Pick Tumblr's Favorite Pokemon, Day 85!
Here's today's batch of pokemon! Who's your favorite? Remember, these first rounds are not single elimination - every pokemon with at least 9.5% of the vote will move on! (Note: the previous polls in this initial round were judged at 10% rounded, so i will be staying at that criteria to keep it fair)
Also, congrats to yesterday's winners!

pl:a is certainly intriguing, and i do like the catching-without-battling mechanic. but the game feels...unfinished? in particular the shading on the character and pokemon models doesn't seem as detailed as in swo/shi. can't quite put my finger on it but the swo/shi characters look like part of the background, and in p:la they're sitting in front of the background. the way the pokĂŠ models animate when you're at the far edge of their rendering radius is just terrible. i'm not a programmer so idk what the limitations of 3d modeling are
i've only had 2 actual glitches so far: once a paras tried to charge me but it got stuck in a tree, such that i couldn't hit it with an item or pokĂŠball, but it still counted as pursuing me. then once when i tried to enter a space-time distortion nothing happened; the lighting changed but none of the items or strong pokĂŠs spawned. leaving and re-entering the distortion fixed it.
i do NOT like how strong the wild pokemon are. it seems way more difficult than it used to be to train against wild pokĂŠmon.
really like how jubilife village is set up. the residents express fear about being close to pokĂŠmon but if you do enough side quests you can slowly find them pokĂŠmon partners to help them farm, make pickles, patrol, etc. loading times are faster entering buildings and areas, and it's really nice how there is almost no lag entering/leaving battles, like the transition is much smoother. there is so much interesting dialogue with side characters too! not even main characters, just little one-off convos. i think every character is named too which is neat.
the crafting system....eh. it's a nice thought, makes sense for the pokĂŠballs at least bc they're a "new" invention, but past that it's annoying. there's so many damn berries/herbs/mints and inventory capacity is extremely limited. that said, it's really fun sending out pokĂŠmon to knock berries from trees or reach items you don't want to climb to.
I LOVE BASCULEGION LOVE THAT TORPEDO FISH AND ITS RIDICULOUS JUMPS
final note is i like how you can change the camera angles the same way you can in the wild area in swo/shi, but everywhere. the game isn't an "easy" entry point into the series the way su/mo is but it's definitely a fascinating change to the status quo.

ok inspired by this post you rebloggedâ
imagine them double battling trainers and both doing the thing- Itâd go viral online if there is footage taken from that and imagine all the theories of Akari being Ingo & Emmets relatives blow up even more lmaoâ
Yes! @braparty art is so cute!! I especially love Ingo and Akariâs with expressionsďżź!
And I originally was gonna respond with something short but then this got so far away from me, so enjoy!
-
The first time Akari struck that pose beside Ingo had been at Mr. Dageroâs photo studio. ďżź
Ingo has had a appreciation for photography from the moment he had learned of the little shops opening. The warden started stopping by every so often to get a new photo of his PokĂŠmon and their new evolutions. Then, as he made friends with those in the security corps he would politely request that they stand for a photo, which they were happy to do so. (Zisu even hung the photo of them all together in her office at the dojo.) Ingo would gather these keepsakes in a small book that heâd keep in his pocket at all times. For him, having a physical image of past events and friends gave him a sense of security, as they ďżźwere much less ephemeral than his own memory.
Then came the morning that he encountered miss Akari at the studio. He requested she do him the honor of posing with him for a photo and she was happy to do so. It turned out she had developed her own fondness for photography for the same reasons he hadďżź.
Of the many photos they had taken that day, the one that stood out the most to him had been the one where Akari had mimicked him. In the photo itself she had also copied his frown but when she had asked him if she was doing the pose right she had the biggest grin. He couldnât understand the weird mix of emotions he felt at seeming this person who he cares so much for copying his pose. He knew it had an important meaning to him in his life before Hisui, and to see someone else doing it along side him⌠it meant something.
Much later, after discovering Ingos lost Arc-ďżź transceiver and being tasked to collect dozens of Hisuis regional Pokemon, Akari and Ingo find themselves traversing the Coronet highlands in the pouring rain to track down a reported flock of Rowletsďżź.
Theyâre forced to take to a long winding route through the mountains as the rain makes climbing to slippery for Ingo, and Lady Sneasler is ďżź currently unavailable to aid them. Akari is excited to learn the reason is that nobleďżź is expecting a clutch of eggs and has spent the week nesting in her den in preparation. But, as happy as that news is, Akari can tell that Ingo seems almost sad when he tells her about it. It takes her a moment to realize the reason. At the rate they currently ďżźare catching PokĂŠmon, by the time the eggs hatch Ingo and Akari will have long returned to their home beyond space and time, never to see Sneasler and her babies again.
Akari is at a loss for words for what to say. Ingo stays stone faced as always, moving forward in the rain. Akari hurries after only for Ingo to suddenly stop and throw his arm our in front of her to halt her ďżźadvance. She realizes something must be blocking the path up aheadďżź and goes silent. Nodding to each other, under the cover of the storm, Akari creeps forward to get a look at what Ingo saw.
There, standing side by side in the center of the road, are the bandit sisters Cloverďżź and Coin. Clearly they were planing on ganging up onďżź and robbing any travelers who unfortunate enough to cross their pathďżź. And yet Akari can only grin as she turns back to Ingo. She suggest they both take on the bandits together, with her Typhlosion, Dusk, vs Clovers Abomasnow, and his Gliscor vs Coins Toxicroak! Whoever makes their opponent drop first wins!ďżź
The thought of a double battle starts to bring back Ingoâs energy. In all his time in Hisui he had yet to experienceďżź one and yet the idea feels so familiar. Akariâs excitement is infections and sheâs so happy to see how Ingoâs eye have lit up at her suggestion.
The two confront the bandits and, on a pure whimďżź, Akari follows Ingoâs lead and mirrors his pose as he orders the sisters to stand clear of the tracks or risk their safety. The sheer volume of the command gives away his enthusiasm and joy of the moment. The battle may be a short one but itâs a battle none the less, and to have someone he cares for grinning by his side and pointing with him as he declares their challenge feels so familiar. He knows heâs done this before, in his life before Hisui.
The sisters try to stand their ground and intimidate the two but theyâre partners are at a severe disadvantage. Ingoâs Gliscor moves first and KOâs Toxicroak in one shot, while Dusks makes short work of Abomasnow. The bandits are pissed and promise their revenge before vanishing in a puff of smoke.
After gathering their rewards Ingo and Akari spend the rest of the trek to the Rowlet outbrake theorizing potential combos and duo match ups of double battles. Both are so excited at unlocking the memory of the existence of the battle method. They agree they theyâll need to start offering this battle style at the training grounds once they get back! If only so they can have trainers to battle.
By the time they reach the future and are challenged by modern trainers to double battles, Ingo and Akari have become a formidable duo! They have a good read on each other and can usually predict the other next move. Akari still mirrors Ingoâs pose every time they battle together because she can see the way he lights up when she does and also they look so cool.
Someone of course captures a picture and post it online, and tags #LikeFatherLikeDaughter and #SubwayBossJr starts trending. Emmet has allot of mixed feelings when he sees the pose of them together.

That shiny Sneasel and shiny Weavile should be canon.
Blue fire for Ponyta and Rapidash is a no brainer.
PANDA MUNCHLAX! PANDA SNORLAX! MY BABIES!
I feel as those shiny Togepi line should be straight up black feathers in a golden shell. Like a comforting starlight twinkle in the divine night sky. Or just peach feathers with an orange shell. Like a comforting sunset or sunrise.
But your idea is great too! I enjoy how it blends in with the sky.
Mew, Mewtwo and Ditto look great!
The Happiny line is very easy on the eyes. Nicely done.
The black and white Mime Jr and Mr. Mime creep me out. Aesthetically pleasing though.
Wobbuffet looks neat.
The Swinub line is very creative.
The Cyndaquil line looks cool. Though I would prefer a more volcanic esque shiny.
Some Shiny Fixes Because Iâm Bored
So itâs somewhat common knowledge that Togepi have bad shinies, with the triangles changing and the color darkening slightly making it look like next to nothing changed. I saw a video of someone changing the line to be mainly robin egg blue but their Togepi was so ugly since itâs shell was blue, and itâs skin was peachy. I changed it up a bit so the Togepi itself was blue instead of the shell. I think the line looks so cute with the robin egg blue.
How were these not the shinies for Mew and Mewtwo? I also threw in the Dittos because Ditto theory says Mew. The purple on Mewtwo is actually the colors of Ditto.
⌠Better than itâs actual shiny with how little it changes. I remember hearing itâs based on pandas so I gave the two a black (dark blue) and white pallet that I think is so cute!
I just did this one because I wanted to see what these two would look like if they had the colors of the other. Then I had the idea to make their fur change so I took the silver and changed the fur of the blue flamed horses and I love it.
Given the wide range of chances to the Happiny lineâs shiny forms, I wanted to give them a consistent shiny. They all got a periwinkle and magenta color and I quite like this change.
They didnât scream ice type enough so I made them an icy blue. I think it looks great on Swinub and Piloswine but not as much Mamoswine.Â
⌠Black and white like mimes.
Yes Wobbuffet is wearing Coral Blue Number 5, not important. Since theyâre blue and the whole Unown connection theory is a thing, I wanted to give them a blue tail and Unown gray bodies.
The current shinies and dark purple flames looks odd but cool to me.
I honestly both get and donât get the hate for the Sneasel and Weavile shinies, though I personally love them. I gave them icy blue feathers, a gray body instead of a dark blue one, and sapphires on their heads and Sneaselâs chest.

Whatâs Reiâs team for the tripletrain au? Like, does he have one of the starters from hisui on his team??? And does ingo get to keep his hisui team????
Well first off congrats on making me think really hard! Cause i had no clue!
But after some studying and thinking I may have at least the start of a possible team for him! Im starting him off with 6 pokemon even though the usual amount is just 3 or 4 for the twins but I wanted a variety cause im still not sure on a set team.
So! hisuian typhlosion! He got to keep it and still uses it to match with Ingos Chandelure! An Unfezant replacing the staraptor he had, a Caracosta which mirrors Emmets Archeops, a bisharp to fit with the steel pokemon used, a beheeyem replacing mr mime (theyre both very silly), and finally an Emolga replacing his pikachu!
I wanted to only go with unovan pokemon for his team besides typhlosion so thats why his original pokemon are replaced. I also wanted him to match with some of the twins pokemon. Though again, this isn't set in stone as I'm still gonna think on this for a while but I think its okay for a start
#i had steam pouring outta my ears trying to think some of this out#if anyone does have their own team ideas id love to hear it!#rei is always catching new pokemon so he probably has a wide array of teams#tripletrainau#rei pokemon#pokemon#anon#snailmail

Jumping the Rail - Zisu Intermission
There was something off about Akari.
The girl had always been a little odd, often a little spacey, but sheâd never been⌠reckless. Never quite so bold about challenging people. Especially Beni- Zisu had never heard what happened when the Commander had gone charging off up Mount Coronet, but she wasnât so blind that she missed the tension that had built between the restaurant owner, the girl, and the girlâs father. Akari had taken to giving Beni a wide berth, but now she was calling on him daily.
That was another thing- in all the battles Zisu had watched Akari perform, against her father or other members of the Survey and Security Corps, she had always had four pokemon she never changed. Sheâd always had her Typhlosion, her first partner, her Crobat, her Empoleon, and her Garchomp. They were her go-to team, her must trustworthy companions. Zisu had witnessed them force themselves out of frostbite and drowsiness to help her battle. While her last two were swapped intermittently, those four were always with her.
Now, her team was constantly changing. Her Empoleon and Garchomp looked⌠a bit different. They appeared smaller, if not bulkier, than before her disappearance. She frequently used a Froslass and a Mr Mime as well. Sheâd witnessed Akari cringe before Mr Mimes before so the fact she was now frequently battling with one was... different. Zisu would assume she was just changing her team around and experimenting were it not for one thing. Were it not for Ingo.
While she and the Warden werenât particularly close, she would go so far as to say they were friends. Friendly, at the very least. His stoic expression could be hard to read but she felt as though she was able to understand him after years of time spent at the training grounds. His jokes were often dry and might fly past her head, but by the squint of his eye and the quirk of his lip she could see his amusement. There had always been warmth in his gaze when Akari came calling to battle, the girl running up to him for a hug before quietly asking for a challenger. Now he seemed tired, stressed when she arrived. He held himself with a tension sheâd not seen before the storm. Sheâd heard the story about the amnesia, but Zisu wasnât captain of the Security Corps for nothing. She hadnât gotten to her position by being blunt, bullheaded, and dull. She was observant- not to the extent of the Survey Corps, but she could read people.
She knew Akari wasnât Akari.
Amnesia was a finicky thing, one she knew personally. Her own brother had gotten into an accident and woken up with only the barest memories. Sheâd watched her parents beg for his memory to return until heâd eventually gotten up and simply left one day. Heâd never returned. But she could remember that his habits had stayed the same- heâd always tilted his head to the left when focusing, snapped his fingers twice when heâd figured something out, and snorted twice before falling into deep-bellied laughter. She knew Ingo himself had amnesia, that he couldnât remember where heâd come from, but she knew from watching him that many of his habits were ingrained. The way he tossed his pokeballs to battle, his frequent calls of all board and bravo- they were never thought too deeply on, were not a focus, but instead something he did habitually. Amnesia could change people without changing them.
Akari was not Akari.
She did not worry her hands anymore, didnât cover her mouth when she laughed, and her personality was⌠incredibly different. She was constantly at the training grounds instead of stopping by intermittently, preferring to fight people - preferring to fight Beni - rather than do her survey work. She kept approaching the villagers, proffering her pokemon upon them for aid whether they liked it or not. The girl had left one day, waving a shy farewell to Zisu, and the next time she had shown up she had boldly introduced herself and asked who Zisu was. A sign above the rest, though, was the fact that Ingo had taken to calling her Miss Akari instead of simply her name. She didnât think too many other people noticed, or perhaps cared, but sheâd witnessed Akari playfully beating her father with her fists when he called her with âMissâ. For him to do so now was a separation, a way to protect himself and the strange girl at the same time.
So, yes. She knew. She knew that the girl who had landed in Pesselleâs infirmary was not the girl sheâd watched grow up, was not the girl she had tried to subtly encourage to get stronger and bolder. She knew the girl that Ingo had taken to guiding and hovering over - said to be out of nervousness after her disappearance - was not the girl that had feared battling her pokemon when sheâd first landed on Prelude Beach. But she was still Ingoâs friend, and she was well aware of the Commanderâs paranoia. She hadnât seen anything to concern her about the girlâs behavior. At least, not until now. The way she had recklessly gotten team after team of pokemon in a desperate attempt to beat Ingo, the way she had reached for the shining pokeball that held an Almighty Sinnoh, the way sheâd let Ingo walk away alone, and then - after everything - approaching Volo even though she well knew Ingo wouldnât want her around the merchant.
Zisu herself had never held a personal issue with Volo. Heâd always been polite, perhaps a little flirtatious, with her. But she knew Ingo very much disliked him and had from the start. She knew that Ingo would never ask her to linger but that he loathed being alone with the merchant. She knew damn well that Ingo had told Akari, or whoever was in her place, to not speak to the merchant alone. He scarcely trusted the man with his own daughter, he absolutely would not trust Volo with a stranger the same age as her. When she saw him call over the teenager alarm bells rang in her head. When he led her away they turned into a sirenâs scream.
Ingo was in Akariâs room, he wouldnât know that the girl had left. Zisu didnât want to disturb him, either. The appearance of Akariâs pokeballs had greatly, visibly, disturbed him. And while she may not be the smallest or sneakiest of people, she wasnât about to let them be alone just in case. Zisu called Ress over to take her post for a moment and set off after them at a quick clip, slowing down as they approached the front gates towards Prelude Beach. There wasnât much space to hide there but she couldnât let them be alone. She crouched down, pulling out the pokeball that contained her Zoroark and called him out. Seeing her crouched over he immediately did the same and she grinned.
âWeâve got a mission, Zoro,â she said quietly, âI need you to cast an illusion around us to make it seem like we arenât around so we can keep an eye on Ingoâs daughter and that merchant.â
He nodded and shut his eyes. A moment later she felt the illusion settle into place like a cold blanket around her. She shivered once and then patted his back firmly.
âThank you. Now, letâs go make sure that shady merchant doesnât need me to suplex him.â

Pokemon Card of the Day #2589: Dark Vileplume (Team Rocket)

Dark Vileplume was the kind of Pokemon that completely changed the game. It was the first to block Trainer cards, a type of card that filled over half of some decks and made strategies work. It was supposed to be balanced by also affecting the Dark Vileplume user, but since the person with Dark Vileplume had prepared for it in deck building it really just resulted in a one-sided thing. Thatâs not to say that it was unbeatable, as a counter existed and luck could still be a factor. It does mean that itâs the type of Pokemon that really needs a second look around here, as stall has become much more popular among players going to earlier formats and Dark Vileplumeâs situation has changed over the last several years as a result.
Despite what I said about Dark Vileplume being powerful, its stats were awful. 60 HP was just sad for a Stage 2, being lower than the top Basic Pokemon. It did mean that if Wigglytuff did somehow get fully set up, which wasnât too easy but was possible if said deck got a Muk up or Dark Vileplumeâs player had a slow set-up, it wouldnât be safe. To be fair, blocking Gust of Wind and Double Gust made Dark Vileplume way safer than youâd expect, but the low HP was notable nonetheless. The Fire Weakness did cause a bit of extra damage from Magmar in Base Set-focused formats, with Arcanine and Blaineâs Rapidash also taking advantage. It meant a bit less in Neo formats as the typeâs attackers were generally stronger there, though Typhlosion certainly wasnât going to complain about being able to KO even if it tried to play around with Metal Energy. Dark Vileplume also needed 2 Energy to retreat. While getting it stuck up front wasnât too common, it was a notable possibility if someone did get a Muk in play.
Hay Fever was an incredibly strong Pokemon Power that simply blocked all Trainer cards from being used. There was no limit on what kind of Trainer here, they were all unusable. This slowed games down to a halt, with the biggest impact being in Base formats where Trainers were usually the only decent way of getting through a deck. When Kangaskhan was a main exception you know things are bad. It did affect the user too, so it required some skill, but the strategy was generally to get Dark Vileplume up as soon as possible and build up a bulky attacker that didnât have to care about Energy Removal in those formats. It was best in the Base-Rocket onto the Base-Gym formats in this case, only worrying a bunch about Muk, which wasnât always free to get into play but completely wrecked the strategy. Some partners include Dark Golduck, which evolved from the early Trainer-locking Psyduck, Snorlax that wasnât affected by Pollen Stench flips, Alakazam and Mr. Mime to move small bits of damage around, and Dark Alakazam for pivoting. It should also be noted that while Dark Vileplume was still good in Prop 15/3, the lower amount of Trainers meant that people built decks differently in ways that could stand up a bit better to not being able to use those cards quite as much.
Base-Neo and Rocket-On werenât quite as good for Dark Vileplume to some extent, though obviously Hay Fever was still quite powerful. Cleffaâs existence, as well as Igglybuffâs to an extent, provided ways to potentially make progress. Dark Vileplume still had partners to be quite good, however. Erikaâs Victreebel could eventually force a switch, and Murkrow could lock a Pokemon into place while Trainers were locked down. That could be very hard to get out of and made even Baby Pokemon, that forced flips to attack successfully, quite a risk. The slower format in general did give more potential ways out for some decks, however, so while Dark Vileplume was still one of the better Pokemon especially in Rocket-On it wasnât quite as obviously dominant there.
Petal Whirlwind, on the other hand, wasnât worth using. The potential damage output wasnât bad. 3 flips for 30 damage on each heads was usable for 3 Grass Energy. The problem was that 2 or more heads made Dark Vileplume Confused, which shut off Hay Fever. You needed a second Dark Vileplume to keep Hay Fever up, and even if you had that you then couldnât use Trainers to safely retreat the Confused one. Dark Vileplume needed to rely entirely on other Pokemon to attack.
Blocking every Trainer was so powerful that games with it early on tended to be decided very quickly, even if said game technically dragged on for a while. Trying to find an out to Dark Vileplume locking Trainers when ways to strip a hand early was extremely tough, especially if the person using the card went first. The game eventually got some ways to work around it, and Muk always worked if it did get into play, but even a good counter existing didnât prevent Dark Vileplume from being one of the top Pokemon out there. This card was also the start of the long line of disruptive Vileplume cards that have seen high-level play over the years. If playing a different format and a Vileplume shows up to ruin your day, you can thank this card for the idea. If playing the older formats, youâll probably run into this sometimes, though some players intentionally avoid using it to get more fun match-ups where Trainers are allowed. It affects the game that much.

TERRIBLE at cooking. He almost burned down the Home Ec class.
His parents own a ranch south of Ecruteak City. They are one of the few breeders who provider Professor Elm with the starters for new trainers.

Connor wears nothing but long sleeves for his tops. On the rare occasion when he's wearing t-shirts or tank tops, one can be seen burn marks on his arms. When asked, he mentions they're from a hostile Typhlosion he raised.
Connor suffers from anxiety and depression due to a tragic accident in Kalos that killed his entire team. He hates Mega Evolution because of it.
Connor is a licensed Pokemon Ranger. He went to school in Almia for it before starting his actual Pokemon journey when he was 11.
Connor is a six-times Pokemon champion. He has successfully beaten the following leagues: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Paldea. He also completed the island challenge in Alola.
Has a fascination with Shiny Pokemon and is always studying about them!
Connor can understand and speak to Pokemon.
