after one billion years, I'm finally done with the first part of the high noon viktor fic... this is only the first half of the story, so there's more to come, but I'm wondering if maybe I should just post this as the first chapter to see if you guys are even interested in more? 😭

#also there's a part of my outline still in the word doc so#the word count for the first section is probably more like 11k or so#I've had sooo much writers block with this fic you don't even know lol#even now I'm not sure if I like it#I really hate posting multi chapter instead of just one long one shot though...#but it's probably gonna take another month to finish this fic... with all I've got going on irl maybe even longer..... ugh

Did you ever found it bizarre how most of the OFA users refer to each other by numbers instaed of names? I don't think it's because they are vestiges either, because they are capable of learning new information like normal people. There aren't even that many OFA users. there's only 9 of them and the vestiges literally spend most of their time with each other and Deku. I think there are 3 possibilities.
One being that Horikoshi didn't expect people to care about the vestiges outside of Yoichi and Nana as characters so by extent their actual names, but more as plot devices meant to draw AFO backstory's along and to assist Deku so he assumed people would be more interested in the order they achieved AFO (I'd argue that Yoichi is also basically a plot device, but that his emotional reactions are showed more often and that he's the only person AFO cares about, making him stay in sort dort of limbo between properly developed character and plot device).
Another possibility is that he initially wanted to portray the OFA vestiges as way too obsessed in their quest to defeat AFO to the point of loosing track of people's personalities including their own. A kind of objectification when they don't even really treat each other like mere soldiers, because even soldiers get called by their names and spend time together bonding like normal people outside of training and missions. I don't recall the vestiges ever having a conversation that didn't include defeating AFO or assisting Deku's hero journey. They told him to rest at times, but even that was only after he overexerted himself in his search for AFO and Tomura. The vestiges also showed care towards each other, but only ever talking about their hero work, like Yoichi's rescue, or the damage AFo did to them. I don't recall them ever talking to each other about their time while they were alive, talking about loved ones they don't get to see anymore, pleasure they never get to experience again, like food they like. I don't recall them ever considering to inspect the actual vestige world more. none of them said: "We've been in this room with chairs for so long. Can we change to setting that looks like nature.". They are also never shown having any small tlak or joking, which would show them trying to get some normalcy and portray them as human. Ironically, most villains had more actually humanizing scenes like this. I would've loved it if AFO called them hypocrites when they criticize him for using people like tools because even he calls his subordinates by names and they get to have normal bonding time with each other. Granted, AFO only ever saw his subordinates as tools and you could argue that all his kind and decent behavios was an act, which I agree, but it doesn't sound to me like the way the OFA vestiges see each other is more different. They seem to only have basic empathy but no desire to actually properly connect with others. Also, when AFO subordinates bonded it wasn't really due to his influence, but it shows that the people who work under him are not stopped and they are still perfectly capable of normal bonding, something the OFA vestiges are mostly not shown doing.
If anything, I would've preferred if instead of AFO being revealed to ever only seeing Tomura as a tool, he was instead revealed to have genuinely loved him all along and that he cared at least a little bit about his subordinates, even if he didn't seek to deeply know or to actively bond with most of them, he at least had enough pragmatism and empathy to at least refer to them by names and to deep down wish they get to enjoy normalcy instead of him just constantly focusing on defeating the enemies and how he and his subordinates suffered at the hands of the enemies and how to defeat them. It would've been so ironic if it turned out that the ultimate villain actually cares more about his people than the supposed ultimate heroes.
Well, that was more of an opinion piece than a question, but I am particualrly interested what your own thoughts are on the OFA users referring to each other by names is, not necessarily your view on my stance.
I touched on this in my chapter thoughts post for Chapter 369, and my opinion hasn’t changed significantly since then.
To summarize, I don’t think it’s very flattering to the OFA bearers that they refer to themselves mostly by number, and I do think you could read some pretty disturbing, angsty, or otherwise negative explanations into that (Let! OFA! Be! Creepy!!!). What bugs me the most, however, is that they talk about each other the way they do, and Deku refers to them mostly by number or by quirk name, but in the same breath the story gives Kudou a big stupid speech about how quirks are dangerous to AFO not because of their raw power, but because they reflect the wills of the people who bear them.[1] Wow, thanks, Kudou, it’s so compelling and profound to hear you talk about the humanity of people whom you, your compatriots, and the narrative refer to solely by number! Especially given that, at the time you were delivering that pretty little speech, the readers still didn’t know your fucking name.[2]
1: It is also stupid because it’s ahistorical and a weird erasure of prior worldbuilding in a way that whiffs of Horikoshi regretting that he ever came up with the MLA, and certainly regretting that the history he himself provided for the term “quirk” is so fraught and anti-inspirational.
2: We wouldn’t get a name for Kudou for almost another forty chapters, and when we did, we got it from All For One, not any of the OFA cohort.
That’s compounded by the fact that, yeah, the story and Deku really don’t care very much about the humanity of these people, being, in the main, far more focused on what their cool powers are, when Deku will be able to access them, how much stronger they’ll be for Deku than they were for their original bearers, and how many badass combination moves he’ll be able to brainstorm up for them. Indeed, En says explicitly in Chapter 308 that, rather than having too much respect towards the quirks, revering them as great individual powers, Deku should think of them as tools in his arsenal and combine them as needed.
Again, if the story leaned into the bearers regarding themselves as just gatekeepers of cool powers/tools for Deku's use rather than as human beings and treated that perception as a bad thing, or connected it to the element of the pre-All Might bearers thinking about OFA solely as a power intended to kill AFO, that’d be one thing. But instead we’re left with this weird disconnect between what the story says when its characters lecture AFO about how wrong and bad he is versus what the story shows via its own focuses.
I don’t really care enough about the OFA folks to spend a lot of time analyzing their behavior from a Watsonian standpoint, but as ever, BNHA’s Doylist problems drive me absolutely batty.
That said, I don’t think the OFA types are as wholly without moments showing their humanity or history as you suggest. Yoichi and Kudou talking about the latter’s rescue of the former is not “Hero work” to me, partly because I don’t think Kudou ever was a Hero in the professional sense, but mainly because it’s explicitly a conversation about a connection they made outside the roles and identities they’d had up until that moment. It is, however, still a conversation about One For All and its nature, so I can see why you wouldn’t want to count it towards recognition of their humanity outside of OFA.
No, what I’d really point to is Shinomori’s introduction. Banjo talks about Shinomori in a much more personal way than is typical for the group, describing aspects of Shinomori’s life that have nothing to do with OFA – he was a weirdo forest hermit long before Banjo met him! Further, the two of them very shortly get into a rather silly game of Black Whip tag, playful despite their dour expressions and the serious topic.
(Don't ask what this does to the explanation of Danger Sense functioning by detecting Hostile Intent, however.)
Wholly agreed that I’d have much preferred a more sincere AFO, though!
#bnha#bnha ofa#incidentally#the last databook's explanation of how these two met is the other thing I REALLY dislike about the OFA information section#it really undermines this characterful fun sincere connection when shinomori actively goes LOOKING for banjo to pass ofa to him#rather than them having met by circumstance and good fortune#honestly that whole aspect of the databook undermined all might's depiction of the OFA bearers as people who weren't chosen ones#but rather people who could only “pass it forward to whomever”#seeing as I rather liked the desperate edge and the reliance on the good faith of kind strangers all might implied#I really DON'T like this business of ofa being at the center of a multi-generational secret organization dedicated to taking down afo#but at least that's buried in a databook so it doesn't actively undermine or contradict the story by appearing in the manga itself#medusasea

Hogan's Heroes Christmas Carol word count: 5,346 5,556.
As you can see from the screenshot under the Read More, I've split the story into *counts* eleven parts. It's not going to be eleven chapters (I haven't decided yet if it's going to be more than one chapter), but this keeps all of the different parts and pieces organized and easy to find.
Sections with a blank white square don't have anything written in them yet, while sections with a lined white square do. I'm currently working on "Interlude in the Barracks 2," though I might skip ahead to "The Ghost of Christmas Present" because I've hit a bit of a wall with the other.
"Christmas Morning" is not actually written; I just had a couple of ideas that I wanted to jot down before I forgot them. Other than those two sections, the rest of the written-in sections are pretty much completed first drafts, though I still have to poke at them some more. As I've mentioned before, I still have to play around with Kinch's role as the Ghost of Christmas Past. I also have to add more of the mission this whole this is meant to distract Colonel Klink from. Last night I was thinking that maybe I should have instead had them do this whole morality play to try to get Klink to defect to the Allies, but then each ghostly sequence would have had to look very different and probably touch on things that I'm not going to put in a Hogan's Heroes fan fiction. So...completely over-the-top distraction from a mission it remains!
#original post#Hogan's Heroes#A Christmas Carol#Teddy Bear writes#the writing process#I have no idea why the icon for the second section has the corner folded over#if I do post this as a multi-chapter I'll probably combine the sections in twos#with Christmas Morning being the odd one out#it really depends on when I finish the whole thing#and how much time I have to post it before Christmas#because I'd like to have the whole thing up by then

Haii I just. Found your blog last night and I love the idea of getting an hourly Donqui on my dash!! However I can't exactly follow you yet cause I'm only on canto iv and I heard Don's canto is coming out in a week or two so I'm gonna have to stay away from all LimCo stuff until spoilers die down or I get there myself :(
Enjoy the canto, though! Deffo gonna come back here once I'm done speedrunning like 4-5 chapters (do all these events show up on the drive ticket after they're done? Am I allowed to watch gameplay of those before I get to canto vi??) and crying over identity levels
Tally ho, Valiant Fixer! To victory!!
ah, no worries! the canto's definitely not coming out that soon, as far as i'm aware - it should begin in October, if my understanding of things are correct. plenty of time to catch up!
i tag relevant spoilers for this most recent event as #WARP spoilers, and once our valiant Fixer's canto comes out, i'll tag for #canto 7 spoilers accordingly as well. i'm not sure if there is any consistent fandom-wide spoiler tag for Limbus, but #limbus company spoilers seems to be a common catch-all, so i suggest including that in your tag filters for now.
may fortune carry thee forth to glory, dear questant! ^u^
#thank you for the ask!#events show up on Drive as you go along#as for the gameplay videos thing: follow thine heart my friend. or - as they say - do whatever you want forever ^^#might do c7 tags in sections if the devs do a multi-stage release like the past few cantos. if so i'll do a PSA first!#limbus company

Happy New Year!
Somewhere in the world, it's already 2024.
I wish you all a fruitful and blessed year to come. I hope to continue writing and drawing - and hopefully improving with every post I share.
Thank you for your support and encouragement for the passed year. I never imagined that I would get this far by just writing/drawing things I enjoy.
For now, I'll continue writing a happy accident that I'll post within this coming week.

Fun facts about the upcoming bunnydoll/jaxatha story:
While writing the above-mentioned story, I ALSO leaned into the relationship dynamic between Jax and Gangle. I previously labelled it as a "situationship" and aimed to have it resemble a queer-platonic relationship.
HOWEVER, their interaction became so SPICEY, to the point where I decided to cut it out completely, as it didn't fit with what is revealed in Oasis AU thus far.
...and I also became too embarrassed to continue.😳
And I don't want to confuse my poor readers as much as I managed to confuse myself.
I almost tossed the entire (unfinished) draft aside to just start afresh, but I believe that it can be salvaged.
It'll just take a bit longer than I hoped.
#tadc oasis au#fanfiction#the amazing digital circus#tadc jax#tadc gangle#tadc ragatha#jax x ragatha#jax x gangle#multi-shipping struggles#oasis#my jax x gangle section was too spicey to be platonic#i want to spare the readers from the spice#i confused myself#I actually pondered how a poly-relationship would work#i'm still stuck on it#it'll blow over soon#shitpost#but seriously thanks for the support#happy 2024
