How is it that I can't feel his death was handled, in marketing and in the show, very badly, without that being me just not understanding a narrative, but others can see it as fine and they're perfectly rational? How about this: they're BOTH reads of a narrative informed by people's personal experiences, and neither one is correct, and you thinking it was fine doesn't make it so any more than me thinking it was garbage and bury your disableds.

(because we dont know what happened to the "real" dantes whereas dumas' version wrote that love extinguished his flames, and so left france behind with haydee. a fictional happy end that most likely didnt apply to the real dantes given his attitude to dumas and his version of the story since they never interacted again beyond dumas talking about writing his tale. )

an end that also isnt part of the famous Avenger, Count of Monte Cristo summoned to the grand order, only the popular interpretation/parts that people remember the most engraved in his spirit origin. and for him, this avenger, this part of his life where he is at his lowest who became your tiny light of hope in that prison tower, despite burning with eternal hatred chose love time and time again, save you, help you time and time again, because he doesnt want you to end up like him. one who has lost all things precious to you and so turning into a life of vengeance and blood, burning everything to cinders until you as well consume yourself, losing yourself in the process, becoming an empty shell, quietly dying as emptiness and quietness takeover the aftermath of those flames. you, as radiant as a star, don't deserve that kind of fate. you, his accomplice, his co-conspirator should never succumb to or have that kind of fate where only hate, sorrow and despair awaits you at the end nor does he want your journey to be at a standstill, idle, where you are helpless the more this story- this journey drags on and unable to move forward because of forces beyond your control.]

............... Okay SOOOO finally a post explaining my thoughts about the breakup scene and like, the whole episode in general (which everyone knows is my favorite chapter ever in the manga).

I liked it, but it wasn't perfect. The pacing was a bit too quick and not as emotional as the manga, somehow. I don't get why they gave Sabo's scene way more attention when they've been adapting half a chapter per episode for a long time now. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore Sabo (I can't shut up about him, as you can see) but I believe Buggy's speech deserved wayyyyy more attention and dramatic value than what has been shown. In fact, I think they used too much comedy for literal no reason when the manga made me cry while reading.

I don't even think they have to erase Sabo's part, I just think they could've saved the unnecessary comedic gags and used those spaces for more dramatic pauses. The whole thing in terms of animation is gorgeous, but the way they speak and the delivery lacks a bit of emotion. And I don't even think it's because of the VAs (they did an amazing job) but because of the whole quick pacing due to lack of time. I know in the manga it isn't too long either, and I am even surprised we got so much out of four little panels, but if you're going to give them this much attention at least do it properly.

Overall, I think the episode was good but it doesn't match the same level of emotion as the manga chapter. Either way, I think the directing (in terms of like, visually and symbology etc etc) is pretty damn well done. I believe my only issue is the paing, but that probably must be because now episodes are like 17 minutes long after the opening and the summary and the little sketch and ending.

Not to be a hater but if you're gonna ignore a whole chapter to make Garp's punch last 2 whole minutes straight, you can leave Sabo's appearance for the next episode or use the time properly instead of making so many jokes that aren't even highlighted in the manga.

To be honest, I prefer the manga because Oda manages to show all the right emotions and give me shivers, but the anime did pretty well when it comes to the animation and imagery even if the pacing is uhhhhhh quick and boring and dull. I don't want to sound like a hater because the whole thing is pretty short in the manga too, but even if it is short, I think the emotions stand out way more there than they do in the anime.

i remember reading it and thinking to myself "god if i had the timbern brainworms, i could write smth for this" but then recently they've been coming back and i was a church bored out of my mind when i was like "hmmm maybe i should respond?"

and ohhh my god, when i first got it, i immediately thought about how toxic it could get and like, personally, i feel like i can't write complicated characters? if that makes sense? to me, im not very good at writing multi-dimensional characters. which to be fair, i never set out to become like a pulitzer prize winning author. i just do this for fun haha.

and like i knew that my answer to your ask was always gonna be toxic timbern but i didn't know if i could write it? ig??? bc like tim is a good person. he is!!! he just wants bear so badly. and it's past the initial physical attraction now.

he and bear are all grown up. he likes bear's wit and humor, well the wit and humor he gets to hear when bear doesn't know he's around. but bear wont let him in!!!! bear wont open himself up and tim's apologized!!!! he did!!! he doesn't even know what he did and he still apologized!!!!! and it changed nothing. bear doesn't talk to him or look at him or anything. nothing but polite professionalism.

and then one day, he sees bear on his balcony as he's swinging through the streets of gotham. and bear isn't doing anything special, he's just sitting there in sweats and no shirt and the moonlight hits his pecs just right and his shoulders are so broad and-

well he cant be blamed for stopping to take a peek, right? and maybe when he has has time he swings by more and more. just watching for longer and longer, until one day bear catches him. and as they stare at each other from opposite sides of the street, tim thinks this is it. the cold glances and frosty words are going to come back. bear's never gonna just sit on his balcony again. he's lost this too. but then-

oh.

bear sends him a hesitant wave and tim raises a trembling hand to wave back. and bear- well bear's mouth splits into a smile brilliant enough to rival the sun. beautiful like the sunrise. the promise of a new beginning. if he closes his eyes, tim thinks he can feel the sunlight's warm rays on him.

hes' hooked after that. he comes around again and again. one day bear lets him on the balcony. weeks later, bear's hugging him. weeks after that, tim's in bear's lap. and he knows it's not right. that bear thinks he's someone else. that bear doesnt want anything to do with him but how is he supposed to let this go? how is he supposed disentangle himself from bear's arms?

so he lies and he lies and he prays to any and every god he can think of, that he'll get to keep this. plus he's not really lying to bear, he's just... not talking about it! if bear asks, he'll tell him point blank. he swears it. but that's a problem for another day. things are looking up! bear said more than 5 sentences to him the other day and yesterday? he even got a small smile. it'll all work out. he'll be fine.

I was thinking about Under the Red Hood again and this scene:

The real heartbreak of the comic is this scene. I have seen people take Jason’s monologue and run a marathon with it arguing that Batman should kill the joker because otherwise he’s responsible for all the deaths caused by the Joker yada yada.  My brother in the DC comics, that’s not the point. Jason knows Batman doesn’t kill. Jason knows that Batman won’t ever kill as a way to stop crime. He knows that. This is not Jason asking Batman to kill the Joker in order to become a better or more efficient vigilante. This is a son asking his dad to prove that he loves him by avenging him. The “Just him” is important. That’s why when Batman says he can’t cross that line because it would be too easy and that he would never come back from that, Jason is so furious. Because he’s not talking about Batman changing his way to fight crime. He’s not expecting Batman to kill anyone else. For Jason there shouldn’t be a line to be crossed, because the Joker already exploded that line when he killed Bruce’s son. Jason is asking for one thing, and Batman’s answer is about something else entirely - the big picture that Jason can’t even consider, because nothing should be more important than your son. Nothing. The heartbreak of this conversation is that Jason and Bruce couldn’t understand each other until the very end.

And it ends in tragedy.

So, the main opinions that I've been seeing about sunrise on the reaping are that it will either be narrated by Haymitch, a different tribute, or a capitol citizen, but I think that if it centers around propaganda, there's a chance it could actually be about a gamemaker.

Hear me out: by showing us a gamemaker, we would get the perspective of someone new, we would be able to see the duality between the arena and the capitol, and, since it centres around propaganda, we would see how the capitol changed the narrative of the game and showed it to the capitol

What I always wanted to say but i was too scared to say it its that >I< think that people are getting to be kinda parasocial with the ex-admins at the same way that people are with CCs. I dont know how to explain 100% and my english is bad but I think that:

Acting like ex/current admins are saints, that they NEVER make mistakes and are ALWAYS saints with NO mistakes is bad at the same level as saying/acting like CCs are 100% saints TOO.

please DONT get me wrong, but acting like all/some of the ex-admins/current admins dont do mistakes bc they are "ALWAYS right" and not realizing that they are also human and that they can VERY well make mistakes is also just as wrong as doing the same to a CC.

This is not a direct to ANY ex/current admin, just saying this bc SOME people are being kinda parasocial with them and well.. its not good to act like that, its VERY harmful to treat them like gods/saints, they should be treated as real life PEOPLE.
