The Pentagon, the Navy, the aerospace industry, and much of the world closely watch the US Navy’s ongoing source selection for the 6th-Gen F/A-XX carrier-launched fighter. Due to the program’s secrecy, little information is available. It was supposed to occur days ago according to some solid reporting. So why the delay?

Weapons developers, the defense community, and the public anticipate the expected announcement, and some might wonder why the decision is taking so long. The program is expected to move into Milestone B and transition to the well-known Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design (EMD) phase at some point this year, and only Boeing and Northrop Grumman remain alive in the competition.
Boeing is famous for the F/A-18 Super Hornet and was, of course, just selected for the Next-Generation Air Dominance F-47 6th-gen Air Force plane. Northrop is known for building the F-14 Tomcat.
Both companies have extensive experience engineering carrier-launched fighter jets, and both vendors are doubtless quite experienced with stealth technology.
It may be that Northrop has an edge with stealth technology, given its role in generating a new era of stealth technology with the B-21 and its history of building the first-ever stealthy carrier-launched drone demonstrator years ago called the X-47B.
Extensive Evaluation
Navy and defense evaluators will examine key performance specs such as speed, stealth effectiveness, thrust-to-weight ratio, fuel efficiency, aerial maneuverability, and lethality, yet there is an entire universe of less prominent yet equally significant additional capabilities that Navy decision-makers will analyze.
Requirements and proposal analysis for a program of this magnitude are extensive and detailed, as they often involve computer simulations, design model experimentation, and careful examination of performance parameters.
The process is quite intense, as the evaluation carefully weighs each offering’s technological attributes and areas of advantage against determined requirements. Requirements are painstakingly developed as Pentagon weapons developers seek to identify what’s referred to as “capability gaps” and then seek to develop technologies and platforms capable of closing those capability gaps by solving a particular tactical or strategic problem.

Navy developers likely envision a 6th-generation, carrier-launched stealth fighter as a platform capable of closing or addressing many capability gaps.
While little is known about the program for security reasons, the intent is likely to combine F-22-like speed and maneuverability with a new generation of stealth ruggedized for maritime warfare and carrier deck operations. Carriers are now being configured with special unmanned systems headquarters areas designed to coordinate drone take-off and landing.
This station requires deconflicting air space, accommodating wind and rough sea conditions, and ensuring a successful glide slope onto a carrier deck.
As part of a 6th-gen family of systems, the F/A-XX will be expected to control drones from the cockpit, conduct manned-unmanned teaming operations, and take-off-and-land in close coordination with drones.
Networking & AI
Boeing and Northrop have extensive drone-engineering experience and mature AI-enabled technologies. The Navy is likely closely looking at networking technologies. Each vendor platform must conduct secure data collection, analysis, and transmission to ensure time-sensitive combat information exchange.
This requires interoperable transport layer communication technologies to interface with one another in the air in real-time.
For example, the platform best able to successfully gather and analyze time-sensitive threat information from otherwise disparate sensor sources, likely enabling AI at the point of collection, will be best positioned to prevail in a competitive down-select.

The F/A-XX will not only need to connect with each other but also network successfully with F-35s and 4th-generation aircraft and ship-based command and control.
This connectivity will likely require gateway applications. These computer technologies are engineered to translate time-sensitive data from one transport layer to another.
Key targeting data may arrive via a radio frequency (RF) data link. At the same time, other information comes from GPS, and a third source of incoming data transmits through a different frequency or wireless signal.
How can this information be organized and analyzed collectively to a complete, integrated picture and delivered instantly as needed at the point of attack?
This is where AI-enabled gateways come in, and the vendor most successfully navigates these technological complexities will likely prevail.

It shouldn’t have surprised Riker when he saw Geordi hadn’t put in for their upcoming shore leave on Risa. Honestly he never did, and while that was fine, truly, he was just.. curious. Most of the senior officers were planning on a little R&R, they’d even managed to convince Data to join in this time for some new human experiences, which he definitely hoped would get Geordi’s attention.
Riker also had a little theory he was working on, but first he needed to ask something.
See, every time they went to a pleasure planet of any kind, Geordi almost never participated. If he had to go down as part of his duties, he was the strictest professional you’d ever seen. Rejecting advances like a pro, swerving any woman that tried to proposition him or even get too close. If they convinced him to come down recreationally, honestly he just looked uncomfortable. Not enough for most people to notice, and he was sure Geordi’s eyes being covered helped conceal whatever emotion he was feeling, but enough for Riker to pick up on. The tensed shoulders, set jaw, and once again, turning down the women who tried to help him relax a little.
If the man was just asexual or something similar, Riker would’ve dropped it a long time ago. But he knew he wasn’t. Because he’d asked. All he got in return was a rueful smile and a light chuckle, a simple “nope” and a change of topic. Plus, he knows Geordi’s.. gotten busy before, for lack of a better term. He’s seen him disappear for a good couple hours or even a night, coming back with a different spring in his step and rumpled clothing, and if he was teased, he always returned a smile and said he’d never kiss and tell. Which was fine, really, it all was fine, but something about it irked Riker.
Geordi was amongst friends here, and it felt like he was covering up something. They just wanted what was best for him. Riker wanted what was best for him. And that was why he was on his way down to Engineering where he knew there’d be almost no one at this time, so he could talk to Geordi alone, and maybe ask some questions.
“Mr. La Forge!” Riker called out as he walked into the, as predicted, pretty empty Engineering floor. He could see two people off in the far corner crowded together behind some screen, and he was pretty sure an analysis was being run by the warp core, but he knew he’d get Geordi alone with no one around to hear. Good.
“Commander!” Geordi popped up from the floor by the center console, smiling lightly at his friend. “What can I do you for?”
Start small. “How are things running down here?”
“Fit as a fiddle, Commander. I’ve sent most of the crew to go rest, I’ve got a couple working some diagnostics and here just in case, but she’s running smoothly.” He patted the console twice, leaning against it to look at Riker properly. “We should get to Risa with no issues.”
“Good, good.” He moved to stand across from Geordi, mirroring the other’s lean against the console there. “If everything’s great down here, why didn’t you put in for shore leave?”
A pause. “I’m sorry?”
“Why didn’t you put in for shore leave? I’m sure you could use the break.”
He chuckled, a little nervous, and moved to input something next to Riker at the console. “To be honest, I’m just not all that interested in Risa, Sir.”
“Data’s coming. We convinced him that it would be a good human experience. I’m sure he’d feel more comfortable with you there.” He knew it was low, but, hopefully, it would work. Just to get Geordi out of here for a minute.
Geordi straightened, fixing Riker with a stare. “Please tell me you’re not trying to get Data laid.”
That earned a laugh. “No! No, I know he can’t get, y’know, pent up like everyone else.” Geordi had already turned away and missed the pointed look Riker sent him. “Okay good, just making sure. I never know.”
Riker couldn’t help but smile a bit. “Don’t worry. Plenty of beautiful women down there for the rest of us, I think we’ll be fine.”
“Yeah.” Geordi nodded once, not looking up from the screen. “Sure.”
That gave Riker a little pause. He had to approach this carefully, he knew that, if he wanted Geordi to open up just a little to him.
“Plenty of beautiful men too.” Riker shrugged, making sure to not look at how Geordi tensed next to him. “I know I’ve had a good time or two.”
Oh.
Riker watched out of the corner of his eye as Geordi did what could only be described as glitching. He paused, head tilting in a way that seemed to mimic Data, before jerkily turning his head up to Riker.
So, Riker continued.
“The last time I was there,” he let out a low whistle, smiling, “I met this human guy. Gorgeous, just sculpted- I mean, you don’t need all the details, but you get the idea. He was there on vacation too. Fantastic night.”
Finally, he looked down at Geordi. “Commander?” Then continued when he got no response. “Geordi?”
“Sorry, I just- um, I didn’t, realize you’re- you were..?”
“Pan. Pansexual.”
“Pansexual.”
“Mhm.”
“And they’re..?”
Riker’s heart broke in realization that Geordi was afraid of his friends being bigoted about this. Geez, what had happened to him to make him think that?
“No one cares. I mean, some lower staff were rude about it, but none of our friends or anyone on the bridge gives a shit.” He made sure to make his best eye contact with Geordi for this next part. “And if someone did, they’d have to report to the Captain, who is not very nice about discrimination. Which is why those lower staff aren’t on board anymore.”
Geordi nodded, slow and small, like he was letting Riker’s words settle in his chest. Riker let him take all the time he needed.
“I..” He straightened, clearing his throat and shifting his weight. His hands still held on to the end of the console, leaning on it for mild support. “I’m uh, I’m gay, Will.”
Riker nodded, slow and steady, just for his friend. “Okay. I won’t bother you about women anymore, huh?”
That got the exact response he was going for, a small chuckle as tension bled out of the man in front of him. Riker smiled something warm and clapped the other on the shoulder, starting to walk out before pausing and turning to him.
“Submit for shore leave. I think you’d like Risa.” His smile turned mischievous as he added on. “I could be your wingman.”
Riker left to the tune of Geordi’s loud laugh, waving once before leaving. He didn’t see the sigh Geordi let out right after, looking down at the console.
Deanna took note of a weight getting lifted.

That’s right, our final Pokémon is a Grubbin! Apparently, this encounter can either be a Grubbin or a Joltik, I’m not sure how the game decides which bug to give you here, it could just be a 50/50 thing. But honestly, I would’ve been fine with either of them, both would be helpful for the Gym. Joltik is obvious, being part Electric-type itself by default; as for Grubbin? Well…you’ll see (and no, it’s not about its evolution).
Anyways, I’ve got a good Ball for this, so let’s start by just purely putting it to sleep with Sing.

Anyways, those are all the encounters- now it’s time to build our final team for Julia! …After I admire these nighttime light effects.

Anyways, as for our team to take on Julia- I did some looking, did some moving-around on the PC, and this is the final product (or, well, near final because there’s yet more grinding to do):

I swapped out Breeze and Streak for Bloom and Prong. Once this Gym battle’s done, I’ll probably bring Breeze back in after beating Julia, but as for Streak…who knows, this may be his time to get some rest. 
I’m keeping in Whiskers because she has a bit more type coverage in the form of Zen Headbutt and Disarming Voice in addition to a STAB Normal move. As for why I’m keeping Riptide in, well- c’mon, he’s our starter! I’m not taking my starter out of the party! It’s like Octopath Traveler, you can’t take the chosen protagonist out of the party- and even when you are allowed to take them out of the party in the endgame, I still don’t do it because I’m too attached.
Anyways, there are some interesting things about Bloom and Prong. For one thing, Bloom apparently has a unique Original Trainer-

Oh, but Bloom does have the Budew line’s Hidden Ability! Very nice, even if it won’t come into play in this particular Gym battle.
As for why Prong is so special, well, that’s pretty simple: her moves! And in Grubbin’s Gen VII learnset, there’s one move in particular it learns early on, and Prong luckily has it in her current moveset:

BEHOLD! AT LONG LAST, A SINGULAR GROUND-TYPE THING! Again, I doubt we’ll be able to rely on it during this particular battle, but a Ground move is a Ground move and it is so good to have.
Now, the next task is to get these two on the rest of the party’s level- Lv. 16 specifically- and from there, grind everyone up just a bit more (but still below Lv. 20, of course). Bloom in particular is an interesting case, because I want to evolve him into Roselia, but we can’t do that until it’s daytime again. So, I can probably start building up friendship with him now, then continue tomorrow.
And it was in the midst of trying to build up friendship with Bloom that we ran into this new guy, a scientist-looking dude. What’s he got to say?

Edit after the fact: This took me an hour that I was really supposed to be doing something else during so please consider reading it if you are interested in chronicle zero it is just a brain dump of all of my random thoughts but i hope to summon other genlosers who might like it
alright so this is gonna be a LONG post that's just Chronicle 0 theories and probably won't be edited too much because at some point I'll be typing as fast as my brain is going
Starting from the top, the connecting post from the generation loss twitter. This is the same connecting... type thing as from some Gen 1 teasers, especially with the portal thingy which means that, going by infinite alternate universes theory segment it's probably the reason we can see the things Zero writes.
In other words, the portal/connecting thing could be what let us watch Showfall Media's show, and could be the same thing that's putting Zero's journal in twitter posts for us.
Then Zero replies to it (kinda) with their first journal post, talking about how they're supposed to categorize their thoughts. Zero thinks it's dumb. The date is sometime in the 1900's, probably gonna be important later for time period and stuff. However, probably 1970's or later due to a later entry by Zero. The journal stuff was probably suggested by Mary (therapist?) as suggested by a later post. She wants Zero to keep writing.
Next, theres a poll with 3 hellos. I am forming this thought as I am writing it, but the polls seem to have an extremely different vibe than the journal entries. They could be a different person, someone from generation loss, or they could be Zero from a different time period... The definition of generation loss is "The loss of quality between subsequent copies or transcodes of data." (Wikipedia) could this be Zero from after the story starts, trying to ask for help or communicate? If so, does Zero know about the journal posts? I'm going to treat the polls as a different version of Zero for the rest of this analysis even though that isn't very likely.
The next post referances how it's been 8 months. 8 months since what? Given that Zero started writing in July, it was likely December or maybe November when something happened to Zero. Did Zero lose memories? Something happened to Zero, but what? Was it lostfield? What happened in December? Definitely something traumatic for them.
Continuing that section, Zero is getting treated poorly, and their family as well. This could easily be because of what happened in December. Did Zero do something? If Zero did something, other people might view them as a monster and be treating them poorly because of that. Zero made a list of good things and bad things, which can sometimes be something therapists ask you to do, making me think more that the journal is therapist sanctioned. The good things include their family, dog, Jay (partner? best friend?) something thats crossed out, and the journal they're writing in. They don't list the bad things, saying that they won't ever forget those. Is this a book so they don't forget their feelings? Are they worried about their memory? They also say that writing is helping.
There's another poll, between Who? or What?. Not much information to go along with that, so i'm skipping it.
J, presumably Jay, says that Zero should log their "wild dreams". This is where it starts getting interesting :D
D1 (dream one) Zero was in a red field (LOSTFIELD??) and it was all weird. For some reason, this made me think about nuclear stuff. Ranboo did say that radiation exposure was on the genloss board of ideas, but I don't think that generation 0 will have that, at least not much with the information that we have currently. Zero states that they were trying to find something, and then fell into a chasm. They state that the chasm felt unnatural and unstable. The cave shifts and they feel like they're being FORCED TO WATCH IT. And then the dream loops. Could this be a generation loss glitch? stay with me here, but what if this is a different one of the infinite worlds that's being accidently projected into Zeros mind as they sleep? Unlikely, but possible. It could also be what happened to them 8 months ago... or what will happen to them (poll person?).
Next post- Zero doesn't like work. This is the post that makes me think the year is 1970 or later, as it's mentioned that the manager is old and doesn't understand what they're selling due to his age. That implies that it could be technology retail, making me think of a later year. "the comments hes made have gotten on my nerves" harassment over normal stuff, or could it be over a side effect of whatever happened 8 months ago to Zero?
Ooooo Zero showed their dream to Jay and Jay thinks it's a cycle/Zero being forced to relive stuff. I really think there's going to be some sort of time loop in the show this time, like in groundhog's day and some other movies. Zero will probably get stuck. Jay likes supernatural stuff- Oh wait Ranboo mentioned this generation will have ghosts and stuff is Zero being haunted? THE POLLS COULD BE MADE BY GHOSTS OH MY GOD I WONDER IF THAT'S IT. that would be so cool and would make sense what if the ghosts are showing Zero how they died. Are the ghosts showing Zero how they died while Zero is sleeping. Oh no Zero's going to have so much trauma. IS THAT WHAT HAPPENED EIGHT MONTHS AGO DID SOMETHING HAPPEN LETTING THE GHOSTS CONNECT WITH ZERO THAT WOULD BE SO COOL probably not but like- okay back to the posts Zero doesn't believe in the supernatural despite Jay believing in it and knowing a lot about it.
wowie dream 2 okay Zero is definitely a high schooler or college student as they mention school and work as part of their normal day. Anyway the dream is a normal day but then they end up looking at the stars on the hood of Zero's car. Zero mentions a "we", could be friend group or Zero and Jay? Maybe Zeros family. Zero was calm, but the sky was ripply (like water?) and the stars looked weird. then everything else was gone and the sky crashed into them until they woke up?
If the dreams are from ghosts, then that ghost either drowned or got crushed by something from the sky. Could be a bomb or something, maybe.
oh my god it's another poll the poll is between Stop or Don't
Don't won. If the polls are from ghosts then this could be them asking if they should stop sending Zero dreams. If the polls are from Zero in the future... they could be Zero begging someone to stop torturing them that would be funnn.
Dream three! (this analysis is almost over and if you read all of it then thank you) Zero is in a hospital with alarms blaring and they know something is happening. TIME LOOP TIME LOOP TIME LOOP TIME LOOP THEY TRY TO FIND AN EXIT BUT KEEP ENDING UP IN THE SAME SPOT they don't know anything but that they have to get out... get out before what? they start panicking and then something starts chasing them. Oh this is an interesting sentence "It's screams sounded like my own, like I was out of air but still needed to make a sound." the phrasing of needed to make a sound and the fact that its screams sounded like Zero... The screams sounding the same remind me of the wire monster from Generation One absorbing Charlie. The fact that it sounded like Zero NEEDED to make a sound is incredibly concerning, but then again Zero and presumably the thing chasing them are both trapped. they are all trapped. Zero runs out of energy and then wakes up right before they can see the thing come through the door they just went through.
If these are ghosts, then this one died trapped in a hospital, possibly being chased by an attacker. (or alarms could be because of an air raid or smthing if I'm trying to connect this to as many theories as possible) This dream makes me feel like the POV is of someone younger. being trapped and having something chasing you until you run out of energy feels like something a child would feel, especially combined with the hospital and alarms. I'm not sure why I feel like that though.
At the end of that entry, Zero says that they're late, likely for school, and then they leave.

if the polls are from Zero's future self, then Slightly Older Zero could be living through the dreams. Maybe what Zero does in the dreams effects what Zero can do later.
If the polls are from ghosts, im not sure what this one would mean.
okay last journal entry before this post is done! Zero starts by quoting J "you never know when inspiration and or a traumatic experience will hit you" I really hope that Jay is a character in the filmed part of Generation 0, they seem great. This does kinda confirm that whatever happened to Zero was traumatic though. Zero then says that Mary was right about writing in this helping them. (this is why I think Mary might be Zeros therapist) then Zero says "maybe she could be right about me. Im hopeful." This makes me think maybe Zero views themself poorly due to whatever happened to them. Very interesting

HA yeah that was…that was from Tuesday night so you know a dude had to be a little sedated
But in ANY case, I for one am happy to have another chapter in this trying time! Regardless of thematic coincidences!
And I’ve thought about it more, and I think Kryptonians would definitely use fluorescent based sequencing, as opposed to something chemistry based, because they’re such a heavily wavelength based species and sequencing using flashing colors detection really fits that, you know? They seem like they would utilize lasers forever and for everything
And while I’m sure they have something to do whole genome sequencing that’s faster than we currently have (tho we are limited by how fast chemistry can you know. Chemical), I like to think Tim’s sequencing was done using Sanger sequencing, or the equivalent, because it’s fairly easy, fairly accurate, and it’s confirmed they already have sequenced something similar before so they would have the materials already (and you know, now that I think about it, Kon being a hybrid and in canon Kal having a half/half kid does indicate Kryptonian DNA has the same if not chemically compatible bases to humans)
If I had a heavy hunch about the identity of a sequence AND I already had the materials from before, it would take me like….personally 4-5 hours from start to finish to confirm Tim was human, and that’s from using my 2005 sequencer. If I needed more information/more sequence, I would use a next gen sequencer of some kind, but those take a lot longer to set up, like…hmmm at least a day (you can way more info, like in depth population analysis or a Whole Entire Genome, but they don’t NEED that right now)
Also I just love Sanger sequencing a lot, it’s so neat how it works. It’s like. It’s like you place a train on a track, and the train is a short DNA sequence you know (or hope) matches somewhere in your sample. And that train goes forward, replicating the strand of DNA it’s on (the train track). And every so often, the train will get stopped in its path by a glowing DNA base, 4 different colors for the 4 different bases. And this train does this thousands and thousands of times, getting stopped randomly at any point in the track with a glowing base. And when it’s done, you use an electric/magnetic current to separate the different train paths, from shortest (train gets stopped immediately) to longest (train gets stopped a solid mile down the track). And then look. At which color each track glows. Because they’re in order of size now! So you can see what the sequence of the whole track is by checking the order of the glowing bases from smallest to largest! I love it, I want to be buried in a Sanger sequencer when I die
Anyway. I actually love how you write your fic because you put just enough science in it to entice me and make me think, but not so much that it kills suspension of disbelief. It’s the perfect amount of explanation for me, unlike other shows that shall not be named
Ooh! I like the idea of them using fluorescent based sequencing, since yeah considering how heavily light/the sun ties into them conceptually and thematically, they absolutely would use lasers for everything forever XD
I didn't know about different kinds of sequencing, but Sanger sequencing does sound really cool! I like learning about neat tricks in science used to gather data quickly and accurately and then organize it to sort through and understand :)

It's a currently updating webcomic, but they're on Tumblr as well as jayrockin. The story follows a hypercarnivore alien/aerospace engineer named Talita who gets involved in fixing a pirate ship and running off to have space adventures. There's SO MUCH world building and thought gone into the world of the story that I think you would be interested in (if you haven't heard about it already).
