there are plenty of other mcrp projects that i will enjoy in the future and many creators whose content i will adore but the big reason qsmp hit so hard for me was the multilingual aspect, and nothing else will really manage to capture that. even when more multilingual servers happen, they won't have the same spark that qsmp started with, the same insane passion and community and love, the same novelty. but i'm so proud of all the doors that qsmp opened and all the opportunities that will continue after it, and i hope that every single person who worked on it and every creator who was on it knows what an incredible thing they helped to create and what connections they managed to inspire.

The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre | A Cultural Beacon in Western Sydney
Tumblr media
Historical Significance The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre stands as a tribute to creativity, culture, and community. Named after Leo Kelly, a passionate local leader and former mayor, the centre was established to provide a platform for the voices of Western Sydney’s diverse communities. Housed in a beautifully repurposed building that once served municipal functions, the Centre has become a vibrant space for exhibitions, performances, and collaborative art-making. It plays a vital role in celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and promoting inclusion through the arts.
When to Go The Centre is open throughout the year, with exhibitions, performances, and public programs rotating on a seasonal basis. Visiting during special events, such as festivals or launch nights, offers a more immersive experience. For those seeking a quieter visit, weekday afternoons tend to be more peaceful. School holidays are great times to visit for family-focused workshops and creative activities.
What to Do
Explore Contemporary Art Exhibitions: The gallery hosts thought-provoking exhibitions from emerging and established artists across various disciplines.
Join Public Workshops: Visitors can engage in hands-on experiences like painting, weaving, and cultural storytelling sessions.
Attend Performances: Music, dance, spoken word, and theatre productions take place regularly, often featuring local talent.
Enjoy the Outdoor Weaving Garden: This reflective space blends natural elements with artistic purpose, often used for community projects and open-air sessions.
Participate in Community Conversations: Forums and panel discussions are held to encourage dialogue around culture, identity, and creative practice.
FAQs Is there an entry fee to visit the Arts Centre? No, general admission is free. Some performances or workshops may require a ticket.
Is it suitable for children and families? Yes, many programs are family-friendly, especially during school holidays.
Is the building accessible for people with mobility needs? Yes, the centre is fully accessible, including restrooms and level pathways.
Can I take photos of the exhibitions? Photography is allowed in many spaces, but restrictions may apply for certain exhibitions.
Is there a café or food nearby? While the centre itself doesn’t house a café, many nearby eateries are within walking distance.
Conclusion The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre is more than just a gallery—it's a gathering place where creativity, identity, and community converge. Whether you're attending a performance, viewing an exhibition, or joining a workshop, the centre offers meaningful experiences that reflect the heart of Western Sydney. For anyone looking to connect with authentic, local culture, this is an essential stop.

seeing “anti woke” sonic fans is hilarious not only bc the series has always been political since the fucking beginning the mega drive games Already have environmentalist and anti authoritarian themes but also like. on an entirely meta level. sonic as a franchise has always been multicultural. like as in, that’s how it was fucking created. it was meant to appeal to both western and japanese markets and always had a mix of American and Japanese people working on it. sonic literally exists bc of multiculturalism and diversity the series is fundamentally a mix of both very japanese stuff and very American stuff. and this isn’t even getting into how specifically Black American culture Also heavily influenced the series most notably with its soundtrack. sonic literally would have not existed At All without diversity equity and inclusion bc it’s literally like, how the franchise was created, its very fascinating to read about but like this series literally Would Not Exist without that it’s very much at a base conceptual level a multicultural franchise it was designed to be.

waiiiitt I just realized the reason why I love QSMP so much as a concept is because it's kind of like my childhood growing up overseas oh my goooodddddd what if i cried
#its in the bonding over multicultural experiences#in school everyone would be from somewhere different from all over the world#and we were only at this place for a few years so we just vibed together and our differences didnt matter#but then sometimes we'd just end up talking about where we lived before#and sharing these crazy things we'd had as american kids in other countries#and we'd also for one reason or another have local kids sometimes talk about their own experiences as locals coming to the american school#and it was cool too!!#but coming back to live in the usa has been pretty isolating as someone who grew up outside here and no one else has left their state area#but the qsmp community has been bringing that culture exchange back into my life!!#and it's SOOO amazing to see people learning about outside their world and be part of that culture exchange again#and no its not the same and im not saying its supposed to be!#i love it so much i love learning about the outside world and how humanity is so varied and so so special#thank you qsmp this silly minecraft server has brought back a part of my life i thought i left behind forever when my family moved back#now im actually practicing my german again and picking up on more basic spanish than i ever thought id get#and im getting reinspired to want to aim to go back overseas rather than stay in america for job oppertunities#i thought i was resolved to suffer here forever but theres still a world out there thats not perfect but if my place isnt here its okay!

reddit white is like the typical racist guy living in a multicultural city with whom every time a nonwhite person enters their FOV they'll whip out the most predictable derisive racist quip like a pokemon shouting its own name. they'll consume nonwhite cultures as theatre but refuse to engage with it on the same level as white culture. tumblr white is like a gated community guy who is so unbelievably insulated from any nonwhite people or culture they'll straight up say wild shit like "well no one told me that dark skinned people didn't have thicker veins! how was i supposed to know that? you can't blame me for that!"

I really can’t wrap my head around how so many people nowadays grow up to be spiteful hateful cruel beings and participating in the destruction of the world.
Common sense and reality gets censored…
An ideology that only works in theory is celebrated
Racism is openly encouraged when white or "white-adjacent" (asian) people are involved and black crimes get ignored or toned down since they don’t fit their narrative.
We are currently watching worldwide how people throw a massive temper tantrum to get what they want with any means necessary and we‘re currently still unable to stop these loonies.
They do still get everything they want if they throw a bad enough tantrum…
The cycle needs to stop and so many people need to hear no!
And their tantrum doesn‘t get encouraged but punished instead!
I want common sense to return!
I want to see things being genuinely normal and not this insane ideology anymore!
I don’t want communism in my country or any other Country in the west!
I don’t want to be shamed because of the way I was born!
I want the world from 20 years back!
Far from perfect but still lightyears better than the insanity we live in!
I want to see more kindness again!
I want to be judged based on my personality not my skin color, religion or where I was born!
Has it really become this impossible?
Again, this is why social norms that lead to desirable outcomes were the norm for much of Western Civilization. This is why sensible people support in-grouping along racial and cultural lines, and why 'weirdos' with weird ideas were rejected. This is why low-crime/high-trust societies are most often found in homogenous cultures, not places pushing the multicultural scam. We're currently being held hostage by the suicidal empathy of maladaptive mutants with no stake in the future.
I want to be judged based on my personality not my skin color, religion or where I was born!
I want to be judged on merit and integrity also. I'm far from perfect, but I'm hard-working and drama-free in my personal life.

My city is so underrated. There’s a highway section that cuts right through the center and anytime I’m on it I look at the city scape and wonder “what’s she look like today?” Or “what’s her vibe today?”
Depending on what time of day, what day of the week, what season of the day (pun intended, it gets crazy here) I’ll envision a woman who means business, has a forward thinking mind, invests in her self care, and has open arms and love for everyone who crosses her threshold.
The inner workings of her composite though, the ideas, creativity, and vigor that comes from her neurons (us, the people), that’s what you stay around for.
Fuck she’s a beautiful creature.
