Masterclass on Camera Techniques

In our BFI Academy course we got a class on camera techniques. We learnt how you can use tracking shots then followed by close ups to introduce an opening scene. We learnt how a large variety of shots can be cut down to just a couple in order to give the audience just the right amount of snippets to draw them in before we reach a climax and this was one of the things we talked about, how we did that was, using our imagination we took a scene in a church for instance and we would make the first couple of shots very long and still, then we could cut to another place but would still take slow shots not meaning to create a dramatic effect too early then as the story builds and we've introduced the characters we pick up the paste and start the unbalanced compositions and hand held camera positions.

I enjoyed this class especially because it showed how we can make our visual idea a much more interesting one by introducing and shooting them in the right way.

Skógafoss, fotografia ożywiona, new work from residency in Iceland. It’s a animated scan from 35mm negative. When I scanned the roll I’ve notice it’s nothing like my experience of this place. I froze the waterfall with my camera and it didn’t bring any feeling to me. I wanted to bring them back by creating the movement of the water. Feels better now?
