Oh hey summerween was a few days ago. Fun.
Have a soos
A ZOMBIE SOOS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as a bonus here’s the flat and sketch. And a little update.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So ik I’ve been a bit absent recently, since summer started I’ve been babysitting 3 kids all day, as well as my actual job, so I don’t have as much art time as I did previously, as well as being burnt out during the little free time i have, and im also a part of a few zines so they’re taking a lot of my drawing time. DONT WORRY I haven’t moved on from gravity falls, im still as hyperfixated as ever! Just trying to figure out when I have time to make art to post.
AS FOR THE COMIC! I might’ve burned myself out a little with it, but I have like 2 parts left to make and I’m done. So expect an update within the month!

Quick fire Saja Boys headcanons
Tumblr media
Since this movie is a hyperfixation and I am still crying over the ending, I decided to write some headcanons for the boys since they were done so dirty in the movie. These are going to be in random order as they are off the top of my head
Baby is the biggest but also most annoying tease out of them all. He will poke you and even if you tell him to stop or slap his hand away he will continue to do so
Jinu acts like a grandpa when it comes to technology. This 400 year old man will be looking at a phone as if it's witchcraft no matter how long he's in the human world
Romance adores spa days. And he goes for the expensive stuff. He will personally be offended if you give him the cheap stuff
He was also the one who painted the Saja boys' nails
Mystery is horrible around people unless he's with the boys. Leave him alone with fans and his brain malfunctions and he will freeze
He's also the most jealous out of the group. We all saw him barking because someone was talking with Zoey
Abby is obviously the gym freak. He will get up at 4am to work out/do a morning run
He is genuinely just a himbo honestly, a lovable one. He ADORES hugs but he sometimes becomes insufferable about it, sometimes on purpose or not

Not the asker from before, just saw that you were open to questions about web serial preferences.
I'm particularly curious about your opinions on the Wildbow serials; you called Worm out as a prior hyperfixation, but I saw on the chart that you'd checked out early re: the author's other stories.
Did you just not find them interesting? Do you think there's something about what made Worm compelling that was absent in the others? I've always been curious about why Worm in particular was such an explosive success, but it's hard to discuss because the Worm and Wildbow fanbases almost feel like distinct entities sometimes. People talk past each other.
I really enjoyed Worm, yeah, and spent a fair amount of time on the discord, the subreddit, spot-reading, fact-checking, doing analysis, stuff like that. It was ages ago: I read Worm as it was coming out.
As for why I didn't stick with the others ... it's complicated.
I think Wildbow is, for my tastes, actively bad at pacing. This showed in Worm, then showed a lot more in Pact. Part of the issue is that the stories (to the extent I've read them) begin to have this monotone feel to them, like each chapter has the same "energy" as the last, which is often anxious, angry, stressful, cornered, etc. Over the course of, say, half a million words, I tend to get fatigued. So Pact ended up being something that I dropped relatively early, before the Toronto arc.
Ward was just ... not what I wanted. The premise is that the world has ended and they're reconstructing society on an entirely different alternate Earth, and then this felt like it was largely background, and I didn't enjoy the therapy stuff, and the worldbuilding seemed so lazy to me, which was not at all the case in Worm. I wrote some fanfic, fairly early on, which was my attempt to express the things that I wished it was about, and to come to grips with the fact that it wasn't about the things I wanted it to be about. Still, I used to wait up until midnight for new chapters to drop, so I could read them and discuss with people, and eventually the chapter were coming later and later, and they'd come when I was tired, and that's how I fell off, because I also wasn't having that great a time with it. I didn't care about Victoria, who had too much baggage and uninteresting thoughts. One of the things I remember sticking out to me is that she focused a lot on clothes and appearances, giving much more detailed descriptions of them, and I thought that this was something that Wildbow was doing to differentiate her from other protagonists, and also that I did not really give a shit about Victoria's interest in clothing. I keep wanting to go back to it and finish it, just for the sake of completion, so it's not technically dropped by my standards, and I never hit a point where I thought "okay, I'm done with this, I'm not finishing this". I've been spoiled on a fair amount of what happens after the point I stopped reading the updates (I'm not spoiler averse), and nothing really made me think that it would be a good fit for me. Still, a very decent chance that I come back to it and binge the stuff I haven't read in a handful of weeks.
Twig ... people kept telling me that it was good, and I think I tried three times to get into it. I have no idea how far I actually got, but I gave it a fair shake, maybe ... four arcs? I think biopunk is also not a favored genre for me, and the characters didn't grip me very much, and it felt a bit like a "monster of the week" thing except that there was just so much word count, and not in a good way.
I hear people praising Claw, and Seek, and I think "okay, maybe I should check those out", but it's very possible that after Worm I was just too familiar with Wildbow as an author and thought that there was some ... redundancy to reading more? Especially millions of words more?
I've always been curious about why Worm in particular was such an explosive success
I think there are a few reasons for this, but this answer is already getting pretty long, so I'll be brief: Worm came along very early on, did things with the superhero genre that people hadn't seen much of before, had a particular ethos when it came to powers, munchkinry, and characters, and for all that I would argue it had "bad pacing" it did contain a pretty steady progression from idea to idea, and most of them worked. It also had a lot of structure that helped the fanfic scene explode, in a way other works didn't. I think most people who have read Worm could write a dozen half-decent "Worm-style" heroes without much trouble, but the same can't be said of any of Wildbow's other works (at least, to my admittedly incomplete knowledge). It's a combination of a lot of things, and I don't think most of them are repeatable by Wildbow or anyone else.

What do you think Alastor's morals are? And how do you think it will go against whatever Vox is doing next season ?
-N
Apologies, this is going to be long. I will begin by stating my biases. First, I am an Alastor stan. He has been my hyperfixation since 2023 and has refused to be moved or replaced. While I can claim to have a deep understanding of Alastor, I can't claim the same for other characters. Secondly, I am a fan of villains. I would not like Alastor half as much if he were a good person, and I believe most Alastor fans, even if they are not normally into villains, are at the very least into him as their chosen "bad boy" of the show. Most fans of the Vees are of similar taste. The third thing I want to note is that there are no purely evil characters on the show. Vivzie has said that Roo is the only pure evil character that she has for the show.
According to Vivzie, Alastor is a chaotic neutral character. I have talked before about duality as a key part of Alastor's trait. He is a character meant to embody both good and evil. Alastor, however, wants to be known for evil. He loves being a malicious, manipulative creature and barely hides it (love this about him to the point that I am likely to get bored if Alastor is completely devoid of malice in a fanfic). While mostly self-serving, he doesn't mind doing things for those he cares about, as can be seen with Mimzy and Niffty. Or sometimes even for strangers, like with the sheep sinner in the comic.
Alastor delights in torture and murder, but he seems to have weird morals relating to it. This is partly a headcanon based on what we have seen on the show and the playbill, but Alastor requires a person to attack him first. Alastor is mostly reactive, reflecting the attitude that he receives. Reacting to politeness with politeness, and violence with violence. Sir Pentious has fought Alastor multiple times and has been met with the same level of violence that he presents to Alastor. However, related to the comic, which might no longer be canon, Alastor threaten the butcher who was looking for ways to attack him, but doesn't attack him till he attacks the sheep sinner. That indicates another potential aspect of his morality. The attack on the sheep demon, combined with what the Butcher had done previously, made him acceptable prey to Alastor.
Now for Vox. Vivzie has stated that Vox is evil, and all the Vees are evil. To be honest, the only "good" trait that I can think of for Vox and the Vees is that they genuinely care about each other in their own way. That's it. However, this is what has made some people think that they, except Valentino, are better people than Alastor.
Vivzie has been trying for a while now to get this across. I noticed it after the Valentine's Day merch dropped, and she posted this in response to people complaining about Valentino being part of the merch.
Tumblr media
I think the reaction to the Valentine's Day merch made Vivzie realise that there were people who didn't get it, which could lead to a potential backlash when they are forced to see Vox and Velvette be evil in Season 2. This was therefore followed by her posting this a while after. While it highlights their good side, which is their relationship, she is once again trying to remind people that all the Vees, not just Valentino, are evil.
Tumblr media
Considering the reaction when the Pride merch came out for the Vees, people obviously still didn't get it. This latest post from Vivziepop was the one that seemed to finally make people get it. You will notice that it has even made some people realise that maybe the end of Vox and Alastor's relationship wasn't a case of poor, innocent Vox being hurt by the evil Alastor.
Tumblr media
As someone who has gotten sick of people using Alastor as a comparison to Valentino when Vox is right there or even just implying that Vox is a better person than Alastor, this was a delight. Do I think Vox is more evil than Alastor? No, because I don't believe in measuring evil when it comes to fictional villains. I believe in flavours, and Alastor's flavour is more to my taste than Vox's. I prefer the whole classy, sadistic manipulator who enjoys being and showcasing himself as evil. I also love trickster-type characters who love to smile. I have just always hated the assumption that Vox is a better person, particularly when it is based on the misconception that having friends makes you a better person than someone who is a loner.
Comparing their evil nature, I believe that the only "evil" thing that Alastor would do that the Vees would not do is cannibalism. Murder, torture, manipulation, and whatever evil that you can accuse Alastor of is not something that is beneath the Vees. On the other hand, the specific type of evil that the Vees act on that is not Alastor's type of evil is theft of consent. What I mean is that all the Vees, including Vox, have a tendency to bypass the consent of others. From Valentino's smoke to Velvette's love potion to Vox's mind control, these are people who do not believe that consent matters. What matters is what they want, and you don't get to tell them no. Alastor might be a top-class manipulator who is not above taking advantage of people's emotional state to get what he wants, but he is not bypassing consent. He announces constantly that he is evil and up to no good, so that when you get into a deal with him, you can't claim to have misunderstood who you are dealing with. He invites people to attack him first with the full knowledge of what happens to those who cross him, so that when he does torture you, he can claim that you asked for it. Now, some might say that what Alastor does is not proper "informed" consent, but I would say that is far more consensual than someone taking away your ability to choose.
People say that Alastor wants to rule hell because he said that he wants to be the one pulling the strings. The Vees also said that they want to rule hell. There is a difference between the two even in that scenario. You see, someone who pulls that string exists in the background. They do not directly wield power. They wield influence over those who directly run things. Alastor has no interest in directly running everything. The Vees don't just want to run things directly, based on Vox's past as a cult leader and his tendency to use mind control to avoid consent, I get the feeling that he would prefer if all of hell would become mindless drones that only do as he says.
In season 2, I am expecting the Vees to be making a power grab, using their influence on the media and Vox's mind control to turn hell or at least the Pride ring, against Charlie and Lucifer. Alastor will be weakened for most of Season 2 and not in a position to interfere in what they are doing. I expect us to get the complicated and sad background to why Alastor and Vox's relationship ended, which will show how misunderstandings and outside forces worked against their relationship. However, the present group that Vox is part of was never one that Alastor could have been a part of without getting rid of his limited moral compass, considering the whole consent thing. I'm not one of those who think the Vees will die at the end, but they will lose. I expect Vox's constant need to pivot to the next big thing to end up being what Alastor uses against him.
Thanks for the ask. I would have responded sooner, but I kept thinking of the best way to word it, and it kept getting longer.
Shout out to fans of the Vees, especially Valentino fans, who will get some vindication against the haters who keep wanting him removed from merch with the other Vees. Season 2 is going to be your season, particularly if you are a villain fan. You'll get to see them be their best evil selves.

For me it's mostly prsk I fear. One day I heard about the evillious collab, thought "woaw Blorbos from my light novels?" And then never recovered. I did plan to be more normal about the game after the evillious collab, but Idt I'm normal about it and I likely never will unless Sega stabs me (for realsies) or a new Hyperfixation saves me
Tumblr media
Oh I get that, altho the majority of criticism towards the third arc are about the writing. I personally don't mind the setting change and the writing hasn't done something really bad yet, but I can see how it's a turnoff
For warriors they changed the setting really abruptly, which bugged me aswell, altho as a kid the lake did wow me pfff. It's so sparkly scenic and a cat I liked drowned there while playing hockey, what's not to love?
And same in terms of emo kid. I did read wof when I was a smidge older tho, so my emo tendencies began and ended with shadowclan being my favorite clan (nowadays it's windclan because I love their swagglessness)
Wof favorites were (and are) Glory, Deathbringer, Tsunami, Peril and Moon
Cricket is still a debatable fave (still reading her book)
Admittedly my biggest struggle with making gog au designs is balancing fantastical and natural patterns. So many owls have very busy patterns that are difficult to morph or reduce, while making any additions feel gaudy

Save me from this drought...
🐈My dopamine well runneth dry, and the blahs keep creeping in. I am in my own personal ring of hell, having exhausted all the available material of my hyperfixation before my brain has decided to be done with this hyperfixation. Y'all, this hurts my soul in ways I cannot describe. Also Top Form is giving me post episode drop every week. I need good books to read. I need shows to binge. I NEED A STEADY SUPPLY OF DOPAMINE TO FILL THE VOID IN MY SOUL.
I won't complain about Michelin starred meals, but I'm also not one to turn my nose up at some delicious junk food. Give me your comfort recs, give me your trashy snacks recs, give me your bizarre obsession recs, and give me your I can't explain it but keep watching it recs.
I have watched and read everything except all the stuff I haven't. It would be a ridiculous list. So just throw whatever comes to mind my way. Please give me a heads up if it doesn't end happy. I don''t always require a happy ending, but I need to be prepared for devastation.
