising if they couldn't find solid, valid, legal means of stopping him in his work.

Meaning if Hawk knew the specific wording of the one and only appropriate way to formally object to Draxum's next words, the matter would have been taken directly to the Council of Heads, who, although initially were the ones to bestow the title of 'Baron' upon the intelligent warrior alchemist, now hated Draxum and would do anything in their power to make his life more difficult.

"Due to your many breaches in our slave contract, I will be exercising my legal rights to procure a new slave for myself," Draxum calmly notified the current head of the entire Foot Clan.

He turned his head to look at Commander Hawk from behind his back, and sternly told him: "You."

"What!? You can't do this to me!" Hawk yelled aggressively, with spit flying out of his mouth.

With a devious grin Draxum narrowed his eyes in anger, coldly told him the words: "Oh, I very much can," and then turned around to gaze at the Kuroi Yōroi once more, while calmly informing him: "Being your new owner and master, naturally all that is yours becomes mine. Meaning I am now head of your pathetic little band of ruffians you dare to call a Foot Clan."

"No!" Hawk yelled.

"I will take your brother as well, as an additional compensation for the loss of my useful slave," Draxum dryly added.

"What!?" Ox blurted out from surprise, not knowing that he also had a legal right to formally object.

Draxum turned his head to slyly grin at the big buffoon with the prideful words: "Wrong answer."

Immediately, the two brothers were rushed by the Hidden City cops and held down to be shackled in chains, giving them the same treatment they gave to Draxum's slave, Leonardo, when he was carted off by them.

There was quite a bit of cursing, aggressive yelling, and threats of retaliation on the part of Hawk and his brother, but in the end they were disgracefully led away, with Draxum instructing the police chief who remained behind: "After you've had your fun with them send them to Big Mama as a gift from me. And ensure your officers do not take things too far, I guaranteed they would be in fighting condition within the week for her Battle Nexus." He abruptly spun around to glare at the griffin chief and very sternly told him as a threat: "I trust I can depend on you this time, unlike yesterday when you came dangerously close to torturing and killing my very own personal slave and creation!"

"Yes, Baron, I guarantee you they will be delivered to Big Mama's office in fighting condition before the end of this day!"

Draxum narrowed his eyes in anger and let out a cold: "Good. And make use of your many contacts to hunt down whatever remaining pieces of the dark armor you can find while I dig up some useful warriors to aid in the search."

"Yes sir!" came the reply.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have an appointment with an annoying spider to procure the use of her mystic train."

The police chief respectfully bowed to the Baron and took his leave, just before a portal opened up in the room and Draxum stepped through, to barter with the likewise devious Big Mama for use of her mystic train, to transfer all the pieces of the dark armor to the necessary location for an important moonlit ceremony when the time was ripe.

i'm curious if mike/finn in your desired realities got jealous about someone before because you're close with them or for other reasons! can you tell us how he acts and what he says when that happens?

finney doesn't get jealous a lot, he's super chill and laid back and we're not really dating?? aside from all the romantic tension we have to endure during filming certain scenes. so like, he has no particular reason to be possessive over me, especially since he knows i'm a naturally affectionate person ^^

though, there are very rare moments, like that one time i gave caleb a little kiss on the cheek once when we were hanging out because he complimented my outfit n was being so sweet!! i couldn't help it :c

he didn't do anything immediately, but i did soon feel his hand snaking it's way onto my thigh and giving it a light light squeeze akhsjshd

that same hand later moving around my shoulders to pull me against finn's chest so i could watch him playing minecraft pe ( also so he could whisper to me about how pretty i look today, totally not trying to outdo caleb on the compliments )

"you look so pretty today"

"yeah bambi, i know"

"i'm telling you again because you need to hear it from me"

"oh?? but caleb told me pe—"

"oh my god shush and accept the compliment.. you smell really good. stay here for a little bit"

my dear friend mike wheeler, on the other hand, isn't so chill about it, nor is he very subtle. y'know for a guy who's generally really shy, he's super possessive over me and it's so funny to watch him, his ears burning redder and redder until he bursts

i was talking to jason carver because he was talking about how good i was at cheer rehearsals and i got super blushy and giddy because hello!! i love love love it when people compliment me on my hard work it makes me so happy :c

it just so happens though that lil ol mikey had just been dismissed from his final period and was on his way to pick me up, since we had plans to head to the arcade after school that afternoon! and when he saw me going all gooey from jason's compliments he did not hesitate

our little convo was interrupted by him calling out to me and nodding his head in the direction of the exit. jason was about to speak up again but then mikey fuckin held my wrist n said in that soft voice that i really like "rose, c'mon let's go" and i just gave in and told jason we'd talk another time ^^

"what was that?" i asked as we were walking to the arcade

"what was what—"

"that? that whole thing, that was weird dude"

"i just.. we need to get to the arcade! there might be a lot of people n stuff.."

".. oh my god you're jealous! mikey you're jealous of little ol' jason!"

"ro, no i was not, okay? i was just worried like, what if he like.. what if he asked you to hang out? then you'd ditch me and i'd have no one to go to the arcade with—"

"okay okay, one, gross. jason and his friends are nice but they stink and have trash taste, and two, i would never pass up another opportunity to beat your score in frogger!! hello??"

I know I have a hc post about Robbie’s musical VC and stuff but I changed it a little so here’s the updated shit.

While still taking some influence from Candlemass, Robbie’s band ends up more like My Chemical Romance.

This means that Robbie’s musical VC has changed to Gerard Way. Idk, I just think it suits him a lot better.

The song ‘I don’t love you’ ( from the black parade ) is about Jason Carver ( @jockprophet )

The song ‘The ghost of you’ ( from three cheers from sweet revenge ) is about Eddie ( @cultesdesghoules ) only in the events that Eddie dies instead of Robbie ( mostly to reference the music video where Gerard’s brother, Mikey, is killed. )
