I really enjoy looking at Donatello's characterisation - especially the 2012 version of Donnie.
I don't know why, but something specifically about the 2012 iteration of our favourite brothers draws me to them. Maybe it's because I think they have the most interesting and unhealthy brother dynamic to explore out of any version of the Turtles. But just to say right off the bat, I don't agree with the statement that Raphael is abusive toward Mikey in this version. I don't think this to be true at all.
But in the 2012 version of Donnie, I think it's the obsessional aspect of his character that I find interesting. People flame him hard for it - which is very valid - the way he treated April was very creepy, and some of the things he did April had no knowledge of, (Like Donnie taking a photo of her and having it as his laptop wallpaper). But I like doing a little more when it comes to characters' less-than-ideal traits. Yeah, what they're doing is bad, creepy, etc. But why exactly might they be acting that way?
For Donnie, I think his problem is how he looks.
In the 2012 iteration, we never really see the turtles have a strong desire to be human. Mikey sometimes doesn't understand that humans will be scared of him, but he never lashes out and has a big moment like, 'I want to be a human so I can make more friends!' We see Mikey wonder what he'd look like as a human in an episode after Donnie creates retromutagen - with Mikey assuming if he used retromutagen on himself he'd turn human and not back into a regular turtle.
It is played as a joke, though, and he doesn't seem genuinely upset by the fact he's stuck as a turtle, as he is seen smiling after saying he wondered what he'd look like.
Interestingly enough, Donnie is the one to be portrayed as having a negative view attached to being a mutant more than any of his brothers.
Outside of being a mutant, it is implied that Donnie already has a fragile self-image anyway.
Remember the episode Turtle Temper? I think it's the third episode of the first season. But at one point, the other turtles are instructed to shoot arrows at Raph, while Raph has to try and avoid the arrows. Splinter makes it clear, however, that Mikey, Leo, and Donnie are allowed to insult Raphael during the exercise.
I've seen another content creator say that the insults they throw at Raphael could be more them self-projecting views they have on themselves rather than them actually thinking these things about their brother. Leo says, 'And you're always whining, poor me, nobody understands me.'
While this is easily applicable to Raph as an insult from Leo - Leo does have his own fair share of moments where he has gone to Splinter complaining that the others aren't listening to him or respecting him, that they don't understand the burden he has to hold as leader.
Mikey tells Raph he moves like a bloated buffalo - which, although never hinted at in the show, could imply that maybe Mikey is insecure about how much he eats. Maybe his brothers have made comments about his greediness.
Donnie says, 'Oh! You can't keep your back straight during Omote kote Gyaku! And you're ugly!'
I think the first part is interesting as Donnie is the tallest out of his brothers - gangly limbs could mean Donnie has more difficulty knowing how to stand, how to sit, so on so forth. A lot of tall people can feel really awkward as a result of their height.
Donnie most likely is sat over a desk all day, and again, being tall, Donnie has more of a slouched posture out of his brothers. I think it was Karai that also insults Donnie in an episode by calling him scrawny, in which he responds, 'And I'm not scrawny! I'm svelte!' Svelte meaning slender and elegant.
Raph has also insulted Donnie's looks before in an episode, and again, it is unclear if this is a common occurrence, but knowing 2012 Raph's character, it's probably happened on more than one occasion.
Donnie : And why do you keep grabbing me by the face? What is wrong with my face?!
Raph: Do you want me to list the reasons alphabetically or in descending order of grossness?
So regardless of being mutated or not, it seems Donnie just has a generalised lack of confidence and some issues surrounding how tall he is.
But to his issues regarding being mutated.
Donnie might've previously not had any issues with being a mutant. Before, it might've been just a general lack of confidence, as I have already said. But in society, looks are always seen as a good trait to possess if you want to have any shot at a love life. You need to fit into the beauty standards and be attractive if you want a partner.
Before April, his brothers would've been the only thing to compare himself to. He lived in a home with only mutants for fifteen years of his life - so had normal teenager issues of going through puberty and insecurities. A lot of people can feel odd/uncomfortable and dislike their growth spurts, which is why Donnie's issues at first might seem like normal things for a teenager to worry about. Donnie's biggest issue would've been how scrawny and lanky he saw himself.
But when they meet April, there is a glaring difference.
Suddenly, there is somebody in his life who isn't a mutant like him. It becomes abundantly clear to Donnie that from somebody else's standpoint, their biggest issue with him wouldn't be his tooth gap or his height, but just the plain fact that he's so different. Inhuman. Out of the ordinary. A mutant.
When he's rambling to Timothy (Mutagen Man at this point) about why April might be on a date with some punk kid (Casey) the conclusion he resorts to is, 'Because he's human, that's why.'
At the end of the episode A Foot Too Big, when Donnie apologises to April, he says, 'I'm just... a mutant.' Again, this shows Donnie jumps to the conclusion that this is why April doesn't want to be with him, not his overbearing nature or the fact that she just genuinely might not be interested. The problem in Donnie's mind is that he's mutated.
The fact that Donnie used the word 'just' implies that being a mutant is all that Donnie has boiled himself down to. He thinks that his other traits aren't worthwhile or good - like him being funny, smart, inventive - because he thinks that nobody would pay attention to those aspects of his personality. At the end of the day, he thinks nobody will be able to see him outside of being a monster.
In Fungus Humungous, the hallucination of April that Donnie experiences calls him an 'ugly mutant freak'. It is unlikely April actually thinks this of Donnie, but it's what Donnie thinks she does because it's his biggest fear. I'd like to split Donnie's hallucination into two parts. April insulting Donnie about being a mutant, and Donnie's hallucination of April kissing Casey.
We see April kissing Casey. I think the fact that this part of the hallucination comes second is meant to represent this fear of rejection and insecurity surrounding being a mutant are two sides of the same coin. His fear of April choosing Casey is a by-product of his main insecurity. We are shown April calling Donnie an 'ugly mutant freak' first. Donnie isn't afraid to lose April as a person to Casey. He's afraid of losing his only hope at feeling confident to Casey.
In the first half of the hallucination, it shows that April uses a sharp tongue like a whip.
This tongue is shown to go through Donnie's heart and subsequently breaks it.
"To have a sharp tongue" means to be quick to criticize, speak harshly, or make cutting remarks; essentially, someone who is often unkind or sarcastic with their words.
I think this represents that, over anything, it is April's words that break his heart more than her actions. It is her disgust at him being a mutant that shatters him. It's what makes him crack in the episode. He starts screaming, runs away, and shouts that he, 'doesn't want to hear anymore.' This is Donnie's breaking point. Her sharp tongue and words, over her actions like kissing Casey, that is Donnie's true biggest fear.
Donnie doesn't want to be with April purely because he loves her. To Donnie, it would be more than April simply making a choice on who to partner up with. It would be confirmation for Donnie that the issue all along was because he's a mutant.
The point I'm trying to make is that Donnie is more obsessed with trying to improve his own self-image than he is obsessed with April as a person.
He wants to use April as a means to prove someone could love him despite appearances because, as I said earlier, looks are important to a lot of people. Gaining a romantic partner would most likely grant Donnie the confidence, the consolidation that he 'isn't ugly after all' because someone managed to fall in love with him. That is why he so desperately chases after April.
He chases after the feeling of confidence.
His character kills me.

All timeline Mikeys easily manhandling their gf/wife. How often and why they'd do that👀
Manila!Mikey would do it the most often, this version of Mikey loves the physical control aspect of your relationship, and given just how easily he exercises control over people, and just how easy it is for him too put people down physically, it's extremely likely that, that would be relatively abundant in the dynamic that you two share. One of the things that he's notorious for doing is grabbing at your hair when you have an attitude and try too walk away from him, he really doesn't like that. So he'll fist at your hair and bring you back towards him, pulling your head back as asks you too repeat yourself for him, and when you don't, he'd tell you that it'd be best if you drop your little attitude now, before something worse happens. He'd also be very into pinning you down and taunting you, you must not when him too get off you because you're not even trying too push him off... oh, you are? Well you're not very good at it, and he knows that's not the case, Manila!Mikey or just Mikey in general is insanely strong and you not being able too push him off, is no big surprise and he thrives off you struggling under him.
With Bonten!Mikey though, it's not often and he doesn't really. Now don't get me wrong, he's still got a bit of strength but.. he's very malnourished and under-weight. So, manhandling you isn't super common with him, mainly because he kinda can't. That's why he sticks to guns now, because he's not able too exercise the same strength he used too when he was younger and more up to par with his martial arts. Now, if he's pissed with you, he tends too grab at you, mostly grabbing at your shoulders or arms and holding you their, but even then, it's still not that hard, it only hurts because his hands are relatively big and he squeezes tight, so the spot that he's squeezing will start too become sore and it'll start too hurt you.
Kanto!Mikey though, he's a force and he's insanely strong and he's also in relatively good health so he's very physical with you, and I rarely mean in the affectionate way. He's very big about exercising just how much stronger then you he is. Now, he's intimidating enough, so he doesn't have too physically handle you often but it's not rare either. He's pretty big on forced submission, as in, he'll make you sit at his feet and he'll pet you.. like you were a prized pet for him. He's very big in making it known that you are beneath him and that he's stronger and obviously you know this but he likes too keep you on a rather tight leash, not literally, and he wants too keep that in your head that you can't stop him. He's also really into grabbing you up, like if you're throwing, as he calls them, a temper tantrum. He'll grab you up by the arm as he leans into your ear, in a scarily calm voice, he tells you that you need too, "behave or you'll find yourself crying on the floor."
But with Street Racer!Mikey it's only in a playful aspect, he likes too play-fight with you it's actually really fun, because while yes, he is stronger then you, he still lets you pin him down and get on top of him as he pretends too struggle with you, and while you know he's pretending, it's still fun as you guys giggle about and there's a struggle with each other while he pins you down and tickles you. Sometimes that leads too quite intense sessions as he has your hands pinned above your head and you're breathing heavily as he stares you down, his eyes starring you down as they're lidded and he's grinning your face as you squirm under him.
Toman!Mikey really likes manhandling you, he gets quite the thrill from it and you makes it even better when you lean into and playfully provoke him. It's more affectionate with him in a way as he'll hold you to him and keep you their, right against his chest. He's very big in physically leading you, as in he'll grab you by the hands and pull you with because when he has you, and when he's able too be with you, when he's not working, he likes too touch you as much as he can. With this version of Mikey, he's also still pretty strong and pinning you down or picking you up is rather quite easy for him. He likes too grab you by the face and get your face as he squeezes your cheeks together as gives you a peck to your lips.

Congratulations!!!!!
Tokyo Revengers, Mikey
letter N
Naughty: How would they punish their darling?
Mikey does his best not to lose his temper with his s/o. He’s either ominously quiet, or obnoxiously affectionate to avoid being harsh on you.
It’s not very hard to piss him off; you can easily make him jealous by talking to anyone who isn’t him, make a rude comment you obviously don’t mean, etc.
If he feels like you needed to learn a lesson, he makes sure to give you a chance to redeem your mistakes. “Last chance y/nnchin… take it back…. You won’t? … fine.”
Unlike Izana, Manjiro doesn’t have the heart to hurt you. He would kill anyone who dared to lift a finger against you. He protects you from everyone, especially himself. He might have trouble controlling his dark impulses, but he refuses to let you be amongst the casualties.
Everyone else, however, is free game. Your closest friends will begin disappearing, your immediate and intermediate family befalling unfortunate accidents… everyone who you associate with will begin to avoid you or curse you for the things Mikey has done or will do to them.
Manjiro tries not to kill people if he can. He can and would, but he prefers to give you a chance to fix your wrong doings before he punishes you so deeply.
An example, if you tried confronting him about these disappearances, and try leaving him as a result, you’ll be soon be faced with a younger sibling, screaming and crying for you to help them. Mikey has their leg under his foot, pushing down hard enough for a bone cracking snap. “Last chance darling~ say you love me or break the other one…”
His eyes are void of all guilt, the child’s curdling wails for help sending you into such an extreme shock, you can’t deny him.
He knew you didn’t really want to leave him, you just forget what leaving him would mean.

2003 Raph Diagnosis
I went back and forth on Raph for a long time. I did consider a few diagnoses for him but here’s the thing—he doesn’t meet criteria for any of them. Either he doesn’t have all the symptoms or the symptoms he displays resolve.
See, a huge difference I noticed between Raph and his brothers is that the effects of what they’ve gone through don’t stick around with Raph like they do his siblings. Naturally, I started to consider why.
Simply put, Raph has more of what we call resilience than his siblings. Resilience in terms of psychology means that he bounces back and adapts to change readily.
Does this mean he didn’t have a reaction to the trauma they went through? Not at all. But Raph’s responses are receptive to change.
After they’re forced out of New York and his brother is hurt, Raph weeps (with support) and expresses his anger. He also devotes himself to helping his brother in a very productive way; they fix his swords together and discuss what happened while they do so (though we only see some of this). They PROCESS it.
After the battle on Ch’rell’s ship, Raph once again expresses his rage but then finds a productive means of healing—in this case, he steps into the leadership role Leo is struggling with and becomes a voice of reason for his brothers.
His means of helping are directly connected to outcomes of the trauma. This allows for continued processing of emotion even when it doesn’t feel like it. Raph is able to really accept and handle all the emotions their crazy lives give them.
Important to remember not everyone exposed to trauma gets #PTSD or a long trauma response. Only about 17%. Raph appears to fall outside that statistic, surprisingly.
As odd as it might seem to say, I think Raph’s anger served as a protective factor for him and I’ll tell you why:
Anger and Sadness are alarm emotions. Part of their purpose is to alert our support systems when we need help. Sadness is a much more subtle alarm but anger is loud and blaring.
Because people know Raph has temper, when his alarm goes off, they respond. When Raph is struggling, he has the support to work through things. Raph is also practical—not logical, but practical. Once his anger is spent, he’s the first to identify what needs to happen. Even if he doesn’t like it. I think we see this especially true in Season 4 when he realizes Leo isn’t at his best so he chooses to step up.
Another thing worth mentioning—Raph’s anger gets noticeably better as the series goes. Part of this is due to gaining more supports (Casey, Mrs. Morrison, Angel, etc), part of it is by gaining more coping skills (knitting especially forces him to slow down and be calm) but also he grows. While we don’t know how old the turtles are in the beginning, most series start them around 15.
Hormones are absolutely insane during puberty and I doubt that’s different for mutant turtle boys. The earlier ages of puberty are often the hardest as the body tries to figure out a balance, leading to outbursts or shorter tempers being more frequent. I think a lot of Raph’s earlier, more intense, anger can definitely have some influence from hormones. Some boys are more sensitive to it or they produce more. As Raph matures and grows, that naturally mellows out.
Lastly, let’s address the elephant in the room. The pipe vs Mikey incident. I think this is one of those blind rage situations where a perfect storm of circumstances came together—given we never see Raph have an outburst like that again. So let’s see:
—just lost his home he had from childhood (and presumably a lot of sentimental items)
—had his family attacked
—emerged topside for the first time since childhood, with separation from his father during this mess
—is in early/mid puberty with no support aside from his brothers and father
—is most likely feeling powerless given recent events
I think Mikey’s taunting was simply the straw that broke the camel’s back with a whole bunch of pressure that had been building up. And he actually handles the aftermath pretty well.
We see immediate regret, removing himself from the situation and he actually gains a confidante in Casey Jones that serves him through the rest of the series! And seeing Casey Jones demonstrating the kind of behavior Raph knows he has. Having to see it I think really drives home that motivation for Raph to improve.
And he does. He grows, uses coping skills, learns to reach out to his family (in his own way) and while he remains hotheaded and impulsive, it’s manageable.
So, would I give Raph a diagnosis? Truthfully…no. In order to have a mental health diagnosis, it has to be interfering negatively in your life and by the end of the series, Raph pretty much has his stuff handled.
Could he still benefit from some impulsivity therapy and development of coping skills, maybe a little more anger management? Yeah, but it’s not to a clinically significant level.
Raph gets V codes! (Or Z codes if you’re outside the USA)
What the heck are V codes, you ask?
V codes are indicators of something a client is working on but it’s not severe enough for a full blown diagnosis. So, things like siblings issues, housing issues, some need of more coping skills etc.
We’re going to assume Raph is self pay so I don’t HAVE to give a diagnosis (Yes, some insurances require this and it is one of the reasons why diagnosis of ‘mood disorder unspecified’ exists)
FINAL DIAGNOSIS:
V61.8 Sibling Relational Problem, High Expressed Emotion Level Within Family
V62.4 Target of (Perceived) Adverse Discrimination or Persecution
V62.89 Victim of Terrorism or Torture
V62.22 Exposure to Disaster, War, or Other Hostilities
V15.49 Other Personal History of Psychological Trauma

When you say things to him that cause misunderstanding
Tumblr media
authors note: I’m feeling quite generous today, so why not write another fluff before my motivation runs out 🫶
wc: 607
Tumblr media
It's the anniversary of your relationship in a few days, you want to make a commemorative album to record your days together.
After you've bought all your crafting props, you selected a lot of photos to print out. You're primping the new hot melt, accidentally flipped the switch, the glue stick is heated and suddenly there's a big drop of glue. Unevenly, it also dripped right onto one of the few single photos he had.
It’s over ..you quickly turn off the glue gun, observing the extent of damage to the photo. Noticing the glue stains that had just dripped right onto his face.
But then, just in time, he pushed his way through the door. You're moving fast, hurriedly hid the photo behind your back.
It's not allowed to spoil the surprise.
Alarm bells go off in your mind and you move the photo to the corner of the table, getting up and running towards him yourself.
"(name)-chin—" He stood by the door rubbing his eyes as if he hadn't seen what you'd just done, just calling your name and cuddling towards you in a clingy manner.
Mikey hugs you, whispers in your ear coquettishly, and you pat his back and rub his face, softly saying, "You must be tired, Mikey."
Mikey takes kindly to your reassurances and rubs himself in your arms for a while, the tone of his voice sank back to a sudden seriousness. The person who has just been soft and enjoying your pampering was nowhere to be found. "What was (name) hiding?"
!?
There's no surprise if he finds out that you’re making a handmade book..
You think this and stand on your tiptoes, subconsciously blocking his view. "I was.. looking at Mikey's photos! The photos when you went out to play before are very memorable!"
"Then.." Mikey’s eyes softened and he resumed his newly lazy look. "Then I'm going to watch it with (name)-chin!" he said, bringing you closer towards the table with him.
You steadied yourself in time to get in front of him again.
"No..no." You stop him from getting any further near the table.
"Eh? Why.." Mikey said with a bit of disappointment in his eyes.
You're too busy coughing softly and blurting out. "Because I just went overboard with Mikey's picture and haven't dealt with it yet!"
Much to your surprise, you see Mikey freeze, his pupils vibrating as he stays in place for several seconds. Something like getting glue marks on a photo is really over the top, isn't it, but is it that shocking?
You look at his perverse expression, and secretly think back to what you just said, clearly there is no problem, right? You looked at his perverse expression and secretly recalled your own words just now, clearly there is no problem?
"What's with you, Mikey?" You reached out and waved your hand in front of his face, trying to regain his wandering consciousness.
"I.." Realising that he had lost his temper, Mikey was stunned for a moment, his cheeks tinted with red little by little. Seeing you look at him with a puzzled look on your face. He reached out and gently stroked your hair, then turned his face away in a chirpy manner.
"So (name)-chin likes me so much.."
"Eh?" You blinked, why did he suddenly say something like that? "Of course, I have always liked Mikey the most!"
"Well, (name), next time you need me..just tell me directly.." Mikey turned his head and held you in his arms. "I'll grant all your wishes."
"Ah..Okay.." You were held in his arms, confused. Why does it feel like Mikey misunderstood something?

hold the world to its best (4/?)

April comes through for them, as always, with some of her younger cousin’s old baby clothes.
All of the turtles were much smaller than human kids in their earlier years. Splinter described them as small enough to fit in his palm even after their mutation. Once they each hit their initial growth spurts, they seemed to grow twice as fast to make up for their slow start, but Gio isn’t quite there yet. He’s still, as Mikey puts it, all of two apples tall.
So the toddler hoodie that April pulls over his head immediately falls past his knees, and she has to roll up the sleeves that trail over his hands, and it’s adorable. So many pictures. Gio might never forgive them for this when he’s himself again.
Gio loves the big pocket in the middle. It’s where his ladybug lives, and where Leo constantly sneaks in a treat or two with the sleight of hand that Gio is endlessly impressed by. It’s also a convenient place to hide his hands when he gets nervous, which is still more often than Raph would like.
But the kid is coming out of his shell more and more, trailing along behind his brothers like a duckling that got slightly bolder every time it wasn’t shooed away. He reminds Raph of a much younger Leo, who wanted to be a part of everything all the time and hated to be excluded in any way for any reason.
Somewhere along the line, Raph got the idea that Leo outgrew that, but it turns out he never really did. He just got better at acting like nothing his brothers did could ever bother him, and being alone was super enjoyable, actually. Restful, even.
Gio at this age isn’t fooling anybody, wearing his heart on his sleeve for everyone to see. And what his heart told them loud and clear was that he wanted to be wherever his brothers were, doing whatever they were doing. Unlike when they were all kids together, when it was sometimes annoying to have a baby brother tagging along and demanding to be involved in everything Raph ever did, Gio couldn’t bother them if he tried.
If anything, they’re probably more annoying than he is. No child anywhere has taken more selfies with their overbearing big siblings than Giorgio Hamato, and definitely couldn’t have been as good-tempered about it even if they had.
The first time he dared to reach up and tug on the hem of Raph’s shirt, signing a hopeful ‘help?’ when he had Raph’s attention—wanting to be included in the table Raph was setting for lunch, apparently, even though it was barely enough job for one turtle, let alone one and a half—Raph reached down and scooped him right up, passing every plate and cup and piece of silverware to Gio for him to place instead.
There was a space for him here already, they didn’t have to make one.
Mikey currently has custody of Gio in the kitchen, supervising as the little spotted turtle presses cookie cutters into an absurd amount of chocolate chip dough rolled out to perfect even flatness. Mikey sneaks him a bite every so often like it’s some big secret, like it isn’t obvious they’re in there eating as much of the cookie dough as they’re cutting out, but Gio loves every second of the attention and soaks it up like a sun-starved plant.
When the cookies are in the oven and Gio has been gently dusted free of flour and held up to the kitchen sink so he could wash his hands, Leo appears like clockwork.
“Hey, Georgie-Porgie,” he says. “You’ve been a busy little bee today. Do you have a minute to spare for your favorite second-youngest brother?”
It’s as good as a rhetorical question, because Gio doesn’t have to fully understand what Leo is saying to simply nod along with him. Mikey is less than graceful about surrendering the kid, because he’s never had a little brother to carry around before and he’s loving every second of it, but Leo and Gio don’t go far.
Leo sits them at the table, himself in the chair and Gio on the tabletop. His first order of business is poking one of the spots on Gio’s cheek because it always makes him smile. Then he pulls a small tube from his pocket, unscrewing the cap.
“This is a type of medicine,” he says, letting Gio hold it. “It’s a gel that we put on scars—on ouches when they leave a mark on us. Raphie—” Leo casts around for him, and waves him over. Raph gets up from where he and Donnie were both pretending not to watch from the sofa and parks himself in the chair next to Leo’s instead, and Leo says, “Raphie has some, too. On his eye, and his shoulder.”
Gio’s dark eyes follow where Leo points. He doesn’t say anything, and doesn’t put the tube down to sign anything. As an afterthought, Leo scoots his chair back from the table and rolls up the left leg of his joggers, revealing the vivid scarring around his knee.
Raph has figured out where this is going. Gio usually keeps his hands closed into fists or tucked out of sight completely, but practicing sign language made it impossible to keep that up, and Raph saw what must have Leo so disquieted; the pale scars on Gio’s gray-green palms that shouldn’t be there.
“See?” Leo says, and waits for Gio’s nod. “Has anyone put medicine on your hands before?” This time Gio shakes his head. Leo, who became a criminally good actor when no one was looking, doesn’t let his expression change at all. “Can we try it out this once? If you don’t like it, we’ll stop.”
Donnie has stopped typing on his laptop, and Mikey has stopped wiping down the kitchen counters. Raph watches Gio come to a decision none of the rest of them are privy to and then hold out his little hands, palms up, eyes down.
For such a small gesture, it feels impossibly daring. It feels like a trust too big for any one person to hold. It probably feels to Leo the way Gio resting his head on Raph’s shoulder that first night had felt to him.
But Leo, who knows a thing or two about being brave when brave is the last thing you feel, scoops those offered hands up and kisses each tiny palm with a silly mwah! sound. It wasn’t what Gio was expecting and surprises him into a shy smile.
Leo doesn’t make a big deal out of it. He squeezes some ointment out briskly and massages it into Gio’s scars with his thumbs, explaining what he’s doing as he goes. His tone has been calm and breezy since they sat down at the table together, and Gio is following his cue. Gio isn’t going to get upset if no one else is.
He still takes his hands away as soon they’re finished, but not as quickly as he might have a day ago.
“You’re a much better patient than anyone else in this family,” Leo tells Gio, so serious it loops back around into playful. “Donnie would have taken a bite at me by now.”
“Perhaps,” Donnie intones flatly from the living room.
“That’s why you get a treat, Jorgito,” Leo goes on, lifting Gio down from the table before reaching into his own pocket for a frankly ridiculous handful of wrapped chocolate truffles. He pokes them into Gio’s hoodie pouch one by one while Gio watches with starry eyes. “Don’t share any with Dondon, you earned these fair and square. But go make him open all of them for you. Doctor’s orders!”
Gio takes off at a run, and the evil eye Donnie is giving Leo dissolves into his usual neutral expression by the time Gio has clambered gracelessly up onto the sofa beside him, signing ‘candy’ and ‘please’ like the earnest little angel he is.
Leo makes tracks back to the infirmary, because if he’s going to be upset about something it’s going to happen where no one else can see.
“He better not eat more than three of those before dinner, Dee! I know where you sleep!” Mikey singsongs in a bright tone that manages to sound like a direct threat of bodily harm, swinging around the kitchen island to plop into the chair Leo vacated. “That spell he’s under is so strange,” Mikey goes on in a quieter tone. “It turned him back into a baby, but he kept all his scars from his older years?”
Raph can follow that logic, because it’s the only thing that makes sense, right? But Raph had a front-row seat to Leo’s little pop-up clinic, and he had watched Leo rub a careful thumb over a spot on Gio’s arm that they had had to stitch up after a fight with the Foot Clan three months ago. It left a small scar that Leo had treated regularly with the same tube of gel sitting on the table in front of him now.
That scar on Gio’s arm isn’t there anymore.
And Raph abruptly understands why little Gio hides his hands when he gets nervous. It’s the first thing he always does. He thinks of his older brother, who rarely leaves the lair without his gloves, who still crosses his arms when tensions are high, as if he never fully outgrew that particular knee-jerk reaction that was taught to him when he was very small.
It’s an understanding he’s poorly equipped for. What does he do with it? That sweet little boy in the next room isn’t really here. It isn’t actually possible to rescue him from whoever left those angry, raised marks on his hands, or do anything that will make any sort of difference. In a few days, he’ll be himself again, their Gio, strong and steady and unflinching in face of monsters and the actual apocalypse, and he won’t remember anything Raph tells him today, even if Raph managed to think of the right thing to say.
“God dammit,” he mutters to himself at the table.
“Swear jar,” Donnie and Mikey chime instantly.
Raph literally can’t deal with them at the moment. He stands up and announces that he’s taking a nap before dinner, and unless your name starts with a G, don’t bother him. Gio blinks at Raph, and then up at Donnie, and signs ‘C’. Donnie corrects his handshape, saying, “No, ‘G’. He means you. You’re the favorite. You have unimaginable power.”
Leo slips into Raph’s bedroom moments after Raph has buried himself beneath his weighted blanket. He sits on the edge of the mattress, the springs dipping slightly beneath his insubstantial weight. How someone as big and bright as a supernova can manage to seem so small at times is one of the universe’s worst jokes.
Anxiety thrums in the back of Raph’s mind, never really going away, only making itself small and quiet when Raph manages to distract himself with other things. Now it’s spilling out of the box he put it in, stretching to fill more than its fair share of the space.
Raphael was a child at the same time Giorgio was. It wasn’t Raph’s responsibility to protect him. He didn’t even know Gio existed back then, and they were an entire dimension apart. So why does it still feel like Raph failed him?
“I’m sorry,” Leo finally says. “I should have kept it to myself.”
“No you shouldn’t have,” Raph replies immediately, because the root of ninety-percent of Leo’s issues is that he keeps them all to himself. One of these days Raph is going to convince him that there will never be a problem that belongs to his little brothers that doesn’t also belong to Raph. It won’t be today, but one day. “I just—I don’t know if it’s better or worse that I don’t know exactly what happened to him. And he’s never going to tell us, is he?”
Leo taps his fist against Raph’s shell, gathering his thoughts. Out of the entire family, he knows Gio best, if only because of all the late nights they sit up together, talking until night terrors are made small, until the dragging weight of insomnia isn’t quite so bruising.
“I think living through it once was enough,” he says. “You know?”
Raph does know. He’s never really talked about the Krang parasite that dug into his head, about what it wanted him to do to the people he loved most in the world. About what he almost did to the brother sitting next to him right now. About the fragile shape of Leo’s neck in a stranglehold and the knowledge he lives with now of how easy it would be to snap it in his hand.
The thought of speaking any of those thoughts out loud, of possibly speaking something horrible into existence, makes Raph’s stomach turn sharply. He buries his face in his pillow and breathes in for five and out for five. He does it again, hearing Leo’s taps on his shell keep the count with him.
Put this way, he understands why Gio would never say a word. Living through it once was more than enough.
“I just wish none of it had happened,” Raph says. It sounds childish and he instantly feels stupid for saying it. But Leo curls up a bit, sinking down until his head comes to a rest on Raph’s shoulder.
“Me, too,” he says quietly. It takes the sting out of Raph’s self-recrimination immediately, because nothing Leo wishes for could ever be stupid.
He doesn’t know how long they sit there together for, but at some point the sound of his little brother’s steady breathing beside him, and the oscillating fan ticking back and forth in the corner, and the indistinct laughter from the living room pool together and lull him into a dreamless sleep.
When he wakes up, Raph feels as if he’d been hit by a truck and also dragged behind it for a couple of miles, groggy and disoriented. But the anxiety is back to its usual low simmer instead of the bubbling, boiling over state it was in earlier. Leo’s spot on the bed is empty, and Mikey is talking to someone right outside the bedroom door.
He has about two seconds to establish these facts before his door is slammed open and Michelangelo bellows, “RAPHIE! WAKEY-WAKEY!”
Oh my god I’m going to have to kill him, Raph thinks grimly, refusing to lift his face from his pillow. If he doesn’t react, maybe they’ll go away. Historically, it has never been true, but there’s a first time for everything.
“Before you shoot the messenger,” Mikey goes on sweetly, knowing exactly where the line is that he can’t cross—a line that, for him, admittedly stretches out farther than anyone else’s but still has its limits, “I have a special delivery.”
Raph peeks out with one eye to find Mikey holding Gio out to him at full arms’ length. Gio is dangling in his grip agreeably, but now that Raph is awake and looking at him, he starts to squirm insistently, pawing at the hands holding him up, trying to get to Raph.
It works better than a bomb going off in waking Raph the rest of the way up. He pushes himself upright on one arm and reaches out for the kid with the other, cradling Gio against his chest once he has him.
“A Georgie? Just for me? Exactly what I always wanted,” he says playfully, nuzzling the top of that spotted head and earning a sound halfway between a toddler’s giggle and a turtle’s pleased trill. He looks up at Mikey, lingering in the doorway with a cheesy grin on his face, and adds through gritted teeth, “Does your name start with a ‘G’?”
“Food in ten!” the brat says cheerfully, before shooting off without bothering to close the door behind him.
“Ugh,” Raph says, letting his head fall back onto his pillow. He’s careful not to squish Gio under his plastron, the baby turtle tucked safely under his arm instead and seemingly content with the state of things. He mirrors Raph, folding his arms and tucking his chin in them, all wide eyes and white spots and sweet little face.
It’s not the worst way to be woken up, Raph admits to himself grudgingly.
And then Gio whispers, “Hi, Raphie.”
His voice is small and soft, almost inaudible over the sound of the fan. Raph picks his head up fast and stares down at him, uncertain if he actually heard that, or if part of his brain is still asleep and just making stuff up.
Gio gazes back. He’s waiting to see what Raph will do, but he doesn’t look afraid. He looks like he knows how safe he is. Tiny and trusting, willing to reach out his hands again even though he’d been hurt before.
We don’t deserve you, Raph thinks, but his older brother would hate to know Raph thought that even once. We’re lucky to have you, he thinks next, which his older brother still wouldn’t like, but would have to live with, because it’s true.
“Hi, Georgie,” Raph whispers back.

Could you do anymore headcannos for the tmnt 2014/2016 boys? Idc what the headcannon is but I love it hc so much
Sleeping Headcanons
Headcanons you say? Let's get into it!
Warnings: mental health, drugs/alcohol
Tumblr media
We spend nearly half of our lives asleep, and the boys are no different! They're a little backwards, being basically nocturnal, but they sleep (and struggle to), just like anybody else.
Leo
Tumblr media
Bed. Leo is a traditionalist and sleeps on a firm Japanese Futon. He sleeps on his plastron because that's the most practical. He's usually on his side, hugging a pillow, by morning.
Temperament. Even as always, unless he has a migraine, then he's in his room the second he gets home. Dark and quiet. If someone disturbs him, he'll get up and address whatever it is that needs seeing to, but don't expect conversation. However, he *is* a morning person! They all hate him until about 10 am.
Routine. If he has a headache he'll usually have no choice but to just lay down the second he's off the clock. If he doesn't, he has a very strict routine that is *always* adhered to, or he can't sleep (no, that's not a joke):
Tea (usually jasmine) with Dad while processing the day.
Shower.
Teeth.
Undress.
Meditate for 30 minutes.
Sleep.
The morning is much the same but in reverse:
Wake up.
Meditate for 15 minutes.
Get dressed.
Downstairs for coffee/breakfast/discussing the day with Dad.
Training.
Sleeping with a partner. Having someone around to upset his routine is ROUGH. Don't ask to sleep in his bed. Seriously, don't. Sharing *his space* is a HUGE step for him and if you push it, it'll just take longer. He'll start small, inviting you into his room for tea. Be PATIENT with the boy. Once you start sleeping in his bed it'll take him a while to get used to it. The first few times he doesn't sleep. But eventually, you worm your way into his routine, and he can't sleep without you. Until then, he will happily hold you until you fall asleep, even stay watching over you until morning. But he won't sleep.
Mikey
Tumblr media
Bed. Pillow pile! He started collecting pillows as a kid to add to his hoard, which is now comically large and takes up 1/3 of his room. He loves the weird ones and has ones with tassles and beads and insane shapes. It's actually pretty impressive and could probably double as a modern art piece!
Temperament. It's all good! No matter what state he's in, he's always the life of the party. Always.
Routine. He's usually parked in front of the TV until everyone disperses (video games/tv/ect). Then, depending on how hard his depression is hitting that night, he'll either grab a bong (hard) or a bottle (harder). He'll drink in his room , but he'll skate down one of the south tunnels to smoke because he doesn't want to hear about it from Leo. Splinter knows about the weed, but doesn't have a problem with it, because it really does seem to help. He would, however, have a problem with the liquor. Once Mike is thoroughly gone, he tosses himself on his pillow pile and attempts to pass out. Sometimes he does. He gets hangovers from the alcohol, but the second he wakes up that mask is firmly back in place and he's good to go! 😃
Sleeping with a partner. ALL. THE. CUDDLES. Expect him not to let go. Like, pee beforehand. He may not be as big as his brothers, but he's still pretty damn heavy. You are HIS Angel. You are HIS miracle. And you aren't going ANYwhere. Lots of nuzzling/scent marking, LOTS of churring, and when he does eventually fall asleep, he snores like a diesel engine. Just poke him in the side and he'll shut up.
Don
Tumblr media
Bed. What's a bed? You mean the cot in his lab? On the rare occasion that *someone* convinces him to actually sleep in a bed, it's pretty much whatever bed or bed-adjacent thing they bring him to. By the time he's tired enough that he can be convinced, he's too far gone to care.
Temperament. When Donnie is tired, expect to be snapped at. He'll apologize immediately, but his temper is a hair trigger when he needs sleep. And my dude goes until he stops. Don's body wakes up before he does. Expect mumbled one-word answers that may or may not make sense as he gradually comes to consciousness over the next half-hour.
Routine. Donnie doesn't make the decision to go to bed. He just wakes up and it's later. When he does wake up, his body has been conditioned to perform all the necessary morning tasks without him having to actually be fully conscious. Sit up. Grab freshly brewed espresso from desk next to cot. Shotgun espresso. Wrap joints. Stand up. Go to kitchen for second cup of coffee (because Raph has already brewed a pot, and because at some point in his teenage years, his father insisted on seeing him at least once a day). Make/drink coffee. Eat the closest edible thing. Go back to the lab. By this point, his conscious mind has usually kicked in and he can get back to work.
Sleeping with a partner. I hope you like to be lulled to sleep by computer fans! You'll get used to the phrase, "go and lie down, Dove. I'll just be a minute." It's always a lie. You know it. He knows it. The wall of computer towers behind you knows it. But he does the song and dance, anyway, because he thinks it makes you feel better. It doesn't. If he does happen to fall asleep with you, of COURSE he's the big spoon. He wraps himself around you and holds you as close as he can (he's still working on getting past all those pesky air molecules), with his beak buried in your hair so that he can breathe you in as he falls asleep (at least the air molecules are good for something).
Raph
Tumblr media
Bed. My guy is BIG, and needs a ton of support. A traditional flat mattress is uncomfortable unless he sleeps on his plastron which he HATES doing. His carapace is HEAVY, and it feels like he's literally being crushed under his own weight. Besides, he's in enough pain when he wakes up, and as much as he loves working out, he really doesn't want to have to do pushups first thing in the morning. Instead, he has a carbon fiber hammock that he wove himself. It hangs from a reach stacker arm modified with two lifting jacks bolted to the floor, all "liberated" from the shipyard. It supports all of him with the added benefit of pressure on all sides due to his weight, which helps him sleep, especially when he's in a low.
Temperament. When he's tired he's a grump. He's not quick to anger, but expect a lot of grumbling and begrudging acquiescence to things. He doesn't usually push it too far before heading to bed, because let's face it, pain is exhausting, and if he's laying down he's not having to hold himself up. He's not a "morning person," but he's usually okay as long as he knows there's a cup of coffee in his near future.
Routine. Pretty standard. Shower, teeth, etc. Once in bed, he'll mess around on his phone for a while, watching movies/tv/anime, before eventually falling asleep. In the morning, he rolls out of his hammock and heads to the kitchen for coffee with his Dad before everyone else emerges. After that it's his morning workout and he starts the day. Honestly the mostly boring/normal out of all of them.
Sleeping with a partner. He won't sleep in your bed. He just won't. Don't ask. He'll hold you until you fall asleep, no question, but he won't stay. The only hope for a sleepover is at his place. He likes to give you a big hug around the middle and roll into the hammock with you, and it always leaves you giggling as you snuggle up against his plastron. That's when he sleeps best, with you laying on his chest, his arm wrapped around you. Not only is it added pressure, but this way he knows you're safe.

OK, I have a personal headcannon that the turtles are super tall- like- raph is 10f ish, Donnie 8ft, leo a little shorter, and Mikey is at LEAST 6ft.
So the turtles interacting with the world being tall mf's and as well as their s/o (like throwing them over their shoulder or air jailing them
Bounus points is S/O is short by normal standards.
THIS IS NOT MENT TO BE SMUT. At all. I request wholesome and Mischievous content.
Well wishes: SBF🐍
[ Ankle Biter ]
Tumblr media
Future!ROTTMNT x GN!Reader who is short
A/N: i assume you meant the future turts? im so sorry if this is wrong! we're gonna assume the reader is between 5'0 - 5'3! thank you for requesting SBF!! <3
Relationship: Romantic
TW: Fluff, kisses, cuddling, slight panic (?), affectionate teasing.
Tumblr media
Future Raph
He adores your short size.
Hug? You get a bear hug regardless of how gentle he is.
Cuddling? No, weighted blanket in the form of a humanoid turtle.
Kisses? He has to bend over or pick you up to do so.
He gets a little anxious in crowds.
Being so tall means you can see everyone so, you'll be easy to spot, right?
No, not when everyone blurs together.
He once lost you at a festival and...
It was not pretty for the other turtles.
Certainly. Not pretty.
Future Leo
One word.
Air jail.
Your crimes are condemned to punishment, being held like a soggy cat for 5 minutes.
You are also an arm extension.
Something (surprisingly) too high to grab?
Fetch it for him.
If you guys are hanging out with shared friends, he ALWAYS has to sweep you of your feet.
Show-off.
That is until you start to rebel.
When you start to rebel, the only thing Leo can do is pray.
Future Donnie
Height doesn't really affect you two.
Kisses are a little harder but, Donnie is flexible.
Plus, carrying all those junkyard scraps beefed him up a little.
Along with training and fighting.
However, he doesn't hesitate to bring up your height in banter.
"I'm not sure how your opinion matters when you still aren't fully grown. Oh wait, you are."
Simply uses his robotic arms to shove you away once he gets your temper going.
Aside from that, he thinks its a convivence that you are short.
He's making something for you? Less materials used compared to his brothers.
He's also more lenient on repairs or replacements when it comes to you for the same reasons.
Future Mikey
Lets be real, if anyone is gonna tease you the most, it's Mikey.
Backtalk? On top of the fridge you go.
"Are you sure you don't need a stool to see? Just making sure."
He is so smug about it.
Growing up the shortest, it's funny to see the tables turn on someone else.
But he makes sure to never go to far, no feelings will be wounded by Dr. Feelings himself.
He really likes you on his shoulders, a simple lean and it's easy to kiss you.
Nicknames. It's always the nicknames.
With the teasing also comes the politeness.
Doors opened for you, stuff moved out the way, he can't have the ankle biter themself getting hurt!

2k3: the Battle Nexus arc shows that petty egoism/rivalry is not a core motivation for any of the brothers
(because i woke up and chose violence)
(building on some earlier thoughts on the 2k3 portrayal of the Leo&Raph dynamic https://www.tumblr.com/shadows-shells/776163987958185984/normally-i-would-ask-ya-who-your-fav-is-but)
If "competing to be 'better'" is a core motivation for either Leo or Raph, or if it is the emotional core of the Leo&Raph dynamic...the literal BATTLE TOURNAMENT arc would be ENTIRELY about them fighting it out and obsessing abt beating the other. It would be a completely different arc (and series).
If 2k3 Leo&Raph truly are bitter rivals/frenemies: The bros wouldn't find the Battle Nexus out of innocent curiosity abt where their dad is going; it would have been a tense, deliberate public showdown between Leo and Raph.
instead? The biggest emotional beats are Splinter conceding to Mikey without a fight, Raph saving his dad from being framed, and Don viciously defending a downed Leo (boi can flunk out of a battle tournament but also take on the whole world to defend his family!!)
In this whole competition/battle arc, Leo and Raph don't even have a match, nor do either even dream about humiliating each other. They spar everyday at home; they are far more interested in beating up threats to their family. 'Winning/defeating' the other just did not even cross their minds. It would read as egoistic and childish and trivial, compared to all the life-and-death threats of the series and what they all sacrifice for the family. Don worries for Leo and Raph worries for Splinter - NOBODY is thinking about looking better than their brothers.
the only conflict about 'winning' that any of the four has, is hilariously understandable and ultimately played off for laughs: their united common horror at the idea that their insufferable baby bro will NEVER shut up about being BATTLE NEXUS CHAMPION 🤣
notably, when Raph first realises that Mikey might actually win - he fears (correctly) only that Mikey will never let him hear the end of it and will brag for all eternity. There is NOTHING abt 'who is better than whom'. That's just not who Raph is as a person and not what 2k3 is about. If it were truly abt 'beating' one another as martial artists - Raph would've either won/lost because of actual physical conflict and not because Mikey got to him MENTALLY. Raph fully realises he basically lost to HIS OWN TEMPER and in typical teenage melodrama declares he won't be able to live with himself. (He obviously does; he survives the whole series 😂 and in arguably better mental health than Leo and Don)
the 'Leo&Raph as rivals/frenemies' thing is just as FAR as it can get for 2k3 (and i am thankful everyday for that)!

The next generation! What kind of kids are the new generation?| TMNT Bayverse x Reader kids
Marcus (18) - Leonardo’s son
Personality:
Marcus is noble, mature, and the responsible eldest sibling. He often takes on burdens without complaint, striving to meet expectations. Calm and disciplined, but underneath the surface, there’s quiet pressure weighing on him.
Relationship with you:
Marcus is incredibly respectful toward you, seeing you as his moral compass and emotional anchor. When Leo is hard on him, you’re the one he confides in quietly. He may not always share his feelings, but he seeks your approval and comfort in subtle ways.
Relationship with Leo:
Their bond is deep but tense at times. Leo is proud of Marcus, but he expects a lot-sometimes too much. Marcus tries hard to live up to his father’s legacy, often acting as the “mini-Leo” of the family. Leo trusts him the most, but rarely tells him how proud he is.
Marie (16) – Donatello’s daughter
Personality:
Marie is a curious, brainy teen who inherited her father’s intellect. She loves building things, solving puzzles, and is a tech prodigy in her own right. She’s also warm, a little sarcastic, and slightly socially awkward in an endearing way.
Relationship with You:
Marie is very close to you-you’re the one who reminds her to rest, eat, and take care of herself when she’s deep in a project. She adores your warmth and often curls up next to you while reading or working on something.
Relationship with Donnie:
They’re like two peas in a pod. Donnie is her hero, teacher, and biggest cheerleader. He brags about her achievements constantly and has a soft spot a mile wide for her. She pushes back when she feels smothered, but she deeply respects her dad.
Alec (15) – Leonardo’s son
Personality:
Alec is fiery, reckless, and always chasing something-approval, danger, freedom. He often acts without thinking and hates being compared to Marcus. He’s got a brave heart and fierce loyalty, but also a rebellious streak.
Relationship with You:
You’re his safe place. You’re the one who truly sees him and doesn’t compare him to his older brother. He vents to you when Leo’s harsh, and while he’ll roll his eyes at your lectures, he listens to you more than he lets on.
Relationship with Leo:
Strained but intense. Leo and Alec butt heads constantly. Alec wants Leo’s respect but feels like he’ll never measure up to Marcus. Leo loves him fiercely but doesn’t always know how to reach him. There’s a lot of unresolved emotion between them, both are too stubborn to say what they really feel.
Nova (15) – Raphael’s daughter
Personality:
Nova is athletic, outspoken, and artistic. She’s got her dad’s temper and strength, but also a creative soul-often sketching, painting, or dancing to burn off her intensity. Protective of her siblings, especially Ginny.
Relationship with You:
You’re the only one who can calm her down when she gets fired up. You encourage her art and give her space to be herself. Nova can be moody, but you’re the person she turns to when things fall apart.
Relationship with Raph:
They clash a lot because they’re so alike. Raph tries to protect her, but Nova wants independence. They argue, yell, and then make up with a tight hug. They share an unbreakable bond-equal parts explosive and tender.
Max (13) - Michelangelo’s son
Personality:
Max is a bubbly, energetic kid who inherited Mikey’s humor and heart. He’s always trying to make people laugh and is a natural peacemaker. Loves skateboarding, gaming, and creating funny videos.
Relationship with You:
Max is your little sunshine. He’s always complimenting you, cracking jokes to make you smile, and sneaking snacks to your room. He’s very emotionally open with you and hates when you’re upset.
Relationship with Mikey:
They’re a dynamic duo. Max idolizes his dad and tries to copy his jokes, even if they flop. Mikey lets Max be himself and teaches him how to have fun but still be kind and thoughtful. They’re partners in chaos.
Ginny (12) – Raphael’s daughter
Personality:
Ginny is shy but sharp. She’s got a serious, observant nature, and tends to keep her emotions inside. She’s protective of Nova but very different from her, more like a quiet fire than an explosion. She has a dry sense of humor and a deep love for animals.
Relationship with You:
Ginny clings to you when she’s nervous or overwhelmed. You’re her emotional translator helping others understand her when she can’t express things herself. She’s softest with you, often helping with chores just to spend time near you.
Relationship with Raph:
Raph is extremely gentle with her. He speaks softer, is more patient, and always checks in with her quietly. Ginny is his weak spot, he may not always understand her, but he protects her fiercely and never pushes too hard.
Noah (6) – Leonardo’s son
Personality:
Noah is the family baby, sweet, curious, and surprisingly stubborn. He loves stories, snuggles, and swords (just like Daddy). He wants to be like Marcus and Alec at the same time but doesn’t fully understand why they don’t get along.
Relationship with You:
Noah is very attached to you. He crawls into bed with you when he has bad dreams and insists you tuck him in every night. You’re his whole world. He often asks if you’re proud of him, even after little things like brushing his teeth.
Relationship with Leo:
Leo is softest with Noah. He’s incredibly protective of his youngest son and tries to be more patient with him than he was with the older boys. Noah adores his father, shadowing him constantly and calling him “Dad the Brave.”
—————-
Hey guys! I hope you’re all doing well! Sorry I’ve been a bit less active, I have exams at university this weekend, but as soon as I’m done, I’ll be back!
By the way, which of the kids has won your heart the most so far?

I love all of this and wish to one day write it. I already have like three ideas with crossovers for 2k03, 2k12 and Rise. Not all together, but in pairs since I love the different dynamics that work, but all of it will end with Mikey getting hurt, then the love and respect he deserves :3c
…one day, that is lmao.
Respecting TMNT Michelangelo
The Fandom: LOL Mikey doesn't do science and knowledge, he just reads comics and plays games, what does he know about esoteric stuff?
Me: So, through comics, video game lore, and pop culture, Michelangelo has absorbed knowledge about various sciences including psychology, astrophysics, chemistry, neurology, medicine, and biology, has dutifully studied folk tales and mythologies, can quote Shakespeare and Tolkien as appropriate jokes, and has studied enough on quantum energy to quietly increase his spiritual ninja powers to match Master Splinter, secretly reading his family's chi and aura energy as well as his environment while keeping up his goofball appearance because if they realized his skills they would expect so much more and he's scared of having too much responsibility over the lives of his team, which is a double edged sword since he would already be responsible for the upkeep of their well being and good humor.
Fandom: Haha, he talks in slang and flirts with all the girls and acts stupid.
Me: He tries his own type of meditation for his confirmed ADHD and it can be hard to grasp concepts quickly, and his slang might as well be vocal stimming, echolalia. He feels weird enough being a mutant turtle, he feels even weirder being a pansexual mutant turtle and he tries to compensate.
Fandom: He acts way too happy and silly all the time.
Me: So did Robin Williams.
I blame David Wise and Peter Laird. They made their writers keep Mikey from getting too angsty. In 2003 he almost had Don's mutation arc, and his greatest desire would have been an amusement park. He boasted about being Battle Nexus Champion because it was basically all he had. 1987 turned him into a surfer stoner stereotype because Wise told me he preferred the character that way.
Tagging @ulisabarbic-blog (ThickerThanLove on FF and AO3) because she's the one who reminded me of those initial 2003 script ideas. And the way she writes Empathic Therapist Mikey for 1987 and 2003 is inspiring and beautiful.

Aight, so this is something I intended to make a post about eons ago before making a bunch of posts related to it, but some things happened. Anyways-
Tumblr media
The night Leo meets Karai, or rather is ambushed by her, he's thrown for a loop by her unprecedented decision to leave before she could easily finish him off. He's almost instantly putting an unreasonable amount of trust in her after that single interaction, and you can't entirely blame the guy since she was making no attempt to kill him while exuding her mischievous nature and taunting him like they've been buddies for years. Her behavior loosened him up in a way he normally couldn't be because of his duties as a leader. Of course, the situation greatly escalates from there as one thing leads to another, and the turtles are faced with the moral dilemma of accepting Karai for their familial connection with her or shunning her like any other enemy they know as she takes almost any chance she could get to hold a tantō to their necks.
Although none were more expressive with their distrust of her than Raph, there is something interesting to take note of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raph is the first to find out about Karai's existence and the evidently one-sided "friendship" Leo has with her, but rather than immediately go on the offensive with Karai (extremely surprising considering she had Leo pinned to the roof right when he arrived) or accuse Leo of any wrongdoing, he simply demands an explanation from his brother. Raph observed the situation with a level head and didn't judge Leo for anything other than seeming too blasé about Karai being a Foot clan member, or for saying she wasn't intent on killing him when she threw a weapon at his head. Other than that, he kept the matter between him and Leo since it didn't seem to be a pressing issue at the moment. His trouble with Karai only really began in the next episode when he witnesses Leo needlessly showing off in front of her and even going out of his way to hide her from Splinter, Donnie, and Mikey.
Tumblr media
Nothing's stopping Raph from telling everyone, and he certainly doesn't trust Karai enough to leave things as they are, but he puts his faith in Leo and nudges him to come clean about his new found friend twice to their brothers at least. Soon after being told that Karai was 'taken care of' (something he called total BS on), he reaches his boiling point once he discovers her following them, and his frustrations are worsened by Leo going out of his way to defend Karai when she's spelling trouble for them. As to be expected, Leo is forced to confess after she lands them in hot water and leaves them for dead while running off with a Kraang bot, but once Splinter gives him a much needed lecture, Raph forgives him and seemingly stays out of his face about the ordeal. At least until Karai approaches them with a proposition to combine their forces and fight the Kraang, something he surely would've put up more of a fight to shoot down had the others, namely Leo, not agreed to her offer after she helped them fight the Kraang stealth ship.
Tumblr media
All of those instances, when combed through for the little things, are some of the first details the writers gave us to show a major distinction between Leo and Raph.
Raph's temper is so front and center throughout the series that the amount of patience he exercises in response to Leo's asinine decisions and trains of thought (especially early on) has a tendency of being overshadowed. He constantly, and openly, shunned the idea of Karai ever siding with them since he couldn't find it in himself to readily trust her like everyone else could, and even after learning who her real father is, he continued to question the possibility of Karai ever turning out to be good when considering her upbringing. But he still went along with Leo's wishes to help and go so far to befriend her because he knew his brother was simply trying to help someone out of the kindess of his heart at the end of the day, and Leo's only further spurred by her being their sister.
This isn't exclusive to their development with Karai, because we see later on that Raph exercised a far greater amount of that patience when Slash made his theatrical return to the team midway through S3.
Tumblr media
One could make the argument that the writers should've had the midseason two parter focus the slightest bit more on Raph's POV since Slash used to be his pet and Leo was the only one unwilling to believe he'd changed since their last encounter, but I'd say with certainty that the minuscule amount of input we received from him is just the right amount of focus we needed. Raph doesn't blow up at Leo for his treatment of Slash because he knows his suspicions aren't baseless, and he doesn't go out of his way to prove Slash's innocence to Leo (Mikey kind of does that for him lol); he only decided to step in when the two couldn't decide on what plan to proceed with. He plainly moves aside and allows Slash to prove Leo wrong through his own efforts, all while undoubtedly believing since their last encounter that Slash isn't bad anymore and that Leo would eventually come around to make that same conclusion.
The complete opposite of Leo's stubborn behavior when it came to Karai.
Look at Leo's face, he's so silly, a goofy goober if you will
Tumblr media
Even though she went on to turn her back on Shredder, and essentially prove that Leo was right, Raph wasn't wrong to take so much time to see Karai as a trustworthy ally. He recognized that it wasn't enough for her to just be borderline friendly and fight on the same side as them; legitimate effort needed to be put forth for them to warm up to someone like her, and her track record didn't exactly suggest that she'd readily put in that effort. Leo's fixation with turning the tables on Shredder and making things right with Splinter practically blinded him from that simple little truth though. Of course, he learned the error of his ways and clearly followed in Raph's footsteps when confronting Slash and anyone else they'd cross paths with that posed a potential threat, sometimes tending to go too deep into that mindset when he was upset with Fugitoid and Usagi.
They both learned a little bit of something from each other along the way, but the difference in how Leo and Raph grow to perceive the matter of trusting someone is so fascinating to me.

Hiii! okay maybe teen mathéo likes a girl so he could talk to charles about it and ask for advice a little father son moment would be cool.
numbers | charles leclerc
hello lovely anon! thanks for the request! for this imagine, I’m going to include mikey and demri schumacher. they are characters that belong to @cs55version from their mick series that i am absolutely in love with!!
I JUST STAY IN MY ROOM TOO LONG BUT I FINALLY HAVE A GIRLFRIEND AND SHE’S THE BOMB — numbers by tempered
While the media saw Ruby Leclerc as the loud, but funny child of Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, they sometimes forgot about Mathéo Leclerc, the shy and quiet boy. It wasn’t a bad thing (Mathéo’s exact words). The boy liked not being in the spotlight.
He enjoyed art museums and going to see musicals with his mother and grand-mère. But there were sometimes when the media did question whether or not he would follow in the footsteps of his father. From a young age, Mathéo decided not to pursue a career in formula 1 and his family respected that.
Even the kids at school would ask him when he would start karting. He would always answer with “I’m not going to be a driver. Ask my older sister.”
He grew tired of people at school always asking him about Ferrari, his father and uncle, asking for paddock passes. It was always the same people, people he never even talked to. But there was one day when a girl who had just moved to Monaco came up to him during lunch.
Mathéo’s usual friend, Robin, was sick so he remained home. Now it looked like Mathéo didn’t have any friends and sat alone during lunch.
“Hi. Is it okay if I sit here?” The girl asked, pointing to the chair across Mathéo.
“Yeah, it’s okay.” He replied then went back to eating his sandwich that his mother had made him.
“I’m Giselle.” The girl introduced herself.
“My name is Mathéo, but with an h in between the t and e. A lot of people forget about the h.” He explained.
“Oh, okay. Mine is with two l’s so it’s not like the supermodel’s name, you know the one that was married to Tom Brady?” She asked.
“I don’t know who Tom Brady is, but I know who Gisele Bündchen is. My maman had dinner with her last week.” He said casually. “Wait, you don’t have an accent.” He quickly noticed.
“I’m from America, but my mother’s side of the family is from here. My mom got a really good job offer so here we are,” Giselle explained. “My mom has about of an accent though. She was born here but left when she was ten I think.”
Mathéo had a crush on a girl before. Her name was Eloise. She was the sister of the most popular girl in school so when Eloise asked Mathéo out to the movies, the boy thought it was just some kind of prank.
Giselle seemed nice, she listened when Mathéo had something to say, laughed at his jokes when he made one and she didn’t know of Mathéo’s last name so at least he didn’t have to worry about that yet.
As the school day came to an end, he walked back home only to find Mikey and Demri Schumacher and his sister eating in the kitchen while his mother was on the phone talking.
“Hey, Théo! Missed you.” Demri ruffled his hair as he passed by her to get to the refrigerator.
“You can keep him if you want. I see him all the time.” Ruby teased.
“Maman! Ruby wants to give me away to the Schumacher’s!” Mathéo yelled. He ignored the laughs coming from then teenagers and grabbed a juice then walked out the kitchen.
“Ruby, what did I say about trying to sell your brother?” Y/n groaned from her spot in the sofa.
“Uncle Mick won’t mind having him around!”
“Hi, maman. Is papa around?” The fourteen year old boy asked shyly. He needed his father’s opinion on Giselle.
“He’s in our room, baby. He might be asleep, but you can go check.”
“Oh. I’ll let him sleep then. I’m going to my room.” Mathéo said. He knew how hard his father worked so he rather wait to have a conversation with him. He walked up the stairs to his room and closed the door behind him.
Y/n could see the defeated face on her boy. “Mom, I’m going to call you back. Bye.” She hung up the phone. She got up and walked to her and Charles’ room where he was sleeping peacefully on their bed. He had just gotten back from Belgium and he decided he wanted to have a nap before dinner.
“Charles, sweetheart,” Y/n gently shook his body to wake him up. Charles groaned as a response. “Mathéo wants to talk to you. I have a feeling it might be important.”
“What time is it?” He asked, still not opening his eyes.
“Almost dinner time so you have to get up.”
Charles sighed and sat up in his spot. “Where’s my boy?”
Mathéo was in his room working on his art project. It was a show box diorama of his favorite memory, which was the day of his birthday when all of his family from both sides made it to his party. As he was putting a toy birthday cake in his box, he heard a knock on his door.
“It’s open!” He said, still concentrated on his project. In came Charles with a tired face, but he didn’t care. His son needed him and he was here to listen.
“It looks very nice. Is that Uncle Arthur with frosting on his face?” Charles pointed at a paper drawing of the whole family. Arthur had been drawn with blue marker ‘smeared’ on his face to resemble the frosting of the cake that Charles had thrown at his face the day of the party.
“Yeah, it was kind of hard to find the right shade of blue but I made it work.” Mathéo said, not looking up from his work.
Charles nodded and walked over to the boy’s bed and sat down. “Maman told me you wanted to talk.”
Mathéo finally looked up and slowly turned his chair to face Charles. “But you’re tired. We can talk later-”
“Théo, I’m not tired. I’m okay, now tell me, is someone bothering you in school? Are your grades bad? If it’s about grades then I’m not mad because my grades were not good. Arthur and I used to skip class because of karting so-”
“It’s not about grades. I’m doing well in school. Promise you won’t laugh at me.” Mathéo said quietly.
“Why would I laugh? I’m your papa.”
“Just promise me.”
Charles held out his pinky finger. “I promise I won’t laugh,” Mathéo nodded and was about to speak but Charles stopped him. “No, you have to do the pinky promise. This is serious.” Mathéo chuckled and laced his pinky finger with his father’s then let go.
“Okay, so I was sitting in my usual table during lunch and then this girl comes up and sits with me. Robin wasn’t with me because he’s sick so I thought she felt bad for me because I was sitting alone. But turns out she’s new to Monaco and to the school. We talked and I have decided that she is the coolest girl I have ever met and she doesn’t know I’m your son!” The boy explained. “And she laughed at my jokes, I think I’m in love.”
Charles’ lips turned into a smile. His son had a crush.
“Well that’s a big word for you. She seems nice. What’s her name?” Charles asked.
“Giselle but with two l’s. Even her name is pretty. But I don’t want to seem like a creep and ask her out. How did you ask maman to go on a date with you?”
“Your maman was not an easy person to ask out. The first time I asked her, she said no and I respected her decision. A month later, she was in Monaco and we got lunch with a couple of friends and I asked her again and she said yes. I wanted to take her to dinner but she said that was too boring for a first date so we signed up for a cooking class to make pasta but it was in Italy so we went to Italy.” Charles explained. He was never going to forget that day.
“Why Italy? Does Monaco not having pasta classes?”
“They do, but your mother hadn’t been to Italy so I took her. It’s became a tradition now. On our anniversary, we go to the same cooking class and make pasta. You would think my cooking skills would improve by now, but at least we have maman to help.”
“Maybe I can take Giselle to a cooking class in Italy.” Mathéo suggested.
“How about we start with watching a movie in the local theater?”

Introducing…
Tumblr media
Hamato Raphael (18) After the invasion, Raph gets a whole lot of nightmares about the Krang and is always overwhelmed, which leads to him occasionally losing his temper. | After Splinter’s death, he finds a mysterious box in Splinter’s room that contains his journal, family scrolls, and secrets. He helps Donnie with translations while simultaneously managing his nightmares, temper, and making sure his brother’s don’t get killed (mainly Leo). Eventually, Raph discovers that he can tame Krang-infected people and makes the infected Foot Clan his family's guard dogs. This allows Raph to regain some sort of control over his trauma.
Tumblr media
Hamato Leonardo (17) After the invasion, Leo starts going out at night to look for trouble. He starts to believe that death and destruction follows him everywhere he goes. It starts with fighting bad guys, but he gradually starts blurring the lines between bad and good. | After Splinter’s death, Leo adopts the persona of Death and really leans into this character. He goes looking for suspects and uses unethical methods to get answers. After he learns the truth about the Hamato Clan, he feels less guilty about what he’s doing.
Tumblr media
Hamato Donatello (17) After the invasion, Donnie coops himself up in his room and stays up most of the night tinkering with strange objects. He suffers from migraines, which is a side effect of integrating with the Krang ship. | After Splinter’s death, he switches focus and almost obsesses over the Hamato scrolls, which he’s tasked with translating. After knowing the truth about the Hamato Clan, he will find and utilize scraps from the Krang ship that crashed into Earth to build something that will ensure his family is protected. During this process, there is an explosion that causes Donnie to hallucinate.
Tumblr media
Hamato Michelangelo (16) After the invasion, Mikey’s adjusting to his injuries and starts drawing Krang symbols in his art. | After Splinter’s death, his drawings become more vivid as his mental state declines. After uncovering the truth about the Hamato Clan, Mikey convinces himself that everything bad that happened to their family was for a reason. He seeks comfort in the Krang and will view them as holy beings whom he'll worship.
Tumblr media
Yuichi Usagi (17) Usagi is on a mission to hunt down the man who had destroyed his village, and his family. He hires Murakami Gennosuke to help him track down and kill Hamato Yoshi. | After the deed is done, he meets Leo and helps him search for his father’s killer without knowing that Leo is Yoshi’s son. When Usagi finds out the truth about Leo, he’ll attempt to kill him. Usagi is afraid of the dark because he can hear the screams of his burning village.
Additional context:
Splinter has a secret box that is basically like an archive of all the bad things that the Hamato Clan has done in the past (I'll probably make a separate post that dives into the family lore). 6 months after the invasion, Splinter is killed by Usagi.
This post is describing what the turtles go through immediately after the invasion, when Splinter is killed, and the aftermath of uncovering their dark family secrets.

the fact that there's no fanart of the 2012 gang and Tinkerbell interacting is insulting to me, like, picture it.
-April and Tink are both voiced by Mae Whitman (except in Peter Pan of course)
-Tink and Donnie bonding over them both being tinkers.
-Tink having a crush on Donnie, and kicking April and pulling her hair because of jealousy, the way she does to Wendy in Peter Pan.
-I can picture Donnie saying something like, "how are we supposed to get up there?" And then Tink covers him in pixie dust and the gang are all baffled as Donnie starts floating.
-Tink and Raph bonding over their tempers.
-Leo having a little tea party with Tink, because Leo had tea parties with Chloe, and Tink had tea Parties with the little girl in the Great fairy rescue movie.
-Tink and Mikey getting into trouble together.
Are you seeing the vision?????
Tumblr media
OKAY THIS IS CRIMANAL WHY IS THERE NO FANART OF THIS
This is such a cute idea, actually. So, so hear me out:
Donnie first hears the soung of bells while on patrol and goes to track the random light at the corner of his eyes but finds nothing and the audience sees a flutter of sparkles at the corner of the screen. His brothers tease him for hearing things and they go to the lair and he pouts to his lab and Tinker Bell has been following them this whole time (Four. Talking. Turtles. Who WOULDN'T follow?). Then she ends up exploring his lab and :0000 He's so cool look at all this stuff!!
And then she reveals himself to him and he goes to show his brothers but when they enter the lab Tink is just gone. Then he's frustrated when they leave and Tink reveals herself again 'cause she was hiding bc she's a FAIRY she can't just go around showing herself to EVERYONE she just thinks he's smart and wants to hang with a fellow inventor who uses nothing and makes something.
And so instead of following April around he becomes preoccupied with the tiny fairy in his lab and they learn how to communicate (kinda) and bond and THAT'S when she develops a crush on him because lkdfjgldkfjgld he's so PASSIONATE AND KIND AND SWEET
Then during a mission, she saves him by using her fairy dust and then she HAS to reveal herself because now his brothers think his delulu is spreading because THAT'S NOT THE NORM???
And then after she reveals herself to everyone, they do bonding things and silliness all around and Splinter is just kinda like "cool a kodama (Japanese tree spirit) is in my home why not" and Tink has met the parent and everyone knows what they say about getting introduced to the parent and then April enters the picture and Tink is no longer Donnie's fascination and she DOES NOT like that no sir
But since she's a fairy and talks through bells, she can't TELL HIM why it is that she's annoyed. She just IS and she's randomly really, really, aggressive to April which baffles EVERYONE because she's been so friendly and sweet the whole time so-
