#throwbackthursday to this very tall skinny piece of the great necromancer himself, Nagash. This was a fun piece to do. I was focusing a lot on atmosphere and lighting.

Another pair for the risen battalion 😁 this time, a pair of Barrow Guard wielding halberds with all the magical strength in their rickety bones 🤣
It probably says a lot about me that I love skeletons so much but I don't have time to unpack that; I have more skeletons to paint! 🤣

A fun tip to make your life more funny:
After completing a task, preferably a minor or mundane one, step back dramatically, spread your arms, and say "Such is the power of Nagash", like you've just personally fucked over all of the mortal realms.

These characters would all be worshippers of Nagash if they existed in Age of Sigmar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beta (Walking Dead): He is literally wearing his dead friend’s face and was part of what was basically a cult that believe the world now belong to the dead.
Julian (Randy Cunningham): “Death is so cool!”
The Frowning Friends (Smiling Friends): Nihilist, that’s all I need to say.
The best part is that Nagash would probably despise Julian and the Frowning Friends for how they reacted to a life threatening situation. He would probably just turn them into zombies to be used by Beta in a military campaign against the forces of Order, Chaos and Destruction.

Hey everybody! Sometimes I have a mood for undead/skeletons painting. Not that bones and withered flesh themself has some particular artistic taste to me. I would rather prefer to see them within some settings, especially fantasy style like. So happened I was looking for something to paint, and then once I had seen these Sons of Velmorn, I thought to myself that it would be very funny and relaxing to paint these undead warriors. So I painted two of them, you may check them in my artstation portfolio if curious. Some time had passed and I felt that I want to return to these characters to paint some others of them. So here they are marching after their important undead business. I incorporated one of them from the previous art and added few more warriors.
I hope you enjoy the artwork If you want to see more of my art I have a site: https://artbrushray.github.io/ Also I'm open to commssns. Soon will be more art. Have a good time!

I love how in fantasy/AoS they showed that Nagash was worse than chaos by just telling us that the people living under Nagash were treated better once chaos took over. Like chaos, the puppy stomping, disease spreading, off the scale of evil bad guys, treated random people better than Nagash.
And honestly that makes me more interested in Nagash even more. He’s worse than chaos just because he can be, not because of any philosophical reason. He was not raised in horrible conditions, he was the first born prince who killed his brother to be king, no other reason. Him being evil is because that’s his personality, he was a horrible person to began with. And unlike the chaos gods he does not need worship to be powerful, he just is. When Nagash is on the rise chaos fears him, what other faction can say that.

This is a really Niche and Nerdly post, BUT:
So in Age of Sigmar there are these guys called The Stormcast Eternals, who are mortals chosen by Sigmar(a mashup of Zeus, Odin, Thor, and Heracles) to be his soldiers(they're the setting's Spess Marins), and they're 'Eternals' because, everytime they die, they're "Reforged"(reincarnated and re-embodied) to continue fighting. But they have this plotline that the "Reforging" isn't perfect so a little piece of their souls are "winnowed" off everytime they die and they make a big angsty deal out of it and I'm like:
This sounds like a kickback to me.
For context: there's a Death God in this setting named Nagash, and his primary personality traits are 1)He's a Tyrant, 2)He's a Jerk, and 3)He Betrays Everyone at Every Opportunity. And GW makes the whole Reforging thing a Beef btwn Sigmar and Nagash like "you're stealing those souls they belong to me!" But you don't need to do that cuz Look at Who Nagash Is. Like: you could just have it be that the Winnowing is Nagash's cut, the tax he asked Sigmar to pay to keep using these souls, and Nagash remains an enemy after the deal anyway because he's just incapable of being chill or trustworthy about anything at all to anyone at anytime.
