THE BAU’s FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIAS:
EMILY: TWITTER - Something about her just screams ‘I scroll rage bait first thing in the morning before I head to Quantico to defend my country.’
Tumblr media
HOTCH: NORDVPN - Literally just a VPN. Maybe several. He doesnt play around when it comes to personal cyber security.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
SPENCER: WIKIPEDIA - He has a compulsion to correct all the misinformation. Only reason he ever ventures onto the internet.
Tumblr media
PENELOPE: TUMBLR - Has 14 side blogs and has met at least 10 of her mutuals. “Please don’t tell me you’re in love with a fictional character.”
Tumblr media
MORGAN: TINDER - Does this one even require commentary?
Tumblr media
TARA: YOUTUBE - She unwinds by watching video essays in the bath while she waits for her peel-off face mask to dry.
Tumblr media
LUKE: TIKTOK - His fyp consists of dog videos, cooking tutorials, and TikTok dances—he learns them in secret and busts them out whenever he has a small victory.

dad!spencer reid headcanons (part 1)
Tumblr media
for starters, he’s a girl dad. sorry, i don’t make the rules.
when his daughter is born, he’s immediately flooded with fears of not being an adequate father since he never had a great example growing up.
him starting off as a very anxious dad who wants to just to things right. this involved routine calls to jj and will who assured him he was doing great.
him making a habit of saying, "i love you" to her every night. a seemingly simple, but absolutely necessary gesture. he's worked with so many poor children who grew up unloved and in broken homes that he wants to make sure he affirms his love for her everyday and know she's wanted.
he monitors her constantly, observing her behavior for early warning signs of schizophrenia knowing the genetic component.
he reads story books to his kid every night (duh).
he's never really been one to splurge too much on himself, but when he is doing literal weekly trips spending too much money and time on bows, craft materials, rewards for doing well in school, and especially different books.
he loves that his girl has grown to love reading as much as him and he spends time setting up a calendar dedicated to weekly themes for books. the week he looks most forward to is fantasy week because he has his own wizard outfit stowed away in the closet
he enlists the help of morgan, who he hasn't seen in person for a few years, to help him build a bookshelf in his daughter's room because he has TOO many books.
when building the bookshelf with reid (it's mostly reid watching while morgan does the hard parts), morgan remarks that at this rate, his daughter will be smarter than him.
with transitioning away from the bau and now teaching, he has LOTS more time on his hands, so he ends up endlessly watching girls' hair tutorials on youtube and learning to put his daughter's hair into cute styles.
...penelope hears about his hairstyling passion and immediately gifts every form of bow, clips, hair ties, and hair style tools under the sun. she's also jealous of how good he is at it.

omg, i’m learning to crochet and i’m just imagining crocheting spence a scarf and him wearing it all the time
JUST IMAGINE
he’d be so touched that you made something for him with your bare hands
it would be one his favourite items, ever (folded neatly in his top draw when he’s not wearing it)
it wouldn’t matter if a few chains are wonky, he’d love it either way
i just imagine derek and emily taking the piss out of him for wearing it all the time. oh but penelope absolutely loves it!
anyways- yeh i’m crocheting
- 🦕 xx
written super fast cus i got inspired and not proof read, sorry guys
also i have not crocheted or have ever shown interest in crocheting my whole life so everything i made up so plz ignore the mistakes 😓enjoy!
scarf. spencer reid
Tumblr media
spencer reid x fem!reader
to tell you that you’re good at crocheting would be lying to you but you don’t think that spencer is lying at all, because of course for a man who knows everything about the workings of the world, he doesn’t know what a good crochet scarf looks like.
originally it was a prototype of yours, your first attempt after watching a youtube tutorial twice but spencer insists on having it, saying that it's too much yarn to go to waste and when you said that you can just pull it out, he didn't sit around to hear. he carries it around like a trophy of some sort, making a point of wearing it everywhere he goes.
your attempts of trying to tell him to knock it off, promising that you'll make another one that looks more decent but spencer says he likes the uneven lines, likes how the fluff rubs against his skin and how it keeps him warmer than a normal scarf. you think--scratch that, you know that it's all bullshit, but spencer's one immovable object to go against. getting ready to go to work together used to be your favorite part of the day but now it's just embarrassing.
embarrassing would be a wrong word. more like frustrating.
"you crocheted it in my favorite color yn," spencer defends the ugly scarf like it's his child, throwing it around his shoulder and wrapping it snugly around his neck. the purple looks absolutely offensive against the beige of his thrifted sweater, but his eyes melting and lips pouting at you made the look work. kind of. it's still fucking ugly.
"that's 'cause you bought the yarn for me spence," you roll your eyes exasperatedly. the scarf's been a conversation topic every morning since spencer saw it sitting sadly in your closet and fell in love with it. considering how spencer's entire wardrobe is made of old man clothes and unconventional colors, you would understand the appeal of something looking wonky and strange, but the scarf is a stretch.
to be honest, you think it's endearing, spencer's tainted fashion sense. it makes him look softer, heartier, like a welcoming little plush bear with his wispy curls and pink cheeks and gentle voice and worn cardigans. the scarf does fit all his criteria for a good piece of clothing so you should've saw it coming that he would hold on to it like his lifeline and you would tolerate it if he didn't go to every single person he sees throughout the day and boast about the maker of the scarf and you shrinking in the corner as he talks about you. morgan was the first to laugh about it, followed by emily.
"got the hands to diffuse a bomb but not one to crochet a decent scarf, huh?" morgan would say as he walks past your cubicle, a cheshire grin on his face. emily would chuckle. you would snap at him, "shut the hell up morgan," and then sigh. because what the hell. the scarf is so fucking ugly but spencer parades it like the queen's necklace.
you get better at crocheting--it helps you think and you would do it on the plane to new cases sometimes and threaten to stab emily if she makes fun of you--and eventually, you finish crocheting a duplicate for spencer's monstrosity of a purple scarf. this one is more in the shape of a scarf instead of one wacky-looking pasta noodle, with straight chains and the shade of purple on this one is cuter; dark and elegant. you couldn't wait to show it to spencer, couldn't wait for him to finally throw away the crusty scarf he loves so much.
the new one sits, folded neatly, on the table on his side of the bed. for days. winter rolls around and spencer wears it to fucking sleep.
"give that poor scarf a break reid," emily comments. spencer chews on his lip as he flicks through files, silent and unbothered, fingers unconsciously running through the bumpy chains, back and forth. you mumble your agreement and when he pays no attention to you like he did emily, too immerse in his work.
after work that day, you and spencer take a walk around the city, bodies huddled closely together. the first snowflake falls and spencer catches it on his finger, shoving his finger closely to your face, proud of himself. his grin is hidden underneath the purple scarf and for the first time, you don't mind.
"it melted," you tell him and spencer drops his hand, flicking at his index finger disappointedly.
"i can't wait for it to snow," he says, looking up at the grey sky.
"i can't wait for that scarf to decompose," you say, just speaking off the top of your head.
"i like the scarf," spencer quips, mood clashing yours.
"i know you do baby," you sigh, defeated. spencer's frozen fingers grasp yours and runs his fingers over the bumps of your knuckles. being so close you can smell him, soft and sweet like vanilla and old cotton and comfort. "why don't you ever wear the other one?"
spencer shrugs. "just doesn't feel the same." he adds. "and i like this purple better."

Redacted Boi Social Media Headcanons
Vincent only really uses Instagram, but is required by the Department to have it private because his human name is legally missing-presumed-dead and his face has a risk of being recognized if someone from his human life stumbled upon his Instagram. That said, he doesn't really screen people who request to follow him
Darlin' and Sam don't use any social medias. Darlin' has a Facebook from teenage years, but they deactivated it. But not fully deleted, so they can still be tagged in all the group photos posted to the pack page. In high school, Darlin' was the person who got a lot of unsolicited DMs because they were hot but they hate attention so they blocked everyone but their pack and deactivated. Darlin' reluctantly keeps their Discord for the pack server
David hates social media. He maintains the pack's private Facebook group and Discord server (though the latter is really more Asher's job, David's just in charge) but will not touch anything else. David's favorite social media is YouTube because he can lookup tutorials for anything and not have to ask anyone for help
Milo's a borderline Instagram influencer. He's got a gazillion followers (who all think he's hot, and he is). His Instagram is directly linked to his Facebook, so every picture and caption he puts on IG gets automatically posted to FB too
Marie comments only on Milo's Facebook (she has and kinda uses IG, but doesn't comment). She's the one that will leave the heartfelt comments with "Call me" at the end. She knows that's a meme among younger people that their older relatives leave "what a beautiful couple. Call me" comments, but she does it anyway. And guess what? She does it because it works. Milo👏 is👏a👏Mama's👏Boy👏 and he will call her when she leaves those comments
Asher doesn't use social media much, but is perpetually on Discord. He mods the pack's server, and like 6 others just for fun. He does post lots of pictures of Babe and selfies of the two of them together on the pack's Facebook though
Damien used to get into arguments on Twitter with randos. Huxley thinks it's funny to pull them up from when Damien was a teenager
Huxley was never much into most social medias but I like to think he'd be like that one TikTok dude who pops up on my Tumblr dash occasionally who explains how to do calisthenics and other workout stuff in a really simple, easy, modified way for people who are just getting started. People started following him because he's hot, and then realized he's actually like the nicest dude and doesn't know he's popular
Lasko's a Tumblr boy. I'm not taking constructive criticism on this
Gavin refuses to get an Instagram because he knows he'd get too addicted to it. He knows he's ridiculously good-looking and would amass a following supernaturally fast, and that's why he won't. But he has his old Facebook from when it first started to be popular. He got rid of all his old friends list and now just has Freelancer, Huxley, Lasko, Damien, and a handful of d(a)emon friends who also have Facebooks like Crux
Avior doesn't have any social media at all
Neither does Caelum and Gavin and Freelancer have decided not to expose him to the negativity of the internet
Vega refuses
Cam keeps a few things for professional purposes, but doesn't use them much
Guy is a Tumblrina. Guy is a Tumblrina. Guy is a Tumblrina. Guy is
Aaron's favorite is LinkedIn. This is a joke.
Elliott uses Pinterest a lot for aesthetic inspiration for dreams. He doesn't use much else
Blake is on like every social media all the time. Mostly for CloseKnit. But he also stalked Bestie from afar for a long time
James had to get rid of all of his when his job started getting more secretive and he had to have limited contact with the rest of the world
Morgan doesn't have any social media just as a way to keep himself and his magic safe. The Department protections didn't require it, but he thought it was for the best
Porter totally isn't jealous that Vincent has a higher IG follower count than him and his account isn't even private. He's always trailing like 20 behind

Lately, I've been seeing the take that Mia is just as bad as Misty for leaving Maya in Kurain. True, they both did leave Maya in Morgan's "care", but I think people are forgetting the difference in intent. Misty left her daughters because she felt great shame for disgracing her family; Mia left because she wanted to find out what happened to her mother, and also because she didn't want to feud with Maya over the Master role. She had seen how her mother and aunt argued over who should have power in Kurain, and decided she didn't want that with Maya.
And, unlike Misty, there is some evidence to suggest that Mia didn't just dump Maya in Kurain with no plans on seeing her again. For example, this line in 3-4:
Mia: (The detective back then was Valerie Hawthorne!) At first I thought shooting someone for a kidnapping was crossing the line, but... If it was to protect her little sister, I can understand why she did it...
Now, this is the closest Maya ever gets to being alluded to in the flashback cases, but it's telling. If Mia could understand Valerie's potential reasoning for shooting Terry, then it does seem to suggest that Maya is dear to her. Dear enough to go those lengths for her, which does explain why Morgan never pulled anything on Maya before Mia's murder. And considering how much she resents Maya, she could've tried.
In addition, there's their conversation at the beginning of 1-2, which does suggest a close sisterly relationship. We're never told exactly how much Maya knew about Redd White, though she probably knew more than Phoenix. Regardless, she knew enough that Mia trusted her with an important piece of evidence. That, and the tutorial Maya gives you about the press mechanic, implies Maya sat in with Mia during at least one trial.
I know the two don't interact a lot on screen, but from what little time they do share, and also how highly Maya seems to regard her; seems to suggest that Mia's leaving was less like child abandonment and more like a close sibling leaving for college. Mia likely did whatever she could to make sure her relationship with Maya was properly maintained. Perhaps, introduce her to burgers, the food Maya loves so much?
My point is that take misses the nuance in Mia's own reasoning for leaving, and also makes Maya and Mia's relationship feel more unnecessarily angsty than it really needs to be. I'm sure Maya did feel upset when Mia left, but I think as she got older, she would resent the system that played a part in that decision moreso than her own sister.

That poll got me thinking, so headcanons of CM character's online presence.
Garcia: has a private insta. She probably has her own server on Mastodon and/or she uses BSky. As I said on the tags before, I fully believe Garcia has a neocities and a bearblog, and it's all very cute/glittery and she posts a lot of tutorials and help people out. She's probably part of the free software movement.
Emily: had/has a tumblr nobody (except Garcia) knows about. She mostly posts about sci-fi and literature, sometimes art. I also think she would make those posts explaining how to get certain services from the government; every once in a while she'll post or correct an information about self-defense tips for women
JJ: private insta. she also has an account on reddit, which she uses mostly to judge if people are the asshole or not, and later in evolution uses it to learn about IA and stuff.
Reid: if he has an online presence (not likely) is probably a very simple bearblog where he posts reflections on works that he's read.
Morgan: insta. and he barely posts on it, when he does it, it's a thirst trap.
Hotch: His insta only exists so he can see what Jack is posting. (he also see what his other children - aka BAU - are posting)
Rossi: He has a offical instagram (usually taken care by someone else), and a private one with only like the BAU and his daughter and that's it. He also has a twitter, which he posts in every once in a while, mostly to fact-check info that's going on about profiling and talking about cooking. And I bet he did once the "I was one of the founders of the BAU, AMA." on reddit before a book came out as part of the marketing for the book. I can also see him showing up in streamings (either youtube or twitch) and playing something silly like Fortnite and being really fucking good at it.
Alex: has a blog where she talks about literature and weird things she's fascinated about. She doesn't use her actual name on the blog though, cause she doesn't want her students to find her. (Garcia makes Blake a part of her webring and help her set an guestbook on her blog so people can send her a message)
Tara: Private insta (she most posts stories though, nothing on the feed). Also a twitter account that doesn't have her name or picture on it and no mentions of her real life and she mostly post memes and comment on stuff. She might be even a little internet famous with that account.
Luke: Has 2 insta accounts. One, private for him. The second is for Roxy and she's famous.
Matt: private instagram account is mostly pictures of kids and wife. Has some pictures of himself being silly taken by his kids.
Elle: only twitter, without her name of course, she probably likes to shitpost.

now that i've finished dual destinies here is how i'd rank the aa games that i've played.
this started as a bulleted list but then as always i ended up rambling forever, so, some of it is under the cut. spoilers for AA1-5 & AAI1. anything not listed is a game i've not yet played
1. Ace Attorney (1)
can't beat the original. ok so maybe the first time i played turnabout samurai i got so bored i took a 3 year break. that's not the point. i was weak. i think this game is the tightest and as the introduction to the concept and the characters it does a surprisingly good job of balancing and developing all of them. pretty satisfying arcs and relationships for every major character. also 1-4 and 1-5 are two of The best cases ever.
2. Ace Attorney 3/Trials and Tribulations
this one coasts on the strength of the dahlia throughline. all three of her cases are great. the fey lore develops so well and so interestingly, i loved getting a chance to play mia, dahlia is the best AA villain, bridge to turnabout has so many great things going on, edgeworth v franziska rules, phoenix investigating with franziska rules. it had some of my favourite puzzles and puzzle solving. the weak points that lose it top spot for me are that i didn't like how edgeworth and franziska evaporate from 3-5 in the second half, i wish maya had a bigger role in 3-5, and i don't enjoy anything about godot. also the two middle cases bored me to tears
3. Ace Attorney 2/Justice for All
this is a messier game than the above two for sure and i also thought it had the worst puzzle writing of the original trilogy. the magatama's use here is a bit clunky. i also think the way edgeworth's disappearance and return is handled is not quite as satisfying as it could've been for such a big emotional thing. the execution of the start of 2-4 with maya's kidnapping and engarde hiring phoenix could've been done much smoother.
BUT: i love the expansion of the fey lore, introduction of morgan and pearl and kurain, and franziska is my specialest little girl and i love that she's here. and 2-4, especially as it goes on, is such a good interesting case and some of the BEST character stuff for phoenix and edgeworth and truly made me unwell about the ship indefinitely. edgeworth hunched over his desk with bugged out eyes through gritted teeth "the prosecution... rests..." ??? peak romance
4. Ace Attorney 4/Apollo Justice
this is a really fun game that has the difficult task of introducing a lot of new characters and it pulls that off fairly well. apollo, trucy and klavier are all really fun. it's super interesting to see phoenix as an NPC and see what a mysterious galaxybrain he is when you're not given a front-row ticket to his scattered thoughts. i think the mystery writing here was coherent and pretty tight and i had fun solving the puzzles. 4-1 is one of the best tutorial cases for sure.
downside is that it's underbaked and you can tell. the new characters, while likable, barely get a chance to shine or really develop. apollo is not really much more than an avatar, the story is still about phoenix. and even when i'm enjoying the game, it just does honestly feel kind of... mean... the way the game drops every character from the trilogy and does what it does with phoenix.
5. Ace Attorney Investigations 1
fun pixel sprites, some fun new characters, it's cool to be able to walk my lil dude around and click on stuff. some of it is pretty funny. there's a surprisingly large variety of new female characters in different kinds of roles and personalities and designs and i always appreciate that.
the mysteries are not very good and the puzzles are frequently frustrating. the lack of trial day structure means the pacing feels wonky in many places. the returning characters are not written very well, franziska in particular is a flanderized shadow of herself, and most damning of all: edgeworth, the main character, is not written particularly well. the bratworth flashback in particular shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the character established by the trilogy imo.
6. Ace Attorney 5/Dual Destinies
this game had most of the same flaws as AAI and it didn't even have nice art or fun investigation banter to save it. i like athena a lot, i love aura and canon lesbians, it's nice to see phoenix as a lawyer again and get some confirmation edgeworth and the feys didn't fuckin die off screen. aa5 klavier is fucking hilarious. some of the new NPCs are funny s/o to the orca and plonco and robin.
the non-chronological plot was unnecessarily convoluted, the dark age of the law was emphasized so much only to be totally underdeveloped, the phantom plot twist was cool for three seconds and then pretty stupid in retrospect. apollo's storyline is a disaster. trucy has been replaced by an automaton that talks about panties. the lack of being able to investigate scenery makes the investigation days short, hurts character development and contributes the pacing that makes every final trial day feel interminably long and infuriating. too many plot twists rely on the game simply not providing evidence until the last second, at which point the twist becomes obvious. the nicest thing i can say for dual destinies is that it didn't irreparably break anything i loved in the previous games.

Elise the Survivor
Tumblr media
She's originally a soft blonde, she dyed her hair to green one day and it just stuck. She was also originally very innocent, but being raped by the tutorial man broke something in her and now she sleeps with half the town or more than half. Before her huge mental breakdown, she was on the road to romancing Robin. But she got raped a lot, 107 times in 257 days so she's VERY traumatized. She ended up hypersexual due to that first rape.
She's also escaped Remy's estate twice (decided to stay and get the cow TF the 2nd time), Underground Brothel once thanks to Eden's help, been to the Asylum thrice (did the first 2 properly, escaped the last one through Eden again). Escaped and beat Eden twice (stayed the 3rd time), escaped and beat Morgan 3 times, Great Hawk escaped once (stayed the 2nd time). Despite her missing half a school year, she gets excellent scores on the exams whenever she does show up.
It's only recently she's been trying to get mentally better, wearing clothes that aren't just the bare minimum as she lives in fear of Bailey even before the Underground Brothel incident.
Out of everyone, Whitney and Eden are her favorites, though admittedly she hasn't been able to interact with either much due to her obsessive need to earn money. (Her skullduggery's shit, so she whores herself out)
Tumblr media
Due to her obsessive need for safety she has almost all the Stockholm Syndromes available and regularly visits Kylar's room at night to watch him sleep and deal with his parents. It's unknown why she does this, but perhaps she's come to obsess over the guy after the whole kidnapping event despite not making him a primary love interest. It's as if she finds comfort watching the guy at his most vulnerable.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
It's actually thanks to Kylar's Gothic gown gift that she's started to dress for herself. She used to have tattoos on every single part of her body and she's now working to remove them, even if it costs 3k to remove one EACH.
Tumblr media
Out of all my PCs, she's the oldest by 2 months or so, yet is clueless on the whole save and load abilities she holds, only thinking they go as far back as a few minutes ago. Oddly enough, she's the most skilled out of all of them albeit not for long as Noah's catching up and is far more serious about keeping her Temple vows.
One the bright side, thanks to all her trauma she has S on every single sex skill except buttocks, chest and her seduction skills. Thanks to the Asylum as well, she has an S in Athletics so she's very much capable of fending for herself now. Unfortunately her hypersexuality remains and she still doesn't care enough for her reputation, perhaps in time she'll heal but for now she's focused on getting rid of her cow TF.

wait, do you have advice/resources for beginning to sew clothes? i self drafted a totebag and have made a few small bags, but am hoping to branch out
Make mockups; do lots of test fittings throughout the process; finish your seams; clip your corners and curves; stitch the most visible and trickiest bits by hand, not machine (unless you're good enough with a machine!); learn the main properties of different fabrics; when you really wanna hold your fabric in place nicely, baste rather than pin; adjust the fit via triangles and curves; it's only fabric; it's okay to fuck up; accept that you WILL fuck-up and WILL have to undo and redo things and that that is OKAY.
^ Some things I personally have benefited from and wish I'd learned earlier!
Seriously, though — I should preface by saying that I myself am also a beginner. I follow some really brilliant costumers and cosplayers here on tumblr, and I am nowhere NEAR their level. (And I would welcome any advice/resources more experienced clothes-makers would like to share!) It's only in the last few years that I've gotten more into sewing, starting mainly with alterations of existing clothes and then moving into making things from scratch. I've figured out a lot just via trial and error — as well as by taking existing garments apart and looking at how they're made.
But, honestly, my main resource has been YouTube. There are tons of tutorials on there for specific techniques and garments, of course, and I do watch those. But I've also learned a LOT from the more entertainment-focused sewing content — the ones where the sewist isn't really trying to teach you how to make something, just making something cool and showing how they made it. There's so much knowledge to be gleaned just from watching them work and listening to them talk about why they used a certain stitch, how they resolved a fit issue, etc.
Some favorite creators include:
TheClosetHistorian: Makes stunning vintage and high-end fashion; big proponent of drafting your own patterns, and has tutorials on how to do so as well as on things like darts and seam finishing. Plus I find her voice and aesthetic very soothing.
Bernadette Banner: Focuses on using period-appropriate methods to create her garments (mainly 19th and early 20th c.), which means a lot of hand sewing. I've picked up a lot of hand-sewing tips and tricks from watching her work.
Vincent Briggs: Mainly 18th century garments, with very excellent tutorials on decorative buttons and buttonholes in particular. And how to make an adorable leaf-kerchief!
Morgan Donner: All-around crafter with a particular focus on medieval garments and other aspects of medieval culture. Does lots of non-sewing craft content I enjoy as well.
Rachel Maksy: Less focused on technical sewing skills and more so on costume making and other crafting, but she's very inventive and fun to watch and shows a lot of creative problem solving.
And a few specific tutorials:
Circle skirt drafting by Mariah Pattie
Making a split-side adjustable skirt by Ash L G
Seam finishing by Evelyn Wood
There are honestly too many good channels to list... Sewstine; The Stitchery; Nicole Rudolph; Shannon Makes...... Beyond the sheer entertainment value, what I really love about watching all of these creators is that each of them has their own particular specialties, preferred ways of doing things, etc. Some of them went to fashion school, some are self-taught. Some are very technical and precise, some of them work organically and messily. And I think that just as the measured, detail-oriented approach of someone like Bernadette Banner offers much instruction, so too (in a very different way) does the chaotic approach of someone like Micarah Tewers, who perhaps can make garment construction seem less intimidating by demonstrating that you don't have to precisely follow a step-by-step guide.
Right now, I'm almost done (SO CLOSE TO DONE) making a skirt. It's not a crazy difficult skirt, but it does have pockets, pleats, gathers, a zipper, an attached waistband with elastic, and a plaid pattern to consider the direction and matching of, so it required thought and planning. I had originally been planning to make the whole skirt using a hand-me-down McCalls pattern, but then decided I didn't like the fullness of that skirt, so I took only the pockets from that pattern and drafted the skirt itself using the circle skirt tutorial linked above. I used a quarter-circle with a 175% waist measurement for the front half, which is pleated, and a 150% waist measurement for the back half, which is gathered. I did frequent test fittings and had to take apart and redo a couple things. And whenever I wasn't exactly sure how to do something, I'd just Google it and find lots of help.
Like I said, some of my mutuals on here are far better at this than I am, and I feel a little silly talking about my skirt like it's some grand accomplishment and a little unqualified to offer resources/advice. But I guess I'm hoping that my experience can still be helpful precisely because I am still a beginner and am very much still in the phase of figuring it all out. And my method is basically to take in information and inspiration from a lot of different sources, find the courage to try things out, learn from my mistakes and try try again.
Congrats on your tote bags, anon, and best wishes on your sewing journeys to come!

He says y’all… Lola Kirke can y’all harder.
Produced by Elle King, the Nashville-based singer/actress’ latest track takes the piss at the bro country trend currently dominating the American airwaves, led by the likes of Jason Aldean and Morgan Wallen.
Her boots might be clean, but she likes her boys dirty, and bro, does Kirke create an earworm of a chorus, taking the campy country goodness to 11 with a bootscoot tutorial set against a Manhattan skyline.
Says Kirke (via NYLON):
‘I live in Nashville most of the time and I was listening to country radio, and I did honestly find myself very drawn to bro country, just because I feel like there’s a science behind those songs that makes them stick in my head. I was like, I want to, just as an experiment, as an exercise, try my hand at writing a bro country song.
‘Singing a bro country song as a woman made it feel very feminist — being able to sing about what I want and what I like and triumphing in a breakup or being independent, which are big themes. I feel like what I'm doing right now is making feminist country music, basically.’
Lola Kirke's upcoming EP, Country Curious, is out February 16, 2024. Read the review for her latest album, Lady for Sale, here.

Morgan Andrews, she/her
a graduate student at esu, studying biomedical engineering, she works as a teaching assistant for farley stillwell, oscorp researcher and guest lecturer
his public research into gene therapies using animal dna in humans to cure illnesses are why she applied to esu
mostly handling his tutorials and office hours, she is invited to take part in his newest project at oscorp when he needs more hands
she is introduced to 'mac gargan' told that he's going to be a subject in a clinical trial for a military project that will fund stillwell's 'real passions' and she will handle his intake
as the project continues she finds herself charmed by the increasingly sick gargan but her worries about his vitals are continually dismissed by stillwell
eventually it comes to ahead when she is kicked off the project when stillwell says she is overly emotional and not able to handle real projects
she continues to handle stillwell's responsibilities at the university until the news shows images of a 'scorpion' rampaging at the bugles offices and she is forced to face the realities of the project she was apart of
she requests a transfer to assist another lecturer and does her best to move forward but the guilt doesn't leave, convinced she should have fought stillwell more
eventually stealing lab time and using her copies of stillwell's notes to see if a stabilisation of the dna sequencing is possible

Kids On Brooms NCPS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kids On Brooms Homebrew characters! I use these 3 as tutorial characters for showing how to set up a character sheet. You can plug these characters into any school you want to run!
Selena is the most by the book and Morgan is the least. I think these are just some easy, fun NPC’s but you can use them however you want. Maybe your players will befriend Selena and use her pranks as a cover when snooping around. Maybe they’re prefect is Dominic. Maybe you player is one of Morgans favourite students.
Character sheets and class schedules! have fun with my blorbos :)
The Mason’s are a ‘new money’ family in the magical world. They live in Manolinia's capital Soniano. Their grandfather Geribib Mason created the charmed palanquins and his descendant since have been striving to achieve similar accolades. Geribib’s Eldest daughter Ingrid refined and patented a new potions bottle specifically made for better administering medicine to baby’s and toddler’s. Her children are Morgan, Dominic, and Selena.
Morgan is a teacher’s aid, they are studying Astronomy and as part of their course they must spend 3 years learning under a master. Their first apprenticeship didn’t go very well, the master they were working under didn’t want to share their knowledge or help Morgan in any way; the dropped the apprenticeship after just one semester and luckily they were taken in by the Astronomy teacher at Soniano’s Capital College of Manolinian Magics.
Dominic is a Prefect and takes great pride in the accomplishment. Dominic wants to be remembered, he wants something to point at and say ‘Look, I was here. I did something with my life’ And so at 15 he dedicated himself to numerology. It’s his best subject, he tutors younger years, he’s far ahead in his independent study of the subject. He doesn’t quite know what he’s going to do to mark his name in Numerology but he’ll figure it out, he just needs to research more to find it.
Selena doesn’t care for her families forced formalities, nor does she care for he idea that the only achievement that matter are academic. She is unruly and impertinent, a trickster, always pulling pranks. She best so far was summoning a whoopee cushion on the principles chair right before they sat down, and the whole school broke out in laughter. But now she has to find something to top that. In the mean time she will continue to pull pranks and be a general stain on her family, maybe if she can ruin their reputation a little they’ll see there’s more to the world than academics.

Hey mamas...
Posting anonymously because I still feel strange about this. Maybe I'm being paranoid.
My DS (8) was really obsessed with this YouTuber for a period of time this summer/fall. Obviously I always tried to redirect him toward educational content but sometimes as mamas we have to pick our battles. Anyway, it was more than just a typical level of being a fan. Him and his friend, we'll call her Mary (7), they would have play dates and ALL they would do was watch iPad. And they would get this really strange hypnotized look in their eyes, and it was honestly a little freaky how much they insisted on getting to watch this guy.
Something happened recently that destroyed my iPad (I can't get into it, that's a whole other story) and it hasn't been a problem since then. DS and Mary haven't asked since, and I haven't replaced the iPad. But it's still freaking me out.
He's called Sprog Monster. As far as I'm aware, it seems to be your typical Kids YouTube fare— slime tutorials, toy unboxing, stuff like that. I haven't actually watched it myself because I'm worried I might get hypnotized too if I do. Does anyone know what this is? Anyone watch it yourself? TIA.
Emily Covington Following. I'm having the same issue. DD (7) won't stop asking about Sprog Monster. I suspect she might be sneaking out of her room after bedtime to get to the iPad and watch him when I'm not looking.
Sarah Mills Following
Liz Robinson Following
Gwen Mathers These posts always make me so confused who this group is even for. Are people actually still letting their kids have unfettered access to YouTube? I mean, seriously, what do you expect?
Ashley Harmon (Admin) @.Gwen Mathers, please refer to group rules. No mom shaming.
Gwen Mathers @.Ashley Harmon what are you going to do, kick me again?
Ashley Harmon @.Gwen Mathers I won't hesitate
Morgan Smith @.Gwen Mathers Mods can chill out lmao. You're right and you should say it.
Michaela Witherspoon I've watched Sprog Monster before. My DS (5) is obsessed. I've only watched it once and I don't feel like I've been sucked in/hypnotized but I swear like 30 minutes did go by without me even noticing.
You're right, it is pretty typical kids youtube fare. But there's something kind of off about it. Can't put my finger on it. I feel like he might be a Magick or something. Idk. I'm scared.
Lilly Andrews @.Michaela Witherspoon there's literally no reason to be antimagick in this thread
Michaela Witherspoon @.Lilly Andrews How is that anti-Magick? I'm just saying that this guy might have our kids under a spell
Lilly Andrews @.Michaela Witherspoon well there's enough stigma around magicks in childcare spaces and comments like this just perpetuate it
Michaela Witherspoon @.Lilly Andrews I support Magicks in childcare as long as they're not HYPNOTIZING MY KIDS. What is wrong with you???
Emily Covington @.Lilly Andrews unless you have experienced the Sprog Monster problem you have NO RIGHT to comment!
Gwen Mathers @.Michaela Witherspoon @.Emily Covington Once again. What do y'all expect?
Michaela Witherspoon @.Gwen Mathers How dare you??? @.Ashley Harmon please ban for mom shaming. Against group rules.
Ashley Harmon (Admin) This is derailing. Everyone behave or I'm archiving this.
Morgan Smith @.Ashley Harmon ooooh mommy's bringing down the hammer
Alyssa Lopez Hi, fellow Sprog Monster Sufferer here. No idea what to do. Does anyone else have a problem where their kids won't stop yelling beep boop skidoo at random moments?
Anonymous member @.Alyssa Lopez YES. What does that mean??
Michaela Witherspoon @.Alyssa Lopez all I know is that he says it a lot. Might be some sort of trigger to start the spell. Kids find it hilarious for some reason.
Emily Covington OP, did you just smash the iPad or what?
Anonymous member @.Emily Covington Honestly I don't really want to get into it, but yes magic was involved.
Liz Robinson Don't smash the iPad. Do not destroy the iPad
Emily Covington @.Liz Robinson Why? Does that make it worse? OP said that helped...
Liz Robinson @.Emily Covington DO NOT
Ashley Harmon (Admin) @.Liz Robinson No need for caps
Liz Robinson @.Ashley Harmon NO NEED FOR YOU, FOOLISH ADMIN
Ashley Harmon (Admin) @.Liz Robinson Excuse me??
Liz Robinson Beep boop skidoo
Morgan Smith Chill she's trolling
Liz Robinson Sprog Monster is the way
Liz Robinson Sprog Monster is the way

Rust Compiler Performance Triage
A really quiet week with almost all regressions being due to noise in benchmarks that show "bimodality" in codegen that can cause swings in performance from one change to the other. The only true performance change was a two-line change by @nnethercote to remove a redundant function call which led to a 0.3% improvement in performance across roughly 15 benchmarks.
Triage done by @rylev. Revision range: 31f858d9..8f9e09ac
Summary:

Quote of the Week
(…) as much as i dislike the cargo-geiger concept, the name … kind of works
unsafe is a lot like uranium. it’s just one more metal ore you can process, refine, and machine. it doesn’t combust in atmosphere, it doesn’t corrode or make weird acids. unless you go out of your way to make it dangerous you don’t even have to worry about critical masses. you can work with it pretty normally most of the time
but if you don’t know exactly what it is, what it does, and how to work with it, it will cause mysterious illnesses that only crop up long after you’ve stopped touching it
– Alexander Payne on /r/rust
Thanks to Stephan Sokolow for the suggestion!
