Banditry in the Ottoman Empire
[Article found on LevantineHeritage.com. Although it comes with citations, I didn’t see an author name.]
Tumblr media
n.b. The Zeybeks were a group of irregular militia and/or outlaw bandits, from the 17th to the early 20th century. The legendary outlaws Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe and Atçalı Kel Mehmet, proper Robin Hood figures in Anatolia, were both Zeybeks.
1. General
Banditry in the Ottoman Empire resulted from changes in the state’s military and fiscal organisation and the Empire’s integration into the world economy starting in the XVIth century. The bandit groups consisted of current mercenaries, ancient soldiers, nomads and peasants in a continuously redefined area of state-subject relationship. [1]
In the Ottoman Empire’s classical period, the timar-holding (military fief) sipahi (cavalry soldiers) formed the backbone of the Ottoman army and most of the military expenses were met by way of timar assignments, that is, through the collection of state taxes by the sipahi from timar assigned to them in the provinces. During the XVIth century, each military campaign caused the growth of the number of troops in the growing territorial scope. As a result, the State Treasury was frequently in need of a ready cash for the military's upkeep, especially in time of war. Therefore, the government was faced with the major task of reorganizing state finances to meet the challenging needs of changing times. [2]
2. Banditry in the 16th century
The major changes that had taken place beginning with the 1580s were brought about mainly by the decay of the timar and has (state’s domain), held earlier by beys, pashas (paşa), and other officials, came, at a swiftly growing rate, under the direct control of the State Treasury. Once under government control, most of the timar and has revenues were farmed out by iltizam; that is, the state, instead of assigning the revenues of sancaks to pashas or beys as has, farmed them out as mukata’a (tax farm) to mültezims [n.b. the highest bidders] or to governors who acted as mültezims. [3]
The treasury also tried to reduce expenditure on armed forces stationed in the provinces and more governors were expected to provide and pay for their own military retinues. Sekban sarıca (Anatolian mercenaries) or levend (vagrant peasant) troops began to be maintained by the local governors as part of their retinues. Therefore, a sizable number of armed bands roamed the Anatolian countryside in search of employment. Moreover, in order to survive they exacted illegal taxes called salgun from the peasants in spite of the government's attempt to secure its tax base and thus protect the peasants. [4]
In this context, the mercenaries who became vagrant during peace and the peasants exploited by increased arbitrary tax burdens started to engage in banditry activity in the Ottoman countryside. The famous Celali rebellions [5] emerged in this context as threat to the central authority. At the end of the XVIth century certain leaders of mercenary troops were able to traverse all of Anatolia, and set siege to major fortified towns. Nevertheless, Celali leaders whose main pretext for rebellion was the need to feed their mercenaries could be integrated into the system by the government; when they were given public office, the need of rebellion disappeared. [6]
3. Banditry in the 19th century
Another period in which the state military and fiscal organisation underwent transformation resulting in banditry was the XIXth century. The destruction of the Janissary troops in 1826 and Mahmut II’s consequent efforts to create a general conscription system led to the increase of banditry activity in the Empire. The former Janissaries continued their career as bandits and the subjects who faced for the first time the direct control of the central state began to desert and join the bandit groups. Especially after the Ottoman-Russian War of 1828-1829, the soldiers who could return to their homelands in search of employment often became bandits. Moreover, the conquest of Algeria by France in the 1830s caused the unemployment of young people who were sent regularly to Algeria from İzmir. They found refuge with the bandits active in the hinterland of İzmir. [7]

The fiscal transformation brought about by the tanzimat period also led to further development of banditry in the Ottoman provinces. The peasants who faced the new taxation structure and the notables who lost their ancient privileges resisted the military and fiscal centralisation attempts of the Tanzimat governments. [8] During 1840s and 1850s the government could not even collect the taxes imposed of the Aydın-İzmir region. [9]
Banditry intensified especially in the second half of the XIXth century. Particularly in the hinterland of İzmir around Ödemiş, Çine, Bayındır, Milas, Tire, and Nazilli, it was the bandits who were the actual masters of the region. The government, which could not prevent banditry and was in need of soldiers, forgave the bandits in return that they join to the army that would fight in the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878. The bandits accepted the offer; nevertheless, after the war they continued their usual activities in the region. [10]
4. Kidnappings
The integration of the Ottoman lands into the world economy also agitated the Ottoman subjects in the countryside. Foreigners, due to their increased numbers and extensive economic activity in this period, became a target for bandits, especially in the less well-policed countryside. The usual method was to kidnap persons and release them in exchange for a ransom. Between 1880 and 1902, a large proportion of these kidnappings, eight out of twenty-one, occurred in the Province of Aydın, the majority of these in or near İzmir [11].
5. Brigand gangs and leaders
Banditry had perhaps never been absent in rural western Anatolia. Brigands known as zeybek and pallikaria (in Greek: brave young men) were very active in the second half of the XIXth and in the begining of the XXth century. The most notorious Turkish bandit-leaders of the time were Çakırcalı Ahmed, killed in December 1883, and Çakırcalı Mehmed, who reportedly acted as a sort of Robin Hood, robbing the rich while distributing the booty among the poor. The government, unable to suppress his activities, tried to pacify him and his gang by offering a fixed annual income (in 1905) and later (in 1908) a “neutral zone” near Muğla, containing a çiftlik and including a monthly salary of TL 20. In October 1909, he was reported arrested near Ödemiş. This certainly was not true; he finally died in a surprise attack by government troops in the mountains near Milas in 1911. Hacı Mustafa, Mehmed’s cousin, succeeded him as gang-leader.
“Captain” Gheorghios, “Captain” Dhimos (both in the surroundings of Bornova and Buca), Kara Ali, Arnavut Ahmed, Arnavut Kazım, Tekeoğlu, Costa, and Çerkes Sami were also active in the region. The Dutch consul had the impression that these and other gangs of brigands had divided the whole province of Aydın among themselves, although conflicts between them sometimes must have led to bloodshed. In the period shortly before the Young-Turkish “revolution” (in July, 1908), acts of banditry seem to have increased because of bad harvests due to drought and the increased tax burden: the Dutch consul in İzmir reported on the plundering of wagons loaded with grain in Aleppo, and on customs stores robbed for the same reason in Beirut in November 1907. [12]

Locations of kidnappings in southwestern Anatolia, 1885-1911
Fritz Charnaud was kidnapped on September 21, 1885, at Salihli (“Saladin, 60 miles from Smyrna”); he was released on ransom of TL 1500 (TL 18 000 had at first been demanded). Three of the gang were killed and a fourth mortally wounded.
Messrs. R.C.H. and W.J. Wilkin and O. Whittal were kidnapped on September 24, 1887, near İzmir; one captive was released to negotiate; the ransom finally agreed upon was TL 800 (the demanded sum had been TL 3000); O.Whittal eventually died of privation during his captivity.
M. Waligorski, French entrepreneur of the İzmir-Kasaba railway, was captured by a gang of five men (three Montenegrines and two Bosnians, former workers of the railway company) in August 1896 not far from Alaşehir, probably as an act of personal revenge; he was released within 24 hours, against a ransom of TL 4000 paid by the company.
Captain Marriott was kidnapped at Köyceğiz on October 25, 1896; although the brigands demanded a ransom of TL 15 000, the local authorities paid TL 120 and granted a “free pardon” to the culprits.
James Whittal was captured on November 19, 1898, between İzmir and Burnova; he was released against a ransom of TL 500.
Messrs. Alphons Mille and Menoti were kidnapped by a gang of five brigands at a distance of 12 km from İzmir on January 4, 1901; they were released on January 7, against a ransom of TL 1000 (original demand: TL 5000); the culprits were arrested after some days; most of the money was recovered.
The abduction of a German called Richter, who was captured by a band of robbers, took place at the foot of Mount Olympus (meant is probably by Nif Dağ, present Kemalpaşa Dağı, east of İzmir) in about 1910. The ransom was paid by friends and the owners of the factory of optical instruments for which he worked.
Despite being accompanied by a guard at the time of his kidnapping, a Belgian, Lucien Tak, farmer at Çıplak near Tire, was kidnapped while en route to Tire by a brigand called Gülükçe. The ransom demanded was TL 5000, but the victim had no relatives and little money. He was released with the payment of TL 2700, brought together by the local Belgian community: TL 100 from the Belgian poor relief fund (armenkas) and the rest consisting of loans that would ruin him.
On june 3, 1914, finally the ethnic Greek (but Ottoman subject) Yanni Sokianos, employed in “Abbott’s Emery Mines Ltd.” was captured at Aziziye (three hours by railway from İzmir) by Turkish brigands and released for a ransom of TL 350 (originally TL 3000 had been demanded, but the firm had refused to pay).
Baron van Heemstra, owner of tobacco-plantations in Malkacıl and Oğlananası (one hour by train from İzmir plus one hour’s drive), was attacked by five armed men returning from Malkacık. He was held hostage at the Nymph Dağ (Nif Dağı); the kidnappers demanded a ransom of TL 10.000. The ransom was paid and Baron was released on May 23. A member of the band, Hadgi Vassili, was denounced to the authorities in Akhisar. The gang-leader Andrea (Captain Andrea) was overmastered, and Costa, another member, was arrested two days later. The rest escaped to Papazlı. In November 1911, Athanase Tromara, a member of the Andrea gang who had escaped from the Bodrum prison to Athens, sent a menacing letter to the Baron in which he demanded that he restore to him his valuables confiscated by the Turkish authorities or TL 65.

7. In 1829, the "romantic" bandit of the Aydın region Atçalı Kel Mehmet appeared as a threat to the local government. While he was a poor peasant, the fact that he could not marry with the landlord’s girl he liked made him the Robin Hood of the region. Even the people of Tire, Bayındır and Ödemiş acknowledged his authority in the region; therefore he declared himself as the vali (provincial governor). After a series of unsuccessful attempts, the government forces could capture him by means of collaboration of the local notables. Uluçay, Ç., Atçalı Kel Mehmet (İstanbul 1968).

9. One of the most important bandits of the mid of XIXth century was Katırcıyani. In the 1850s his gang engaged in numerous activities: they kidnapped traders, landlords and peasants in exchange for ransom, and attacked caravans and post offices. He had a large network of anchorage and many helpers: innkeepers, grocers and keepers of coffee shops. He also collaborated with foreign merchants and some local governors. A big greeting.! Could you tell me how was the rebellion against Sultan Osman II? Who was involved? What did Sultana Kosem do about it?Merry Christmas.! many blessings!
Thank you for the Christmas wishes. I’m a little late with this reply because it got longer than I expected.
I have already talked about the rebellion against Osman II: here and here.
As I said in one of those asks linked above, the rebellion had multiple causes:
a small glacial age (that actually crossed the entire continent) destroyed crops, provoking a shortage of food
the Imperial treasury was almost empty because of the frequent accession donatives that had to be paid to the troops
connected to point 1, an economic crisis had begun around the 1590s (when Safiye was accused to pay the Janissaries with debased coinage)
the disastrous campaign in Poland which exacerbated the difficulties that the Imperial treasury had: not only were military campaign expensive but the Ottomans didn't manage to capture Hotin even though their army was ten times larger than the Polish/Cossack one.
Osman II's distrust for the kul (the Janissaries + the Imperial cavalry) and vice versa: Osman II was said to go incognito in coffee houses at night and punish the kul members he found there. Moreover, he blamed them for the defeat in Poland; according to him, they hadn't done enough to capture Hotin. Vice versa, the kul thought that they were under inspection because Osman II hated them:
Like the other historians, [Peçevi] identifies the Hotin campaign as an occasion that worsened the already edgy relations between the sultan and the kul. But what Tuği presents as an arbitrary decision on payments, Peçevi exposes as an attempt by Sultan Osman to make the janissaries undergo a yoklama (administrative inspection) under the pretext of granting donative. This, Peçevi observes, annoyed them. It should be clarified that the yoklama in this context was an administrative device whose application might be a political risk, for in it the payrolls were checked against names to make sure that only active and serving soldiers, and veterans entitled to pensions, were paid rather than members of the janissaries’ civilian networks. That the yoklama did not rank among the janissaries’ best preferred leisure activities is not surprising. Peçevi adds another incident that contributed to these acrimonious relations. During the siege of Hotin, Karakaş Pasha, apparently a charismatic and bold commander, was “martyred;” this prompted the sultan’s reproach of the sipahis (imperial cavalry), who were already in low spirits, and they were deeply distressed. — Gabriel Piterberg, An Ottoman Tragedy: History and Historiography at Play
the revival of fratricide: Piterberg says that contemporaries were shocked that Osman II had executed his younger brother Mehmed.
The Ottoman historians, from Tuği to Naima, are so deeply shocked by this event that one might be misled to assume that fratricide was unheard of in Ottoman history.  — Piterberg
his marriage to Akile, which was deeply unpopular and seen as a breach of tradition:
At first, Esad Efendi refused the sultan’s intention to marry his daughter, because such a marriage would constitute a serious break in the Ottoman dynastic tradition. The bailo Giustinian notes that [...] these marriages were seen as new practices that could harm the well-being of the empire. Meanwhile, the government viziers were concerned in that the sultan’s marriage to the daughter of the mufti could disrupt the delicate balance of power in the imperial court for it would enable Esad Efendi to exert more influence over the sultan, thus emergence of an alternative focus of power among them. — Fikri Ciçek, An Examination of Daily Politics and Factionalism at the Ottoman Imperial Court in relation to the Regicide of Osman II (r. 1618-1622)
As Piterberg explains, Osman wasn't trying to create a new faction at court, he was simply emulating the first Osman:
the union of a sultan named Osman and a woman of an exalted ulema lineage evoked an inevitable memory for Ottomans. Some three centuries earlier, the eponymous founder of the Ottoman dynasty, Osman Gazi, had reportedly married the daughter of a foremost Sufi sheyh (head of a religious order), Ede Bali.
linked to his revival of the Gazi image through the emulation of Osman I (and the first Ottoman lords), there's Osman's "austere appearance":
... plain clothing and on a horse whose trappings were unadorned. Naima captures the mood of his earlier colleagues when he notes that Sultan Osman’s public appearance was “like that of a vagabond;" he also observes that for this reason the Istanbul folk rejoiced at Sultan Mustafa’s outfit in his second accession ceremony. [...] [Sir Thomas Roe] observed that the collapse of Osman’s reign and his personal tragic end stemmed from the fact that he lacked majesty. — Piterberg
Then, in May 1622, the tension reached its climax when Osman II allegedly concocted a plan with the Chief Black Eunuch, Süleyman Ağa:
the present body of kul—lest we forget, the janissary and imperial sipahi corps—would be done away with, a new one would be recruited in Anatolia, Syria, and Egypt, and the throne would be transferred from Istanbul to either Bursa, Damascus, or Cairo. Sultan Osman himself would lead the way and “cross over to Anatolia with the pretext of performing the hajj. The seriousness of Osman II’s intentions is evinced by the series of orders (emirler) he dispatched to some Anatolian ümera (provincial governors) whom he had deemed faithful. These orders, it is reported, contained instructions that would facilitate a successful realization of the plan. However, by setting the preparation in motion Sultan Osman divulged his intentions. There commenced a concerted effort, headed by the sheyhülislam Esad Efendi and the grand vezir Dilaver Pasha, to make the padishah abandon his venture.” — Piterberg
Osman II, though, was convinced that he had to go on because of a dream he had one night in early May:
In it he was sitting on his throne reading the Kuran. Then the Prophet appeared, snatched the Noble Pages away from the sultan’s hands, stripped him of his gown, and gave him a hard slap. The padishah fell from his throne, only to realize that his efforts to prostrate himself at the Prophet’s feet were to no avail, at which point he woke up. Sultan Osman first ordered an interpretation from Ömer Efendi. He told the padishah that the dream’s meaning had been to reproach him for having resolved to perform the hajj and then neglecting it. Therefore, and especially since he was already a gazi, the padishah must go to Mecca and become a haji too. This interpretation did not satisfy Sultan Osman, and he requested another opinion from the eminent Sufi sheyh Üsküdari Mahmud Efendi. [...] According to Tuği, Üsküdari Mahmud Efendi wrote in response to the sultan’s request: “The Kuran represents the authority of the Noble Şeriat [Islamic Law], and the gown represents the world of substance. The padishah ought to obtain divine companionship through repentance.” It might be possible to understand this interpretation as implying that the dream conveyed the message that Sultan Osman was divinely rejected as both a political leader (the gown) and the imam of the community (the Kuran). — Piterberg
(highlighting is mine)
Finally, on Wednesday 18 May 1622, Osman II ordered his belongings to be transferred to Üsküdar to cross over to Anatolia. The kul erupted: they assembled at the Süleymaniye Mosque and there drafted a petition to the sultan. He was to abandon his plan to cross over to Anatolia and he needed to punish the counsellors who led him astray. Osman II agreed not to leave Istanbul but refused to punish his counsellors (he also refused to substitute them). The next day, the kul's restlessness exploded when they realised that Osman II would not do what they had asked: they, therefore, marched to Topkapi Palace, reaching the harem.
Pausing in front of each of the three gates, and for longer pauses as the gates were becoming less publicly accessible, they finally faced the imperial harem (Harem-i Has or Harem-i Hümayun). The pause there was even more hesitant and further prolonged; some rank and file rushed to the imperial kitchens (matbah-i amire) to equip themselves with more weapons, just in case. Finally, after brief encounters with some pages and eunuchs, the kul found themselves, bewildered, within the harem. They began to echo a voice that called, “We want Sultan Mustafa.” Eventually the kul located Sultan Mustafa’s kafes, pierced their way through and pulled him out. At this point, Tuği, at least in some of the extant manuscripts, seems unable to restrain his emotions and inserts a narrator’s call to the audience: “In truth, being fair, wouldn’t you say ‘well done’ to the heroes who on that day hacked through the roof of such a big dome [that of the kafes], tied themselves with ropes, and descended toward Sultan Mustafa?” — Piterberg
At this point, Osman II surrendered both the Grand Vizier and the Chief Black Eunuch, who were immediately killed by the mob. Threatened, the ulema was forced to declare Mustafa I sultan and depose Osman II.
Mustafa was brought to the Old Palace to his mother but the army was afraid that Osman would retaliate, so they moved them in the janissaries' mosque, Orta Camii.
In the meantime, Osman II had been advised by his new Grand Vizier to take refuge at the house of the Janissaries Chief and, through him, try to regain the kul's support with bribery. In the morning of May 20th, Ali Ağa tried to follow the sultan's orders but was killed. The new Grand Vizier was killed too.
The kul, therefore, took possession of Osman II, who underwent unprecedented humiliation during his transferral to Orta Camii:
He was brought out and, mounted “on a workhorse,” was led to Orta Cami. His head was uncovered, he looked “wretched with disordered locks of hair,” and “tears dropped from the eyes of  that sinless deceased.” A sipahi called Pazanoğlu felt sorry for him “and put his own turban on the padishah’s head.” Things got worse for Genç Osman. The historians stress the extent of public exposure, and along the streets he was constantly abused. “Had the nonsense and filthy abuse uttered on the road been told here, it would have brought grief to men,” Tuği remarks. He continues nonetheless: Only this much can be told [from what was uttered]: “Is this the precious Osman Çelebi who raided the coffee shops and put the sipahis and janissaries on galleys?” When one vile, disrespectfully nasty [person] named Altuncuoğlu pinched the foot of the blessed padishah and uttered some nonsense, the oppressed deceased wept: “O [you] bad-mannered, am I not your padishah? Are you not through with youth?” — Piterberg
Inside Orta Camii, Halime and the "ringleaders" of the rebellion were discussing who to appoint as next Grand Vizier:
The valide sultan began to consult us [a group of seven or eight janissary officers] as to who should become the grand vezir. We surmised that she was inclined to her son-in-law Davud Pasha. [So] we also said, “This is reasonable.” — Peçevi
There was bad blood between Kara Davud Pasha and Osman II; contemporaries said that the sultan had undermined Davud Pasha's career. According to Piterberg, appointing him as Grand Vizier "was tantamount to signing Genç Osman’s death warrant". And indeed, Davud tried to kill Osman inside Orta Camii but was prevented from doing it. He, therefore, brought the former sultan to the fortress of Yedikule and had him strangled there, on the evening of May 20th, 1622. After it was done, he famously sent Osman's ear to Halime. Mustafa's second reign thus began.
As you can see, nowhere during the rebellion Kösem's name is mentioned. That's because she had nothing to do with it. While it's true that Mustafa I was brought to the Old Palace at some point, and Halime probably waited for news there before being transferred to Orta Camii for her security, Kösem may have just witnessed the whole thing. Of course, Mustafa's reinstatement on the throne benefited her too: first of all, it removed Osman (and possible descendants of his, had he reigned longer), but she may have also realised by 1622 that Mustafa was not going to sire any children or that his second reign would not have been particularly long. Murad was therefore first in line to the throne from May 20th onwards.

Behind the Fic: TW:OPT - Chapter 110 - 112
Three notes in one because, other than some name trivia, I have nothing to say for these filler training camp chapter.
WARNING: This will contain a bit of spoiler for the newest chapters of my fan fiction, Twisted-Wonderland: Our Precious Treasure.
Chapter 110: Extreme Banquet!
There isn’t that much thing to say about this chapter really.
Kalim’s parade is inspired by Prince Ali sequence in the animated movie and his SSR Dorm Uniform story.
Chapter 111: Follow in My Footsteps, Shoe by Shoe!
This chapter and the next's format are inspired by Ride 34 of Cardfight Vanguard, which my favorite anime of all time (my childhood and still makes me smile rewatching it).
The title is a lyric from Learn to Do It from Anastasia.
There’s a HARDSTOP LUCAS’ 6 x 3 reference here.
Switching up a bit, we have the physical training before the cooking, which is more similar to Azul’s training later. And since Kalim is not in hypnotic mode, I imagine he’s more laid back and has a small get-together activity before bed, like a pillow fight, telling a scary story, or in this chapter case, fireworks.
Kalim is not stupid academically. Jamil teaches him and I believe his father at least teaches him too since he's the heir of the family. And being from a family of merchants, I'm sure he's good, if not better than Jamil in mathematic and economy. From how I see it, Kalim is more of a kinetic learner, like me, where you have to do something when you're studying (I personally prefer to rewrite my notes to memorize). So I can imagine his dad taking him to his office and teach him to count some treasure and trading profit.
Also, I can imagine Kalim will have sibling rivalry. Though whether it reached Mahabharata Pandavas vs Kauravas siblings rivalry, I have no idea. (I want to put more Mahabharata reference, but I don't know the full story, okay)
Okay, renaming the Scarabia NPC. I tried some variations from India and the Middle East since Aladdin is inspired by them. Also changing up their hairstyle and giving them eye color based on the characters from Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic because 1001 Nights has a big influence on it.
Scarabia Boy A: Ashoka Nigam His first name is named after Ashoka the Great, an Indian emperor of Maurya Dynasty, considered to be one of India's greatest emperors. His last name is named after Siddharth Nigam, the actor who played young Prince Ashoka in the 2015 Indian historical drama serial, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (English: The Great Emperor Ashoka). His hairstyle is based on Alibaba Saluja while his green eye color comes from Scheherazade from Magi. (Originally, he would also have Alibaba’s gold eyes, but Chandra took it first)
Scarabia Boy B: Chandra Asmoro Bangun Named after the two characters from the Panji tales, a cycle of Javanese stories, centered around the legendary prince of the same name from East Java, Indonesia. The characters are Prince Panji Asmoro Bangun and Princess Chandra Kirana from the tale of Chanda Kirana or the tales of Dewi Anggraeni. His hairstyle is based on Aladdin while his gold eye color comes from Sinbad from Magi.
Scarabia Boy C: Yudhi Bhardwaj His first name is named after Yudhishthira from the Hindu epic Mahabarata, the first among the five Pandavas, ruled Indraprastha and later Hastinapur. His last name is named after Rohit Bhardwaj, the actor who played Yudhishthira in the 2013 Indian mythological television series, Mahabharat. His hairstyle is based on Ren Hakuryuu while his eye color comes from Ren Kouha from Magi.
Scarabia Boy D: Mustafa Günsür His first name is named after Şehzade Mustafa, the first son of Sultan Süleyman (Suleiman the Magnificent) and Mahidevran Sultan and the first heir to the Ottoman throne. His last name is named after Mehmet Günsür, one of the three actors who played Şehzade Mustafa in the Turkish historical fiction television series, Muhteşem Yüzyıl (English: The Magnificent Century). His hairstyle is based on Morgiana while his eye color comes from Jafar from Magi.
I’m giving so many things for NPCs who probably won’t appear again. Then again I like to make my story unnecessarily packed.
The battle is loosely based on Kingdom Hearts’ Birth By Sleep Terra’s Experiment 221 Boss Fight, because I can’t really think of any Pokemon vs humans battle. Disappointing battle scene is disappointing.
Chapter 112: Once You Find Your Center, You Are Sure to Win!
The title of is from Mulan’s ‘I’ll Make a Man Out of You’.
This chapter is supposed to be one with the last chapter, but because I have no clue how to do training camp (Break & Gosh still haunts me), the cooking section is moved to this chapter.
In addition, a video call with Heartslabyul. The names were inspired by Shadowhope’s comment on AO3. Riddle and Deuce’s nickname is especially. I’m so sorry for Trey’s nickname though, I was thinking of ‘Dessert Dad’ but then ‘Sugar Daddy’ came to mind and I can’t stop laughing despite how out of context it is. Cater’s name is a spin from ‘Caw Caw Motherfucker’
The conversation between Jonah and Jamil mostly to giving a base for the later confrontation. Planting the seed of doubt.

Welcome to the week that was in the WWE. But before we get to the show recaps, there’s few things to get to during the week.
Paul Wight is now in AEW. That’s right. The superstar formerly known as The Big Show and The Giant is now All Elite. After 22 years, he’s left the WWE for what he hopes are greener pastures on a multi-year deal. You see, it seems like Wight feels like he has more left in the tank than the WWE thinks he does. As one who lives in New England, it’s a familiar story involving someone you might have heard of, you know, one Tom Brady. He not only left the Patriots but won his seventh Super Bowl at age 43 while the Patriots missed the playoffs. Wight had a great run in the WWE but his last memory in the company will be that in the Randy Orton storyline as a washed-up legend. His Netflix show, produced with WWE Studios, was canceled late last year as well. So, now it’s on to a return to Turner and TNT where he started as The Giant in WCW nearly a quarter century ago. We wish him nothing but the best. He’s a good guy who I met once in person doing radio in Providence, Rhode Island. His first assignment will be doing commentary with Tony Schiavone on Monday night’s AEW Dark: Elevation on You Tube followed by an appearance on Dynamite on Wednesday night. It should be very interesting in what is a very big signing (pun intended) for AEW and Tony Khan’s crew.
What’s up with the flurry of non-title matches?
On RAW, we got three non-title affairs. On NXT, we got another three matches with champions battling not with the championships on the line. What happened to the days when it was unique that champions even appeared on tv to wrestle? Now, it’s like a weekly thing. Seems to keep the luster off when a title is defended.
What happened to follow-up on storylines? Details people? Could we get an update on Keith Lee and why he’s not around? Could we get some closure on Lacey Evans’ pregnancy announcement from her side?
Elimination Chamber Thoughts – It’s been a long time coming, but Bobby Lashley is finally making his way back into the main event scene and I like it! If someone’s going to legitimately take down Drew McIntyre, Lashley’s a perfect candidate to do it. Plus, if The Miz was going to have a successful cash in with his Money In The Bank contract, he needed an underhanded, sure thing to get it done. MVP brokered the deal and got it done. All in all, a solid PPV that got us to Edge vs. Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania. Job done and kudos to Daniel Bryan and Cesaro for being stars in the chamber.
Star of the Week:
Bobby Lashley – Sure, Lashley did lose his United States Championship to Riddle. But he didn’t get pinned to lose it. And sure, The Miz did win the WWE Championship, so maybe he might deserve the spotlight. But we all know it was only because of Lashley that The Miz could’ve cashed in his Money In The Bank contract to get the victory over Drew McIntyre after the Elimination Chamber match. Plus, Lashley did get a dominant win over Braun Strowman to boot to keep his title match this Monday night against The Miz a one-on-one affair. Things are looking up for The Hurt Business’ top guy!
RAW

The New Day defeated RETRIBUTION (MACE & T-BAR)

Coming off the Elimination Chamber PPV, RAW was heavy on The Miz/Bobby Lashley storyline. That was to be expected and as expected, we got The Miz trying to weasel his way out of his deal with The Hurt Business to give Lashley a title match after hand-delivering The Miz the title on Sunday night with Lashley’s attack on Drew McIntyre after his Elimination Chamber title defense. Did we need Lashley having to beat Braun Strowman to keep it a one-on-one match, probably not. But it gets Strowman reintroduced to in-ring action and it makes Lashley look stronger going into this Monday’s match with The Miz.
"Go home. I am thankful for the doors you have opened. I am thankful for everything you have given me. But let me try to be Charlotte Flair. I love you, Dad." Spoken with her tears on #WWERaw, @MsCharlotteWWE just wants to put all of this in the past and move on. pic.twitter.com/oM3X3JgV5T
— WWE (@WWE) February 23, 2021
Elsewhere, the biggest thing coming out of Monday night was Charlotte Flair and Asuka. They get yet another match with the tag team champs and after Flair inadvertently knocks Asuka down, the RAW Women’s Champion is pissed, doesn’t take Flair’s apology and walks off. Meanwhile, we finally get a decent, detailed interaction between Charlotte and Ric Flair with both sides trying to explain their sides in the Lacey Evans mess. This comes a couple of weeks too late for me. It explained it, but it was out of context now that they have nowhere to go with Lacey, who’s now out due to her pregnancy.
Somebody get @sanbenito in next year's #RoyalRumble after that!#WWERaw @ArcherOfInfamy pic.twitter.com/jItNbxbVY0
— WWE (@WWE) February 23, 2021
Bad Bunny and Damian Priest continue to shine as we expect them to get a WrestleMania match with The Miz and John Morrison after The Miz drops his title to Bobby Lashley. It’s a good, entertaining pairing that has some upside.
I don’t exactly understand why we needed AJ Styles against Ricochet again in short fashion just to have Omos beat up Ricochet after the match. Seemed like just a time filler. The same can be said of Sheamus vs. Jeff Hardy and the ladies tag team match.
What … just happened to @RandyOrton? #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/39gN3EUxHg
— WWE (@WWE) February 23, 2021
Randy Orton getting choked up on some nasty black goo was interesting. Yes, Alexa Bliss is up to her fiendish ways again. I love that she doesn’t have to actually appear in order to affect a storyline. That’s good tv right there.
Maybe, finally, we get the end to the wretched RETRIBUTION angle after Mustafa Ali walks out on them when they lose yet again to The New Day. He’s better without them but they’ve wasted months trying to get a group over that never had a chance.
Riddle and The Hurt Business get non-title wins. I hope they give Riddle a bit of a stretch as champion to prove himself. As for THB, I’m not sure if they’re going to continue the dissension angle or keep the group together when Lashley becomes WWE Champion. After all, the champ will need some coverage in fending off new challengers, right.
Rhea Ripley is coming soon!
NXT
RESULTS
Non-title NXT North American Championship Match: Dexter Lumis defeated Johnny Gargano
Leon Ruff vs. Tyler Rust went to a no-contest
Non-title NXT Women’s Championship Match: Io Shirai defeated Zoey Stark
Xia Li defeated Kacy Catanzaro by referee stoppage
Grizzled Young Veterans defeated Killian Dain & Drake Maverick
No DQ Non-title Cruiserweight Championship Match: Karrion Kross defeated Santos Escobar
That was kind of a strange, yet entertaining edition of NXT.
Dexter Lumis gets a non-title (of course) win over Johnny Gargano. But the real news is after the match as there could be some differences of opinions in The Way with Austin Theory and Indi Hartwell taking some shine to Lumis. Theory didn’t hit him with a chair as Gargano wanted him too and Hartwell is enamored with him apparently. Hmmm….
If 𝙨𝙝𝙚 wants you to continue, you continue. @wwekayden is next. #WWENXT @XiaWWE pic.twitter.com/4wm9ogvJzP
— WWE (@WWE) February 25, 2021
Xia Li continues to be a badass, beating up her former bestie Kacy Catanzaro into a referee stoppage victory. I like the match that gave both a bit of time to shine. Will Kayden Carter be next on her list?
Having Io Shirai take on Zoey Stark was just a means to a way to announce a championship match with Toni Storm. Executed and answered.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?! #WWENXT @NashCarterWWE @WesLee_WWE @ZackGibson01 @JamesDrake_GYT pic.twitter.com/o1pVgUcZya
— WWE NXT (@WWENXT) February 25, 2021
What are we to make of the Grizzled Young Veterans attacking MSK and seemingly braking Wes Lee’s hand? Is their title match still on for this upcoming Wednesday night or are the GYV trying to sneak into the match?
Michael Bivens and Tyler Rust picking on “injured” stars hoping to get easy wins is getting old, especially now when they claim wins in a match in which it never starts. They can thank Isaiah “Swerve” Scott for taking out Leon Ruff for that one.
SAITO SUPLEX INTO THE TABLE.

It's @WWEKarrionKross' time now. #WWENXT @EscobarWWE pic.twitter.com/ELlYmIMTAA
— WWE NXT (@WWENXT) February 25, 2021
As expected, Karrion Kross picked up a win over Santos Escobar in a non-title (of course), No DQ match. That was never going to be in doubt. But, by having Legado del Fantasma continuously beat up Kross for a 3-on-1 match gives Escobar some cred for his smarts in at least trying to take out Kross, who ultimately puts Escobar through a table and gets the victory. Where does Kross go next?
And just like that, @AdamColePro has cemented the #EndOfAnERA. #WWENXT @roderickstrong pic.twitter.com/PIaO8qP7W7
— WWE (@WWE) February 25, 2021
Adam Cole, as Pat McAfee says, is a terrible human. He continued his attacks on his former teammates in The Undisputed Era. Last week, it was Kyle O’Reilly. This week, it’s Roderick Strong getting a low blow after a feigned emotion plea from Cole, who also gets a superkick in on NXT Champion Finn Balor to boot. We’re going to get Cole vs. Balor at some point. Maybe it comes as WrestleMania? How does Kross factor in? He wants his NXT Championship, something he never lost, back soon and Scarlett is lurking!
SMACKDOWN
RESULTS
Otis & Chad Gable defeated Rey & Dominik Mysterio
Apollo Crews defeated Shinsuke Nakamura
Tamina defeated Liv Morgan
The Street Profits defeated King Corbin & Sami Zayn
Daniel Bryan and Jey Uso went to a double count out
That'll teach him. #HeadOfTheTable #SmackDown @WWERomanReigns @WWEDanielBryan @HeymanHustle @WWEUsos pic.twitter.com/HHEbVK4cbx
— WWE (@WWE) February 27, 2021
Just like RAW, SmackDown leaned on the “win and you get a title match” storyline with Daniel Bryan having to beat Jey Uso in order to get a one-on-one shot at Roman Reigns and his Universal Title. And just like Braun Strowman, Bryan didn’t win, instead missing out on a title shot with a double count out finish. I was surprised Edge didn’t come down to help save Bryan from the Reigns post-match attack.  All in all though, I’m with Edge. I don’t like the Fastlane title defenses either. Things would be better without that PPV impeding the Road to WrestleMania. Even despite being someone we’ve seen a lot already in 2021, Uso vs. Bryan did give us a decent main event before the disappointing ending.
I was screaming at my tv for Corey Graves and Michael Cole to at least throw out there that what was the reason for the change in Otis and Chad Gable? They were together for over a month being Mr. Positivity, along with Daniel Bryan, and then we get a spur of the moment heel turn last week. I don’t mind the change in attitude, but at least have them explain why! Having Graves spout off that Otis is now more aggressive with Gable makes no sense when he’s been with him for the past six weeks or more. Details people! The WWE Universe is not that dumb.
.@WWEApollo picks up the win on #SmackDown. pic.twitter.com/60pmzfIK4V
— WWE (@WWE) February 27, 2021
Apparently, Apollo Crews is going to follow Roman Reigns is following and celebrating his heritage. I can dig it. By far, that promo Friday night was the best of his WWE career. Let him get personal and shine! That was one creative way to use a scarf too to get a victory over Shinsuke Nakamura.
Tamina gets two victories in two weeks. I don’t not like it. At least Tamina can somewhat wrestle which is more than I can say for Nia Jax.
WrESTleMania can't come soon enough. @BiancaBelairWWE will challenge @SashaBanksWWE for the #SmackDown #WomensTitle at #WrestleMania!!!

— WWE (@WWE) February 27, 2021
There was only ONE choice Bianca Belair and you made the right one. Belair vs. Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship will be epic! I find it interesting that SmackDown, with Belair vs. Banks and Edge vs. Roman Reigns, has the two main event matches for WrestleMania’s two-night event. It speaks volumes doesn’t it!
Speaking of Belair, I’d love to see her in a mixed tag team match with her husband Montez Ford! Ford and Angelo Dawkins are back in the win column too this week with a victory over the squabbling Sami Zayn & King Corbin. Corbin is just a guy lost from storyline to storyline these days. That’s a shame.
Seth Rollins and Cesaro are about to put on a string of matches you won’t want to miss. That is, if given the time to do it.  I like that Rollins introduced the longtime friend card too. Well, at least before Cesar sent him swinging. Let it breathe Vince! This could be special.
Coming up this week:
RAW: WWE Championship Match: The Miz vs. Bobby Lashley Drew McIntyre returns
NXT: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler vs. Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs. MSK
SMACKDOWN: TBD

The more that Neville thought about the situation he was currently in, the more confused he was. The less he understood just what the hell had come over him in that moment.
He hadn't even gone into the locker room with the intent to do anything like that. He was headed there like he always did every Monday night after his match on Raw so that he could shower and get dressed, and then he would promptly drive back to the hotel and get some rest. That night was no different than any other. He didn't expect it to take such a turn.
He remembered walking inside and spotting Mustafa straight away. He was distracted, searching through his bag for something to change into since he hadn't yet changed out of his attire. Neville couldn't help but smirk upon seeing him -- Mustafa was the one who he'd beaten that night. It made sense that he was rushing to leave, too ashamed to face the rest of the roster after suffering such a humiliating defeat.
Neville decided that, like the kind soul he was, he was going to rub the fact that he'd lost in his face, and he had sauntered towards Mustafa until he was at his side, leaning up against a locker. It started like all of their prior conversations -- that is to say, Neville was raving about how amazing he was all while Mustafa pretended he didn't hear him. Neville made sure to point out just how amazing it felt to lock in the Rings of Saturn on him, just how damn good it felt to feel Mustafa tapping out on his arm and signalling to the referee that he had had enough.
Then, just as Neville decided that he'd had enough and was about to back off, something happened.
Mustafa had muttered something under his breath.
At first, Neville thought he was just hearing things. There was no way Mustafa would have said something like that , would he? He didn't look like the type.
"Say that again, lad," Neville had demanded, noticing the blush on Mustafa's face. "Go on, don't be shy."
"I said..." He started as he sat down. "The Rings of Saturn felt good to me, too."
Neville's eyebrows raised, and he smirked again. He knew he hadn't misheard. So, that was the kind of stuff Mustafa was into? What an interesting thing to learn about his little rival. "You like submitting to the King, hmm?" He had taken a seat next to him.
Mustafa hadn't said anything in response. "Nothing to be ashamed of, Ali," Neville assured him. "Plenty of guys are into these kinds of things. I give you credit for being able to admit it, unlike the other peasants here."
As he spoke, he ended up making eye contact with Mustafa. Before, whenever Neville looked in his eyes, all he would see was passion. Drive. Ambition. Determination. This time was different. Now, he was seeing something else.
Lust.
Neville wasn't stupid. He knew where this conversation was headed. He toyed with the idea of making a smart comment about how clearly aroused Mustafa was, but the truth was that he was the same way. Neville had always known that Mustafa was physically attractive, and he would be lying if he said that he didn't look forward to competing against him so that he had a chance to touch him.
Now, they were both alone. There was no one there in the locker room to stop them from acting out the scenes that had played out so many times before in their heads.
Mustafa had already submitted to Neville once that evening. It didn't look like he was opposed to doing it again, though this time in a very different setting with a much different context.
"How would you like it if I brought you to your knees one more time tonight?" Neville traced a finger along Mustafa's bicep, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. He leaned in close, his hot breath against Mustafa's ear. "Just say the word, and I'd be more than happy to oblige."
Mustafa's tongue ran over his lower lip, and he had checked around the room one last time to make sure that they were truly alone before saying, "...P-Please, King."
As soon as he heard the word 'King', Neville stood up, grabbing him by the hand and pushing him back against the wall. He gave him a forceful kiss, his tongue slipping into Mustafa's mouth once his lips parted. Neville was pressed up against him, his thigh firmly resting against the front of his pants.
"Hmm, my sweet Prince..." Neville had said, feeling Mustafa growing hard under his touch. "You're getting excited for your King, huh? You like it when I touch you there?" One of Neville's hands slid down Mustafa's side, resting on his hip.
He had waited until Mustafa replied with a fervent nod before his hand slid over and rested over his erection, and he grabbed it through his attire. "And I bet you like it when I do this too, don't you?" He began to rub at him. "Go on, tell your King how much you're enjoying this..."
All that was able to escape Mustafa was a soft whimper, and Neville's eyebrows raised, an amused expression having now appeared on his face. "Ah, are you too shy?" He teased. "It's only you and me here, Ali. No one's gonna hear you. Only I will. Come on, now. Let me know how you're feeling."
Once he finished his sentence, Neville pressed his hand harder up against him, eliciting a small moan and causing Neville to smirk. "Good boy..." He cooed. "Keep it up. I want to hear more from you." He moved down to Mustafa's neck and gave it a few soft kisses, sucking at one spot.
"King..." Mustafa moaned a little louder that time, prompting Neville to suck harder, his hand moving faster.
Neville pulled away a moment later, admiring the mark that he'd left behind. He slowly ran his tongue over it. "Looks like you're gonna have to find a way to hide that before 205 tomorrow now, aren't you?" He moved over to the other side of Mustafa's neck. "And this one, too," he said before he chose a spot and began to suck there next.
Neville could tell that Mustafa was still trying to keep his voice as low as possible so as to not draw anyone's attention, so he bit down on the newest mark, his hand now squeezing him. He relished in the gasp that escaped his lips, and he squeezed him harder, alternating between rubbing and grabbing. "Ali, I already told you that there's no need for you to hold back. Be as loud as you want. Who gives a shit about who hears?"
"King, I-I..." Mustafa's breathing was growing more labored. "I-I'm gonna..."
"Do it." Neville pulled away from his neck, leaning forward until their foreheads were touching. "Come for your King. I want to hear more of those pretty noises of yours..."
Neville's stroking had become rougher and quicker, and it didn't take much longer for Mustafa to finally be pushed over the edge, the loud groan that Neville had been dying to hear finally coming out, a content hum slipping from the King. Neville's rubbing gradually slowed down, coming to a complete halt once Mustafa had finally gathered himself and his breathing calmed.
He backed off at last, stepping away and chuckling as Mustafa slid down the wall and sat on the floor. "I told you that I could bring you down, Prince," he taunted. "That's twice in one night. I think this is a new record."
"I... I need to return the favor." Mustafa was reaching up to him, trying to grab the waistband of his trunks.
"Ah-ah, not now." Neville swatted away his hands, a devilish grin on his face. "Not when someone could walk in." He bent down and grabbed hold of his collar. "Wait until the show is over. Then come meet me in my hotel room. We'll finish up there. Understood?" He waited until Mustafa nodded before releasing him, moving back.
It was at that moment that the locker room door burst open, a few other members of the roster entering the room. Neville quirked his eyebrows at Mustafa before heading towards the showers. The King has impeccable timing. No surprises there.
No one had heard a thing. Neville mused to himself, licking his lips as he recalled the memory. I told him no one would. He didn't want to believe me.
They had truly gotten away with it. Everyone else was busy preparing for their respective match or loitering in another part of the arena -- no one thought to go to the locker room to check and see what the King and the Prince were up to.
Neville remembered that not much else had happened at the arena once they had finished. Neville had gone to shower and struggled not to laugh as he listened to Mustafa trying to have a casual conversation with Cedric, as if he didn't just have a orgasm. No one thought to ask why the hell he was on the floor when they first came in, or why he kept covering his neck with his hands. Christ, how inattentive are these fools?
Neville also remembered what happened once he'd checked in at the hotel after the show ended. He had sent a text to Mustafa telling him to not even bother getting his own room and to spend the night in his, sending along the room number with the message.
And then, once he'd arrived, Mustafa did exactly what he said he was going to do.
“So, Ali…” Neville purred as the Prince sat on top of him, their clothes tossed aside and resting on the floor. “Tell me what you have planned.”
Mustafa pondered his first move for a moment, almost looking a little unsure of himself. This prompted Neville to reach up one of his hands, running a finger along his bare chest. “What? You don’t know? Huh, all that talk about returning the favor, and yet you’ve fallen silent when the time comes…”
“I do know,” he retorted. “I’m just… not sure if it’s what you want.”
“You think I can’t handle whatever it is? I’m the King. I’m pretty certain I can take whatever you give to me.”
“If you say so.” Mustafa licked his lips. “So, I’m just wondering, have you gone all the way with a guy before?”
“Well, duh. Are you trying to say that you want to fuck me, lad?” His bluntness seemed to catch Mustafa off guard, and he smirked. “Well? Is that a yes?”
“I, well… Yeah.” He laughed a little nervously. “But only if you’re up for it.”
“Didn’t I just tell you that I’m willing to take whatever you plan on doing to me? Do it. That’s an order from your King.”
Musafa’s eyebrows raised. “How can I possibly say no to that?” He quickly scrambled off of Neville’s lap, going over to his bag and searching inside of it for a bottle of lube and a condom.
“Do you always keep those with you in case of a situation like this?” Neville asked once he’d found them and made his way back to the bed.
“You never know.” He shrugged.
Neville watched as Mustafa began to slick up his fingers, his gaze shifting to look up towards the ceiling. “What do you think your little buddies would say if they knew this was what you were getting up to?” He asked.
“I’m not sure how I would even begin to explain something like this. I dunno how they’d react.”
“If anyone asks where you were tonight, just tell them you were off fucking royalty. God, I’d pay to see their faces if you said that,” Neville mused.
“ You would…” Mustafa placed the bottle aside on the night table and positioned one of his fingers at Neville’s entrance. “Okay, you ready?”
“How many times do I have to tell you that I am before you finally get it? Goodness, Ali, it’s like you’re--” Neville was interrupted by one of Mustafa’s fingers slipping inside of him, and he gasped softly. His eyes fluttered shut when a second one entered, humming as they started to pump in and out. He gasped again when he felt then go deeper.
“You good?” Mustafa stopped his movements.
“Yes, yes, I'm fine, just keep doing what you're doing.” Neville motioned for him to continue, sighing as he felt a third finger enter along with the other two. This wasn't something he was normally into, and he was a little surprised by how much he was enjoying it. Mustafa was better than he thought he would be.
Mustafa eventually took his fingers out, prepping himself for what would come next, and Neville made a bit of a frustrated sound. “Ali, don't keep your King waiting--”
“Hush up.”
“What?” Neville’s eyes widened.
“We went at your pace before, and now we’re gonna go at my pace. It’s only fair.” Mustafa leaned in to kiss him, smiling softly. “So hush.”
Neville couldn't believe that he'd just been told off like that. He was about to make a comment about how Mustafa needed to learn his place, that this was the King he was talking to, but Mustafa had suddenly entered him, causing a moan to escape instead. Whatever insults he had planned on unleashing would have to wait until later.
Mustafa adjusted himself so that he was fully seated in him, and he began to slowly thrust in and out. Neville hands rose to rest on his shoulders, squeezing them tighter at each jolt of pleasure he felt. “H-Harder.” He breathed out before internally scolding himself for speaking again so soon after he’d been told not to.
That didn’t matter, apparently, as Mustafa did as Neville wished and thrust harder into him, causing Neville to groan and dig his fingernails into his shoulders. He bent down to whisper in Neville’s ear, biting his earlobe as he said, “I can let that one slide.”
“Fuck…” Neville was feeling a bit overwhelmed. It had been far too damn long since anyone had done this to him last, and something about the fact that Mustafa was the one doing it excited him far more than it probably should have.
He continued with this pace, moving from Neville’s ear to his lips and kissing him passionately. “What’s gotten into you, Ali?... Huh?” Neville said once he’d pulled away, desperately trying to remain in control in some capacity despite being completely at Mustafa’s mercy, growing closer and closer to coming with each thrust. “You never struck me as the type to be rough…”
Mustafa smiled down at him and gave him another kiss. “I’m usually not.” A hand snaked down and grabbed hold of Neville’s length, and he began to slowly jerk him off. “But I’m dealing with the King here. I had to change things up.”
“Jesus, Ali…” Neville moaned, letting out a few small whimpers as both Mustafa’s hand and thrusts sped up. At that moment, one of his thrusts hit that one spot, and he yelled, clenching around him before he finally came, his head thrown back as he spilled all over his hand. He could feel that his face was hot, and he slowly let out a breath once he had finished.
It was a few short moments afterwards that Mustafa came as well with a loud groan, the sound of it pleasing Neville for the second time that night. He rested his head down on his chest, taking a moment to gather himself before he pulling out.
Neville watched as he cleaned off his hand, waiting until he was finished and lying next to him to say, “You’re good, Prince… Very good. If I’d known, I would have spoken to you sooner.”
Mustafa snorted and placed a kiss on the tip of Neville’s nose. “High praise from the King. I’m honored.”
The time was now 5 AM. The room was gradually growing brighter, and Neville was wide awake. He knew that he still had some time before he needed to get up, but he couldn’t bring himself to fall back asleep. He was too damn confused.
What in the world had come over him? The night was like any other and had nothing particularly special about it. What was it about Mustafa admitting that he liked being submitted that caused Neville to jump on him like that, that led to the two of them messing around in his hotel room? It was amazing, honestly, just how quickly it all happened.
Neville looked over to his right, spotting Mustafa sleeping peacefully and facing away from him. Careful not to wake him, Neville reached over a hand, gently moving some of his hair away and getting a good look at his neck and the marks he’d left. Those plus the scratches on his shoulders almost made Neville feel bad. He’s gonna have to deal with those later. He thought. I wonder if anyone will give him shit for it… Hope they don’t pester him too much.
Neville looked away and back towards the ceiling. Why did he suddenly care so much about him? Just a few hours ago, Neville couldn’t stand him. He’d been submitting him in front of thousands of people in attendance and millions watching from home. Now, after they’d spent a night together, he found himself concerned, hoping that people would just leave Mustafa the hell alone for once instead of picking on him and asking for details. This is fucking nuts… What does it mean…
Then, Neville heard the sounds of Mustafa mumbling to himself in his sleep. He watched as he tossed over, his head resting on Neville’s shoulder and an arm on his chest. Neville’s eyebrows rose as the gesture, and for a moment he was stumped on what to do. Should he try to move him and risk waking him up? What if a suddenly awakened Mustafa was rude and nothing like his usual easygoing self?
After staring at his sleeping face for a little while, however, Neville decided against doing that. He found himself smirking softly, and he brought a hand up to his hair, stroking it lightly as he shut his eyes and tried falling back asleep, arguably more comfortable now.
Whatever the fuck was going on, it could wait until later.

You know...I’m not the best at time-stamping my posts, so sometimes when I look back on old ones out of context they don’t make much sense. I did tag Smackdown and Kofi in this one (also I just realized I tagged the Universal Championship instead of the WWE Championship, but it’s Brock so 🤷‍♀️), so I’m thinking this was when Smackdown debuted on Fox and Kofi lost the WWE Championship, but that’s really beside the point.
My point is this could really apply to any Brock Lesnar match and I wouldn’t be mad.
Rey and Dominik or Mustafa Ali (because Brock stole the MITB Briefcase from him and I’m still salty about it. I have a post on that somewhere too.)
Naive hope #1:
Rey and Dominic Mysterio cost Brock Lesnar the match.

Na Maloom Afraad 2 – Film Review
Writer: Nabeel Qureshi & Fizza Ali Meerza Director: Nabeel Qureshi Producers: Fizza Ali Meerza & Mehdi Ali Cast: Fahad Mustafa, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Javaid Sheikh, Hania Aamir, Urwa Hocane, Marina Khan, Saleem Mairaj, Nayyar Ejaz & others. I am going to be honest, I did not have high expectations from this film especially because of the trailers more than anything else. I was definitely not expecting to be thoroughly entertained and did not expect to laugh hysterically for most part of the film. The trailers and even the songs did not do justice to a film which has a solid screenplay and is shot so well that at times you forget you are watching a Pakistani film. This film definitely has more highs than lows. The characterizations of the three main protagonists are brilliant, their interactions (for the most part) enjoyable and some of the dialogues are remarkably witty. Fahad Mustafa, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Javaid Sheikh own their characters completely right from the get-go and in this sequel are more improved versions of their respective roles. Shakeel’s (Javaid Sheikh) is definitely the most enjoyable one among them all. What I absolutely loved about this film was that it is a side-splitting, all out comedy. The writers do not hold back at all but at times they even go overboard. One aspect of the film however which did not appeal to me and which wasn’t even needed was the excessive use of foul language, the F word (although muted) is used number of times and there are plenty of other scenes in which the crass jokes are added unnecessarily. The toilet humor makes you cringe a couple of time but there are plenty of scenes in which it is tolerable and even hilarious! The plot of the film is also unpredictable, the writers couldn’t have given the viewers a more solid entertaining plot. It is however not logical; since this is a comedy film therefore I feel it is unfair to decipher every tiny detail based on logic! I must say that it is one of those very few Pakistani films which has a solid and well thought out storyline which went well with the theme of the film. Like other films written by Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza, this one too highlights the trials and tribulations of the common man residing in Karachi in particular but the script on the whole will be relatable for any Pakistani viewer since the issues faced by every Pakistani are the same. It addresses class difference and much more. Watching Marina Khan act on the big screen after a long time was an absolutely delight. Nayyar Ejaz is brilliant as Sultan al- Baklawa; it has to be one of his best performances. Saleem Mairaj and the actor playing his companion were absolutely brilliant in their respective roles. Na Maloom Afraad 2 can easily be termed as a film which is fun and also an impressively “stylish” film which is visually stunning as a whole. The biggest shortcoming of the film is that it failed to include the talented female leads in the story effectively. Like Actor In Law and Na Maloom Afraad, this one too relegates the female characters in the background and does not really incorporate their characters properly in the story. This is especially sad because Hania Aamir andUrwa Hocane both have given remarkable performances even though their characters have not been explored properly. Both the actresses were even excluded from the songs, which I felt was rather unfair because they deserved more screen time. Instead of showing Sadaf Kanwal’s item number, they could have been part of a song which took the story forward in some way. The song “Chal Hug Ley” was also a disappointment because the girls in bikinis could not dance and their bare bodies were supposed to be the only attraction. I definitely expected better from a director like Nabeel Qureshi at least in this context. Urwa Hocane dances so well and Hania Aamir I am certain could have shown her dance moves too if she was given a chance to do so. The songs and the way they were shot was the biggest disappointment in the film. Overall, I would give this film 3.5 out 5 and recommend it to anyone who does not mind a few jokes which are in bad taste. This film will make you laugh especially if you watch it with a friend. Even with a few shortcomings, you will leave the cinema hall happy because NMA 2 is definitely an entertaining film. The styling, makeovers and the cinematography give this movie a unique and modern look. Nabeel Qureshi’s creativity reflects in many scenes and I especially liked the scene which came before intermission. The background score is also highly impressive. This film has a completely different flavor from PNJ therefore if you enjoyed one, you should definitely watch the other. Those of you, who like me found the gold commode repulsive should go watch this film as well, you won’t be disappointed! There is more to that commode than meets the eye .
