While both trying to maintain fidelity to the real-life tragedy, the series plays with the timelines, characters, and chronology to make the events more dramatic and neat despite the inexplicable circumstances. Godrey as a character (played by Riley Keough) plays a key role in understanding the young perpetrators' motives while looping in the the police investigation led by Lily Gladstone as a composite Indigenous cop character.

Jack reached over to turn his wife's fourth alarm off—seriously, who needs that many alarms—and let his arm flop on top of her. She made a small noise before returning back to her peaceful slumber. Jack considered removing her alarms if she was just going to sleep through them all, when he was startled by her eyes looking right at him.

"You know," she started, "you don't have to turn them off yourself, I wake up on the second one just to see what you do to the third and fourth." Her cheeky smile ended her confession, the sleep in her voice still poking through, so obviously she lied about 'waking up on the second.'

His eye twitched. She wants to play a game so early in the morning? "Well obviously I'm going to turn them off, Lord knows you need the beauty rest." Reena gasped at him, grabbing the pillow under his head and raising it to hit him. "Sugar, you know I'm kidding! I would never say anything against you!"

Though, with the lack of an effort to defend himself, Reena still manages to snag him once with the pillow, hearing the rip of the fabric and pulling it away from him to see the stuffing on his sharp nose. "I know. I just wanted to do that." She sticks her tongue out before throwing the covers off and getting out of bed.

Reena sits at her vanity for a moment, Jack can see her staring at herself. Her brow creases as she itches at one of the scars on her shoulder. She grabs her hair brush and gets rid of her bedhead.

"So, Jack," this is never good, "I was wondering if you wanted to take the kids out to that Christmas thing out in the city. I think Molly said it was a parade? I don't know, sometimes it's so hard to tell with her accent if I say things right." Reena mumbles to herself, trying to find a good point between her hair and her bangs to put her horns.

It's not that Jack doesn't like Christmas, or that he doesn't want to spend time with the dolls—he hangs out with most of them constantly anyway—its the fact of what Christmas feels like to him.

A reminder that he failed the one duty he had because some idiot got the wrong hobby.

"Babe, are you seriously moping right now? This has to be a record for you."

He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Reena, who was standing over him at this point talking in his face. "Hellooooo earth to Carny down there!"

She pulls him up from his warm spot, tossing him a shirt she got him. "I'm coming with you, I know how bad these holidays are for you. All it takes is one sentence and we can celebrate my people's version of Christmas."

"You don't even know what Christmas is." He scoffs, pulling on pants and clicking his suspenders on. Reena pouts at him, putting her earrings in.

"I do too know what it is! It's the day that you guys get together and show off how much money you have based on the number of gifts you buy each person!" She smiles. Reena was from Down Below, which is what normal people would consider 'Hell' due to its hotter temperatures and devolved society. Some of this world's historical aspects still seem to illude her, such as religion or certain human concepts (and also birds for some reason??)

Jack shakes his head with a smile that he quickly wipes off. "Sure, sugar, we'll go with that."

"WOAH!!! This place is HUGE!"

Reena laughs as her oldest son looks around at all the people lined across the busy intersection. They made sure to get a good spot in the middle so that they didn't have to disguise themselves too much. Reena and Jack stood behind their three little boys, Roman, Seth, and Randy, all on leashes, and scanned the area.

Roman was fascinated at the crowds that had formed, and the fact that everything in the real world was so LARGE. Roman was usually in the carnival helping Nari and the other dolls, so he wasn't out too much.

Seth had his headphones on, he clung to the front of Jack's pants quietly, he knew everything was going to be huge, but he didn't think it would be so loud.

Randy, the youngest and still wobbling around, kept yelling at everything. A bug on the ground? Randy has to get down and talk to it. A random dime? Randy has to pick it up and try to eat it. A piece of candy? Okay, that one came from Jack but Randy has to eat it, too.

Suddenly, the loud horn of the firetruck blared through the air, signaling the start of the parade. Roman and Seth were lifted to Jack's shoulders, where they balanced on his shoulder and hands, and Randy was less interested in the parade as he was trying to tangle Reena in his leash, in between mimicking the horns and sirens.

Reena looked at her husband, but it was very evident he wasn't having a good time. Not when everything reminded him of everything. The presents, the boxes, the fake snow, the gifts and candy being thrown at children.

The joy on the faces of all the kids when they get their prizes.

Jack looks back at Reena, with a strange softness, and whispers, "Please."

The bakery they stopped at wasn't completely empty, but it was good enough they could find a secluded booth for them all to sit at, the boys doodling on some kids menus they were handed before the waiter left.

"I'm fine, can we just go home?" He had been saying that since they left the immediate parade area. He blamed the boys, saying that Seth didn't like the parade and he didn't want to make him upset. Or that Randy was going to get tripped over and hurt. Or that Reena looked tired anyway and they should have left sooner.

"No, Jack, you're not fine, and I'm not going to let you pretend you are, I need to know what's going on so I can help you. I just want to help you, love." She goes to take the hand she can see shivering, but he flinches and pulls his hand away. He won't look at her, he's focusing on the table, focus on the table so you don't get pulled away from it all, focus, focus, focus—

"Hey, want to do something cool?" She taps him, and then points out the window. "Name me 5 things you see."

He rolls his eyes and looks at her, still shaking and unsteady. "I'm not doing this, Reena. I'm fine."

"Fine then. Three things, the boys don't count."

He huffs and goes back to looking out the window. "I see the cars driving down the road. I see the reflection of your purse in the window, and I see a billboard for Molly's jewelry." she hums, digging into her purse for something.

"Alright," there's a pop of some kind, "name me two things that you feel." His claws rub against the table, feeling the grain in the wood catch his claws sometimes.

"I feel the table. I feel my clothes." A snap, and another pop.

"Good job. Now name me one thing you taste."

"Reena, I don't taste anythi-"

As he goes to face her, she smashes her lips to him, kissing him like she's been wanting to do it all day, and making sure the grape scent and flavor of her lip gloss gets all over him. When she is happy with herself, she pulls away, sneaking one last peck and smiling at him. "Now, what's one thing you taste?"

He licks his lower lip, smiling slightly, his cheeks obviously darkened. He knows the boys are protesting this DISGUSTING display of affection in public nonetheless. But he leans into his wife, who's redder than he is.

"I taste that new lip gloss I got for you a while ago. Always wondered where you put it."

She giggles, pushing him back and leaning on his arm. "I was waiting to surprise you with it, thought it would be a funny thing. Never knew it would be used as a grounding technique."

Jack nods in defeat, she's won this battle, but there's definitely more to come.

A little description for the au I’m creating.

So I asked myself the other day as I was working, what kinds of Biomechs are there in the world of Gears and Love?

The term “Doll” is a human categorisation of Biomechs.

Trigger warning for the Scarlet Doll section! Mentions of abuse and the levels of it! You have been warned. It comes after the Soothing Dolls section so read at your own risk.

Military Dolls:

Military Dolls are Biomechs that are equipped with military grade programming.

The Helios brothers (Sun (eldest), Eclipse (second eldest), Solar (second youngest), Ruin (youngest)), Monty, Foxy and Lefty (though he is a bear, he is not stated to be a Freddy model) are just some of the Biomechs that have this program.

Thermal imaging, night vision are standard in all Military Dolls. The Helios brothers are also equipped with super-fast processors, allowing them to absorb (and keep) information at top speed, making it easy for the four of them to adapt to any situation IF THEIR PROGRAMMING IS ACTIVE.

Manual activation for this Doll consists of a small switch at the back of the heads of the Helios brothers, the twist of Foxy’s hook, Monty has a small switch on his right spiked bracelet and Lefty’s is the small star on his chest.

This programme is not without its flaws. When activated, all Military Dolls have superb memory and retain said memory once it’s deactivated. They remember everything that happens to them.

Soothing Dolls:

Soothing Dolls are programmed with emotional manipulative skills - they can calm a room of murderers or set them off into a bloody frenzy.

The Lunaris brothers (Moon (eldest), Lunar (second eldest), Killcode (second youngest), Bloodmoon (youngest)), the Mini-reena quintuplets and the Biddy-Bab triplets are just some of the Biomechs that have this programme.

Capable of soothing adults and children alike, they are equipped with natural singing voices and internal music boxes, the only noticable differences is the eyes. Moon’s, for example turn tropical blue, hypnotising his target into a stationary position, then the soothing begins. Again, the program must be active for this to work.

Though their name suggests that they mainly calm, Moon could - for example - manipulate Sun into a frenzied anger that would activate his Military Doll programming.

The only issue with the program is that soothers cannot sooth each other, something Moon wishes he could do for his brothers when they are harmed.

Scarlet Dolls:

Scarlet Dolls are programmed for the more illicit behaviours of humans and Biomechs alike.

Eleanor and Earth are just a couple of examples of this kind of doll. They are basically sex slaves.

Used mainly for sexual exploitation, they allow anyone to do anything to them if they are triggered. Unlike other dolls, Scarlet Dolls have to be triggered. Once triggered, Eleanor, for example, will let anyone do whatever they want to her, and she will seem like she enjoys it, craves it, needs it.

Though Earth is free of her life as a Scarlet mental and emotional scars have meant that she struggles to be intimate with Monty, who worships the ground she walks on.

Trigger Dolls:

Trigger Doll is an umbrella term for Biomechs with programming that can be turned on or off. Military Dolls and Scarlet Dolls are two types of these.

Commonly vocal commands, some triggers can be emotional; a prime example of this is the Helios brothers. All four of them are viscously protective of each other and the emotional impact will activate their programming, turning them into cold calculating killers.

Some triggers, however, can come in the form of bloodshed. Bloodmoon and Ruin, for example, will spiral into frenzies so severe that only Sun and Moon can quell them. Sun likes to joke and he enjoys nibbling on a finger when Ruin kills a human.

How much did your trunk weight?

When was the last time you’ve gone shopping with a friend?  June – Reena and I went crazy at the Chatuchak market. By the end of the night I literally had street food on one hand and shopping bags on the other hand/lining up my wrist haha.

It sounds reckless saying it like that, but I never ever devote that much energy and money to shopping to begin with; so for that one night I allowed myself to have fun and get at least one thing for each loved one.

If you’re not already, when do you plan on getting married?  I honestly don't plan on it anymore. I don't mind being on my own for the rest of my life.

Do you like your nose?  I've been told that it's cute but I personally don't have strong feelings towards it, and I don't get why Filipinos are so passionately judgy about flat and sharp noses either.

Are you one of those people who listen to songs on repeat?  Not usually! Only time I do so these days is when a BTS member comes out with a new song, and I've never disliked anything any one of them has put out so these songs just naturally end up as repeat-worthy for me.

Is there an accent you prefer?  Not really.

Would you date the lead singer of a band?  No. That's essentially like being in a long-distance relationship, which I've never had and subsequently wouldn't know how to handle.

Do/did you have to wear a uniform to your high school?  From kinder to high school, yes. That's why college felt so liberating the second I stepped into my university haha. I was wearing shorts by my first week.

Have you ever visited a sex shop?  I have.

How many cousins do you have? What are their names?  Only counting first cousins, 12. The list of cousins would technically never end, especially if you're Filipino.

Have you ever had a scary encounter with a wild animal?  Kind of. I was in a mini safari once and this big bird that was freely walking around suddenly went for me when they saw me using my camera. My stance/form may have looked threatening so I fully blame myself here, but anyway I just tried to stay as calm as possible when they started pecking all over my feet until a guide noticed us and led the bird away.

Have you ever had sex in a kitchen?  Never went beyond making out.

Which part of your state/province do you live in?  The westernmost part, already bordering Metro Manila.

Who in your life can you count on the most?  My mom and sister.

Have you ever wanted to be the opposite gender?  I guess, when I had been an annoying teenager who thought girly things were annoying.

What’s a fictional being you would like to be? Like a vampire, an elf, etc.  Idk, maybe vampire. It'd be cool to be a Cullen just so I can also live in a nice big house and so that all I have to do is repeat high school over and over again lol.

Do you like frogs?  Well, not particularly. I don't dislike them, but you can say I'm scared of them. We have a lot of them in our neighborhood and we've even had a couple actually make it inside our home a few times.

What’s the creepiest thing someone has ever done to you?  So I was at a party with some friends, and it was like 3 AM when we decided to get out of the bar and get some air. To describe the setup, the bar we stayed at was part of a bigger complex of just bars and clubs, so at that point – 3 AM – everyone was naturally super drunk, vomiting all over the place, staggering, etc. We were just walking when all of a sudden this clearly intoxicated dude just started going for me with a super rapey look in his eyes and it was the single most unsettling thing I've ever experienced. I have never pulled away from a gaze and walked away quicker in my whole life.

Does being scared or nervous make you need to poop?  IT REALLY DOES. Holy shit this is my least favorite thing to go through at work. LOL I always feel like taking a shit moments before I enter a call or present a deck, even though I've been doing the same routine for three years already. I never get used to it.

Does it bother you when dogs lick you?  It has never bothered me and I don't think it ever will.

Have you ever lost a nail completely for any reason? What happened?  Yeah, my toenails. I used to play competitive table tennis in high school and my toes always took a beating from the games.

Have you ever had any experience with alcoholism?  Not me but I have seen it happen to a few family members which is a big reason why my childhood years are a part of my life that I do not look back fondly and proudly on. I hated the idea of alcohol and I judged everyone who drank for years because of all the trauma, until I got to try it for myself – it was then that I realized that those relatives were just stupidly unable to handle their alcohol.

How often do you see family members that you don’t live with?  It depends on who. My grandma and some of my cousins live in the village next to ours so we see each other, like, every Sunday lol; but I have family who live in other provinces or other countries altogether that I see much more infrequently.

What color eyes do your pet(s) have?  Black.

If you could have a car in any color, which color would you choose?  I have a white car now and have no other preference.

Do you plan to vote in the next election?  Yes.

Have you ever used anything unusual to masturbate with before? If so, what?  Nope.

Who is the last person that saw you naked?  I think it was just my ex.

Are you more likely to give a hickey to someone else or get one?  It can go either way tbh.

What is something you want but can’t afford to buy?  A condo unit.

What type of church do you like the most, if any?  I'm not interested in churches at all, not even the architectural aspect of it. Even if I found myself in a place known for their churches, like Italy or Spain, I will skip out on the churches. Just reminds me too much of religion.

I knew about his death, but I just never knew how his was all too similar to Eddie Guerrero's – harbored a drug addiction, decided to clean up, and having your life cut short just as you get your act together. Shitty situation altogether.

What would your parents be surprised to learn about you?  I used to do voice memos in the few months following my breakup, which was my way of letting all my thoughts and anguish and sadness out. I had no money for a therapist and I didn't want to bother anybody whenever I cried – and this was in 2020 when the world froze – so I would just turn the mic on and let myself process my emotions out loud to my phone. I never listened to them and it was strictly a way for me to just have a venue to talk and talk and talk.

What fictional character do you have the biggest crush on?  Patch from the Hush, Hush series hahahah. Also Han Jipyeong from Start-Up :(

What one thing would you be most disappointed if you never got to experience it?  Going to Wrestlemania 50. That's a childhood dream and a literal once-in-a-lifetime experience, so I would be very devastated if things didn't work out for me.

What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?  Give a considerable portion to my parents, and to also beg them not to tell anyone.

If earth could only have one condiment for the rest of time, what would you pick to keep around?  MAYONNAISE.

What is your weirdest dealbreaker?  Not adventurous with food. Pickiness is fine, but if they like eating the same, like, 10 things and/or find street food gross then that's a gigantic pet peeve.

What was your favorite TV show as a kid?  Spongebob.

What is the weirdest thing you find attractive in a person?  Body hair, I guess? Not excessive though.

What is the scariest experience you have ever had?  Driving through Manila with 2% cellphone battery. NEVER AGAIN.

If I was ever held at gunpoint and told to make a fnaf highschool au, I'd make it about the Funtimes: weird theatre kids who have a strange obsession with clown and circus imagery.

Freshmen: minireenas, bidybabs

Sophomores: Baby, Lolbit

Juniors: Freddy, Foxy, Chica

Seniors: Ballora, Eggs, Mari

Freddy, Foxy, Ballora and Baby are the stars✨. Their funky team name is Ennard. No, Ennard is not a separate character in this AU.

All of them except Ballora fight to the death over who's the best at acting.

Bonbon is Freddy's younger brother who goes to their rehearsals bc their parents aren't home. He usually ends up with a small part in whatever play they end up doing.

Bonbon, Baby and Ballora are also nicknames: Bonbon (Benny) because Freddy dyed his hair blue like the sweet as a prank, Baby (Elizabeth) because she was the first freshman to get a lead role and Ballora (Reena) because she does ballet.

Speaking of Ballora, the Minireenas are freshmen and Ballora fangirls. They worship her every move and are very gay for her. Everyone calls them the minireenas because they dress like Ballora and so look like mini versions of her (get it, like mini Reenas)

Foxy is a nickname too: she wanted to change his name after coming out as genderfluid but hasn't thought of anything good yet.

Lolbit is Foxy's younger sibling who helps backstage. They also do twitch streams there. They have kitty cat ear headphones, but claims they're fox ears.

Handunit (Hank or something) is the play director. He is stressed because no-one ever listens to him, but can and will do a really good angsty teen voice when in a good mood.

They all hate freshmen and so refer to all freshmen theatre kids as Bidybabs (derogatory).

Chica used to be one of them but abandoned them for the band kids (i.e. El Chipe and Music Man. She's in a poly relationship with them). She does backing tracks for the musical numbers now. It's extremely awkward.

Eggs (Michael) is Baby's older brother. He also works backstage, and usually handles the electrical stuff. Lolbit claims they could do it, but they aren't trusted around electronics after the hacking incident.

Baby and Egg's younger brother is an 8th grader. They think it's funny to never call him by his real name so they just call him whatever name pops into their heads first. To avoid confusion, they also refer to him as CC.

CC is best friends with Cassidy, and they call themselves the Golden Duo. The two also hang out with Gabriel, Jeremy, Fritz and Susie.

Mari (Charlie) is Egg's best friend. People call her Marionette due to their emo swag. They use she/they pronouns.

Toy Chica is an alpha bitch, Toy Bonnie is the Twink She Keeps Around, Toy Freddy is a gamer, Mangle is a contortionist, Mari is, as previously stated, an emo and Balloon boy is a cunt. Somehow, they are the Popular Group.
